CodeRED Mobile Alert App

Thousands of public safety organizations across the United States and Canada use the CodeRED community notification system to initiate emergency notifications. The CodeRED Mobile Alert app enables subscribers to receive these notifications directly to their personal cell phone whether at home, on the road, or traveling around the country. Alerts are initiated by authorized public safety officials to deliver location-based notifications and are not issued by OnSolve or its staff. Free alerts available* - Emergency - Community - Missing persons *PLEASE NOTE: If the public safety agency covering your current location is not subscribed to the CodeRED service, you will not receive alerts through this application. If your city or state does not currently subscribe to CodeRED, contact your local public safety organization today to let them know your community would benefit from this service. Helpful hints: • Enable location services on your phone. • The app also features the ability to view local radar footage for the past hour and satellite imagery of the previous 24 hours. • The CodeRED Mobile Alert app comes with a complimentary 30-day trial of CodeRED Mobile Weather Alerts that automatically notifies U.S.-based subscribers of severe weather. The optional CodeRED Weather Warning add-on is $0.99/year, but it is NOT required to purchase in order to receive emergency, general, and missing person alerts. • Your app account and the account you create for your community’s CodeRED system are NOT associated with each other. You must create separate accounts. Questions or issues regarding the app? Before writing a negative review, please contact us – we’re here to help! CodeRED Mobile Alert app reviews

  • Waste of device memory. 1/5

    By Aspenstyle
Not sure why, but a boil order is listed as an emergency. With that being said, this app is great if you want to be notified of boil orders around the country. This app has a lot of potential if “real” emergencies were listed (serious fires/accidents/rescues/police activity etc...) Save your device memory and don’t waste your time in downloading this.
  • Doesn’t work 2/5

    By Floridalocal
I registered and logged in (City recommend we register and download) and it says I have 76 alerts but you can’t read what they are! What’s the point....unless it’s user error 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ we have a boil water notice and this app doesn’t help at all (for any updates) our city said they do a reverse 911 using this.
  • Deleted Immediately 1/5

    By Wanderlust-stricken-and-SAD
Not really user friendly and I don’t find the purpose. I signed up for alerts through my town. Why do I need this app?
  • Crap 1/5

    By elliemae
Needs serious work. I can’t believe I paid for this and it doesn’t even work. The radar will not load but flashes in different spots erratically. No alerts when tornadoes are in the alert radius The tornado siren was sounding in town but this app , “no active alerts in your area”. SERIOUSLY!!!???
  • Removal of In App Purchase 2/5

    By RegalRed1
Thanks for removing the In App Purchase. This will save many lives since this is severe storm and tornado season across the southern states (as we’ve already seen March and the first half of April 2020). I can’t give a 4 or 5 star rating just yet as I just registered but tomorrows weather forecast in my location (central Texas) is calling for severe storms with possible isolated tornados and I will update my review then.
  • Not worth .99c 1/5

    By KMTuck
I would like to give higher stars BUT it never shows the actual alerts and never completely loads (can’t see radar bc it doesn’t completely load). I get better storm alerts from Facebook. Don’t waste the money.
  • Epic Fail 1/5

    By SuzyQDallas
The app Used to send text and voice mail alerts. Have not received one in 12 months! And, I have the “paid for” version. We had 40 mph winds, tornado warnings and hail warnings that came thru from 3 other FREE apps. NOT ONE ALERT CODE RED. Even the tech people think you are stupid and you don’t know how to set it up, but you’ve had the app for 4 years. Lol..with warnings you choose! 😂😂 Both of my “local” governments are allegedly set up to issue warnings, but I still haven’t seen any from them. I’m guessing the OEM do NOT USE this platform due to issues

  • It doesn’t work 1/5

    By DCB 116
I installed this yesterday 4/12/20. Today, we had a tornado watch and tornado warnings. We also experienced one of the most severe thunderstorms I have seen in years. The app was useless. It sounded an alert twice over the course of an hour, but provided zero information. It said I had 2 notifications, but wouldn’t load them so they could be read. 20 minutes after the storm passed, I received an alert that warned me of a severe thunderstorm! During this time, I had at least 4 warnings from the National Weather Service on the TV. This is after I paid $.99 so I would be covered through May of 2021. USELESS!
  • Trash... Just TRASH! 1/5

    By Catdoubled
Absolutely GARBAGE to charge people to know if they’re about to be blow away! There was a tornado siren going off and I didn’t know what was going on (I’m originally from South Florida -so not used to tornados- I didn’t know about the sirens UNTIL TONIGHT) because I couldn’t see the alerts without paying. It took me 15 minutes to scroll through social media to figure out what the sirens were about. Had this app functioned like it was supposed to -allowing me to see alerts in my area- I would have been able to get the information I so desperately needed instead of fumbling around like an idiot trying to figure out what to do.
  • So Wrong! 2/5

