Calm app reviews

  • NOT FREE 1/5

    By Tdawson24
This app says free, but after downloading and entering personal info, ONE single thing is available. I understand there are in app purchases, but there is nothing to try and inspire me to purchase, as there is nothing to listen to apart from one story. I basically gave them info for free 🤷🏻‍♀️ kinda shady approach if you ask me.
  • Can’t turn off phone 1/5

    By staceymchapman
If you open the app and then turn the screen off, the app doesn’t work. I want it to be able to calming with the screen off. I’ve seen other apps do it
  • How calming 5/5

    By rdc5n
Great meditations, both daily and longer programs. Great for reducing stress in every day life.
  • Only 1 day free? 2/5

    By FluffyMama
I did day 1 and liked it enough to want to try again for day 2. But it was locked, and I was directed to purchase the premium subscription. I would have purchased if it was a one time, $4.99 or something but $12.99 a month?? Sheesh, no thanks.
  • Needs improvement 2/5

    By robtaywey
The app has good features but the meditations themselves aren’t very guiding or detailed enough. Also their should be different voice options as the lady makes it hard for me to relax. Also disappointed that I didn’t cancel my free trial and was automatically charged for the year and couldn’t undo this. YouTube has better medications for free.
  • Pricing 1/5

I’d even pay monthly for this app but 60 bucks to commit to a year of having it is ridiculous, it makes it sort of inaccessible to a lot of people.
  • Calm 4/5

    By mariemcat
It’s great, but listening to the 7 day it was peaceful but I could not hear the person as well as I would of liked. The back ground was overpowering her voice
  • Worth it for sleep stories alone! 5/5

    By ksm928
I've had to medicate myself to get to sleep for a very long time. I tried this app and loved the stories. I decided to splurge on the premium features (I rarely spend money on apps) and see how it went. That was a year ago and I just renewed my subscription. I plan on making better use of the meditation portions this year. The sleep stories are wonderful though and I would happily pay for this app for just that! Lots of different story readers to choose from so you know you'll find a voice that relaxes you. I can now sleep without sleeping aids! It's wonderful! Thank you!!!
  • Love it! 5/5

I really like this app. Only wish I had discovered it sooner!!
  • Really?! 1/5

    By Cat And Kids Lover
Look I know people are desperate for money but this is just sad. - I’m a 13 year old who struggles with anxiety and ADHD. Even though I’m on a high dosage of medication, I am still all over the place and find myself constantly overwhelmed, or stressed. When I downloaded this app I thought it would be an amazing app where I could do more than just teach meditate lessons but also listen to sleep music, stories and just relax. However the app that I downloaded wasn’t what I thought. You only get one or two free stories, music and focus! - I understand people make a living off of these apps but for a meditation app where people are benefiting their health, I was honestly hoping that I could get more out of this app for free. You could just sign up for real meditation classes since it’s about the same cost for the actual features. I was really hoping for more 😢
  • Amazing 5/5

    By the most relaxing app
It’s the most relaxing app I have ever used
  • Thinking 5/5

It’s as if some higher being knew that I needed this today !!! Enjoyed and has some break thru of obsessive thinking . Thank you !! 🙏
  • Great app! 5/5

    By Pem459
I really like this app. If you take the time to regularly use it, you really start to feel a more overall sense of calm throughout your days. It’s subtle but it’s there and very valuable!
  • I love it. 5/5

    By Angidoll89
If you are looking for very helpful guidance in an easy to use app, this is it. I didn’t do the full access but what I can use lasts for weeks on end and is vey specific to your personal growth needs. I’ve never felt better after trying this app out.
  • Trial Period 5/5

    By Lexi78
I did the 7 days of Calm and I am only in Day 5. I absolutely love it! While I have tried a few other meditating apps, I have to say this one is my favorite. I came to the conclusion that I prefer instructed meditation (as I had no clue what to do). Highly recommend this app and will end up purchasing a year subscription.
  • Can’t use it unless you pay for it 1/5

    By Ablillymom95
I had no clue this was a subscription required app when I downloaded it. The pictures make it seem like you can do everything for free, but you can’t. You can’t listen to music, only one of the stories is unlocked, and the meditate function isn’t even available unless you pay $12.99 a month or $60 a year. It’s just not worth it to me when I already have four monthly subscriptions for tv, music, radio, and reading. Please put in the description that you can hardly use the app unless you pay for it every single month. Thanks! ✌🏻
  • Love it, has helped me so much 5/5

