  • Intentionally Vague Opt-Out Settings 1/5

    The app works fine. The newest update has a weird bold font. So, we can all look forward to feeling like we are using our grandparent’s phone for the foreseeable future. Also I’m not sure why we need to scroll down and then click See All for our saved searches. Just let us keep scrolling. -I’m sure this has something to do with how the data loads, but come on... The one star rating is for their intentionally vague Opt-Out for third party advertising data collection. It has half a dozen categories (the expandable to see a bunch of smaller elements). The page tells you what the data collected is then has a toggle switch that says Yes/No. But it doesn’t say if I am answering “yes, collect and distribute this data” or “yes, opt out”. This needs to be easier to understand. Then, they provide links to each of their third parties (hundreds, if not thousands) where you can opt out individually. Except about half force you to go to their individual website to opt out. NONE OF THESE LINKS ARE ACTIVE for me. eBay says that we need to do this individually because of the their contracts. eBay is the heavy hitter in these negotiations. If they wanted to protect their customer in these contracts, they’d be able to.

    As a seller, eBay has been a complete waste of time & money. The whole system & process is a complicated maze of varying rules & fees & rankings, and it’s very time consuming to learn. My first sale was cancelled bc the buyer changed their mind, but still somehow counts towards my total $ sold. The shipping label system is complicated & confusing. I tried multiple times to print & my barcode on the shipping label printed unreadable. I took to the post office & they were unable to make it work & they said my packaging (which I packaged according to info on the help pages) was unacceptable. I had to buy a new envelope & shipping label. Post office said I should be able to get a refund from eBay for the wasted shipping label & NOPE. I spent $10 on shipping the item, the item has been delivered, & eBay is STILL holding my funds from the sale. So I’ve spent $10 & I apparently gave away my item, valued at over $100. eBay continues to delay my funds. I should have received them on 3/23, and today it shows 4/6!! Another item, I accepted a buyers offer & then eBay removed my listing. They said to check my messages for the reason for removal & THERE IS NO SUCH MESSAGE FROM EBAY!!! I have checked every possible inbox, in my email & in the messages on the app & site & they have not sent me a reason. And there’s NO CUSTOMER SERVICE AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME!!?!? How is it possible that they don’t have remote customer service personnel available?? At this turbulent time, the expected funds from my sale are VITAL. If I could have given negative stars I would have. I’m disgusted with eBay and I will not be selling through their platform any more.

    I love ebay but they got rid of an AMAZING new feature where you could make the backgrounds of your items white. For whatever stupid reason, they completely got rid of this new amazing feature. I am beyond disappointed and so sad to see it gone. Ebay, you already had something great that you spent time working on, WHY GET RID OF IT??? Terrible!!

    Idk that anyone wants to hear my whole sob story, but in a nutshell: eBay essentially HELPED several people rip me off by telling me my payment was there, and to go ahead & ship them my items. Buyers pulled their payments back, and eBay just said “tough...too bad.” They even kept me hanging long enough for the transactions to “time-out,” with no warning of that happening, or that it even could. They couldn’t possibly have been LESS helpful, more rude, or more unaccountable & dismissive. Was I not supposed to TRUST eBay and adhere to what they told me to do?... It’s unbelievable! Why are people even ALLOWED to just take their $ back, after you’ve already shipped their item!??? I’ve had many great experiences on eBay, with nothing-at all-to complain about. However, if someone swindels you, just know your on your own, and don’t expect them to be accountable for anything they tell you to do. Like they’ve done to me at least 5x now, they’ll just keep stringing you along until the transaction expires, and the other guy gets yOUR $ refunded back to their accounts, and your left with nothing. THEY WILL NOT HELP YOU AND COULDNT CARE LESS IF YOU GET RIPPED-OFF!!!... or even worse, like in my case, they’ll FACILITATE IT & become part of the THEFT, themselves, and brush you off like it’s nothing. Absolute Worst part about it, is that in every single case, it would’ve been sUch an EASY fix!... But no... apparently, no one was smart enough, or enough willing to simply offer to discount my seller fees, to make up for the loss(es) that THEY initiated by telling me my $ was there, and to send my items out. SHAME ON YOU, EBAY! You’ve made yourself one amongst thieves, and I’m severely disappointed in you.

    mar2020-ebay finally fixed this bug below!! 5* rating now (it did take them nearly 2 years though) The eBay apps do not allow you to select and copy text from a listings - for example from the title. This is very annoying as often you need to look up specs on an item and there’s no way to copy any text from the listing. also you can’t click on orders from your order history. ONLY Keeping orders in the system for 60 or 90 or ANY limited number of days is totally unacceptable.

