Doesn't have all options that Control Center did 1/5
I've got a MFC-7860DW and can only scan one sided images or single pages. This app doesn't let me "continue" or add pages after the first one is done. If the pages aren't all individual you only get to do one page at a time.
works with MFC-J870DW 5/5
Their "iPrint and Scan" app doesn't work with this model but this app works fine. I don't think it has all of the features of the pre MacOS 15 Control Center but it works fine.
printer not supported 1/5
DCP-7065DN not supoorted. I bought this print a while back but it is still going strong with the two-side print and scan but it is not supported.
if you don't support your own product then I am not going to buy one again.
on borrowed time 3/5

"Starting with macOS High Sierra 10.13.4, apps that have not been updated to use 64-bit processes produce a one-time alert when opened. This gives users advance notice that they are running 32-bit software, which will not be compatible with macOS in the future."
i'm running 10.14.4 already.
I quickly needed an app to connect to a Brother multifunction laser printer on the same WiFi network as me in order to scan something. This did it. Thanks.
It works...but... 2/5
While scanning with this app is not difficult, it does not provide any more functionality than the built-in scanning app (accessible from the Printer/Scanner Preferences). In fact it is missing what I consider to be a critical piece of functionality...the ability to specify the name of the file generated by a scan. All you can do is specify the name of the folder and you delve into the advanced settings you can specify the base file name for a named configuration. That is rediculous - use the settings to set a DEFAULT name by all means, but let me choose the filename for each scanned document! On top of that, as "Noproblema" pointed out, there is no preview. Both these features are available in the built-in scanning app!
Totally Works 5/5
Its hard to find easy ways to go paperless - or just keep track of receipts and bills. Sure you can pay for quickbooks or another program - but they all cost money that I don't have. I ust want a way to make presets - like "Scan a doc of this size, 1 sided, save to X Folder".
Then I can organize the files myself and save them to an external hard drive for safe keeping. I don't want my bills and receipts in the cloud either. So this is a great driver/utility app for scanning with different presets.
Sure - it crashes sometimes - what app doesn't. But I can say it is much faster and better than BR-Receipts (which came wth my Brother scanner ADS-1000W). Bottom line I like this and can use it to do what I wanted to do.
Doesn’t work with my wifi printer/scanner. 1/5
To my surprise this app won’t connect to my MFC-7840W All-In-One. Went to add the printer/scanner and it shows it in the list. When I select “Add” the app tells me the scanner is not available. Can’t figure out how to make it work. Good thing the app is free, otherwise I’d be very angry!
Shame on you Brother! 2/5
In had MFC 7360N for several years. It scanned great, connected via Ethernet like charm. When it died, I decided to get MFC L2710DW for its two-sided capabilities, it prints via Ethernet from multiple computers perfectly, so obviously the port works. Scanning is a different matter, Ethernet and WiFi do not work no matter what I do. I went through all the recommended steps, plugging, unplugging, rebooting, reseting my LAN, using different SSIDs, etc, etc. I finally was able to make it work via USB, with the cable snaking around the room, but the scanning app is very basic comparing to the one I had with the 7360.N, no preview, fewer scan output options, takes longer to do a basic job. The interface is cuter, but it hardly matters if it does not work as advertised. Looks like Brother with all their tech resources, took a giant step backward. Oh, I am using latest Apple hardware, up-to-date OS, so my experience might not apply to Windows based systems.
Works with older scanners is its best attribute 3/5
Super basic, less capable than Preview in terms of scanning options. Would not use it if Preview worked.
Works well, but not perfectly 4/5

I use this with two brother printers, one at home and one at church, and it works very well.
The only reason it does not get 5 stars is that it will not open a window if you open the app on a 2nd monitor. It only works correctly on the primary mac monitor.
Keep getting ‘Failed to Connect” to Brother MFC printer 1/5
No matter what I tried, this app doesn’t connect to my Brother printer (Model MFC-L27 400W). I can print fine on the printer from other Mac apps. It also works with the apps that came with the printer (Brother Control Center). The printer was restarted several times, but makes no difference. The printer is on a home network and is visible on the Mac’s list of printers & scanners. Useless.
Doesnt work with my 11x17 scanner 1/5
I have a MFC J6535DW and i really like the machine but this app is not campatible with the 11x17 system because the auto feeder wants to take letter size paper sidways, and this app tries to put the side ways paper into a portrait format so you get the center of the screen. So, back to the pen drive it is. Using the pen drive method the scanner has alwasy done PERFECT, either multi page auto feeder, single pages on the flatbed or multi page via the flat bed, combines it all into one pdf perfectly reguardless the paper size. So i know it can be done this app just doesnt.
Unacceptable for photos 2/5
Fine for scanning non-photographic documents. But photos are not acceptable via this software.
So Easy! 5/5
WIthin a minute, I scanned my first document. Super easy!
SImple, perfect 5/5
use MCF 2740DW, wifi connect only to Mac. Less than two minutes to purchase and scan first document. Recognized immediately, links to mail perfectly. Everything should be so simple.
Nice clean modern interface and works seemlessly at least for me. 5/5
In the past I have installed the whole driver set and included software / utilities. Whilst they work the interface feels dated. This app works a treat.
As an example, the the traditional app you have to tell the scanning tool to choose between the feeder or the flatbed; this automatically detects the multidocument feeder and if there are documents in the tray scans from there, if not it trys to acquire the scan from the flatbed.
In summary, I like it :-)
Works Well & is Free 5/5

This works great with my Brother MFC-L8850CDW. It’s reasonably fast too.
Will not even connect to my scanner. (HL-2280DW)
Tells me it is working on another job.
Can do nothing from there on.
Don’t waste your time.
Exceeds expectations 4/5
Only reason I am giving it a 4 is because I haven’t found a way to add to a document. Windows version lets you do continuous or non continuous scanning. So, if you need to add something you can. This version doesn’t. However, this does let you scan both sides of a document at one time!! This is not a feature of the windows version, and has saved me a rediculous amount of time since I don’t have to flip pages over now and scan again (hence previous need to add to scanned document before converted to PDF). LOVE THIS AP
Save your time and money 1/5
I cannot explain the amount of grief my brother printer has given me. Nothing works the way it should, it’s technologicaly backwards. Save your time and money and purchase LITERALLY any other brand.
Functions as expected with my Brother printer/scanner/fax 5/5
I have a Brother MFC-J680DW, and this app works like a charm for scanning. I like that I can set up and save different profiles for different purposes. I can’t speak about the results if you use it with other Brother models, but it works fine with mine.
Cannot scan multi page PDFs 1/5
The app should be improved so users can continuosly scan pages into a single PDF fle.
Good app, works with old Brother 8860DN MFC 5/5
By Jules Two
With my old Brother printer/scanner and the recent Mac OS updates I thought I was outta luck and had to buy a new compatible scanner. Thankfully I stumbled upon this app. It works just fine for my purposes!
Works Nicely 4/5
I just downloaded this app, it works quite nice. It is by far easier than using the native apple scan app which is hidden in system preferences. This is great for the less computer-savvy.
