Best App Ever!!’ 5/5
I studied Japanese before with a teacher and this app is just incredible. Simple and easy to use and top notch all the way! Thank you
Very pleased 5/5
I don’t usually write reviews but this app is actually good. It pretty interactive especially for Use of famous actors and characters from shows in it sentence examples :) 5 stars from me
Well organised episode.
this app has been really helpful so far, especially compared to all of the other ones that i’ve tries so far! i already know hiragana and katakana so it is very frustrating when i download other apps and it forces me to review both of them in their entirety before i can move on (● ˃̶͈̀ロ˂̶͈́)੭ꠥ⁾⁾
this is also really helpful in helping me learn the japanese keyboard!!!
This app has helped me so much. I use this to study along with my textbook. I love that it’s free and effective. If a price is ever put on this I would pay no questions asked.
My favorite app for Japanese 5/5
I found this app a little while ago and started studying with it. All the grammar points are so simply put, yet understandable and effective. I have even started incorporating some into daily conversation! I seriously can’t believe it’s free!! I use this app daily. Thank you to the developers who made this!
Very easy to use and fun! 5/5
This app is very fun and it’s super helpful! I love apps that incorporate examples and also allow for the reader to make their own guesses from Japanese to English and from English to Japanese. I’ve already referred to to several of my friends that are learning Japanese language, but don’t have the time to take classes at a community college. I went to Japan last year and knew enough Japanese to get by, but would love to continue learning so
next time I return to Japan I can commerce better with the locals in Japanese! :D
Best of the best 5/5

Very complete application to study Japanese. It is the application that I have been looking for years. Hope you can add more modules even though this app will keep you busy for a long time. I really like the conception. Once you try this application you will delete all the others. Great job. 本当どうもありがとうございます。
I’d Pay for this App 5/5
I have been using this app for a few days only, but it’s simply amazing. The lessons are simple but effective. The developer is very, VERY responsive. You can ask him questions about the lessons or point out problems and they get fixed really quickly. I reported two problems and the developer replied and fixed them both within 12 hours.
If this app is ever a paid app or even a subscription, I’d pay for it because responsive developers deserve every support they can get.
Also, I may be wrong about this, but I think the developer is a Japanese native who is fluent in English, so you can be assured that the lessons are as real as they can get, and the app doesn’t try to teach you things the same way as many other apps that teach you by “Enflishying” the language too much.
Still a great app! 5/5
I reviewed Bunpo before and loved it, and several updates later this is still a really solid language app.
I’m shocked this isn’t more well-known by the language learning community at large—this is pretty much the ultimate grammar guide for all things Japanese? Far more so than any competing language apps like Duolingo or LingoDeer. This is the sort of resource I wanted for literal YEARS, where you have the whole range of Japanese grammar from N5 to N1 and not just the basics, while still being a fun and gamified learning experience. Months later I’m still kinda floored such an app finally came into existence.
And Bunpo manages to do all of this while keeping a very polished UI, frequently adding and updating content, and all for free, without ads! Honestly remarkable and, like many have said, if it did become a paid app in the future it would certainly be worth it. (Fwiw as a broke college student a one-off fee would be preferable, but I’d even invest in a reasonable subscription plan for you, Bunpo.)
My one complaint with the newest update is being required to swap to the Japanese keyboard, unlike the old typing quizzes where it just automatically converted your romaji into kana. I’m lazy, I liked that old system :’)
That being said, the actual layout of the new typing quizzes looks nicer and works a lot better than before!! They also seem more challenging, but in a good, “I can feel myself having to actually think about this and use my prior knowledge” sort of way.
The new app icon looks a lot nicer, too; a much better fit for the quality of the app and its content.
Sound not always working 5/5
This looks like a really interesting app, but unfortunately I’m using it on my iPad but sometimes there is no sound. I have a generation 6 iPad. Please make a native app!
App is severely bugged right now, don’t bother downloading 1/5
App keeps crashing, can’t get past the new account page
This is a great app to begin with or to learn the basics of Japanese. It’s fun, simple, and productive/consistent with results. Highly recommend it, plus it’s not like other language apps were you have to pay for more. You get everything free and it’s what you need to learn. Nothing to waste your time with.
I’m so happy to have this app 5/5
I’ve been studying Japanese off and on for years and there are certain grammar concepts that just wouldn’t stick. I have books and all kinds of resources but the way you are presenting everything in this app is actually more fun and helpful and explained in a way that I can understand. I enjoy the quizzes too, they help so much! I’m learning a lot from your app! I’m thankful to use it for free, you’re too kind. But if you started charging for it, I would pay. It’s worth it!! ありがとうございます！
Great, but there's a little problem 5/5
i love this app so much,
guaranteed i don't use it that much. i got this app when i had an iphone 8, but i recently had to switch to an old iphone 5c that my grandma used to own because of a carrier swap. everything started going downhill after i got it on friday.
first, it took a super long time just for the courses to load. after a couple of minutes (which felt like hours because of my impatience), it started to work. i did a couple lessons in hiragana, and went to bed. then when i woke up and tried to do a lesson, the courses wouldn't load in, but the chat and profile loaded in faster. i've had to restart it two times to get the app to work properly.
i think it's because of my phone being at ios 10, but it's making it hard to enjoy the beauty of this app.
very good app :) 5/5

This app explains grammatical concepts very clearly, simply, and accurately, and even provides good examples! It has a simple, user-friendly design and I just CANNOT GET OVER HOW PERFECT IT IS!!
