Dasher app goes dark unless you keep your finger on the screen...I can't drive like this. Keep the app awake after accepting the order or while dashing and actively looking for orders. Other than this complete annoyance it's fine.

I live in a small city that has two door dash starting locations. I shouldn’t have to be 1/2 mile into an area before I get the “dash now” button, when I’ve scheduled a shift in that area. Likewise, after I’ve completed a dash that’s out of the starting point. I often end my shift early because driving back to my starting point takes too much time when I need to be somewhere (like school pickup) within an hour. Also, as a California resident we are not supposed to touch our phones more than once if we are driving, so the check boxes (do you have such and such with you?) when starting a dash shouldn’t be there.
There needs to be better driver support. My starting location is nowhere near Stockton, CA, but sometime in the last two weeks it switched it (I was nowhere near Stockton during this time), and no matter what I do I can’t get it to change. I shouldn’t have to go into an office to get this changed. Ridiculous.
It’s also quite aggravating that we are given absolutely no information on reviews. Since you require a certain minimum review score for Drive, that feedback information should be available to us so we know what we are doing right and what needs improvement. I’d go so far as to say it’s downright unfair to require a 4.8 if dashers aren’t given their feedback.

I’m not going to leave a dismissive review about options I can personally change like other reviews for this app, this is regarding the changes that have been implemented toward the app and the revenue of the drivers I’ve seen since I’ve been working with Doordash for the past short few months.
EDIT: I feel obligated to change this part of my review; as of November 11, 2019, Doordash offered a very agreeable new Terms of Service, which at least contractually bonds them to NOT dip out of customer tips. States they will not lower the base rate in accordance to the customer tip fairly plainly. So I’m glad to see that the management is reacting accordingly. Also we are not required to wear anything specific (Wear something decent, make people want to use Doordash!) and we CANNOT look inside the customer’s food due to health code reasons. I see those as big plus’ along with them agreeing not to dig into customer tips.
EDIT: I still don’t like the Acceptance Rate. So, after ignoring that there even is an Acceptance Rate, I’ve noticed I’m still offered some other decent jobs instead. Largely depends on customers using the Doordash app. Still don’t like it, just get rid of the Acceptance Rate altogether. Also, I would still raise the base pay for at least a few more cents per mile. Of course an employee is going to say they want more money, but I am not going to do an order that takes an hour for less than $5.00.

The app won’t let me login. It’s so annoying. I keep trying to login and it won’t allow me too. I can go to their website and login but not on the app. It’s playing with my money. I deleted the app and downloaded again and still the same problem
My only real issue with this app is the notifications for when the app is not on the screen. It makes the tiniest little sound that someone hard of hearing such as myself can barely hear at all. If I am in one of the restaurants picking up a different delivery and have the phone in my pocket there is no way I would ever know that I have a delivery on my screen and then it is counted against me when I don’t accept it. Also when I am driving with my GPS on screen I could, at any time, miss another notification. This can be very frustrating for someone in my position and I hope that it’s patched with a sound that is a little more noticeable. Thank you.

Ive had nothing but problems with this app for about a month now. Even with the updates...still freezes so i lose orders, when paused for lunch break it resets way before the 35min is up and it ends my dash and wont let me schedule same day again. Dasher support is a joke. None of them speak english or understand english. No help at all. App over all is trash.
Im going to postmates now, no problems with the app and it pays more.
Overall it’s not a bad app but it has many problems. If you switch to Apple maps sometimes it loses the dash. In fact there’s a 45 time limit on accepting an order. God forbid you’re driving and don’t have enough time!

I tried this app out, didn’t hardly get a ping, made $4.75 in an hour at lunch time and that’s it. Had to go through crowded Wendy’s and order all their large order, this app should already have them making the food so we can pick it up and drop it off, especially if we only get less than $5 to go across town in rush hour. And it should also have its own navigation built in instead of relying on mine. Needs lots of work guys, if you want drivers you’ll have to do better than this. It also didn’t show what size fries and drinks until after I made the order.

