This app is very helpful to me and others who want to learn a different language
Japanese vocabulary strengthening needs work 2/5
The app does make for a lot of interaction opportunities with other native language users, which is a huge plus.
But I’m giving this two stars because I’m learning Japanese right now, or at least trying to, and the vocab refresh exercises are very “not user friendly.” For instance, I’ll hear “何” and type that in, but then I was suppose to include a slash and other alternative ways to spell it out. It makes for a very frustrating time when I know the answer provided was more or less right on the mark.
Otherwise busuu is great but hopefully this spelled out issue brings attention to it and gets it fixed.
Good work! Except... 5/5

I am really happy with the course it provided on German language! However, when it comes to the dialogues, you'll have to play it once all by clicking the play button, you can't really stop one by one. I think this is good too to get the over all feeling of how is it like in the general. From my point of view, make it able to play sentence by sentence after it played the whole dialogue once/twice is good too.
Great way to learn ! 4/5
Glad I have this app! It is a fun way to learn!
By Noob sensation
I love the app, but I got the update a couple days ago but when I tried to use it today it started me back at level 1 and it’s asking about the premium version but I already purchased it. I doubt I will use the app until this is fixed. 😕

Great app, starts from the basics, or you can jump to your desired skill level. You get visuals spelling speaking and then they test and quiz you would recommend getting the premium.

Excellent Course 5/5

Pertinent instruction, well paced and remedial! I recommend it for all levels.
This is the best app for learning
Keeps you interested! 5/5
Really love this app versus other apps like Duolingo or memrise. I truly appreciate the placement test when going into a language so that you don’t have to start from scratch on something you’ve already learned and quickly become tired of the slow review to your level.
It’s very versatile on top of that, with different lessons and dialogues. The language tips are very helpful.
I enjoy the community corrections though I wish they would go in and correct your exercises if yours hasn’t been corrected in maybe... 48 hours? Waiting for a native speaker of your new language can take quite a while.
seriously, do it. 5/5
this app is flipping amazing. i have searched high & low for a language app that was a) well-paced, b) multidimensional in its practice formats and range of subject matter, and c) reasonably priced for what it had to offer. busuu has satisfied my search absolutely above and beyond.
on top of this, the opportunity to consult native speakers of your target language re: your progress, as well as the ability to assist them in their own journey, is essential to lasting language assimilation, and busuu is the only program i have found that offers this with such ease of accessibility.
i actually deleted several social media apps because all my free & fun time is now being spent doing what i love, with busuu. thank you! 🙏🏼

This app is okay.... I guess. I’ve learned some words in Spanish but I don’t know why their is a premium part of the app that you have to pay. So that resulted into me failing the grammar review that I didn’t even learn about. So I stopped using the app. I would write a better review if everything was free.
Great app 5/5
I’m learning English in this app. And I feel better

It's a fun way to learn other languages! I love the community as well!
One of the best!!! 5/5

While I myself don't use Busuu for language learning, I'm absolutely in love with the review feature! I myself am what you'd call a "grammar nazi" which means I'm obsessed with correcting people's mistakes! Not only does the reviewing feature help me do that, but I also meet new, wonderful people as well!!!

This App is very interesting, it’s creative in every aspect I’ve only used it for 30 mins!!
I love it so far, I’ll continue to use it to connect the world💙💙🌏
Pretty good 4/5
I like how it breaks it down into different themes / sections and kind of sneaks some grammar rules here and there. I also like the social aspect of having native speakers correct you and vice versa.
Only thing I don't like about it is that it does not allow us to rewind or fast forward flashcards. If I accidentally close the window, I have to start all over. I can't just jump to the word and phrase I want to hear again; I have to repeat the entire lesson.
Loving it so far. 5/5
I’ve never given a review on any app, but i am absolutely loving this app. I’ve always wanted to learn other languages & unfortunately i did not capitalize on that opportunity earlier in life. I highly recommend Busuu. I have not tried premium just yet, but i do have future plans to. Again love this app .
Great so far. Engaging and encouraging 5/5

Only been using this for 4 days learning spanish and it engages you and makes you flow with the language. A great app indeed.
Does not work at all 1/5
After downloading, I tried to click in 7-day Premium trial & every time I would get Oops, try again later. I tried to sign up for 1 month @ $9.99, same result. The only option that seems to be available is one-year premium option. That seems simply dishonest & disgusting. I deleted the app & will never use it again. I advise others to do the same. I’ll go back to Duolingo for now.

