Messed up Algorithm for Top Stories 1/5
The stack for top stories shows 3 real stories while the rest 7 are related to the Covid-19 stimulus checks/child tax credit/unemployment refund!!
Great stuff! 5/5
Thanks for thoughtful, informative and interesting articles on various aspects of our tech age not collected in one site-good job!
Freezes on my iPad 6 1/5
It gets to the point of after choices I made it just keeps spinning a little circle of processing and goes no further. In my opinion it is not worth it.
App closes immediately after opening sometimes 3/5
Strange. No other app on my iPhone does that.
Very buggy 1/5
While swiping down the page in the deals section, i will get 5-10 items in and the page refreshes me away from where I was to deals I have already seen.
I click a link from my CNET email and it opens to the main page in the app. It doesn’t even take me to the story that I clicked to read in the first place.
I really want to use your app but do you even use the app before you release it.
Lastest iOS and latest CNET app version
Need improvement 1/5
Keeps crashing. Jumps to start when pressing back button
This is one of the most frustrating apps 1/5

June 28, 2021
I can’t be the only one having constant problems with this app. It won’t start half the time. It still has scrolling problems. When it blinks out it’s not worth trying to find your way back to where you were. CNET wake up, THIS IS A TERRIBLE APP.
It shut down on its own. You can’t scroll down without it blinking out and returning to the top of the page. I’ve followed cnet from the beginning and I have to say “they have really gone down hill”
Always up to date. 5/5
Helps me stay up to date with the latest breaking tech.
Apple 15 dude, Tim Apple 5/5
Tim is awesome... a appreciate his humor; adds a lot.
Keep it up Tim, you are my new apple fan boy influencer.
Multifaceted information 5/5
Great tech information as well as science, environment, cosmic and fun facts - very trusted and covers all levels of interest.
iPhone 12 Pro Max videos. 5/5
It’s very informative for those of us that need a larger screen. Senior citizens/consumers and there are millions of us with huge buying power are hoping for lighter weights to hold. We also want more ability to have zoom when our eyeglasses are still on the table somewhere else. Maybe, we could just do a screen stroke to read it to us!? As I watched the video I laughed to myself wish a phone had a mini phone built in so we can take it for quick no need for a phone trip. Then, I remembered, use your iWatch remember?
The video was informative without all the technical jargon unnecessary to explain how it works and to use it. I hope I find more of these in the future. I saw this by accident.
Really like this application 5/5
Best information #1
The Number One Source for all consumer electronics reviews 5/5
Trusted number one source for unbiased holistic assessments of consumer electronics.
A # 1
Very useful 5/5
I don’t use CNET every day, but it’s absolutely an email I get, that never ends up in the trash without my reading it. I certainly won’t unsubscribe from it.
CNET gives me a daily reference window into many things techie. Then If it’s of interest to me, and it often is, I’m off to CNET to get the full story.
Keep up the good work guys.
Does not link to specific story 3/5
I don’t like when I receive an interesting notification from CNET but it isn’t linked to the specific story - clicking on the notification just takes me to the app and I have to scroll forever to find the particular story.
Too much flick & flash. 1/5
Too much re display as new ads come in. I can’t keep my place.
Please, please, please stop with all of the IRS and stimulus posts. I come here for tech news.
Great source of info but using the deals section is terrible. After scrolling up a page or two the items on the list reorder very frustrating.
Don’t bother... 1/5
Avoid this app if you’re looking for tech news. It’s nearly all liberal politics now. The site and app used to be great for tech news, but the focus has shifted over the last few years.
I want to love it… 1/5
Anytime I want to look at the “deals” section the app crashes aaand crashes aaand crashes…it’s just so very frustrating. I’ve tried deleting the app and reinstalling. I’ve turned my phone off and on. It’s the app. It’s happened so consistently for so very long now that I’ve finally written this review. I have an iPhone 11 plus and I don’t have this kind of issue with other apps that I want to keep.
Still Political 1/5
By Coconut crab
When will you ever stop with politics? If we wanted to read up on it, we would turn into “honest” news reporting such as CNN and Fox News. Let’s focus back on tech where I think you could actually be reliable source. Thanks.
Another non supporter of free speech 1/5
I come to CNET for reviews and submissions for electronics and cars. When will companies learn the we are through with the political statements. If I want politics there are plenty of other places for it. Another lost customer. I will be removing the app and unsubscribing all of the emails.
Best place to get my tech news 5/5
No longer tech news 1/5
This app no longer shows only tech news, but keeps showing political news. These days there are lots of news abt stimulus checks.
Stop with the Stimulus Check stories!! 1/5
I was a big fan of CNET and would read it almost daily until the pandemic hit and they decided that the number 1 story they would focus on was stimulus checks. WTH?! Why is that even relevant to CNET? I want product reviews and tech information, not financial info. I can’t give them anything more than 1 star until they get rid of all of that stimulus check crap.
