App is great but ads are killing it. 2/5
Out to dinner with the family and trying to look up dishes to dose our T1D toddler right now. About a week or so ago, we started getting full page ads in this app and you can’t skip them, stuck on screen for 30 seconds each. I’m fine with banner ads but locking my screen for half a minute is not okay. And removing ads is a monthly subscription, not a one-time purchase like almost every other developer out there? Come on. Doing quick meal math went from taking just a minute to taking over 5-6 minutes just to add up one dish. Everything else about the app is great but the ads are out of control.
Search doesn’t work 1/5
Why won’t the search work? Worthless without it. Goodbye
Top Notch! - Updated Review 5/5
They have the carbs back in the app! This is now my “go-to” app recommendation for patients in the T1DM community. Thanks guys! Keep up the great work!
Used to like this app 1/5
I used to like this app. Now I get advertisements after every item I look up. Multiple advertisement in the 2 minutes in the app. Only way to avoid is with a monthly subscription. How about a one time fee? I’d do that.
Hate the Ads 3/5
I use this app for my diabetic daughter and when I need to switch foods quickly, the ads do not clear quickly. I think it’s terrible of you to charge $12 a year to remove the ads. Your app is used mostly for health reasons, not entertaining. A $12-$20 lifetime should be good enough for you.
I’m a t1d persond
The best 4/5
This is the best thing on my phone its so useful and it helped me a lot and saved a lot of time thank you so much for making such thing
You guys are the best
Carbohydrates are back, thanks. 5/5
A must have for T1D. Thanks for putting the carbohydrates back into the app.
The one request I have is that it be released for android as well.
Carbs fixed 5/5
Thanks!!!! I rely on this app daily!
Almost perfect. 4/5
The information from the app is super-helpful but the last update is annoying. Every time I search, find and adjust the information from my search the keyboard stays in place, making it difficult to see the information. Otherwise, great job!
What happened to the carb counts? They’re back - back to 5 stars 5/5
*** Edited: Thank you for listening and returning the carb counts.***
I have been using this app for nearly a year to help with carb counting for my son who has type 1 diabetes. I was very disappointed in the latest update when carb counts were removed from the detailed nutrition information. This has rendered the app essentially useless for me.
Carbs are back 5/5
Thank you for correcting the carb issue!!! I appreciate Calorie King for all of he help I get for my granddaughter’s T1 diabetes. It is hard to do some of the counting without this app!! Keep up the great work!!
New Version NO CARB COUNTS! 5/5
I have waited for Foods / Beverages Update. No Carbs Counted Now. I will just delete~ no value to me now. Plan to Add Carbs Info? Update! 01/25/2018 the Carb Info is Back! Thank You! Now 5 Stars Plus!!!
Great app 5/5
I love this app for carb counts for my Type 1 Diabetic son.
***Updated review! Thank you!! 5/5
When my daughter was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, Calorie King was the app suggested to us by her doctors. It has been our go-to app for carb counts. Thank you for fixing the carb-less bug so fast!! Other apps just don’t work for us as well as this one.
Updated Review...01/24/18.. What did you do Calorie King? 5/5
Update 01/24/18! Thank you CalorieKing for seeing the era of your update and fixing the problem with the carbohydrate count , that 100% of all type one diabetic‘s and parents of type one diabetic‘s use this app for! You are now a five star app in my household My wife and I once again love this App!
My wife and I loved this app! It has been so helpful for us. We have a beautiful daughter with Type 1 Diabetes. It’s been a great tool to research carbohydrates for foods she eats. However since the update yesterday 01/19/2018 we now are experiencing pop ups and we are getting solicitations to pay for this app monthly for no advertising. Now we cannot research carbohydrates for foods or even customize serving size for the foods our daughter eats. This is very disappointing. Until Calorie King fixes this problem we cannot recommend this app!
Thank you for bringing back the carb option 5/5
By Anila Ponari
Thank you for bringing back the carb option ,,, I wouldn't know how to count the carbs for my son which has type 1 diabetes ,,,I'm happy for fixing it lately ,,, thank you again ,,, 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Where did the carb count go???? EDITED: carbs fixed now counts wrong if you are choosing anything besides default serving size. Another update?
