"Decibel X" is one of very few noise meter apps on the market that has highly reliable, pre-calibrated measurements and supports dBA, dBC. It turns your iOS device into a professional sound level meter, precisely measures the sound pressure level (SPL) all around you. This extremely useful and beautiful tool will not only be a great tool for many uses but also bring you a lot of fun. Have you wondered how quiet is your room or how loud is a rock concert or sport event? "Decibel X" will help you answer all of those. WHAT MAKE IT GREAT AND STAND OUT FROM OTHER APPS: - Trusted accuracy: the app is tested and pre calibrated for all Apple devices. The precision is matching with real SPL devices - Apple Watch support: see noise level right from your wrist - Frequency weighting filters: ITU-R 468, A, B, C, Z - Powerful, smart history data management: + Recording data can be saved into a list of history records for future access and analysis + Each record can be exported as hi-res PNG graph or CSV text via sharing services + iCloud support which synchronize all history records across your Apple devices + Fullscreen mode to give overview the whole history of an record - Dosimeter with NIOSH, OSHA standards - FFT and BAR graphs to display real time FFT. Those are very useful for frequency analysis and musical tests. Real time predominant frequency is also displayed. - WAVE graph with 2 display modes: Rolling & Buffer - InstaDecibel to capture your dB report overlaid on photos and easily shared via popular social networks (Facebook, Instagram, Messages, etc.). - Support both Portrait and Landscape layouts - Beautiful, intuitive and carefully crafted UI design - Optimized for iOS 11 OTHER GREAT FEATURES: - Standard time weightings (Response Time): SLOW (500 milliseconds) and FAST (200 milliseconds) - Trimming calibration from -15 dB to 15 dB - Standard measurement range from 30 dBA up to 130 dBA - HISTO graph for plotted history of the recorded values - Real time scale level chart - Display Current, Average/Leq, and Max values with both nice and clear digital and analog layouts - Quick reference text to help you compare with real-life examples - "Keep Device Stay Awake" option for long duration recording - Reset and clear current recording at any time - Tap on Max value to reset at any time - Pause/Resume the tool at any time NOTES: - Please do not expect a quiet room reading will be 0 dBA. The range 30-130 dBA is the standard usable range and an average quiet room will be about 30 dBA. - Although all devices are pre-calibrated, custom calibration is suggested for serious purposes requiring higher precision and accuracy. You will need a real external device or calibrated sound meter as a reference, then adjust the trimming calibration until the reading matches with the reference. • Crashes on Open in iOS12 1/5

    By Pr0metheu$
Really like the look of the app and the purported features. However it crashes on open or soon thereafter. Still visible in the app list but no app is available.
  • Awesome 5/5

    Easy to use
  • This is not a FREE APP! 1/5

    By YSaunder2018
This is getting so annoying that app said FREE, then they try to charge you a membership fee! Thats fine, if this is was described on the page before downloading! I don’t care how good of the app is if they can’t even be honest about their fees.
  • Excellent software 5/5

    By Middleweight
Intelligently designed and written app; very intuitive to use & does what you want and more. The only additional thing I would like is some idea how accurate it is out-of-the-box, not explicitly calibrated.
  • Not working with upgrade 1/5

    By TJTSC
Downloaded latest version and upgraded to pro version. The app simple shuts off after opening. Not useable at the moment. What happen to an app that used to work well
  • Crap dont aste your time 1/5

Loaded with ads, high subscription cost
  • Pro Version doesn’t work with 12.1 1/5

    By SkipnAlaska
Regular version works okay, but spent money on Pro and it won’t start!

  • Waste 1/5

    By essten
Although this might be a good app I refuse to give my credit card info only to deal with canceling or refunds. I find it deceiving not to mention that in order to use the app for the trial period you are required to submit credit card info. If I had liked it after the 3 days I would have gladly bought it. But deleted it as soon as it asked for my credit card info. Another fail and another app I will never use.
  • Not good 1/5

    Piece of 💩
  • Useful 5/5

    By MikeTheBush
I got this because an annoyingly loud piece of heavy machinery is parked outside my office and I wanted to know how loud it was. 80-85 dB through the walls.
  • Flawless 5/5

Impressed with setup and execution. It also has excellent ability to customize.

  • Very good tool 5/5

    By Italo peru
Available at phone for any moment you eant to take a measure
  • Paid for app but now adds are back! 1/5

    By aplili
Love the app so I bought it. Latest “update” reverts to unpaid version on startup and try’s to get me to “subscribe” for a monthly fee. Bad faith deal Skypaw!
  • Return of the dreaded ads and non-operation 2/5

    By PastUser
Updated: I updated my app and now I have ads again and the application does not work. Such an awful way to mess up a great, paid-for app which used to provide a useful service. Due to inoperability reduced rating to 2-star.
  • Deceptive 1/5

    By eho3ct57
The way the app tries to force you to sign up for the paid version is very deceptive. Try it free is the only option and then canceling on next screen is highly obscured.
  • Obnoxious ads added 1/5

