Helps a lot 5/5
It’s great for when you feel lonely or empty inside and they give you pro tips on self love and caring for yourself❤️
Amazing app 5/5
This doesn’t just help for self harm, it can help anxiety, and other things. I would highly suggest this app for anyone in need of distractions or coping techniques.
This is a good thing 5/5
This app may not be perfect. But I saw it on Facebook and decided to look throw it. Some of the options are things I have done to deal with anxiety. I feel like this app is defiantly not just for self harm but panic attacks too. Really like the idea behind this. I hope it does help many.
excited but upset 2/5
i saw this app today and was excited to try it! im still ready to explore it but cant get past the location page? i clicked US, submit and an error message popped up that says "location is required" a bug i guess wont let me actually submit and get into the app :((( im keeping the app as it looks very nice and helpful im just hoping a low rating may call attention to the bug! thank you 💙
Changed my life! 5/5
I started cutting myself about 5 months ago. I didn’t think it was that bad until my friend told me she cut herself and was getting a therapist. I knew I had to tell my mom. It was hard. I stayed up for a whole night thinking of what to do. I told my mom after school the next day. She was glad I told her and helped me. I went a week without cutting (hardest week ever). Unfortunately I started cutting again from stress. Then I found this app. It changed my life. I don’t know what I would do without it. I’m now 1 week without cutting. It may not seem like a lot but it is a big accomplishment for me. I just want to say thank you. This app is amazing.
Great design, could be generalized. 3/5
By I Think You Call Me Sexy
This is a great app with a lot of really positive features. I do wish that I could swap it more to panic attacks/anxiety versus self harm. I don’t self harm and really prefer not to have information and questions about it right in my face, so this makes me less likely to use the app.
It helps 3/5
By Turtles are fun
I’ve struggled with self harm for a little while, and it really does help. Having the several different activities really does help “ride the wave”. I’ve got a small problem with the newer update though, becuser it got rid of the random list. Instead taking you to a specified category and giving you a random option, I liked the random category so much more before this happened.
Pretty good concept with room for improvement. 4/5
My self harm is actually binge eating or snacking unecessarily. That being said this still seems to work a fair amount of time.
The suggested improvements:
•Needs Touch ID. Who has time to log in everytime?
•When it asks you to list things it would be nice to put like 20-30 blank lines that can be typed on. Coming up with a mental list actually stresses me bc it feels like a test where I need to remember my answers.
•How about a virtual dice or a virtual bubble wrap? It’s not entirely practical for me to keep things like that with me.
•How shout a diary section or a way to vent or type as an addd feature of “support” or “distract”?
Overall good app! Can’t wait to see it become a great app instead
Great but what about adults 4/5
I think that this is great and adults can totally use it but the activities aren’t always suitable for work or environments away from the home. Stem4 should duplicate this app focused towards adults who struggle with same and similar issues, expanding into adult anxieties.
this app is easy to use, helps you establish reasoning & logs when , why , and how you thought about it. i wish everyone had this app.
Thank You For This App!! 4/5

My friend suggested it to me after I told her about my depression and my tendencies to think about self harm. I’m really thankful she did. This app is helps a lot!
I just wish there was some sort of journal kind of thing, like to write down why you’re having the thoughts. It would be helpful for me, and probably others.
Just a suggestion though :)
I used this briefly to help my anxiety, this is a wonderful app. I really hope the creators make an app geared towards anxiety and depression.
the urge 5/5
depression is one of the worst things someone could have in their life. this app calms me down, helps me meditate and it does of well job of keeping me distracted from what puts me down. Thank you. I highly recommend this it will help you.
it's great 5/5
Even tho I don't self harm I do struggle to get things done bc of my anxiety and stress and the app was very calming and soothing , it deserves more recognition wallah
GREAT APP, Addressing password complaints 5/5
By Izzy. I
First off, this app has helped me so much and I am so grateful for it.
As for the whole password issues. Write it down in case you forget. Also when the urge to self harm isn't very strong, at least for me, the act of having to type in a password makes me stop and think long enough to be like "don't do this". But, I think it does have it's pros and cons.
No help at all 1/5
This app doesn’t work, don’t waste your time.
Love this app 5/5
Calm harm is a wonderful app that helps me “ride the wave” in a calming and easy way. It is so easy to use and I love how much thought was put into its creation. It feels like it was made to make the user feel comforted and heard, which is exactly what it does for me. ❤️
im a kid... 5/5
I feel like doing this all the time even though im just a kid...