***Updated review. 5/5
Thank you for fixing the carb counting ability! We use your app everyday! We will definitely recommend this apps to others!
We have been using this app to help our Type 1 diabetic son with his carb counting. After the update, the ability to calculate carb counts for food IS GONE! This app is useless now for us. This app was specifically recommended to us by my son’s endocrinologist. I will be letting them know on Monday to STOP recommending it to their patients! Please put the carb counting back!
Super Responsive 4/5
Ive used and trusted calorie king for years to help manage my type 1 diabetes. The information provided in the app is invaluable in my daily struggle to keep my sugar “normal”.
There have been a few bugs lately that have caused me concern BUT I am happy to say that I reached out to the CalorieKing support team and they have addressed the issues within a day.
Thanks for your help and for your commitment to as much accuracy as nutrition facts can provide.
CalorieKing gets used dozens of times a day in our house and we have found it invaluable in calculating carbs for food. And the programmers are responsive to support questions.
As much as we use it the annual subscription fee was a no brainer. The CK people deserve it.
Back On Top! 5/5
Calorie King, I believe there are many people in the T1D community who under valued your contribution to our everyday function. This is true for me and my family. Instead of valuing your silent assistance in our everyday struggle to manage an organ that science/Mother Nature used to handle for us, we seem to introduce ourselves when the opportunity to “sound off” presents itself. While I was blown away that carb counts were removed from your app (I believe in error), you properly responded with a expedient repair. Simply, thank you, and you now have my five star rating that you should have had from me on December 16, 2016 when our 7 year old daughter was diagnosed with T1D and when we were introduced to your app by our daughter’s endocrinologist.
Latest update 5/5
By T1DThor's mom
Sooo this app is definitely a 5 star, but the latest update took away the carb counts on the portion where you can enter different amounts. My son has Type 1 Diabetes and his life saving insulin amounts are based on carb counts. I love this app and will be devastated if it does not work again with carbs. Please fix this ASAP!
Fix carbs!!?? 3/5
By T1D mtn mama
I have used this app almost daily for my diabetic son for a year and loved it but suddenly the carbs information is not being supported since the update...???!!!
We hope you will please correct this issue ASAP. It has been a helpful resource when life throws you a curveball called diabetes!
Can't remove iPad keyboard 4/5
By Der Golem
Whether it's landscape or portrait, when I change the serving size, I can't figure out how to collapse the keyboard.
Other than that, this is a great app.
THANK YOU!! 5/5
Awesome app update! Thank you for fixing the issues. Truly a lifesaver for our family when counting carbs for my type 1 diabetic child.
Great reaction to Customer feedback! 5/5
Thank you for adding the sliding carb count back into your app so quickly!!!!
Completely useless now! 1/5
Used this app in the past for diabetic daughter. Useless without carb info. Will be looking for another app now!
Thanks for showing carbs! 5/5
Back to essential app for managing diabetes with carbs now being displayed again.
Needs CARB count!! 5/5
The latest review has somehow removed the carb values from all of the portion sizes. I am a diabetic and use this app all the time to calculate the amount of carbs in certain serving sizes of food. The only thing that matters to a type 1 diabetic is the amount of carbs in a serving size of food. The amount of insulin needed is based on a carb to insulin ratio.
Please add the carb amount for any serving size back into the main food screen. It is no longer there!
Btw, with the carb count added back as in the previous version, I give this app 5 stars.
Carb count has been quickly added back to the app! Great work!
UPDATED: Carbohydrates back! 4/5
Thank you for fixing the carbohydrate details in your latest update!
Carb count removal *UPDATED 5/5
By Sugarbaby Mom
ETA: Thank you for fixing the removal of the carb counts so quickly. This has always been our go to app to treat our daughter. So glad we’re able to use it once again!
We used to use this app all the time to help calculate carb counts for my T1D daughter. Now that you do not include this information, it’s completely worthless. It was recommended by our endocrinologist and we were give the hard copy book for home. Very disappointed.
Need to find a new app 1/5
This was my go to app for counting macros.
How do you get rid of carbs??????? That’s crazy.
Where did the carb count go to after update 5/5
I don’t like the new app, the carb count is missing and is very much needed info. I use this app to help me control my type 1 diabetes and weigh my food, but now it doesn’t show carbs based off the weight, it did before the app updated. Please add this back, please.