    By RoAnne23
I have anxiety, depression, and nerve pain (peripheral neuropathy). Plus lots of regular life stress with family, work. Downloaded this app after trying out another one referred by a friend. That didn’t work as well for me. Was drawn to Calm because of the soothing background options. Used sporadically at first, now I use it in the morning regularly, and at night if I can. At night I like inner peace and self-care meditations. The sleep stories are the best. I have disturbed sleep and wake up around 3 or 4 am. Instead of staying up overthinking and in pain for hours like I used to do, I listen to the nightly sleep story. Now I fall back to sleep within minutes and don’t get to finish the whole story. Favorites so far have been Bob Ross and Sleeping Beauty read by Nick Viall from The Bachelor.
  • The best investment I’ve ever made 5/5

    By Lisar179
I’ve been using this app for several months now. I actually see a difference in myself. Others do too. Practicing the daily meditation and listening to a bedtime story at night has made me so much calmer, reduced so much stress. I’m thinking more clearly and life seems so much less chaotic. Wonderful!
  • Wonderful. 5/5

    By JR8627
I especially like the topics of self-help meditation and I am in love with master classes with these master classes I have not only learned more about food cravings subconscious eating and things like that then I think I have ever heard from anybody or read from any other book the people who have given these classes are wonderful I have even gone out and bought their books my daughter and my son have also learned to use this as meditation to keep them selves calm before bed and to use Calm with a heavy or stressful day like testing it has helped my family thank you Calm.
  • Too expensive 1/5

    By crinkster54
There is virtually zero free content in this app. So disappointing. At about 60 bucks, it’s way too expensive for me, even though I would really, really love to have it. It’s a shame because I know it could help me. I wish there was a discount for first-time subscribers. There is a free seven day trial but if you don’t cancel within that time you’re automatically charged for a year. I simply can’t take that chance. I have bipolar disorder and suffer from extreme stress and anxiety and exhaustion. I’m also on disability. So there is no money for something like this which could help me.
  • $60?!?!? Forget it. 1/5

    By mambabyte
There is no way in hell I can rationalize paying $60 a year or $13 a month for this. You can’t even try it out. I was looking forward to this app too but no way. Maybe a one time fee with extras but a subscription? No.
  • Perfect 💕! Helps me a lot! 5/5

    By ashlynbrooks
This app is very helpful with everything. Helps me relax and think less 💯
  • Very expensive after upgrade 1/5

    By LT2007
I used this on and off for a few years to do a 5 minute body scan, but after a “performance upgrade” this is now premium and $50 a year!!! Seriously, that is exorbitant. I would have paid a few dollars for a simple app, but this is too much.
  • Don’t get it 1/5

    By king kufu
So I saw an ad for this and thought “hey, this is definitely for me!”. Downloaded app and tried to listen to music and the app would not allow it at all unless I signed up for a free 7 day trial. Dumped the app...what a bunch of BS.
  • Disappointed 1/5

    By HisQueen17
A Dr recommend this app. I was excited to start using it. It’s was going to help me with many things. However it’s not free as describe so it’s completely useless😏
  • Best app ever 5/5

    By lindsayroberts
Best use of my phone space, best use of my time. My kids love it at home, my students love it at school. Calm is absolutely wonderful and my life is better for it! Thanks guys!
  • Upsetting Home Screen update 5/5

    By NCMaggieD
5/20/18 Company responded promptly and explained how to change Home Page. Very pleased! I have changed my rating to 5 stars. Previous post: I am a subscriber and have loved this app primarily for the Sleep Stories. CALM has, however, recently changed the Home Screen to an animated fireplace complete with fire crackling sounds. Having been the victim of my own and recently my neighbors house fire, both in the middle of the night and both horrible experiences, the last thing I want to see before sleep is FIRE! I have sent them a note through their Help section to see if I can change the home page. I will update this review if a solution can be found.
  • Disappointing and misleading 2/5

    By ashleyashley2005
Although downloading the app is free there is only two things that you can listen to without paying $54 a year.
  • Calm 5/5

    By Whoopey
Love it! Particularly the Bedtime stories. They are soothing and relaxing.
  • 1st Session 5/5

    By DRE.T
LOVE IT SO FAR!!! Look forward to the journey of mindful meditation 👏🏾🙂
  • Watch out 1/5

    By Natsh125
I downloaded the program to check it out and didn't use it. I didn't even creat an account, then I was surprised that after few days they took $59.99 from my iTunes account without asking or any kind of authorization. Watch out its automatically set to subscribe you for a whole year.
  • Anxiety 5/5

    By Retailtherapist1
Lovely voice the narrator has which is very helpful to relaxation process.
  • Work in progress 2/5

    By LanaOak
All of the meditations are by the same person and recorded in the same voice. This voice and style doesn’t suit me, so i prefer Insight Timer, which has a more broad variety of content. I also felt like the content here was more of a self-help talk, less of a meditation. Lots of positive words, but too much about thinking rather than just being. The design is also very colorful and loud, which personally I find more distressing than relaxing. Bottom line: everyone has different tastes, so you should definitely try this app and see if its for you. It’s just not for me at all.
  • Okay 3/5

