Sorry it don’t work well with Apple 3/5
Had a HP but cost to much for the ink so I go a new print (this one) Brother and every time it tells me to update and download but when I try to update it tells me that there are no updates or turn off the apple and that can be my iPhone, iPad or Mac Pro so it’s a good printer but when you have to sign into the Wi-Fi every time I need to print it’s get’s old and makes me want to buy a new printer which is sad Please just FIX the updates
Usually will not connect 2/5
I have found this app useless as most of the time it shows my printer but can not connect to it. Kinda like a car with no engine
Garbage App 1/5
Very slow transmission. Doesn’t support iPhone X screen size. Don’t buy Brother products. They don’t properly support them. Garbage app.
Too slow 1/5
By Raid al Rajib
It takes around 5 mnts to print 2 page
Pointless App 1/5
The scan feature is annoying as it saves everything as a png file; plus, it adds an additional document to your destination folder that has the text “from brother iPrint&Scan”. It does this for every document scanned. It’s really annoying to have to go and delete all those unwanted files.
It easier to use the controls on the machine itself if your scanning and just use iOS to print.
I suppose the app maybe handy to look at the status of the printer but I can do that from a web page.
To me this app is pointless and provides no value. I deleted the app.
Worthless App 1/5
Dot bother it doesn’t work
Works for me 5/5
Contrary to the negative reviews here, I was able to easily connect to my printers IP & scan from my phone. We'll have to wait & see if problems arise...
Doesn’t work on iPad 1/5
By Coonass 2
Works on my Android devices but not the iPad. Says “Cannot Connect”. Very vague error description.
Can’t scan properly 1/5
I really wanted to like this app because it was easy to set up. But it saves each scanned page as a separate file and I don’t see an option anywhere to combine the pages into one document... if I could fix this problem, it would have 5 stars
The title sums it all up. No need to install this app because the only thing it does is take up memory on my phone. It does nothing else.
Useful for scanning 2/5
I currently have 4 working MFC and support another family member with one, remotely. I have worn out 3 printer over the past 10 years. They have been fairly reliable and relatively easy to use, but are complex and often confusing when trying to use extended capabilities.
After using the iPrint/Scanner for over a year, I have been happy with the scanner function put find the printer function to be useless. The scanner will support a limited number of paper sizes and also handles the ADF with the same paper sizes as well as single/double sided paper in the ADF.
The print function appears to assume that the print size matches the pager size and places the image where it expects the paper to be located approximately. There are no provisions for setting vertical or horizontal orientation of an image or centering images. The decision to enlarge an image to fit the paper size is controlled by the border option, but does not work correctly.
Printing appears to work better by just using the IOS print option in the share function, although it would be nice to have a utility that would control the printing area(s) on the paper and allow images or text to be oriented in the area(s).
Abruptly stopped working 1/5
I'm furious that my app stopped working abruptly. Whenever I tap on the Brothers app it goes completely blank I have deleted and reinstall thinking this may help but it didn't change anything!!!
This was once a great working functioning app but now it's worthless!!!! Very disappointed with Brothers.
Just baaaaarely worthwhile 1/5
By H Graham
For iPad/iPhone users, technically does what it says it’ll do. Through a series of complicated manipulations, you can usually scan and occasionally print (using third-party software). Can’t print from Safari, usually not from Mail and, depending on what it is, not PDFs from various programs. Usually just get frustrated and grab my old laptop to print. Which is the ONLY REASON I still have the laptop!!! Really should get a 21st-century printer, too.
Get it Together Brother!! 1/5
Brother had a good reputation for excellent printers! However, mind as well throw it down the drain because it’s not keeping up with technological advancements. I have an iPhone X and even before with my iPhone 7 it was buggy and had similar issues. It would only print a couple pages then stop and take forever trying to “data collect” only to end in frustration.
Also why in the world would I NEED to make sure all inks are minimally full to use my printer? One time I ran out of color but only needed to print in black and white and it wouldn’t allow it!! It’s costly to buy individual inks when you just need it to operate with out color on most print jobs.
Lacking key options for printing 2/5
No option for printing quality (draft , high or normal) or to save ink
Review of iPrinter and iScan 1/5
Just got a new update. As usual after an update my device (all of them) will no longer print. As usual, within 6 months a new fix will be issued and I will be able to print again. Do not understand why it takes 2 updates to fix our printers when they worked before the fix.
Missing things 2/5
Please allow us to print multiple photos in one page this is very important.
Can’t Print Using the Share Button Anymore! 1/5
I used to be able to click the share button and select iPrint&Scan to open a print job from anywhere there button was available. It now seems that feature is gone and what is left is a clunky barely usable shell of an app. Please fix this functionality of this app and bring the share button ability back. The app went from useful to useless with the removal of just this one feature.