I would like it if there was level N5 grammar, just to review. I would also love vocab and kanji apps that are this simple and comprehensive!!
THIS APP IS AMAZING 5/5
I wanted to challenge myself by learning Japanese and I gave quite a challenge I thought that it would not let you fix your mistakes I was wrong I dose it is truly amazing that is why I am giving it a 5 star rating
Simply and elegant 5/5
Minimalistic design and thorough lessons/reviews make this app a winner! Not to mention the live chat help! You can tell the developers put a lot of love into making this, and I sincerely appreciate that it’s not behind a paywall. As others have stated if/when it converts to a paid model, please make a one-time fee. Your consumers will thank you!
Amazing!!! Download it right now! 5/5
Not only does this app explain in detail how to pronounce the vowel or word. It also gives examples and a voice option. 10/10!!!! Love it!!!
Very Good 5/5
I just started using this app and it is amazing I love it and I’m so excited. I’ve always wanted to study abroad in japan and now I can be a few steps ahead.
10 Star App! 5/5
This is truly an amazing application that I can hardly believe is free. This really deserves to be a paid app. It will walk you through the grammar from JLPT N5 (basic) all the way up to N1 (advanced). The explanations are detailed and yet simple so anyone can follow along. The only prerequisite is that you can read English; this app will even teach you the kana (how to read the Japanese alphabet) if you're completely unfamiliar with the Japanese language. The quizzes after the explanations are both challenging and fun reminding me very much of Duolingo. Your knowledge will be put to the test while you'll be put at great risk of becoming an obsessive Japanese grammar addict like me. Finally, the app allows you to ask questions about the contents which... I'm just speechless about. The time, energy, and kindness put into this app is truly mind-blowing; it'll be obvious to anyone who's studying Japanese or has an interest in Japanese that this app was built only with the Japanese learner's best interest in mind. Did I mention the app is gorgeous and clean as well (swiping though the explanation cards is so satisfying) and it has finally been fixed to work with iOS 10 again! What are you waiting for? Ready to master Japanese?! 🙌🏼 The app's free, there's no sign in required, so you've really got nothing to lose! 🤗
Very helpful 5/5
I am taking Japanese classes currently at my college and this is helping me with sentence structure and to remember Japanese especially when I’m on break. It is good practice and helps reinforce things that I learned already and am going to learn. I had a problem with the app and someone helped me out immediately and the problem was fixed in the next couple of hours! If you are planning on taking Japanese or reinforcing what you already know I would definitely recommend this app!!
The best app ever to learn Japanese Grammar ! 5/5
I have been learning Japanese for years and meet with difficulties in studying Grammar. I can’t remember and can’t understand it well wben studying with textbook. This app helps me a lot. It have many example with each grammar structure, and you can also ask if you meet points you don’t understand.
The app has only been out for a short while, but I’m loving the interface and everything about it!
I had this app for the past 6 months maybe. Before, it was good. You could choose a JLPT level and grammar point and get a series of written questions. Sometimes it would crash. Few complaints. But NOW it’s just amazing. There are translations, grammar explanations, readings, listening questions, and free chat options!!!! I don’t think this app could be any better. It is just superb! Perfect for JLPT practice. I have zero complaints at the moment, aside from waiting in suspense for the N4 translations to finish the set!! :D
Always wanted an easy way to practice Japanese grammar.
This app is great!
So far, so good. 5/5
I reviewed some N5 grammar points. The interface was excellent and the explanation and quizzes made a lot of sense. I will continue trying it out. Thanks for putting this out for free, hope to support by paying somehow.
Not useful for learning as a novice 2/5
While this may be useful for people who have some knowledge of Kanji, it's not useful for a novice who only knows hiragana and katakana. Market it as a study tool or create a separate non-kanji section for beginners to learn Japanese grammar
The typing quiz is completely broken! I tried to type the answer with a hiragana keyboard but the screen showed nothing was being input. If this app can’t accept answers then it is completely useless!
So useful for learning at any level 5/5
The design of the app is exactly what I’ve looking for, studying for JLPT, being both a “grammar dictionary” and grammar teacher. Since the terms are grouped by level, the UI may not lend itself as an explicit grammar reference, but it can if you need it to, and nothing around compares to how complete and clean the quizzing system feels. It acts as both a great refresher and teacher, and I can’t thank the devs enough for making it.
Not at my level, but looks polished 5/5
By Kelly Bergamini
As far as app designs go, I really like the minimalist aesthetic that is going on here. I am still at N5 and I really think that they should add that because their target audience is probably people that haven’t found the place they are learning a language yet, but that’s just me. When I get to a level that I can actually use this app, I will adjust my review, but I think that these guys really need reviews right now for visibility, and there is certainly potential, so I’ll just leave this here.
Nice UI 5/5
Very intuitive. Been using this to study for N3.
