Massive waste of time 1/5
Search filters not nearly specific enough but more importantly seems to be a graveyard of inactive profiles. I posted a job ad and also direct messaged approximately 200- yes two HUNDRED people with almost no responses except a handful telling me things like their profile was 3 years old. I had searched for recently active members who lived nearby and loosely matched availability. I have to have childcare and was spending hours per day on here with my paid membership. They then blocked me for a couple days for too many contacts. So frustrating! Switched to a different one and started getting quick responses and hired someone in 2 days. This was my third try with this site. Never again.
Date night 5/5
Wonderful! Couldn’t have had a better out of town date night sitter!
Care.com is our Go To... 5/5
Care.com is excellent for keeping in touch with my Client Families. As a Care provider Care.com keeps me in jobs and gives my families a quick and reliable communication tool. It’s our Go To!!
Not an effective app AT ALL 1/5
By Family of 4 Kids
This service did not work well for me and I’m completely dissatisfied with it... 80% of the care givers don’t respond and the other 20% of the caregivers are always booked.
You have to pay for background services as well as other things it’s just overall not affective.... I’m so dissatisfied because I paid for it and attempted to use it just to come up with nothing....
Babysitter not very responsive 3/5
While I have found some great people on Care, the majority of sitters that I reach out to do not respond. They never each check the message. There are other babysitting sites out there were the sitters are much more responsive. Those sites also do a better job of marking sitters that have a tendency to not respond.
Unable to post job 1/5
Keep getting an error that says “Job description must be 850 characters or less” even though my description is less than 550 characters. Not impressed at all so far.
Care does not care!! 1/5
Treats people horrible
Don’t do business with them
Unless your ok with anyone able to write anything about you on your profile
And there customer service is horrible
does not have to be true they will just close you account
They don’t care about evidence or to get to the bottom of a issue they just want to be done with a situation
To caregivers and families!
Very frustrating 1/5
I get applicants who will say yes to everything but never show up. Once I received one who came for one day tryout accepted the job and never responded or showed up again. Great app idea but very unprofessional applicants. REALLY wish this app will have more filters so we get professional people who TRULY want and need the job.
Closing Account and Refunds don’t happen 1/5
Extremely frustrated that they make it practically impossible to close your account or cancel your subscription.
Do Not Purchase! 1/5
I made the mistake of buying the premium package. Once we found a nanny we tried canceling our subscription and error messages kept coming up. We just got charged $39.99 and now I can finally cancel, or so I hope. I contacted Phillip in customer support and he told me there was nothing they could do.
Use another app! The quality of applicants are terrible anyways. We ended up finding a family member.
Ok but buggy 3/5
It’s nice to have access via an app but this app can be a bit quirky. For example, it sent a “no thank you/declined” message to an application that I didn’t send. And it sent it about 8 times. So the app itself is buggy but the existence of the app is appreciated 😆
Mobile app is real good 5/5
Care app is our go to place whenever we need backup care. Weve used quite a few providers through care and would recommend the annual plan. There are always 20-30% off coupons you can find on google.
They made me subscribe in order to reply to inquiries and I did for a month, and I still can’t reply or even see the message from the girl. I’m so frustrated. I paid for this service and I didn’t get it. I’d like my money back please.
Scam with fake applicants luring people into paid subscriptions 1/5
Received “Applicants” to my submission which then lured me into paying for a premium membership so I could see their messages only to find they were not real applicants and the messages were just gibberish. What a scam!
A scam? 1/5
I got the app to try to find a nanny for my kids. I was able to post a job and within a day had 15 people respond. I was able to only see 4 of their messages to me. The rest I had to pay 40 a month for the upgrades to see. I scheduled interviews with the four and only one showed up. So after that I figured I needed a babysitter and I would pay the 40 to look over the other applicants. I since then have set up more interviews (11) and everyone that has happened so far has not shown up. I don’t feel like it’s coincidence that so many just don’t show up with no explanation. I’m starting to feel like this app and site is just a scam.
