Sharing articles 3/5
Sharing links to articles is more complicated than it should be. Adding the intro “check out this article from CJ” and the title of the article is unnecessary, and screws up the ability to share to other apps (such as Firefox). The article title shows up when the link embeds so adding it as part of the shared text is superfluous
Not happy 1/5
By Sharpe Girl
About every four days the app will not sign in to my account- will not recognize my password. I delete the app, reinstall, enter the same password and it works. This AM it will not even let me get to the sign in page- it says Bad Gateway, so I deleted again, restarted my IPad and it still won’t work. I also deleted the cache but that doesn’t help either.
Getting the e edition is horrible!
Why does it say welcome back, then my name, but still makes me sign in?
It already recognized me!
If you love to be on top of the news with updated notifications, you need to use this app!
IU Hoosiers coverage 2/5
Why even have the section “IU Hoosiers”? There has been no “recent news” in weeks. Example: the football coverage is 3 or 4 weeks old. Sad.
Can’t view my account for corrections! 1/5
While trying to review my account, I couldn’t login. I can’t control simple things like manage my delivery!
Pretty good, but has flaws 3/5
A nicely presented local news app; however, it's VERY common for a breaking news flash to be a dead link. Fix that inconsistency and I'll give it 5 stars.
Updated review: the app is much smoother and links have worked; HOWEVER, clickbait is now embedded in the user experience. May stop subscription.
Notifications are not categorized properly 2/5
I have only news and breaking news turned on for notifications. I get 10-15 sports notifications a day. It’s so annoying. I may cancel my subscription just for this reason alone.
Great News 5/5
Easy in, easy out!
This is a terrible app - not user friendly. 1/5
I have tried to manage my account 3 times without success. It keeps sending me back to the sign in screen
Needs improvement 3/5
Been using this app for a few months now. It is fine for headline news. However, I have a few suggestions.
1. The obituary interface needs to be improved. When you click on a name to read the info, and then click to go back, you get sent all the way back to the beginning. Surely there is a way so that when you click back you get sent back to the list of names instead of all the way back to page one where you select the obituary section again.
2. Sections other than headlines need to be updated more frequently. For example, the Shopping & Fashion section has had the same stories on it for months. Some new articles, please!
Getting better CJ 4/5
By Haji Fazoola
Improvement every month is apparent. Keep it up.
Poor customer service 2/5
I called CS because I am being billed for 2 subscriptions. One is 𝐀𝐮𝐭𝐨 pay and the other is new through iTunes. She said that I only have one account which is auto billed. I said check my acct page. She insisted i have only one account. QUESTION: Why is it that I can see both but she can’t. The digital only clearly says billed thru iTunes and the other is asking me to update bank info. smh!!!
Please cancel auto pay Sunday plus digital @ $29.00. I will keep the one paid through ITunes....for now. I also subscribe to NY Times and Chicago Tribune so maybe I don’t need CJ since I can get local news from TV apps.
Delivery problem 2/5
I’m having a terrible time getting my paper put on my porch. The carrier refuses to do it. I’m disabled and have trouble going up & down steps. I’ve called & called & emailed but to no avail. I’m really extremely frustrated that this can’t be resolved & very upset with the CJ
Courier Journal 1/5
I switched to the digital subscription and I am very disappointed. The same stories appear there for multiple days and sometimes multiple weeks. I will be canceling my subscription.
User-friendly and CHEAP! 5/5
Love my CJ app on my phone and iPad. Love the articles and coverage of the derby especially. Worth the money!
Send out too much crap!!! 1/5
So much you apparently feel is breaking news, I do NOT. I am amending what I receive from this app. If I continue to get so much crap, I will delete it!
Poor Customer Service 1/5
I don’t even know where to begin. I’m so frustrated with CJ. You can’t even call them with a problem anymore. No customer service on weekends so if you don’t receive the newspaper you’ve been getting for 4 decades, well, you’re just out of luck! If you call during the week, you MAY get a call back hours later, as their employees work from home as one opened up to me on the phone about 3 months ago when this happened, AGAIN. The CSR’s are very polite but their hands are tied. Honestly feel bad for these ppl bc they get the blame for the delivery department’s fault. You’ll never get the Sunday paper like they use to bring you when they messed up. If I wanted a digital paper, I wouldn’t have signed up for a REAL NEWSPAPER! I will cancel this as of tomorrow bc I’m tired of dealing with CJ. At one time, this was a very good paper. Not anymore! If you see a one star, it’s bc I had to give it otherwise they done deserve one star!