    By jweaver1982
The premise of this app is great but how the developers have chosen to implement it is SO WRONG! How anyone can put a price tag on saving lives is morally outrageous! What this developer is charging you for is usually given free of charge via text message or automated phone call from most all local, state, city, and county governments. The app actually works which is why I rated it 2 stars instead of the 0 it deserves. The app will notify free users what they deem free emergency, general, and missing person notifications. Yet they want to charge you to get an alert that a tornado 🌪 is at your doorstep or a wall of water is getting ready to wash your home away. This is sickening to me and the developers should be highly ashamed of themselves! In my opinion; search your states, city, or counties website to find free ways to signup and receive life saving notifications for emergency events. By paying this developers price tag per life you are supporting this behavior!
  • Poor design - skip this app 1/5

    By ReesethePriest
After filling out this info with my local state I downloaded the app they recommended. I couldn’t even sign in because I us Google as my sign in option with the state website.

  • Not Receiving Alerts 1/5

    By ctx143
Haven’t received alerts in a VERY long time. App hasn’t updated in OVER A YEAR.
  • Government incompetence 1/5

    By Ed Brey
This app is an example of why capitalism is so important to our standard of living. If the quality of this app were critical a company, the company would improve it or fall prey to a competitor who would develop a much better app. * Signing up requires saying that you've read a very lengthy terms of service to use. Government should be working to prevent companies putting citizens in the choice of wasting time versus lying about what they did - not furthering the problem. * The weather radar flickers. * The weather radar animation doesn't work. * The alert count can't be set to show a count of alerts in your region. It always shows all alerts for the entire country. Basically a statement of how municipalities are using this app (good thing). * Sign-in is completely disjointed. If register with social media on the website, you can't use the same social media sign-in in the app. Even if register with a username and password on the website, you still can't sign in with the same username and password in the app. * The tutorial shows the sample screenshots in the wrong aspect ratio. * The margin on Alert Details is wrong on iPhone X. The buttons are clipped in the corners. Overall, the app is so poorly crafted, I have no confidence in its reliability to perform well in its main function, which is to deliver important alerts.

  • App Not Working 2/5

    By Nanato2C&L
I tried to download the app on Apple device and I keep getting a message that it cannot download app at this time to try again later. Been trying for a while now and about to give up on the app completely at this point!!!
  • Can’t read alerts 1/5

    By RuthGhia
I can’t read any of the 14 alerts shown on the app, so that’s useless.
  • Avoid this app! Will trick you into subscribing! 1/5

By Don't Own an iPhone Yet
It purports to be free, but will prompt you to “update” your weather alerts once the free trial expires - DON’T! This is a subscription (even though it never mentions any charges) and you will be charged for it. Apple really should insist that upgrades/updates that are not free should be clearly marked as such in the app.
  • Cannot log in 1/5

    By NuncioBitis
I signed up on the web site on my computer. The web site suggested I install the app on my phone. When I tried to login, it will not recognize the login information I submitted on the web site. Apparently you need to register separately on the app. Don’t waste your time with this app. The web site has your phone number for text alerts.
  • Scam 1/5

    By Opus44140
Useless app. Sounds are frightening. Cannot access or delete the 200+alerts I have.
  • No good 1/5

    By meej2013
Just downloaded this app and all it shows are alerts across the US. Nothing even in my state. Very odd. You can’t narrow down your search. The area I live has constant activity but none of it shows up. Should’ve read the reviews first :(
  • Worthless 1/5

    By DE Single
App settings do not work. Cannot see alerts. All I can see is that I have 428 alerts.
  • SCAM/HACK4Ur$/Waste of$/time; avoid!! 1/5

    By NobleMomto2
So I downloaded and PAID for the CodeRed app my county recommended and linked on it’s site. It’s a TOTAL waste of money. It doesn’t allow access to the acct I have created through the county which is their THIS program but online. I had to create/register a NEW account just to find out the two are incompatible. It ALSO has no way to access the 57 alerts it has listed nor the message option on the program to read updates. WHAT A WASTE!! It is the most useless app I’ve ever downloaded AND I paid for it!!! I’m very disappointed with the app and even more disgusted that it was recommended for public use when it’s not even compatible with the account I registered with the online version of this app. I want my wasted money back from this download. I don’t know what to do and am so enraged that I spent money on something that does nothing AND required I Pay annually to have more of NOTHING!! This program is incompatible, incompetent, useless, costly, time wasting, space/memory wasting, a hack to take your funds, disappointing, enraging, nothing like what it claims, lacking in features/operation, A SCAM!!! Wish I could give it NO STARS!!! I’ll delete this and stop leaving negative reviews as soon as I get back my funds wasted here!!!
  • Had to uninstall heating phone 2/5