So I’ve been using doordash for a while and thought I would be able to get the money I earned out on Monday like it says when you sign up but every time i try to update my information it gives me an error message. I’ve called customer service countless times to try to get it worked out. Every time they tell me the same things that they will send my information to a higher department for me only to wait for weeks and still not hear ANYTHING back from these people. It’s crazy cause of me using my gas todo dashes and not revive anything for doing the work.

This app has so many issues. The biggest issue is the maps are off. I can’t tell you how many times I am sent to do a delivery in an alleyway.. A few times I have not been able to contact the customer and food has been left at the wrong place which in return I get dinged for bad service. I only use DoorDash when Uber eats is slow but it’s becoming such a hassle I don’t even want to use it anymore. I have a 98% rating with Uber Eats and with DoorDash it looks like I give the worst customer service and it’s not always my fault. My other complaint is they don’t send orders over to restaurants until you get there to pick them up. This is extremely frustrating and lowers my paper hour when I am sitting in waiting 20 minutes. One trip is taking on average 40 minutes. Really hope this company can get it together.

Doordash needs to make major improvements to me to even consider it compared to Uber Eats for the following reasons.
1. I get far better tips on Uber Eats for some reason. May just be how the customer app is set up. I never receive tips if the customer decides to tip after the order is complete.
2. The app sends me on long trips with minimal pay. Usually on Uber eats for 5/6 miles (10 mins) I’ll make $5 base pay. On Door dash, I’ll make a maximum of $3 base pay even on trips that are 10mi+ (15-20min).
3. If you decline to accept an order while your online, your Acceptance Rate will go down, decreasing your chances of reviving trips, or the best possible trip.
4. The app is filled with bugs. In-App map is poorly optimized and locations bug when you drag the map. Along with many more visual bugs, notifications make no sound.
5. App is extremely hard to use when driving. You can’t start a dash or navigate without clicking through multiple menus. Additionally the accept order and decline button are tiny. Basically promotes distracted driving.
6. Sends random text messages that you can’t opt out of. I’ve received random messages about orders at like 2am in the morning when I’m not even online
7. Support is extremely hard to reach. Had to dig into the internet for a phone number because the site is just a loop of links.
8. Cancellation rate is affected for reasons that are out of my control, which also affects how I receive orders.
Use UberEats until they fix their app and systems.

I started dashing at 6:30 had 1 order arriving home at 10:30 though they said it was busy and peak pay. Get a call center in the Pittsburgh PA AREA AND I WILL SHOW YOU HOW TO GET RHINGS DONE! I have to say, I’m making pretty decent money doing Doordash during dinner/late night hours. But holy cow is the UI for this app clunky, slow, and just bland and boring! When I’m at a restaurant, confirming the “swipe after arrival” sometimes I have to swipe multiple times just for it to load! It will constantly be stuck on “confirming” and it is very frustrating! Also, while confirming someone’s order, if they ordered multiple sets of the same item, it will constantly ask you “did you order 2 (3, 4, 5, 6) of that item? And you need to go through pages of confirming the order over and over again. So annoying! Also, why do I need to put in the order sometimes? It never really explains why you have to, it will just tell you “put the order in yourself!” Why?? That just causes more waiting and wastes more of my time. Uber eats doesn’t do that. Another HUGE pet peeve I have is delivering to apartment complexes. I understand this is not Doordash’s fault but people are NOT specific with where their building is in an apartment complex. Sometimes I spend multiple minutes circling the complex & getting out to walk around to look for the correct building! Doordash needs to implement a system that asks the customer whether they live in a house or an apartment complex, and if it’s an apartment, please be VERY specific with where your building is! For example, “when you enter the gate, make your first left, then the 2nd right. And I am behind the 2nd building on the right.” NOT THAT HARD! This is not happening ALL the time, but certainly happens often and is very annoying and takes away time I could be using for other deliveries. Again, I am making decent money doing Doordash and am happy with that but there needs to be some big changes to this app!