Pay monthly?? 1/5
Ripoff!! I liked to use this app to find a job or caregiver but now I have to pay so expensive monthly? No more care.com for me. I will find other app or better way for free.
By babs ba
It’s the worst app to look for a job.
They make you pay in order to use care. Some people don’t have any means of income but they expect you to pay. If you’re lucky enough someone will respond back once you’ve applied to a job. I’ve spent months and months on this site and I haven’t landed one job. Not even one respond from the jobs I’ve applied to. Hate it!
NO RESPONSES 1/5
Basically a waste of time and money. Care.com needs to somehow monitor the ads that are posted. There are tons of ads and I've responded to many. The messages show when the person who posted the ad reads it and a week later they still haven't been read. It's misleading. You are able to read all the ads and then decide if you want to pay in order to communicate with the families that are searching for a nanny, so I payed. And NOBODY reads or responds to messages. Are you kidding me? You should have a certain amount of time to read and respond to people's messages or your ad will be deleted. WHY have an ad posted needing a nanny and never respond. Ridiculous. Care.com needs to address this issue.
Membership Too expensive 1/5
Too expensive. We contacted a few baby sitter and none was available or respond.
Watch out!!!! 1/5
I picked the one time payment option and this company continued to bill me monthly!!!! Apparently this is a huge issue when you look them up on google. There are hundreds of complaints and the company is impossible to get a hold of. Only email where they tell you there is nothing they can do!!!! Watch out! I will never sign up with them again!!!
Not user friendly 1/5
I used this app a couple years ago to find babysitting and nanny jobs. Now that I want to find a babysitter for my family I can’t switch over to do that. Every time I hit the help button it says my email isn’t set up so I can’t get any advice.
The app is fine, except most caregivers flake when you set up an interview and others just stop responding halfway through a convo.
Care.com Keeps Charging for Cancelled Subscription! 1/5
I cancelled my subscription four months ago, again three months ago, spoke to a Care.com rep last month who said it would be taken care of and I see the charge is again withdrawn from my checking account this month. I’m on disability and only purchased one month with no renewal. That was also wasted money as the people I interviewed and “hired” never showed up and didn’t bother to call and cancel. Not just once or twice, but SIX different woman and literally hundreds of no call backs from Care.com referrals in my area. Wasted time. Wasted money. Extremely upset and still being charged for no service!!
The new app won’t let me log in or anything. It’s useless. I have to check my profile online.
This site is exactly what we needed! 5/5
This is a wonderful, well put together, user-friendly website! It works perfect for what we need.
Waste of money. 1/5
I’m a nanny trying to get in contact with a family in a nearby small town, the only people in care.com within a 35 mile radius. When I signed up, I was allowed to send my application to them for free, which I thought was great since I didn’t want to pay the subscription fee just for the once application. I checked my messages to see if they had responded and I was alerted that in order to allow them to respond, I need to purchase a subscription.
Also, I made an account when I was 16 stating that I wanted to be a housekeeper. It wouldn’t allow me to apply to be a nanny or a babysitter and I couldn’t change it, so I had to create a new account.
I get that care.com might be useful if you live in a bigger city. But it is absolutely not useful if you live in a small town. I’d be willing to pay $5-$10 for a one-time fee, but I’m not going to pay $20 when I’m in a small enough town where I can just find the family on Facebook and contact them that way.
Edit: sucked it up and bought the waste of $20 membership. Messaged 3 people looking for nannies, two of them were new (they both had created accounts that day). No messages back. A couple of days later, I click on their profiles and it says their profile was deleted. So I’m assuming they created their just profile like I had done, realized they can’t message people without a membership, and then deleted their accounts. Could this be any more frustrating? What a waste of my time and money.