Not immersive enough 1/5
My biggest gripe with any language learning app is there is waaay to much English (my native language) in the lessons. This app is no different. It’s so much harder for my brain to go back and forth between two different languages, rather than just being immersed in one language and not having to go back and forth. This is the way we learn as babies and this is the way that works for me. The first 3 flashcards were 3 different new Japanese words and the 4th flashcard was an English question, “This means ___. True or False.” Nooooo. I just had one card telling me a word and then two other cards of two different words and now you’re quizzing me in English? Just no. And then the next card was a sentence in Japanese asking again in English, what did I hear. If I listen to the same word and see the pictures, that’s all I need. No English. No quizzing. Just speaking and listening. If I want a translator, then I worry more about reading and writing. I don’t want a translator. I want a program that actually teaches me a language first. The reading and writing come last. So far, there is only one application that comes close to this. At the very least, I wish there was a way in this app and many other apps to have the option to only speak and listen first.
This is a really good way to learn a language 5/5
I have had this app for a while, and nothing has helped more than this one with learning foreign languages.
Not for me 1/5
So, I started the trial and I liked busuu, but as I progressed through the program I found I needed to go back to previous lessons a lot, which isn’t very easy to do without interrupting and having to restart your current lesson. That made review pretty difficult. I also was dismayed at how quickly my “fluency” rating was increasing despite the fact I continuously needed to review old material. I finally felt I wasn’t really learning much. Plus, you aren’t really taught the written languages. The hiragana and katakana seem to be included incidentally, and kanji get thrown in randomly without explanation.
I hate to say this, but at least for me I found better resources Learn Japanese!!, Learn Japanese!-Kanji and Learn Japanese!!! seem to really be in tune with modern learning techniques, force you to review items you make mistakes on more often, and uses SRS review methods. You don’t need to know what SRS means, but it’s damned clever and really reinforces what you have learned.
Also, Anki is great for memorizing the Japanese alphabets, it’s REALLY important to learn those first if you are even a little bit serious about learning Japanese. I think busuu could really improve itself if it took a few pages from these other programs. If they did that, and I had a chance to review the program again, I would like the chance to delete this review and give them the stars I wanted to when I first downloaded the program.
What a fun app! 5/5
I’ve been trying to teach myself German for over a year, and I mainly utilize language apps like Duolingo, Lingvist and Memrise. This is app is very well thought out and fun! I especially appreciated the placement test at the beginning so I wasn’t forced to speed through the parts of the language I’ve already mastered.

