  • Love Motown news everyday 5/5

    By Fentondude
    The Freep is an institution!
  • Too liberal and far left 1/5

    By Go Blue 70
Unfortunately, the Free Press has joined the other far-left news media in “President Bashing”, a sad state of affairs for a once respected paper!

By John MSU 53 RRHS 49
Good way to keep track of my old home town, automotive news and best of all MSU sports coverage. John. MSU 53 , RRHS 49

    Great free app
  • Great for sports 5/5

    By Ken D K
    Read it every day
  • Pictures out of sync with copy!!! 2/5

    By Mabovoice
I don't know if it is a mindless auto fill problem but it seems that when I click on specific article it first shows a completely unrelated photo to the copy. Check todays story about Lions QB buying a house in Georgia. The first thing you see is a photo of a Red Wings hockey player completely unrelated to the story I want. And this happened thought the app. Someone is not vetting layout! It needs to be fixed. M. Beltaire
  • When it works it can't be beat 4/5

    By Snow guy
The free press is The NY Times of the Midwest when the app is working. If the programmer gets its act together it cannot be beat.
  • Problems 1/5

    By Bingo fan 69
We can't we open any articles on either of our IOS 10 devices. Been a problem for three days now. Just tried factory reload on this device and it didn't help
  • Sports in the D! 4/5

    By Doey 888
I check 3 things on my phone each morning. The Freep is always first and the most fun! The postings are timely and most stories load quickly.
  • App Stopped Working 1/5

    By BMMTroyMi
I used to really appreciate being able to read the local news on the Freep App, but the app has stopped responding on the last few weeks. Once in the app, you are unable to click on more than one article to read. Soooo frustrating. I did contact customer service but have yet to receive a reply. I am loath to delete the app, but it is useless at the moment.
  • Latest update doesn't work 1/5

    By Moodge01
I updated the app and it no longer works. Deleted and installed again. Same issue.
  • Update version not working 1/5

    By Raptr7
The latest update rendered this app worthless for my iPad. I am running 10.3. But now when I open the app and to use an article, it doesn't open. Are you supporting my version? I guess I will find a new news app
  • Update upset! 4/5

    By 1979akc
The latest update on Nov. 26 will not work properly on my IPad. The articles will not open! This update should be updated ASAP!
  • Too many sports stories on main feed 2/5

    By JHappyretired
    20 of 28 items, why?
  • Font size adjustment sorely missing. 3/5

    By smartie61
    Otherwise eight fairly typical NewsHour.
  • Is this a sports app? What happened to the news? 2/5

    By Mr bigglesworth89124
Wayyyyyy too many sports stories. Literally maybe 4/5 articles are sports related. I want news. Not sports entertainment. And I had to turn off notifications because during any playoffs season, I was getting notifications before each game started, at least 1 during the game, and another after. Why???! I DIDNT DOWNLOAD THIS FOR SPORTS NEWS!! deleted.
  • Ad-Free does not work 2/5

    By Cup4drw
I like the app and wanted to support the paper, so I purchased the ad-free subscription. However, it does not seem to do anything. All the ads are still embedded.
  • Poor 1/5

    By French7255
Poor research. Not ALL the facts.
  • Love this paper. I have read the Free Press since I was 10 years old 5/5

    By Lady from Lakeport
    . I am now 72 years old.
  • Thank you 5/5

    By Home run Tommy
I live in Flint Michigan, however, my hometown is Ypsilanti Mi. I use the app to keep current with Southeast Michigan I love to read! I also use MLive to keep up with the Ann Arbor area more specifically Ypsilanti.
  • DFP app is great. 5/5

    By CAtourist
Easy to use app which supports great Journalism!!
  • App is ok but 2/5

    By jim5666
The app has no place to write a review of the newspaper news items. The paper itself is garbage and no place to tell them to keep the biased out of their reporting.
  • Voter guide comment 5/5

    By bootjack yooper
We appreciate the voter guide the Free Press has put together. So informative, easy to use and readers throughout the state can be helped by it. Dave Liimatta Brighton
  • New Clickbait Headline Style Stinks 3/5

    By KevinHall
The new way the headlines are being written is awful. It makes it sound like a bot trying to garner clicks instead of an actual newspaper headline. This isn’t BuzzFeed, they should write like it. The app is fine in general to use. I wish the night mode wasn’t buried so deep in the UI or could be put on a timer with the sun. It’s easy to change the font size which I did once ever, but annoying to change to dark mode every night and back in the morning.
  • Plays Audio Video Ads unprompted now! 1/5