Don’t waste your money 1/5
By Lauren Casebolt
Wonderful idea but way overpriced. I was looking for an after school sitter a few days a week. I was hesitating about paying $40 for a membership but figured there must be a good amount of sitters for them to be able to charge that amount. I only had 3 applicants, 1 wanted $25 an hour (with zero experience 😂), the other candidate set up and interview and never answered her phone and the last candidate couldn’t even fill out all the information on her profile. I reached out to support for a refund but they stated they are unable to refund any of the membership fees. So here I am $60 down the drain (I paid for background checks too) and no sitter 😫! Save your time and money!!!
Don’t waste your time 1/5
No real work, no replies, and they charge me premium prices only to pay for nothing
Don’t use this app. 1/5
Honestly feel like there scamming me for money ! I posted a job for a sitter and i got 22 responses but I have to pay 40$ just to see there responses, & to reply to them. that’s ridiculous.
Extremely frustrated 1/5
I wanted to cancel, but there is no way( already paid 3 months), registered only few days ago.
I regret that I have paid, and gave my credit card number to them.
please don’t waste your money and time. you may want to use local person from who you know.
this app has not helped, and is not helpful at all.
FYI, I was seeking for part time backup nanny—.
A little Pricey, but useful 4/5
If you have people that need care, the app works good, but not good for short term one time needs. For regular help though it seems to be more geared towards that. I never noticed a one time pay option for non regular work, or immediate needs. It’s seems to want to roll you right into a regular billing schedule and a regular interval of care as it assumes everyone has the exact same schedule everyday. Also the pricing for this app (especially for caregivers on a non regular basis) is high. I think it would be a much more successful service that would draw more people in both sides if they hire OR get Hired THEN there would be a fee etc instead of assuming everyone will hire someone or someone will get hired.
Care.com has it less scary and been a lifesaver for us finding someone we can trust to babysit our kiddos. We live a pretty crazy life logistically, having two homes and no family near by at either location; care.com has eased our hearts by helping us find care. Also, The ability to screen applicants has made things so much less stressful.
Immensely Unsatisfied 1/5
They post fake applicants to lure you into a premium subscription that is majorly overpriced. They have buttons with in their app to downgrade your subscription, but they are just a ploy to swindle you into thinking you have canceled. You will still be charged another month unless you go through iTunes to cancel.
I saw the commercials and thought it would be nice to find a tutor for my daughter to give her a little leg up. When you download the app, you can only search for care providers, but can’t reach out to them. You can also post your job, but can’t respond to the applicants without paying a premium. Well, when I ran a search, I found a lot of applicants that had the background and experience that I wanted. They were also within my price range and had the availability I was looking for. The premium upgrade was $43.00 after taxes for one month. That is high in my book, but I was excited about some of my search results, so I purchased a month. Of course it automatically renews after a month and it states that, but I figured I would not need it for more than a month, and I would cancel once I found a tutor. I reached out to all the search results I was excited about and posted two jobs. Everyone I reached out to never replied back, and the people who applied for the job posting were trying to tutor her through the computer at a not so great price, or were just nowhere near qualified. I “downgraded” through the Care app after 3 weeks of no success. Well, when the month was over, sure enough I was being charged another $43 dollars. I contacted them while the payment was pending in my account, and said there must have been some sort of mistake. They replied back and said they have nothing to do with subscriptions and that I would have to cancel through iTunes. No refund. No attempt to make things right. Just sorry you are frustrated. I just want to warn everyone else at this point.
Since posting a job nearly two months ago, this app has given me nothing but problems. I constantly get a “unable to load conversations” message when trying to access messages with applicants. The app will not show any new messages, but then when I log in on a computer, I will discover several new messages. When sending messages through the app, they sometimes disappear and do not get to the recipient. Care loves to market their site and app as a safe and secure way to get in contact with applicants, but it was so much hassle and caused me to lose on out on people who took other jobs while I was waiting to receive their messages (that had actually been sent days earlier). For such a large company that is collecting high monthly fees (I’m paying over $40), I would expect a better functioning app
Absolutely terrible. 1/5
Downloaded this app maybe 10 min ago. Went to use it and it closes out constantly after you make the account or sign in. I have restarted the app and turned my phone off and then back on. Also used my iPad and it still continues to crash.