I started working for door dash when it first came out in my state (Delaware), at the time it had a little bit of action but the main action always happened in another state(certain cities of Pennsylvania). Within a year later, as the app started changing, the amount of requests has gone down significantly. Trying to schedule in advance is pointless because now the app doesn’t have anything in the cities of my state that will request food. It’s been like this almost the entire 2019 for me. I wouldn’t recommend this app unless you live in a state where you know there is a lot more traffic.

The app constantly kicks me out and has an error code when I try to log in again, so far the only trouble shoot that works is logging in on my home computer the same time I login on the app. As a delivery driver this is clearly very frustrating, and it doesn't even work all the time. It's a great side hustle, but it'd be nice if maybe the people in charge would put in more effort.

I got really hyped up about the idea of making some extra money after watching people on YouTube do door dash. However it’s not worth it, save your gas. Door dash takes you to far places from where you originally started working at & to top it off it’s not like Postmates where u can start doing deliveries anywhere. You have to drive to the hotspots which is inconvenient because sometimes the targeted red locations aren’t anywhere near your location (they don’t pay you for the drive to the hotspot, again save ur money gas is EXPENSIVE)

First I gotta say I think the majority of those 5 star ratings are fake... It’s kinda annoying getting $3 for a delivery and then the person doesn’t tip! Sometimes yes I do get $10 for a delivery (very rare) but most of the time it’s less than $5. Some of us have cars with expensive maintenance costs so about a third of my earning(not very much) go to that. I know this isn’t really a professional job but seriously we need to be paid more. Not only do we deliver the customers food, we have to deal with doordash problems on the app and go out of our way to figure out how to get the delivery to the customer which I think is worth more than $5! This whole business relies on dashers and they’re just gonna give you $5 for 30 mins of ur time, nice! Great job (sarcasm)

When I try to edit or update a dash that I have scheduled I get an error message almost every time. It never allows me to update my dash. So I have to delete it. And sometimes I’m unable to get that time back.
It doesn’t matter how long or short in advance the dash is - the error message pops up constantly.

This is a terrible app. If by some chance you are able to actually do a dash, it usually only lets you do it for like an hour or 2 tops. Then you are just done. Most the time it doesn’t let you do a dash because it is either not busy or there are too many drivers. Sometimes it tells you that you can dash now and when you try to start it won’t let you. Major problems with the scheduling as well. And a majority of the time it sends you to pick up food that is not even close to being ready and you end up waiting 20 minutes to get the food and then the delivery is late because you had to wait so long. And then your dash is over after 2 pick ups because it only lets you dash for an hour and you just waited for 30 minutes at one place. So frustrating

I attempted to order from door dash when I saw the driver sat 3mims away for 20 minutes I tried to call and text the driver from the app and it said that the number was not available. I contacted chat support and they said my number wasn’t updated and that they would update it for me and took my number. After a while of holding while “checking my order” I said I would like my $50.49 refunded as I ordered fast food. I was told that they could not refund my order because my food had sense been delivered on the ground outside the leasing office of my complex which was closed. I called the 800 number and explained that I tried to contact the driver from the app while the order was still open and it didn’t work and that the chat service said they updated my number while we chatted. I also shared that I was told that my food was delivered on the ground outside of my leasing office ( I have screenshots of the chat saying my number was changed and that my food was delivered on the ground. I also have a picture showing there was nothing delivered at all).I was told that I would not be getting a refund because my food was ordered as per their driver and that they are sorry I was misinformed but they don’t do anything with phone numbers because of security purposes. I asked for a manager and after waiting too long I hung up. The rep called me back and I asked how she did that if they couldn’t do anything with numbers due to security. She said she saved it to my account just not my profile. I’m out of $50, my family is out of a meal and we were treated like dogs by suggesting we just go pick up our “undelivered “ food off of the ground. Door dash.... never again.

I’ve tried using this in my rural market as well as in the local city nearby and it has wasted my time I haven’t even been able to do my first order because it doesn’t let me. I schedule something for 7 pm so I drive 10 miles and get there slightly before 7 and it locks the app until 7:30. And then my schedule is gone. So I reschedule at 8pm but this time it’s just 8pm to 8:30 pm half an hour of work. So I wait and suddenly it’s not open again until 10pm.