    By americandadinchina
This app now will start playing advertisements unsolicited. And if in a meeting or event or somewhere else trying to read the paper very subtly, you could get called out with a loud obnoxious advertisement. Not using this app anymore.
  • Almost great! 5/5

    By Joe Chateau
I love everything about this app....except for one strange issue. I can go to any sport and get up-to-date news with one exception. When I click on Lions it’s stuck on the news from Nov. 29th. Tate is saying the Lions have to win the rest to make the playoffs. I have deleted the app and reinstalled it, but it still sticks on Nov. 29th. How can this be fixed?
  • Lions portion of this app 4/5

    By danmatras
The Lions portion of this app has not changed in 146 days. It’s still talks about Tete taking the Lions can still make the playoffs. It is unbelievable that someone has not fixed this portion of the app. The other sports teams don’t have this problem with their portion of the app.
  • Stale 2/5

    By Slightly obsessive
The head article on the news page is 89 days old. 'Nuff said.
  • Poor design 1/5

    By Motownmat
Why can’t the developers fix the cover photos that appear in each article? The same cover photo appear above each story. This has been a problem for over a year and never addressed. They should write a story out their inept programming skills.
  • News 1/5

    By Duraforce
The disgraced media continues to ridicule our great president, one would think that this leftist news outlet would notice their error but, continuing down into the swamp and still melting down due to hillary klinton losing Big Time. Start reporting the news correctly, leftist losers !
  • Great mobile newspaper app! 5/5

    By Buddy cat & Smokey
I normally will not read newspapers on line, but the Free Press app is really easy to read and find what section you want. This is the best newspaper app that I have and I definitely will keep reading it! My complaint I'm now having is that the advice column is terrible - sometimes there aren't any new questions for days - my Oakland Press has new ones daily in Dear Abby....sigh! Line Dancing Grandma The advice columns aren't any better....they disappear for days - what happens?. I just changed the number of review stars to one...why, because again and again columns are disappearing, especially the advice columns!! I will close the app if this doesn’t clear up. This has gone on for days - I have been a Free Press reader for years and really like this app since we go to Florida. This app is getting worse and worse! Is there a reason why certain sections are not updated daily! I will no longer recommend this app to my snowbird friends from the Detroit area - please do not ask me to rate this app again unless you’ve fixed this problem!
  • Lose the ads! 2/5

    By motownspecial313
This Ann Curry ad is ruining the app experience, fine I understand something have to keep the lights on...but you need to remove automatic launch/highly sensitive tap. It is very annoying...
  • Anything new 1/5

    By Headinhome
The same pictures and stories remain on sport pages for weeks, even months.
  • Sports are Not Breaking News 3/5

    By tang29
I’ve chosen not to receive notifications for sports, therefore, I do not want to be notified about sports.
  • U of M Athletics 5/5

    By Go Blue in ATLANTA!!!
    Coverage is the best!!
  • As an ex-pat, I check it every day 3/5

    By GreenApple07
Good way to keep up to date on the hometown. Hard to beat the price; it’s truly a “Free” Press. Quibbles: — Art should track the stories better. Way too much feature art for unrelated stories. And, too often, thumbnail shots don’t open with the stories. — Not sure why some obscure stories age so long in the home page — sometimes for days. — The steep reduction in staff shows. A lot is missed, especially in business news.
  • Mr. Juan O’Neill 5/5

    By irishjuan
Good to read news from my home town paper.
  • Love my local paper, not a fan of app 2/5

    By sjfinest21
I get a digital subscription of the paper delivered daily. Big fan. However I constantly struggle to find the stories I read in the daily paper within the application so that I can share the articles. Bummer.
  • Biased 1/5

    By Uh60 driver
Just a bunch of closed minded liberals who think they know what’s right for America writing biased articles with little to no facts. If I could give negative stars I would.
  • Deleting app 1/5

    By jkfhope
No comment on the app but I am deleting this app and it’s data and will no longer read the Free Press based on the recent call for the National Baseball Hall of Fame to rescind it’s election of Jack Morris over one rather innocuous comment he made 25+ years ago. This is preposterous.
  • Expat enjoying the Freep 5/5

    By Jim A R
I left my SW Detroit home for the Philly Area in 1974. I miss all of Detroit and revel in the good news and frown when you I read the bad news. My go to source? The on line Free Press. What a great background and full of excellent storylines. Example: the recent Delray story. Tremendous!
  • Morning Delight! 5/5

    By Five Minute Fun Franny
Great way to share news and coffee! Excellent paper!! 👍🏼 Yay for the F P!! 👏. And “Thank You” for each edition! 😀
  • No search function 2/5

    By Randysusan
Wish there was a way to search.