I Love CNET 5/5
I’ve been a big fan of CNET for years. The way the editors present the products they are reporting on is really first rate. The better ones inject a lot of their personality into their presentations which makes them even better. Over the years I’ve learned a lot from CNET and I will continue to do so in the future
I understand reviews can be bias, but when every other post is about stimulus payments or unemployment it becomes a political hack site. Embarrassing as I’ve followed CNET for over a decade. Then there’s a random post about Joe Rogan… 0 stars if I could.
Love it 5/5
By Joe Augusto
Great app. I use it for everything
Not longer about tech 1/5
I used to enjoy reading about the latest tech, unfortunately this is no longer the app.
It’s become 50% about stimulus checks and how to get more money. This is no longer tech focused.
Good for consumers and general interest, stay out of politics 3/5
Just do what you do well and avoid expressing personal views on things outside of your mission eg politics and populist issues. When I know more than the author and I know that he/she is incorrect, it makes me wonder whether I can rely on articles in your core mission. Do I need to apply a political filter to everything? Can I trust your content? Is the app worth my time? These are the wrong questions for this app.
Love the CNET App w/1 caveat 4/5
I love using this app but often times it hangs when I open it on my device and the content never loads. When it works it’s a great resource.
It’s become trash 1/5
Not about tech anymore. Badly written articles pushing products they are paid for and conspiracy theories about the virus and constant article a on getting a stimulus check. It’s sad really. This used to be well written amd actually informative.
What Happened To Tech News? 1/5
By Bamako Bob
CNET used to be the go to for the latest updates on tech. But somehow, the coronavirus has hijacked even CNET. The focus has shifted almost entirely to reporting on stimulas payments. For the past 6 months, at least 7 out of 10 daily articles on the app are about stimulas payments. That’s financial news, not tech news. This is CNET not Bloomberg.
Enough already with the stimulas payment articles. Bring back the tech news that made you what you are.
Recycled articles 1/5
These guys LOVE to recycle articles from yesterday, last week, a couple months ago. They just slap today’s date on some old article until you realize you read this before. Sometimes week ago.
And if you need 12 updates daily on where your stimulus check is? These tech guys feel its within their wheelhouse to tell you every three hours or so every conceivable possibility why it’s not there yet.
You can do better 2/5
By Cheaper than dirt
I’ve followed CNET for several years. You’ve drifted from reviews to retailing to a mix of the two. Recently, your retailing is actually more click bait than retailing. When I want to see an item you hype, I’m forced to look through 25 or more items to eventually look at the item you are touting on sale. My patience is growing short with your hype. Why waste time? Since the NYT acquired your site, your organization is also intent on tracking me and warns if I don’t drop my blockers I can’t see the site? Really? Are you selling items or tracking info to marketers.
Timely and informative 5/5
Good, unbiased (I think) reporting on a wide variety of consumer products. My go to source for research.
Some product reviews are from 2018 2/5
I looked at their product reviews for Wi-Fi systems and there were some from 2018 and 2019! You think you’re getting CNET’s “best of” but they’re so outdated that they’re not reliable. The least they could do is display the date of the review on the front page of each product type. Very misleading and disappointed because I’ve always liked CNET. That’s the only reason I give them two stars instead of one.
I used to enjoy this app! It was informative on everything from cars to electronics
Now it’s just taken up space on my phone. I will delete it soon.
This app. C/net became the same old news I see everywhere. Sadly way to many postings of the same typic.
Most “top articles” not even tech news 1/5
Used to be a great source for tech news, now literally 7 out of 10 featured articles are about stimulus checks for the past year now.
Not very informative. I’ve seen better apps with good technology related info
CNET was my source for tech news, but now they have fewer stories about technology and more stories about nothing that has to do with technology. It seems that they have misplaced their mission statement.
Update 01-17-2021: uninstalled. Constant issues with loading the app and loading stories. Not worth the time, especially since they have an overabundance of non-tech news. .
The app is back to needing work since it won’t consistently load.
The app update appears to work okay. One issue is after spending time reading a story and going back to the main page, the main page loads more stories and forces the others out of view; sort of moving a bookmark.
Once again I’m whining 1/5
I should rate apps when everything’s good, but I only do this when I’m ticked. Lately, when I get a notification of a really great article, I follow it to the app, where nothing, happens. That’s not true- I see the perplexed emoji, and it says, “Looks like we have an issue,” as it offers a refresh button. Why bother? That doesn’t work.
It’s to the point where I prefer going to the website.
Love it 5/5
Keeps me up to date on my interest.
Update Products Review 5/5
Please Update Your Products Review, CNET Most Recent Product Review Is Still The IPhone 11, Apple Now Has The IPhone 12.
Refuses to listen for 6-12-24 months ... 1/5
Neve mind the old glowing and new fake reviews; pay attention to the recent critical ones. CNET is no longer about tech news. Every day: the same 6 stimulus check articles, more best movie, housewares, this that and another crap that is not tech related; but pushed out for amazon referral money.
Replace C in the name with ZD and get back real tech news and journalism.
By so many stimulus articles!
Way too many stimulus articles. Seriously?