Now maybe I shouldn’t be relying on an application to help me in any circumstance, but when I am feeling distraught and explosive, the last thing I have an ability to is remember a password or a “memorable word” maybe a thumbprint or a passwordless entry would be a better idea for someone like me who can’t even construct a sentence when they are feeling manic.
Almost there 4/5
This really helped me when I was feeling emotional. I don’t self harm but this did help, especially the breathing part.
The only thing is, I wish it could run in the background as you go do something else on your phone (for example one of the activities was making a music playlist on your phone) so you could actually do it.
Otherwise, this is a great app and also helps those who don’t self harm but do suffer from anxiety, depression, etc (myself included)
Great app, some bad ideas. 2/5

What if you can’t remember your memorable word? Ironic, yes, but there are those of us with poor memory who can’t remember what our word was when we first created the account Lord knows when. So when those of us with poor memory are struggling with anxiety or having suicidal thoughts and it is 3AM and you can’t get help because your parents will notice, can’t log into our accounts, then what? Not very calming when you can’t log in. Sure, “there’s other apps, try those”, “call the hotline” (already covered that one), or other suggestions are out there. However, I shouldn’t have to download another app to cover what this one is lacking in and the hotline isn’t an option right now for me. Also, some of us are college students who live with their parents that struggle with mental issues and this app is great for people like me. The forgotten password issue is a no-go for me.
I found it very confusing. You have to have a lot of concentration to complete the tasks. Not helpful for me.
Great start, some issues 3/5
Like many other reviewers I wish the app did not require a password. When I'm stressed enough to use the app I can't remember a password. I understand it's for privacy, but should be an option to toggle the password requirement on or off.
The app is directed at teenagers who self harm which I don't mind, but FYI I'm 49 and suffer severe anxiety and sometimes panic. I don't self harm. This app is going to have massive appeal to a much broader audience than the developers realize, because it's the first app to offer DBT distraction, calming and breathing techniques.
Most important of all... I'd love it if I could add my own custom notes to the app. For example, the list of 5 minute distractions is good, but let me add my own for future use, things that I know work for me.
Thanks so much for the app, it's great so far. I work in website and app development, so I hope my thoughtful feedback is useful making it even better for more people.
Too bare bones- hope they expand its features 2/5
I was excited to see this app because, even though I don't cut, I do engage in self destructive behavior when my anxiety is high. Unfortunately, my experience with this app wasn't all that helpful...at least in its current iteration.
Right now, it's mainly a countdown timer & a list of anxiety reducing activities. Which wouldn't be bad, except the majority of the activities can't be "performed" in-app.
For instance, quite a few 'wave' actions are things like naming capital cities or doing multiplication tables. Cool, but.. it would be SO much easier if there was a space to type them in on the app vs having to go find a pen and paper. (Don't try to switch to your notes app either, because you'll get logged out :-/ )
Other activities require that you gather one or more objects that aren't always readily at hand, and trying to remember if there's any bubble wrap in the house or where there might be a stray rubber band at 3AM when you're already amped up? Well, it's decidedly NOT anxiety reducing...Howsabout a piece of virtual bubble wrap? Or some other virtual fidget toy?
I'd also like to see them implement a small journal/note/emotion tracking feature, and some soothing music. (Like some wave sounds, for the wave counter).
Altogether, I didn't find this truly helpful-for me- but I'm hopeful that the developers will expand on its feature set.
Exactly what I needed 5/5
This app is amazing. I really need a distraction app that was more than just breathing exercises. Definitely recommend!!
Doesn’t sync 3/5
I like the app overall but I have it on my ipad and my phone and there is no way to link them together so in order to switch from my phone to my iPad I have to have 2 different profiles which is annoying cause I cannot accurately track my progress.

Can't get past the very first screen where you select your location. Says my location is incorrect and choose another one.
Great app! 5/5
Really knows how to help and reduce stress ! Has good advice
cannot open it 1/5
Even cannot open it...I don't know why! It crashed when I opened it.
Loved it! 5/5
Everyone should know about this app. I couldn't recommend it more; it's helped me a lot.
Activities in app 4/5
By add latin please
This app is really great! Personally, I just use it to calm down when I feel nervous or feel an anxiety attack coming on, but I've seen it work for lost of different people in lots of different situations.
My only suggestion is that in-app activities are added, not just suggestions of things for people to do on their own. I think adding that feature would make this app even better.