    By Kiite
The app it self is very innovative, creative, and useful if you have $60 to spend a year. Like I said before the app itself is great but it’s really only useful if you buy premium which is a bit aggravating because I’d like to enjoy an app without spending money. It’s a good idea but there are 20,000 more apps that do this and for free. Also; if you have an Alexa of any sort I’d just enable the skill “mindfulness” it does the same thing but better and for free! Besides with the money you spend on this app yearly you could buy an Alexa dot which is literally everything this app does and a lot more.
  • Don’t be fooled 2/5

    By emb041
Seems nice, but nearly everything is locked until you purchase a premium membership. Even the ones that are unlocked (started a 7 days of managing stress) and not until day 2 do I find out I have to subscribe to hear the rest. Unless you’re willing to pay $60, look elsewhere.
  • Great app 5/5

    By Tika1
I really love this app. I looked forward to going to bed. I can't afford the app so I listened to Blue Gold and Waterfall - free. They took Waterfall away and I'm so disappointed! I listened to that for maybe a month and half and Never made it through the story. Or Blue Gold for that matter! Now I'll never know what the sound was or anything about the waterfall. Did the girl get home? I'm so disappointed! Lower your price by half and I'll buy it.
  • You need this! 5/5

    By M.V.P1985
So far I have only used the free stuff, but it’s awesome. The upgrade is only $50/year but I haven’t had the money. I do intend on purchasing the upgrade once I can afford it. It’s very helpful when learning to meditate and become more mindful.
  • What is this 5/5

    By copper dad
Lost in the world, struggling with daily challenges physical and emotional. I have stumbled my way back to the daily calm. I hope I find the desire and need to become a child of wonder again. With this simple practice I feel a new!
  • Don’t get it unless..... 1/5

    By mr.$gamer$
Don’t get it unless you have money to buy monthly.
  • Yet another surrender access and money BS scheme 1/5

    By Sleeper53
I don’t care how relaxing your app is. Stop following this schematic of make money and make users sign in with Facebook or email. Not long ago, you could download an app and simply use it. And then it was maybe a few bucks to continue. Now the first thing I see is $60, give us your Facebook or email. Yeah....not happening. Money hungry degenerates. Hyenas.

  • Favorite App for busy Parent - Kids love it too 5/5

    By jennsund
I love this App! The 7 day formats are effective for managing stress. My kids and I look forward to hearing a sleep story every night. It has helped them sleep better too. Keep up the good work:)
  • Scam..... starts free trial with no way to cancel 59.99 purchase 1/5

    By IndigoPapersnob
I am willing to pay for apps. Not willing to be tricked into paying for apps. I saw a free version with in app purchase. Logged in to be immediately told this is a seven day trial with a 59.99 fee that must be correctly cancelled. No way to opt out at this point. Never found the way to turn off the subscription. Spent the last hour trying. Shame on Apple and Calm for the misleading user experience.
  • Stress release gold 5/5

    By psych4evr99
I’m currently a pre med student who just graduated college! That means I’m studying for the MCAT (Medical College Admissions Test), working part time, feebly trying to keep a social life, and make sure my family is well tended too. This app is really helping me relax at the end of a long day or prepare to start a new one! I’d recommend this to anyone feel overwhelmed!
  • Subscription Options? 4/5

    By wcbluegrass
I have had the free version of this app for some time now and genuinely enjoy it. The stories are nice for someone like me: I have trouble completely shutting my brain off at night, but I don’t want to listen to an audio book (for fear of losing my place), and I don’t want to sleep with the television on. The stories are relatively short and meant to get you gently from paying attention, to not really processing, to sleep. The only issue I am having is that I can’t find the monthly auto-renew option in the App Store. I have already signed up for the free trial and I just don’t know if I want to commit to $60 right this second. Calm - can you offer any help here? Thanks so much!
  • Life Changing 5/5

    By EmmyJane33
If you’ve been putting off meditation, but you’re checking out this app, I encourage you to make the move. I am calmer, I am less anxious and “in my head”, I am kinder, more patient. I’m a better human and a much better parent because of this app. Meditation and mindfulness is now (thankfully) a part of my life. Give it a try, and be patient with yourself!
  • Expected more for the price 2/5

    By rubychaffee
I primarily use it for sleep meditation. I do not care for the stories. It has had the same three meditations for sleep since I purchased the app months ago. I really thought there would be more variety. I understand the purpose is to teach you how to meditate So maybe I paid $40 for the wrong app but I was hoping for more than what I got.
  • Seriously? 1/5

    By lauren1047
Anything that you go on for day 2 is locked and has to be purchased. Which is kinda annoying for something that is “free”. Like some things I get you have to pay for but I didn’t expect to go on for day 2 and have to pay if I wanted to continue. Just kinda sneaky.
  • What is this? 3/5

    By MarionMurphy
It gave me mixed feelings and confusion.
