Thought this was for another lanaguge 3/5
This seems like a useful app for teaching kids English, however it was presented on the Duolingo app as reading exercises for learning other languages. It was not clear what the purpose of this app was.
Fix the bug! 4/5
I am very happy with this app. It has been a great tool for my soon to be kindergartener. However I think that the most recent update has an error: we are in a constant loop on one level so he keeps doing the same lessons over & over. It’s been a week with no new content. I thought it was happening because he wasn’t getting a ‘perfect score’ so I went in and did it for him. I got it to level 11. And sure enough this afternoon it was back to the tiny turtles. He’s over it and so am I.
My only other general suggestion is that the app have a place for parents to get a comprehensive overview of the skills that have been introduced and where the child is in terms of mastery.
It is a wonderful app and I truly appreciate that it is free and ad-free! Keep up the great work!!
By Someone Writing Something
This is teaching my 4 year old to read! I’m so shocked that it’s free because it is the best app I’ve ever seen for it. My son already knew letters and letter sounds and a few sight words but I was struggling to get him practicing his knowledge in a way that would get him sounding out words. Wow. I love the way they do letter tracing with the easy snap to the line a few times and them dropping the snap to the line. They offer voice recognition and the drills are fun. This really should be a 5 star app. Thank you so much for creating this!
Only English? 3/5
I really like this it really helps my little brother but he also wants to learn our main 1st language but we can’t find anyway to change it a different language I was hoping this would have many languages since other apps you have to pay way to much money after one day of using it.
Love it but can you add an android build 5/5
By kitty bird revews
I absolutely love the app but can you add it on android
Not for other languages/Not what I expected 2/5
I purchased this app with the hope that, like the Duo Lingo app, it would teach early reading skills, but in a preferred language that you had the ability to choose and change. You learn reading skills in English, but this app does not provide the option to learn in different languages.
I love It 5/5
I love It
Would be 5 stars with multiple users 3/5
This app is great and both of our daughters love it. Only problem is that there are not multiple users. If we want to switch between our kids the content starts over and progress is lost. Multi kid support would be so great if it’s not too much work to implement. I of course understand this is a free app. And a fantastic one at that!
With multi user, I would easily this as many stars as possible.
A reccomendation 4/5
Duolingo proper is a language learning app. I was bummed to find out this app is only for English speakers (at least in American markets). My main request is support for more languages like Spanish, French, and German (the language I am studying right now.)
Not what I wanted 3/5
By g gf ghgfg
Cute, but only in English I need it in Spanish.
Thank you ! 5/5
I am a mother and I have six kids ( my husband passed away ) and I don’t have enough money for school and there very young should be in kindergarten right now so I teach them and I don’t want to waste my money on teachers that go to your house
So my life was very depressing until I found this app that made me interested so I gave my kids the app and now they have been playing that app for days now so thank you for that now I have time to help myself by getting a better job then my last !
Why not “alphabet” for EVERY language 3/5
This should be the app that teaches the alphabet of every language 😊 Add Hebrew next please 😁
Maybe a Spanish version? 3/5
By Alexis Katrina Garcia
I like this app, but it would be so much more better if it had a selection of languages like duolingo. I want to learn how to read and write in Spanish but can’t because I can’t change the language
By B ZORP
#1 This is a great app I would recommend it.
#2 So I saw a couple of reviews and the first thing I saw was, “it’s to advanced for my child.” Well let me explain. The first one I saw, said that he/she had a 10 year old well if you look at the age it says “4+ ages 0-5” so if there over 5 it’s probably too simple.
#3 I also saw a review that said “there is no other language, so I just want to say, anywhere does it say that there is more than one Language? If you want more than one Language I would get there other app (Normal Duolingo).