    By LGC60
I really liked the idea but not the fact it heats my phone to hot and consumes battery life a lot. It wasn't working properly as well.
  • Trash! 1/5

    By Alexan555
So apparently there are over 300 alerts in my area. Can’t read any of them. Not one. I signed up thinking I could get notifications on the boil water notice that’s currently happening in my county. Nope, not happening! And yes, a rep from the county’s watershed department said I could get them through the app. Went through the whole sign up process for nothing! If the developer isn’t going to take the time to keep the app up and running properly, then just take it down. And the developer has the nerve to charge for weather updates! Seriously?! I doubt any updates would come through even if I did choose to pay for it. 🙄
  • App does not support password managers 1/5

    By wavesoundr
This app needs to support password managers and needs better QA.
  • Won’t allow login with web credentials 1/5

    By HCLB
Created a new account via web. App will not allow login with web credentials.

    By Steven GW
I signed up for the service through my local Emergency Management Office. They subscribed our whole county to CodeRED. I have an account through them but the app is not connected to the local CodeRED registration. Why would anyone use two “accounts” for one service. Interestingly though, the competitor service, Everbridge, in adjacent counties does link local registration to their app. Keep up with the competition or you’ll lose market share!
  • Can’t register. Bad set up 1/5

    By BadgerDelta
I created my account on the browser version which allowed me to register using Facebook. No such option on the app and no instructions on how to register instead. I deleted the app and will hope the browser version works if there is an emergency.
  • Needs work 3/5

    By oscarzmbd
Whoever designed this app did not take into account the design of iPhones. The controls are so far in the corners of every screen that they cannot be used effectively. Almost makes the app useless. Since the update so in frequently, I suspect this is not an app that gets much attention. Too bad.
  • App doesn’t work 1/5

  • App is Buggy and Doesn’t Work 1/5

  • Settings do not work !! 1/5

    By Smoke98
Not a good system if you can’t use it !!!
  • No notifications! 1/5

    By JAMNfam
We had a major storm here last night. Zero notifications from this app! 65 mile per hour winds, hail and rain. If it hadn’t been for another app that I had, we would have been caught in the storm while outside instead of safe in a sheltered area. Our city went to notifications from this app only! At this time it was the WORST decision someone has made! If you could give less than a 1 star I would.
  • Horrible App 1/5

    By Trexxx_
My screen says “45 Alerts” however you can’t even see what or where those “Alerts” are. What is the point of this app?
  • Wasted my money renewing in the past, and again twice today. 1/5

    By Amber Gopher
They are counting on the fact that .99 x2 tries is not enough for a consumer to bother getting refunded. This is a particularly dangerous app if you are counting on it for safety. There is a fire near me that has caused evacuation and whose smoke I can see and smell, and yet it doesn’t show up on the map. Some time back, however, it did wake me up in the middle of the night for an Amber alert.

This is useless! Screen just flashes... waste of money!
  • Not information. What’s the point!? 2/5

    By R0cc0a
I’ve had multiple wild fires occur in my “radius” and have never received a warning or an active alert status. My sheriff’s office uses this program and I’ve yet to be informed of something going on. Makes you feel unsafe.
  • “Active updates “ tab doesn’t work 2/5

Yeah... you should get that fixed.
  • Wasn't this once free 1/5

    By edsel6
So I used to get free alerts. Then I moved and added the app back for my new address only to have it expire asking me to take out a subscription. Wasn't it free once?
  • Terrible app 1/5

    By andreas lucky me
Doesn’t work well at all, I agree with all of the other problems expressed, always freezing, can’t go back, no sound, major disappointment, a dollar wasted!! And you idiots won’t let me post review I’ll do it on Facebook
  • No login via Facebook? 2/5

    By chadclan
I created my account originally through the website using my Facebook login. Then when I switched to the app the app does not let you login using your Facebook. I’m sure you can login using your email which is gleaned from the Facebook login but that’s not the point. Why allow you to sign up with your Facebook but then not to login after that using your Facebook? Ugh.
  • Cant veiw alerts 1/5

  • You don’t need to know my phone location 2/5

    By Kevin71481
I gave the app my address but it won’t even give me the option of just defaulting to what’s in that area. Instead, I get the smug “we don’t know where you are because you won’t turn on location services” message, as if I don’t know you could just used my address.
  • Needs Work 2/5

    By RickH1968
Problem #1: The alert sounds to choose from in settings are horrible. Problem #2: no matter what alert sound you choose in settings, the default alert sound is what you get. It doesn’t use the alert sound you choose.
  • A Joke 1/5

    By james10
Still cant sign in via App or website even though my log-in info is correct.
  • Useless - don’t bother to install 1/5

    By MveMjs10
This app was recommended to me and several others during a natural disaster. None of us were able to read the multiple messages sent within the app. It was frustrating to see the growing number of unread messages and not be able to access them. Deleted.