Not helpful. 1/5
This app caused my self harm incidents to increase.
I like this and I think it’s definitely helpful but something that could make it better is more interactive activities. For example naming Harry Potter characters right on the app instead of just the timer.
probably not going to see this but... 5/5
in the express yourself category i think you should have a text box or just an area where you can write your thoughts. i think this is a great app. i don’t really self harm but the coping skills help out with my anxiety
TIME WELL SPENT! 5/5
It’s amazing that you all have decided to try to help people who are in need and can’t speak up, or haven’t learned a healthier way to escape! I’m pleased to know that we have people who take the time to reach out and give a helping hand especially in today’s society thank you!
Extremely Helpful 5/5
As someone who has been struggling with Self Harm for a while, this app really helps me. It takes your mind away from harming yourself and onto the activity at hand. The only suggestion I have is maybe including some calming music, which tends to help people as well.
Low-pressure peace maker 5/5
Black-cat-audio on YouTube made a good review of this app and now I’m glad she showed me it.
Good App, some suggestions! 4/5
I saw this app on Twitter. I was looking for an alternative to some breathing based apps for winding down and then saw the distraction option for this app (and the breathing one). Thought it was an interesting concept even though I don’t physically self harm (I just overthink things). I know this is geared towards people who self harm but really it could be used for everyone at every age. I think it’d be helpful if you had different reasons to choose from why you’re using the app because the get help literature is excessive upon first use and kind of put me off a little bit. Also, it was giving an error when selecting location so I picked a different location and changed it later in settings. When people want help the last thing they need is an error screen. Otherwise, great app upon first use. Will return and hope for positive changes!
it’s a good app with a good concept in the fact it’s trying to help people from harming themselves but in my experience it doesn’t really work but oh well
Login one time 4/5
By R b numeral
I just got this app and it seems like it will be VERY helpful! This is my first comment on any app ever. I normally don't comment or review apps, but this one is important.
The one problem I have with this app is that each time you enter the app you have to login. I know that when I am an emotional/mental unstable place it can be difficult to think of things like passwords or I might need help a little faster than it takes me to remember a password and then type it in. I understand this is probably for privacy reasons, but maybe there can be alternative ways of logging in?
Otherwise this app is great and I am thankful it was created!
I can't thank you enough for this. I've been clean for 4 month and I couldn't have done it without this app. Also the "random" button is so great because usually when I use this app my mind doesn't work properly
Great App 5/5
It works to calm myself down. I do not suffer from self harm, but other mental illnesses. This helps me gain control.
i dont self harm, but i do have depression and, honestly this app is amazing. it helps calm me when im in a bad situation, and i just love it !
As a teen with BPD who was misdiagnosed for a longhorns time with depression, I've had to readjust to new coping skills because lots of coping skills and medicine doesn't help. This is an incredible app, really helps keep me from crying in public or taking my anger out on my loved ones. Thank you so so so much, cannot recommend enough!!!!!
Works for everyone 5/5
I don’t write reviews on apps. Ever. But this app is truly amazing and life changing. I haven’t ever self harmed but I have anxiety and depression and I get panic attacks that I can’t bring myself back down from. This app helps me ground myself and calm down. It feels powerful to have an app that I know will help me control myself in that panicked state.
I’m not one to write reviews but... 5/5
Exactly one month ago, I was hospitalized for 4 days in the psychiatric unit at my nearest hospital. One thing I wrote down on a survey while I was being discharged was “I wish there were more coping skills classes for self harm”. This app is truly exactly what I was looking for. It has helped tremendously. Thank you.
Amazing but has some flaws 4/5
It’s annoying to constantly have to log back into it. I don’t know if it’s just me or other people are having the same problem. Sometimes I forgot my password and memorial word and can’t get in for a while. I get it that it can be tracking you for improvements or something, but I think it should be something that you can just jump right into whenever you need it. Other than that though, it’s amazing and I really recommend it anyone who’s struggling with self harm or any other mental illness. It’s not given enough credit for the fact that it can also help with panic attacks, depressive episodes, bursts of anger, and simply something to keep you calm.
Crashes as soon as I open the app
Thank you 5/5
To whoever made this, thank you.
WORKS ON ANYTHING AND ANYONE (mostly) 5/5
I literally don’t have the urge to self harm but I still use this app because it works on all sorts of situations like boredom, depression or just relaxation. The icons, colors, and format of the Calm Harm is just sooooooo beautifully designed. I definitely recommend this!