Great app 5/5
my little brother learned how to write and read a little bit from this app. my mom works till noon so I teach him while I do my homework too
he barely interacts with anyone at the preschool because he’s not confident in his abilities. When the outbreak ends and schools reopen, thanks to Duo abc Nico will do good and have fun at school 🙂🙂
Language and Multiple accounts 2/5
By Rose (Sierra's grandma)
I think that this app would be improved if you were able to choose what language the kid was learning just like in the original duolingo. I also think that it’d be helpful if you could have multiple accounts in the same device
I am a kid 3/5
I use your normal duo lingo hoping that I could find a kids version of it to learn French with I didn’t please make it so that you can adjust the language they are learning.
Great! Especially for those who are just starting out 5/5
By 123456 fine!
I got this app because it was an add on Duo lingo. I thought that it was going to teach me how to read in another language, preferably franchement the language I’ve been learning for about a year. As anyone would know it is very difficult to wrote on another language with the correct grammar and spelling. So I thought this would be a great opportunity. Well once I realized that this was only for English reading and writing I knew the perfect use. I gave it to my 5 year old who just started with letters. He really enjoys it. The one thing i ask for is an app that focuses primarily on reading and writing in another language. And that it would start with basics, so that kids and beginners aren’t overwhelmed. Like it teaches you to write the accent marks properly. I really have no problem with this app so far though.
Extremely recommended 5/5
This app is amazing it’s easily usable for all ages and is fun and repetitive.
Not for all Children 1/5
By FC Maria
Since I use Duolingo to learn other languages I thought this would’ve been a good app for my niece to improve her writing and reading skills in a specific language. But just like every other learning app for children’s, this app only focus on children that speak English. What about the children that speak other languages like Portuguese or French?
He is Obsessed! 5/5
I came across this app few days and my brother is going to school in a few months.First day was like not paying attention to me only the app!
Mmmmmm . . ........ I don’t know about this 3/5
This could be good for younger kids but not older kids. My child wanted to take writing classes and she’s pretty advanced and she wants to get better, if it’s gonna start out with how to spell monkey I don’t think this is going to help a 10 year old. And it’s also annoying because you can’t change the language and my mom was trying to help her change the age and stuff to see if that would work but she couldn’t read it . And it’s also a good app for people learning English because now my mom knows some English so I guess it was pretty helpful but it is very annoying when you 10 year old is trying to learn new writing skills and it’s literally trying telling her to spell monkey.
Good app but need an update 3/5
This app is really easy I think for my 4 almost 5 year old. I’ve noticed when he is doing the speaking portion he will say the word but it doesn’t recognize him saying it. He gets frustrated because it works sometimes and other times it doesn’t. Otherwise, the app does good but I haven’t seen where it teaches the kids how to read.
Keeps resetting progress 1/5
On iPhone SE 2. IOS 13.4.1. The app keeps resetting progress for my daughter. There’s only one profile and after a couple of hours I go back on and I have to re-enter her name and age and it starts all over from level one. Very frustrating.
This is the best app ever! I downloaded this for my 3 year old sister and I thought this was like any old app that just says you have to pay to get everything but no, this is the exact opposite. Everything is free and it is really helping my sister a lot!
I wanted something harder 1/5
I’m 9 years old and it’s not what I expected I thought that it would go by your age nope this is pre-k level I’m in third grade it’s too easy I wanted language lessons on a easier level but no I got something I could finish this day. 1 star :(
Language options 1/5
By I love this. App
There should be a language options, think about bilingual children or children that want to learn different languages young . Don’t limit yourselves with this app it really could be so much greater!! However, other than that it’s a pretty organized app and easy to use.
I really want to teach my sister Spanish you should have a multiple languages
Great, but speech recognition fails 3/5
The app is great for my 4 year old, but it has stopped listening to her speak. The permissions are correct, options are on, but it doesn’t register any sound.