Busuu is awesome for learning new languages and not only one
I live this app, the lessons are great very detailed and it gives you awesome tips. I've learned so much and I'm almost ready to have a average conversation with my grama who only knows Spanish. The only thing is you have to pay for the "better app" to be able to do a full lesson, with out paying you can only do about half of each lesson
Great app 5/5
It’s a great app and I’m learning French really fast.👍🏻 I love it!❤️
Love it! But most of the game is paid 3/5
More than half the content is blocked out unless you pay- most of the quizzes and the great social platform part are all blocked :( and unfortunately the price is pretty high. If you’re not already spending money elsewhere for classes it might be worth it?
I love it but/ me encanta pero.... 4/5
I love the app. I am studying English and I Am living in the United States about 15 years from now: and this app mostly has the UK accent and it's not easy to learn that accent ... well let's go to the point, it would awesome if you guys make an option for Only American English/. Chicos muy buena la app pero tienen mucho acento de los United Kingdom, y ese acento si vieran que difícil de aprender, ojalá algún día pueda aver opción de solo inglés Americano. Verdad ósea ustedes también se les hace más fácil.
Great app 5/5
At the age of 42 im learning a new language. But busuu has been making it easy and fun and I like that at end of each level you take test to see if what you’ve learned is sticking. I’m not a person that likes subscriptions but I’m doing it with busuu so they must be doing something right.
Addictive and helpful 5/5
Two weeks ago I knew only a handful of phrases of German that I’d memorized as a child. I have now worked steadily through the first level of Busuu German level one, taking copious notes, and I’m very pleased with all the vocabulary I have picked up, all the grammar I have mastered, and the friends from around the world I have made. I’m amazed at the complexity of the sentences I am able to construct within such a short time. Granted I devoted more time to it than would normally be possible. I have neglected some household chores and Facebook friends to study in every possible spare moment (before and after work).
It’s terrific to be part of an international learning community. I appreciate the input and enjoy helping others. It’s great to get tips and encouragement from native speakers. I’m also planning to brush up on my other languages sometime for fun. It’s nice that that you can learn more than one language with this method for no extra charge.
There is sufficient repetition of key concepts and vocabulary that they stick but not so much that it gets irritating. I think the pace is good. I think the concepts covered are good. I’d like to have learned some of them earlier (eg the endings of adjectives-which have not yet made an appearance) but it’s good to have that to look forward to. There’s a good balance of aural and written language.
All in all I’m very pleased with this app and would recommend it.
Es muy completo ,excelente en gramática y a mí me gusta muchísimo
I loved 5/5
I bought the premium package and it is an addictive practice of new languages. I enjoy learning every day, honestly was the best option.
Makes learning a new language fun! 5/5
Best language learning app in my arsenal of language apps.
Best app ever 5/5
This is the best language app I have gone through duolingo Rosetta but this is the best
It’s Okay, Not Great. 3/5
This is a good app. However, the option to upgrade to premium should be offered after a few uses of the app, not right away.
Loved this, until I didn’t. 5/5
This is a great idea, and a helpful community like no other. However, shortly after subscribing to a full year, I began to have tech issues on mobile. Busuu began to answer me on Facebook, and then simply told me to delete the app and download the new version. I did, same issues. And more. It’s becoming more unusable the more I try to do things. Also, even when fully functioning it does not allow for fixes of simple mistakes- such as downvoting when you mean to upvote, and similar things that are a result of touch screen snafus. I would really like the app to work again though, then I can edit to give this the review I feel it potentially deserves.
( Below is what I wrote to them in Facebook Messenger ) I can’t even write to them on their website, there is no customer service, so here goes:
Hello, the Busuu app has not been working for me since last night. I am unable to access my own exercise and see how people are correcting it. What can I do?
iPhone 6+ iOS 11.2.5 (I think) Busuu v15.2.1(4). I can log on. I just cannot access all features. For example, I was submitting an exercise to the community and the app crashed. Now people are correcting it, I am getting notices, but cannot link to the exercise to see it.
I was told by Busuu via Facebook messenger to delete the app and then download. I did. No difference. I’m kind of disappointed that this happened. I’m a new subscriber with a yearly subscription. I can’t return to read my own exercises once I submit and they are corrected. It’s frustrating.
Best linguistics app 5/5

If you really want to get good at speaking a foreign language, I'd recommend this app.
Like it a lot. 5/5
So far so good. Signed up for a year!!
Almost perfect 5/5
I’ve been using Busuu for a couple weeks now, after needing something with more grammar help than other apps such as Duolingo provide, so I turned to Busuu and found it so helpful that I got premium without a second thought. My favorite thing is that it pops up with the “here’s a tip” sections that teach you the grammar behind what you’re learning.
In fact, the only thing I would love to see change on the app is that we’d be able to access all of those “tips” in the review section, similar to how you can review vocabulary words. It is cumbersome to have to go back through all the individual lessons to review those.
Otherwise, this is the perfect app for someone who learns like I do, and I love the social aspect and being able to get feedback from native speakers.
Well done, Busuu. I only hope you will take the recommendation to add the grammar tips to the review sections.
I am in 8th grade and this is a great app! I have to take Spanish next year in high school so I love this app! I am getting prepared and I feel good about it!