No color 2/5
Printing from my iPhone it only uses cyan for color so I only get black and white accented by blue. Prints fine from the laptop so I figured it must be from the app. Not many setting to check and change
After downloading this app I was able to print one time. Now I get an error message telling me to check and make sure the printer and iPad are on the same network. Nothing has changed so I don’t know why this isn’t working. Very disappointing.
Freezes on pdf included in mail 1/5
Mail includes a pdf attachment with the mail message when printing. My MFC-J5520DW freezes as soon as the pdf page hits it. The Brother print control window stalls with the arrow going around. This app needs updating.
Love the printer, don’t like this app 2/5
First alarm was that the app did not automatically find my printer, but immediately found it when I manually installed it with the IP address. I have a fairly new printer, MFC-9930CDW, but only have two functions available in the app: print and scan. According to the feature/model list, many older and newer less expensive models have full features like Machine Status. Overall, I like the printer well enough to not let this app discourage me, but i will never buy another printer that is not iOS AirPrint compatible. Hope Brother improves this app in the meantime.
Connectivity issues with iOS 1/5
The app will not wake the printer out of deep sleep mode so I have to restart the printer every single time I want to print from my iphone.
The printer works fine with my PC, it is only problematic with ipad and iphone.
This issue needs to be fixed and the developers must provide a way for the app to bring the printer out of sleep mode or find a way for the connection to automatically connect just like a PC - without having to restart printer each and every time I need to print or scan something.
This is completely time-consuming and inefficient and makes the app inconvenient to use.
I hope there is a different app that will make my brother printer compatible with iphone otherwise I’m getting a different printer that can work with iOS. Connectivity issues are wayyy too much of a hassle.
Works, but Slow 3/5
It does what it says, but it is very slow with my MFC-L2740DW. Even when printing a simple Word document, it takes about 30 seconds per page. In addition, when printing multiple copies of one document, it seems to send the information as multiple print jobs, taking up much more time than simply sending the job and telling the printer to reprint the document however many times specified.
Does Not Work 1/5
I can only print intermittently with the app and it sometime takes up to 5 minutes to start printing with long delays between pages. Won’t allow me to print a document containing letter and legal size documents. I’m sending the printer back because this app makes mobile printing useless.
Stopped working 1/5
This worked flawlessly at first; then after a few months it stopped picking up the printer from my mobile. Which defeats the purpose of purchasing a bluetooth/WiFi printer.
Awful App 1/5
Print is blurry and ghosted when printing via the “Remote” feature on the app. Comes through clear when printing to the same printer from Google Cloud Print though...
Takes forever to send data to printer 2/5
It takes 5-10 minutes to print 1 page from the iPhone app (that’s if it doesn’t completely timeout). It’s not a WLAN issue as I can print from PCs to this printer in a few seconds. Appears to be a bug in the data transmission from app to printer that’s never been fixed.
No longer works with MFC-9325 2/5
Used to work with this model, but no longer.
So basic, no duplex default, can't duplex Cloudprint 1/5
I have two Brother printers, the MFC-9970CDW and the HL-L6200DW. I needed this app because the 9970 doesn't have AirPrint and then I like that I can print remotely using Google Cloud Print. However even though you can duplex a print job using Google Drive and you can duplex using the app locally, YOU CANNOT DUPLEX REMOTELY. I'm pretty sure this is a Brother problem and not a Google problem. You also cannot set duplex as the default. It isn't truly terrible, but since you don't need it with the 6200 locally since it has AirPrint and you can't use it remotely because I don't print hundred page document is one sided, it basically represents a total failure on their part to do the simplest upkeep on their app and that earns one star.
Omg this doesn’t work at all on my phone or my wife’s iPad. Going out to buy a new printer.
Functional companion to my new printer 5/5
By Garrett H.
Just picked up my first Brother printer off Amazon after many lackluster years as an HP customer. I’m pleasantly surprised with it so far. The app (which you really only need for advanced stuff like scanning since my model also uses Apple AirPrint, which doesn’t require this app at all) seems easy to use and intuitive.
It integrates with the Mail and Outlook apps seamlessly (only complaint is that it’d be nice to send the scanned attachments as one multi-page PDF rather than multiple JPEGs). And it suggested a firmware update immediately upon install, connecting me to the printer’s online setting page without issue.
All of this is way more than HP’s app(s) could muster. And I do mean multiple apps - for some reason, one version got so screwed up they took it off the App Store and created an entirely new one (which didn’t even support my printer, hence this new Brother). Definitely happy with my decision to switch so far.