    I purchased two items that when I bought them were listed as active. As soon as I purchased and paid eBay removed them due to seller issues. Because I already paid I now have to wait 10 days and then star claims. Why didn’t you stop the purchase process and eliminate this headache?

    I HATE the “sort” and “filter” floating buttons at the bottom when browsing. They belong in the header where they were. You used to be able to see how many times were in your search. That’s gone too. Brilliant work by software folks who obviously don’t use the app. Quit changing things just to change them. I will be turning auto updates off to prevent this disappointment in the future....

    I started using eBay to list a couple items for sale and it lasted one week before I realized how backwards and old this platform is. It’s full of scammers and lowballers in addition to a non existent support team. The prompts for support are a cheap way to not pay additional employees to help people. It’s been a week since I reported fraud and got no response. Now I’m subject to a fee because of wanting to close my listing/account. I reported the user, filed a claim with my listing, and the platform still forces me to keep my listing and not delete it. A prompt came up saying I owe $160 because of fake accounts sending offers.....talk about a scam/no protection to a seller. I can’t block someone who keeps trying to provoke me as they keep sending low ball offers. No wonder all the other selling platforms are being used more, I feel like I went to a bad neighborhood on the internet and avoided getting robbed twice with no police (eBay) to help.

    The app search sidebar changed today and it’s clunky and takes more steps than it used to. I search sometimes for 100s of items a day as I’m a reseller. This is terrible. The other way was easier. And can you please shut off the automatic process of making my first picture have a white background and having to answer questions about why you don’t want it. My picture already have a white background. Please fix these it’s very annoying.

    If I list items on the desktop, eBay accepts my default setting saving time. But the app tries to get me to do it eBay‘s way every time. Asks turn on Easy Pricer or whatever its called has two answers. Yes or Maybe next time. Literally doesn‘tvtake no for an answer. Will automatically try to remove photo backgrounds every time and then nags me why if I want to cancel the change. Tries to constantly turn on offers or free shipping and never sets my standard as default. The only saving grace of the selling part is that my photos are already on the phone, everything else this app tries to do is a waste of time at best and stealing my money subsidizing ebay‘s business model at worst.

    I used to use the eBay app a lot but the update that was atomically pushed out as of a few days ago has completely revamped the whole app and I absolutely hate it so much. I can’t find some stuff anymore and they took away some options that I used a lot and now everything is in bold letters and I think that just looks bad and I wish that we had a choice if we wanted to update or not. But apparently eBay doesn’t care about their customers or should I say ex customer.

    last week the app was finally loading properly and everything was fine! So who is the developer that went back over the last 72-96 hours and made updates?? Have you heard the expression “if it ain’t broke don’t try to fix it?” My recent 13 purchases are now all messed up displaying first the stuff that I bought last year 2019 instead of displaying my most recent 12 transactions from 2020! Also once you hide your purchases you cannot do anything from the mobile app! You have to wait to view past purchases or check similar items, from the desktop. Please make sure the app & desktop features displays the same and allows for the same functionality. Thanks

    Every time I remove some from the saved for later list the page always refreshes itself and brings me back to the top and then I have to keep scrolling back down every time to remove another item and it gets a little annoying sometimes. I hope this problem can be fixed.

    App is really good and stable, I'm only missing two things: I cannot find my dashboard to keep up with my fees and power seller reqs, why do I have to use the website for that? Also, when I'm looking at my "Selling" page all of the listings show price and underneath it says +shipping, but it's painful to not be able to see if it's free shipping (I pay) or additional (buyer pays) Is that something that you could fix please? Thanks!

    Shame on you and shame on the people doing it ! We are all In this together and allow sellers to place critical Lysol and other disinfectant up for bidding is not very responsible . We all deserve a fair chance at getting these products to our homes , I simply refuse to bid on a can of Lysol . Sad 😞