Good early morning
By miss the comics
Wish there were comics!
I enjoy reading the paper everyday-wish you could access more of the paper with the subscription
Print news! 5/5
By Charles Earl 1
I enjoy getting up in the morning walking to the mailbox getting my paper sitting down with a cup of coffee reading the daily news been doing it for 50 years. I do use the Phone app when I'm away from home but nothing beats the feel of newsprint in your hand. Charles
Articles not visible 1/5
By disgusted in ky
Links to articles do not work. Deleted and reinstalled. Still can't read articles that I paid for!
Can't log in 1/5
Since the update, I am unable to log in to the app. Spent several minutes on the phone with Diane in "customer service" who initially told me that it must be a problem with my device (iPad)..
Finally acknowledged that there is a problem with the app. I was insulted by her attitude.
Her advice was basically to forget the app and log in through the browser......why have the app???
I only have Breaking News notifications turned on and I am notified about EVERYTHING. The opening of a new restaurant is not breaking news.
CJ app 1/5
HORRIBLE!!!!! Do not subscribe. It hangs up all the time, all the stories' images are impossibly-high resolution (I want the text of the news, not pictures of it. Fine in a printed edition, not fine online.), at least half of the stories have a video component (again, if I want video I'll watch television.) and the writing is horrendous. Most of the reporters and all of the copy editors should be fired. None of them can spell or construct a grammatically correct sentence. Who the heck do these managers hire to write and edit a former Pulitzer Prize winning newspaper? The CJ management appears to have no journalistic pride anymore.
Periodically pops up video ads 1/5
The latest release force you to have a subscription to read unlimited articles, so why are we still having pop up video ads?????????
Very timely and great info! 5/5
Keeps me up on the issues I need to know. Thanks CJ!!
Easy to Use App 5/5
I find the CJ app great when I am away from my paper copy. The update alerts let me know what is happening in Louisville.
Little news. Lot of sports. No editorials of substance. Two quality journalists: Gershon and Puckett. Corporate crap news for the most part.
Too glitchy 1/5
It's not intuitive and functions that we are supposed to have access to like comics and crossword are impossible to find. You have to use the search bar, and then when it goes to the page, it glitches and freezes and never loads.
Appreciate the Courier-Journal app 4/5
By Speck of Red in a sea of blue
Living in the Lexington market area and being a true University of Louisville fan, the Courier-Journal app is my major source of information for my teams. Thank you.
Very handy and easy to use 4/5
I pull it up whenever I have a few minutes of dead time and read an article or two while I'm waiting for whatever it is (doctor, picking up kids, etc).
First thing I do when I wake up is
check the Courier Journal App on
my I phone. Love it.
Bad read For so in readers 1/5
Why not just give us the printed pages on line?.
By Bobcat engineer
I love having the feel of newsprint but when I can't or when it is the middle of the day, this app is great.
Very useful app 5/5
Full-featured app for r adding the e-paper and moving about among articles and sections.
Timely and accurate info
This app is very good and the news notifications are very timely and appropriate. Could be a little better organized, but overall an excellent app!
Love it 5/5
Love reading the CJ
Timely Updates 4/5
Perhaps the best thing about this C-J service is the timely news updates. Certainly the news gathering/reporting business is constantly changing. Glad to see the C-J evolve and remain meaningful.
CJ App 4/5
Enjoy text updates on current events and option of opening article to read further. I most enjoy e-edition of paper. Like all the extras of app.
Rick Dickman 5/5
It gives what it's supposed to. Overview and headlines. You can dig into it. But best if you subscribe.
Love getting the breaking news updates. Also love having hard copy paper at my door step in the morning.
Great app!! 5/5
Great way to catch up on current events!!
Good app 4/5
As long as you have a subscription, the app does what it's supposed to do.
Great with promoting local news 4/5
Sometimes it is challenging to navigate but I really enjoy it most of the time.