I ve been doing this job for months and rexetly after October i recognized that doordash is stealing your tips , your exact amount is not correct when you accateped it (they changed it couple days ago) , your rates are automatically gets down even tho u complete each order . The application will log me out every time I leave the screen to use the maps then it keeps saying that the software is not working. An other issue is that every time I get an order it send me 10 mins away from the restaurant then an extra 20 mins from the customer it’s outrageous.
Absolutely clunky 2/5
The base pay is garbage and tips are few and far between. You might get an extra $3 to drive 4 miles to deliver your food, which in a city (I’m in Chicago) can take 20-30 minutes, and it’s extra infuriating because you have to drive back to your “zone” to get a new order unless you want to end your dash (and there’s no guarantee the area you deliver to will be busy). Doordash doesn’t account for all the time wasted by these orders. They also ding your performance rating for restaurants not having food ready. Overall my biggest gripe is how the app doesn’t adapt to your delivery location. Instead of having to drive miles back and forth to deliver food and return to your base area, why isn’t the app smart enough to find the closest pickup for you at any given time? Uber eats is so much less of a headache.

Have had multiple horrible experiences with their customer service. Doordash makes mistakes ordering the food and then you as dashers get in trouble. Then when you try to fix it you have to waste 30 minutes on the phone with someone who is not even in this country to try and fix it. Their solution is always the same. Nothing. They once made me pay for their mistake with my own money and then denied my reimbursement!
Also, their delivery fares are very low. If it wasn’t for the tip then I wouldn’t be making any money at all. They offer free delivery to their guests but at what costs? Oh, the cost of the delivery person. Even if they charged 1-2 dollars for a delivery then we could make a better wage. Don’t fall for the 15$ an hour gimmick they try to get you with!
Starting to dislike this app 2/5
Whenever I’m driving the app won’t notify me at all that I have a delivery instead when I pick my device up. I am greeted with a text letting me know that I missed a delivery & my dash has been paused.
This has happened countless times to the point I’m driving around holding my phone with the screen unlocked so that I don’t miss another delivery. My acceptance rate has taken a major hit due to this issue.
I get notices to dash now but when I click on it , it says error this time slot not available then why did it ask me to dash now!!! There’s nobody in the company to talk to to find out if I’m doing something wrong or if something is wrong with app my daughter doesn’t have problems so I can’t figure it out I wish some would call me thx mark 248-807-7843

I wouldn’t waste your time signing up for this app. There is NO WAY to pick up and deliver food the “schedule” is ALWAYS full and without you scheduling yourself and your not ever going to make money. And at least this goes for me in Ga but there isn’t ever a single order I could ever think about going to pick up because there isn’t any opportunity in this app to make money.
Too many Problems/ less rewards 2/5
Let me start by saying I’ve been using the app for nearly two years now. With me transferring schools in the near future, this is the only opportunity I have making a little money on the side. That said, this app has always had its errors, bad loading times and causally drops service and freezes. Yesterday I spent an extra 30mins waiting for my app to complete loading an order that I dropped off. Which once it’s loaded it was late cause it took to long just finish loading that one order. Add the fact the changes of routes times are limited and less longer than in the past and I feel like I’m working harder for less. Hopefully these problem(s) can be sort out in the future but I can’t hope too much seeing that errors aren’t really fixed with each update. If they were I wouldn’t be saying anything at all.
UPDATE: Several times now my payment has come threw inaccurate to my bank account. This is definitely a breaking point for me as my many replies to the company as either been ignored or brushed off by emails saying the deposit has been sent but never actually does. I’m most likely going to find another source of income real soon. If you are reading this, be very careful; trust is harder to find in modern era than anyone could think.

The app is horrible and so is the customer service. They are having trouble with their system. It will allow you to pick up a shift but when it’s time to start your shift the system will not allow you to dash. We troubleshooted for hours, deleted the app and added it again, even powered off my phone all to no avail. No one was able to help or explain why it wasn’t working. I only recommend door dash for leisure or if you have spare time to waste.