Revised rating of 5 stars now that the Carb count is back on the app, thank you for all the work, this is very helpful for us type 1 diabetics that are on a carb ratio. This is very helpful to my 15 year old type 1 and myself, thanks again.
Unstable application - recently lost carb counts! 1/5
Too many bugs and software defects for reliable use
Where did the carb counts go?? 1/5
As a mother of a child with Type 1 Diabetes, I use your app multiple times a day to calculate her carb intake. Please bring back the carb counts!
Carb count fixed! 5/5
I originally gave the last update 1 Star because it no longer had the carb count feature. That has been quickly fixed and the new update makes this a great app again!
Complete failure 1/5
$1.49 a month to get rid of ads.
Then you released a major update WITHOUT carbohydrate info. We are parents to a Type 1 and have relied on the old app to calculate carb ratios. Or even your physical book they gave us in the ER.
Wait, wait, wait. You expect me to subscribe to your app that completely failed at the most basic level? Did you even QC your release?
Awful after update 1/5
The app is all kinds of buggy after the recent update. It can’t calculate carbs correctly at all. They really ruined a great app. So long, Calorie King.
NEW UPDATE ERROR 01/2018 1/5
You guys should be less concern about making money with adds with the new upgrade because the whole formula on the counts are wrong. Your developers literally butcher the whole concept of the app. Smh 🤦🏾♂️
Took away carbs in the latest update 5/5
We have been using this app as it is a literal life saver to decode how many carbs are in certain foods. We need this info for our daughter who is T1. Please bring back the carbs totals.
UPDATE: The bug has been fixed thank you so much for this excellent resource.
Unhappy with the upgrade 1/5
By jt1d mom
They no longer have carbs in their nutrition facts and took away half of their items weights or size amount! Not helpful for diabetics!
Where’s the carb count?!?! 4/5
Use this app everyday to check carb counts for my son’s diabetes. Updated the app and the carb total is gone from the details screen. Did I miss something or is a field mislabeled?
UPDATE: developer fixed this issue promptly. Thanks!!!
I recently was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and used this for carbohydrates, once the new update came out the carbs were gone. I would pay for this app to have carbohydrates back and so would my mom. Please, if you could get the carbohydrates back that would be wonderful.
No point in having it now 2/5
By J Marcel
Either I overlooking or the carbs have been removed from the app. I use the carbs nutritional data to count carbs and calculate units of insulin. This is frustrating.
What happened to the carbohydrate counts? 1/5
I used to use this app almost daily to determine carbohydrate counts for insulin coverage. With the most recent update to the app, the carbohydrates have disappeared and are no longer listed. Whah a shame! I’ll be looking for a new app.
What? Carbs disappeared! 1/5
By I'm mostly love the app
Knowing the macros is far less useful if it’s an incomplete picture. Carbs used to be in the nutrition content but only recently it mysteriously disappeared. If I have to go elsewhere to find the carbs, then this app is no longer useful. Otherwise I used to love its simplicity to use.
You robbed us of carbs in the new version!!!! 1/5
We use Calorie King for our T1D 5 year old daughter. The newest version doesn’t let you see the carbs by whatever conversion you want to cook with! This makes calorie king useless for diabetics. An example is granulated white sugar. We don’t cook with cubes or in oz. in the US so this is basically useless. Please bring back the carb counts that are life saving for millions of diabetes!!!!!!!!!
Great for our daughter's diabetes care 4/5
By WASD.tv Chad
I just did the newest update yesterday and for some reason the app is no longer showing carbs. I checked the same items on my wife’s phone (not updated) and it showed carbs. We use this for my diabetic daughter and were wondering what happened.
This app came highly recommend by the hospital staff when my daughter got recently diagnosed with type one diabetes and I can see why. It is easy to use and gives the user many size and unit options which is awesome. The only thing I wish it did was save favorite items so I don't have to type it in each and every time. It may also be useful to keep track of total carbs eaten in a meal to make insulin calculations a breeze. But other than that, it is a great and very useful application. Thanks for making my daughter's diabetes care easier. I have no idea how parents did this back in the day before the Internet and smart phones!
Where did the carbs go? 1/5
Useless to me without carbs