By Duane Henderson
Does not work very well. Printer does not stay connected to the Network. The APP requires you to go thru Google to access application and sites to print content. You should be able to print from the content or site your in. Not sure if going thru the Brother APP is secure.
Missing options 3/5
Easy to use! But missing options of double sided print and multiple pages per sheet. Close to being a great app for convenience
Does not show all photo folders 2/5
Ugh. For some reason, this app does not show all of the folders within the Photos app. It only shows certain folders, looks like the ones that are shared perhaps. My “all photos” folder has over 1000 photos, and that folder does not show up. So I can’t use this app to print photos.
If that worked, I’d give Brother 5 stars for the app. Like the Google Drive integration. Simple yet verbal interface. Pretty cool that you can upgrade the firmware right from the app.
Needs iPhone X Support 4/5
App works great! It’s too bad iPhone doesn’t offer native support for anything else besides their AirPrinter.
Needs better integration 2/5
When you attempt to save scanned files to iCloud it saves a text file with the contents ‘from brother iPrint&Scan’. Same happens with other ‘send to’ targets with the exception of saving to your photos. You can obviously work around this by first saving to photos and then moving it from there but it’s just inconvenient.
There’s almost no point for using the print capability from the app as it’s better integrated from the os level. The app print option doesn’t support iCloud files from you phone either. It’s like this app is trapped in 2010 when you still needed a Mac to use your iPhone.
Software issues 2/5
Hey I was able print and scan from my iPhone. But now I can only print and NOT scan.
Can someone help me out here.
Deep Sleep 2/5
Maybe if I could get the printer out of deep sleep, the iPhone could find it!!! Oh wait, now the printer is out of deep sleep, and the iPhone still can’t find it! Brother is living in the 2000’s still with a Microsoft mentality where you have to manually configure things instead of having them just work.
Leaves iPad 3 users in the dark 1/5
I'm sorry I'm not a rich hipster that can afford only three latest and greatest devices for every member of the family! ONE STAR!!!!
Many many bugs & glitches. 2/5
In the most optimistic, bare bones interpretation- it does what it says it can do. It does it so poorly though that you will probably rarely, if ever, use this app.
To scan from this app you literally can only control color or b&w, no resolution, no auto-crop...it can scan directly to a cloud service...if you go and manually save it and using iOS’s file system save options choose your cloud destination there. Also, it creates and saves in your scan destination a text file that says “From Brother iPrint&Scan” for EACH SCAN! Also from the app it just saves everything as .png format and with the name “image.” I’m mentioning all these because scanning from the device direct to cloud lets you pick the resolution (though the files scanned from app appear to be much higher resolution based on file size??) and names them with the time scanned, and gives some other good options.
It’s like the people who did this app and the people who did the commands directly on the printer didn’t even talk to each other or attempt in any way to have similar features at both interfaces.
Can’t connect 1/5
By Wether one
Same as previous reviewer. For some reason lately it will not recognize my WiFi. I have to restart every time and even then sometimes it still will not print.
Quick and Easy 5/5
This printer and app has been incredible. Installed the app, found the printer on the WiFi, and printed a document. Done! It is all I needed, well done thank you.
Very Disappointed 1/5
I am taking the printer back and uninstalling this app. It won’t work unless you agree to hand over the details of your life to Googul. I am doing my best to stop exchanging my life details for a collection of crappy Googul apps. I am sure Googul has a ton of info about me now, all the more reason not to give them any more. Come on Brother, you charge real money for the printer, do you need crappy Googul code to run it?
By Gulf State Software
I don’t need lot for print a doc from mobile. It have everything for print through wifi.
Works Wonderfully for me! 5/5
By Kiko's Wife
It is easy to use, and works just fine.
Useless scanner app on iPad 1/5
Only scans as individual pages - ALL with the same file name which cannot be edited and which you CANNOT save as the all have the same name. The “Keep Both” option does nothing. Useless.
messes up the files that you scan in 1/5
By Dinah Ann
When you scan in a file it writes “from brother iprint&scan” on the pdf file. I do not want this when I print out the file and I can not figure out how to erase this.
Stopped working 3/5
My Iphone 6 Plus stopped giving me a print option. I used to choose print and then choose my brother wifi printer. Now, I have to print directly from the app, which means I can’t easily print anything anymore. Probably Apple, not this app?
Update buggy 2/5
With the latest upgrade Nov. 9, 2017 the app doesn’t pull all my iPad pics up for printing. When I click on a pic I can find, it just sits trying to load it. All my settings allow this app to use my pics but they aren’t being pulled over. Very frustrating.