MUST READ 😡😡 2/5
I like this app but if you want your kids Learning than do not get it most of them they ask write M or something and all it dose is correct it I was seeing if it was just one time but no I did a hole circle and it just went a m and it tells your kids like say m or say mat and all I heard out of my brother was uhhhh and it said he got it correct. If you want your kid to be like this in like kindergarten when the teacher says write m and you child just writer some random your going to get embarrassed so if you want your kid to write correctly and say things to do not get this app even tho it’s free you should not get if you think I’m lying you will see it yourself just get another app I like how they tried but there better just stick to learning how to speak a different language not trying to teach kids because this is not there thing. SO DO NOT GET THE APP!
3 Year Old Starting To Read 5/5
Downloaded this app because my newly turned 3 year old daughter loves to watch me do French on Duolingo so I figured I’d let her play with this app since she likes the interface of duolingo. She’s already knew all her letters, but she’s been playing with this app a couple weeks and she can now sound out words she sees around the house! She’s read the words Mad, Glad and Blue!!! I can’t believer it!! Super fun app that makes learning interesting for little ones who like devices. Very impressed.
Helped my little sister a lot!
I thought this was for when you or your kid was learning a different language (unless you’re learning English) and I felt so dumb 😂 good app for kids
Needs options for different learning levels 1/5
Excellent for learning early letter recognition and reading skills.
I’d love it if it could be adjusted for a slightly higher level, or could start partway through with sight words, more sounding out, etc.
It’s particularly great that there isn’t too much game surrounding the learning content. So many apps at this level are 90% game and only 10% learning.
Good but… 2/5
I like it but it dosen’t seem like you can change it to any other languages. I would appretiae it if you would make other languages for it like Icelandic because it would help my nephews out a lot.
Great App / Great customer service 5/5
My kids (ages 8 and 6) love using this app and when I emailed customer service about creating a way for each kid to have a profile they made it happen and got back to me. SO happy with the product, they make learning fun and value customer feedback!
Great app! 5/5
My son loves the app! I wish we could use on multiple devices without starting a new acct.
Great App for introducing children to reading 5/5
By Emily B in A2
I am really impressed with this app and so grateful for it during the quarantine! My kid loves it, and I think is starting to pick up on the lessons.
Great app 5/5
This is a great app!! My 3 year old is learning her letters the sound they make, how to write them and now how to read sight words. I’m amazed! They app is so helpful!!!
Really Good! 4/5
my 6 year old cousin loves this app! i wish it had more options but so far amazing app! Can’t wait for duolingo 123 :D
I want my daughter to learn Chinese but I don’t know how to change the language
We love this app! 5/5
We do very little screen time, but our precocious 2.5 year old is blasting through these lessons. Really accessible for early readers.
I love it 5/5
This helped my son
Really impressed 5/5
I have wanted to find an app like this for my 3 year old son. I think a parent needs to be engaged in the app alongside the child in order to keep the child truly focused. Apps can be overwhelming for little ones, they end up pressing things and going off course. This app addresses that concern of mine. I sat alongside my son and saw he was able to stay on task of the app’s easy to follow instructions, without me monitoring his process. The app is well designed and well thought out.
When the app asks to pronounce words, OMG! I was completely won over. It really encouraged him to say the words, not just be a “tablet zombie”. He loved that feature too!
By Janelle d.
Thank you for making this app! My 6 year old his fighting dyslexia and a speech disorder. This app is crazy!!! She loves playing it and doesn’t realize that it helps her self correct. She just thinks it’s a fun speaking, reading and writing game. Thank you again for this!!!
Now my kindergartener can join the fun! 5/5
I already use Duolingo for French and Japanese and absolutely love it! Now my six year old is able to join in on it, and loves it! She gets so excited with getting gold and the little duo owl always gets her to laugh. Thanks for a great way to learn but have fun while she’s stuck at home Duo! ☺️
Does a really good job keeping kids engaged 5/5
I almost never let the kids on smart devices as I don’t believe it’s the best way to learn, generally, but I do like that this seems to reach my kids and engage them in several different ways. They are too young for formal instruction in literacy in their schools so just about everything they’ve learned, they’ve picked up from this app - a surprising amount in a short span of time.