Nanny platform 3/5
I left a review a month ago and left 4 stars, now I leave 3. They have serious problems with their website and app and payments. I get problems each week. I used to like care.com more
Needs an update or something 1/5
I try to login and it redirects me to the caregiver app and then proceeds to redirect me again to just the care.com app and just continues to repeat this. Used to use the app but can’t even log in anymore.
Too expensive 1/5
I have a regular nanny who is out of town. I got the app to find someone for just two days.. I don't think I will ever need to use the app again. $40 for a one month subscription, and that being the cheapest option, is insane. I'm already a struggling, single mother, I don't have $40 to spend on an app that I will mostly likely send no more than 5-10 messages to possible caregivers. Absolutely ridiculous.
By Belz 22
Don't trust it. Had six baby sitters "wiling" to meet but never showed up or just stop responding. Put my job in jeopardy. BTW, this is my first review on an app. So disappointed and feeling ripped off. I wish I could not give any stars
Five stars so you will read 1/5
This app is horrible. I just got it and I’ve had SO many problems. 1st. I emailed support over 5 times and I’ve gotten no guidance or help. 2nd. They keep blocking my profile and telling me I’m not following guidelines because my “bio” doesn't show what I’m looking for, even though I’ve stated I’m a nanny/ sitter looking for part time, with my experience and why i like working for family’s. I’ve had a terrible time working this app. I would not recommend it.
BEWARE OF SCAMMERS!!! That’s all I have ever had contact me. If it sounds to good to be true it is. Use your common sense and think about your safety. Never accept any form of money from anyone unless it’s cash and especially not if services have not been completed. And always check to make sure the cash is legit and not fake. Especially if they are a twenty dollar bill or larger. Just please be smart and stay safe. Take someone with you just for a precaution and to help you and offer to split the earnings with them. Or even team up with someone just for this simple reason. Remember if it sounds to good to be true then it usually is. Trust your instinct or your gut feelings.
Waste of time and money 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻 1/5
Very bad with no any way to contact the real baby sitter . Paid a lot of money $170 for 1 year and got a lot and just headache.
Why on earth don’t you have the option to delete old messages that crowd up the inbox? How do you charge $40 a month for this? I like the service but the app is pathetic.
Don’t waste your time if your a nanny 1/5
Another app that just wants your money! In order to get a nanny job you have to pay and when you pay you get the same results and I have heard from multiple people that this is the case and realize that care.com is just another scam! I have been a nanny for over 15 years and have certifications and everything! The background checks are a joke and anyone can be a so called nanny or babysitter. 20 even 50 people can apply to the same nanny job??? How are the tea nanny’s supposed to find work when the ones looking have that many applications to go through??? Just another money hungry scam is all this is!
Horrible changes 1/5
This site used to be free for sitters and nannies to connect with families. Now in order for someone to respond to my emails I need to pay for a membership. What a contemptible money grubbing way to eliminate access to jobs. I’ve used this site for many years and now coming back to it after my last contract I am so very disappointed. Shame on you Care
Customer support 1/5
I have contacted them over a month ago on how to cancel my subscription that I no longer need and no one has gotten back to me
Only five star reviews allowed 3/5
The app tries to limit reviews under five stars by making that the interface on the prompt which caused me to want to leave an honest review. Overall, it is a good site and app because of the network of people on it, however the technology and interfaces are extremely frustrating. They shouldn’t be limiting the feedback their team needs to take the app and site from mediocre to truly useful.
Really Annoying 1/5
as a sitter, i found this app to be really annoying. i can’t message parents and they can’t message me. it’s a waste of time. i’m not spending money to simply send a message for the POSSIBILITY of a family hiring me. no thank care.com
You cannot message your prospective parents unless you upgrade to premium which is 25 a month. Don’t waste your time looking for families on here