    By OpinRon
5 star app until ads added to extort subscription fee. It was good while it lasted
  • Handy App 5/5

    By Gonzo199
I work around a lot of various places with noise levels in excess of 80 dB this is a handy app to make sure everyone is wearing a proper hearing protection

I have over 65 years of Audio design experience & this a Great app!! Thank You!
  • Was awesome 2/5

    By Heresy300
I used to use this quite frequently to measure sound quite randomly. Then I guess they got stockholders and turned it into an ad-laden hunk of crap that only allows you to use a single weighting. Uninstalled.
  • Too much 1/5

    By xp9987
Way too expensive and way too many ads for a simple app.
  • Great db reader! 5/5

    By NathanReadTheDrummer
    Works great!
  • Subscription model is an epidemic!!! 1/5

    By 84TPNguyen
I am very disappointed. After upgrading to the newest version, it is full of advertisements. I bought the app about a year ago. Don’t upgrade if you want to avoid the problem. This company and many others (Microsoft, Apple, ...) are trying to rip off their customers by subscriptions!
  • I upgraded before, now I have ads again 1/5

    By JHicks31
I upgraded before, now I have ads again. I already paid once before. I never deleted my app. So I need to know what gives...?
  • Ads back? 1/5

    By llewxam89
I made a purchase to get rid of apps and now they are adding ads back and charge additional fee if I want ads gone again???????
  • Upgrade is really a downgrade 2/5

    By Not Fair #2
The latest upgrade (6.6.1) re-inserted ads back into the app. Not fair to those people who had already purchased the upgrade.
  • Used to like this App 3/5

    By 🆒JohnD45🆒
I paid $4.99 for the pro version and now I get adds and watermarks on photos because I don’t want to pay a monthly fee.

  • Not impressed with the costing model 1/5

    By BradStudio
This is a rip off for a simple utility. I can see $15 for a life time, but not annually.
  • Full screen ads are a no go. 1/5

    By Matth3ous
I understand that you have to make money. I do. But full screen ads? REALLY? And not grandfathering in people who already bought the ad free version? Uninstall.
  • Now with ads? 1/5

    By @bob15
Ads? Ok. I understand. I don’t care for it but I understand. Premium via subscription? NO! For a sound level meter? One time premium charge for no ads? Fair and I would consider it.

    By JonPaul
Unsure how accurate it is, but I went to "restore purchases" to see the price of eliminating ads and it automatically charged me. I did not make a purchase previously. This is fraud, and violates Apple's terms. Update Dec. 2018: My “purchase” to unlock all features/remove ads cannot be restored because now the app is acting like I never even made the purchase. So basically, the developer took the money and ran. FRAUDULENT. NOT ACCURATE APP. DO NOT DOWNLOAD.

Had no idea a gym with kids is 92 decibels. Great little app. Checking everything now. Thumbs up.
  • It does exactly what I want it to! 5/5

    By Audio-video guy
Nothing more to add. Want to easily know the SPL where you are? This works!! Recommended!
  • dB meter 5/5

    Great APP
  • Physician 3/5

    By dgbunny
There are multiple dB scales. dB A is the scale used for human hearing This is scale typically used to define at risk sound exposure. I’m not familiar with ‘Z’ scale and can’t utilize the information provided
  • Unreliable 1/5

    By Cr5ppy
App crashes consistently as soon as the history graph reaches the left edge of the screen.
  • It works!!! 5/5

    By Sarah.gizzy
    Really,it works!!!😄
  • Crashes. Pop up ads make unusable 1/5

    By Chiron Unicorn
Was a great app when I first started using app years ago. Now crashes and pop up ads make it impossible to use. They block from functions and freeze app.
  • Greatest 5/5

  • Easy & Useful Product 5/5

    By Hdsghuhv
Very easy to use, great indication of sound volume and relatable source. I got this app because I thought my neighbors were unreasonably loud. Come to find out I was the one that sounded like a “Bulldozer.” Fun, easy, informative and free!
  • Misleading app name, free version measures dBZ only 1/5

    By AcousticsProf
The app name is dB, dBA Noise Meter but what the developer doesn't tell us is that the app only reads Z-weighted decibels (dBZ) and not A-weighted decibels (dBA) in the free version. All the guidelines and standards say to measure noise levels in dB(A) as A-weighted decibels correspond to human hearing. So it's really misleading to the public who don't know any better. dB(Z) levels are typically 10 decibels or more higher than dB(A) so people are always getting the wrong readings, unless they purchase the A-weighted portion. No explanation is provided, it's truly a disservice to people who think they're getting a good reading of their noise environment. Remember, a 3 dB increase in level means double the energy that reaches the ear, so 10 dB at the ear is a huge difference. Developer should make this information available to the public. They benefit from their top ranking on the app store but forget they are spreading misinformation by not explaining to the public the difference between dBZ and dBA. I will gladly pay $10 for an app that provides readout in A-weighted decibels.
