Awesome. I don't have a huge pile of receipts to sift through. Take pic, enter category, throw receipt in trash receptacle or burn it.
Works super well! Easy and quick way to upload and keep track of receipts and expenses.

I almost gave this 5 stars. Most of my expenses are flights and online purchases which provide me a PDF receipt. Unfortunately my only app options are to take a photo or upload from camera roll, no ability to add from Files.

Paid $10-15 for this app a few years ago for all features, now I guess they changed the subscription method and it doesn’t let me use all the features. It’s asking me to pay again and join a pro membership. Not cool when I already paid for the app.

This app has really simplified keeping track of expenses and reimbursements for our ministry. We have missionaries in 63 countries that we visit so the international conversion rate feature is a huge help for us. Plus being able to take a photo of the receipt and toss it is much better than trying to keep track of dozens of scraps of paper as you move from place to place.

I’ve been using the app for about 6 months for my job to track mileage. I use the GPS function often. But it crashes constantly and have to be sure to double check the mileage tracker on the app with my car because it’s often wrong after it crashes. Happens just about every time I use it to track trips. Defeats the point of the app if I have to check the miles every time.

I submit monthly expenses to work and somehow the app keeps closing my reports without my knowledge. Therefore, it doesn’t allow me to email receipts at all! This becomes detrimental when you’re trying to complete tasks efficiently!

Seems like i good app, it let me in, i added some recipts, then it said to click the validation link it sent, well i dont gave one and theres no way to resend it or even check/change which ‘email’ its sent to (where email means email or phone). Well you can log out and try again and it sends you a link but since your on your phone the link goes to the website, the website forces you to use the app, and redirects you to the app store, where you can see that you have already downloaded the app. You proceed to the app to find that the login has not succeeded. This is not a sneaky bug, it is literally just the expected sequence of steps, the most obvious bug imaginable.

Freezes constantly while recording miles 2/5
I’ve been using this app for over 2 years. I used to love this app, but now it freezes AT LEAST once a trip when it’s supposed to be recording miles. Please fix!
Administrative Nightmare 1/5
As a finance professional at a small company, we installed Expensify as a way to track and report travel related expenses.
Our staff enjoys Expensify, for it’s a user friendly alternative to using MS Excel documents, which were used until my arrival in 2016. We receive some complaints about the software’s functions such as OCR not working properly, etc, but overall their feedback is positive.
My rating, however, is based on the back end functionality of the software, where the controllers and accounting managers spend their time.
It is from this standpoint that Expensify is just terrible... terrible, terrible, terrible. Here’s why:
1) No customer service. If you have any issues no matter how benign or catastrophic, you’re going to wait at least a day to hear back. There are no humans you can call upon for help. Not a customer success representative to be found. New age tech companies are known for this, and Expensify is a model for forgetting customer service is key.
2) Have a question on a major transition to take place at your company? Go to its “community;” where you can sort through questions/answers posed by people just as confused as you are.
3) It’s set up so that employees (and their corporate credit cards) are synced to the company’s web domain... what happens when you change your company name or change your company’s wed address? You’re in for a journey. Changing are a complete nightmare... and you have no customer support to see you through the change.
4) Need to reconcile your company’s credit card spend between your credit card statement and Expensify reports? Forget about it. There’s no easy way to do such; doing so requires significant manual interventions. Expensify attempts to build such a report that achieve the need, but it’s clear such reconciliations are built by engineers and not accountant’s. Basic backend stuff.
5) Want to find out and/or troubleshoot an employee’s issue? Only Expensify does that. There aren’t very many administrative controls you can exercise over a user’s account. When going through our name change, each employee had to create new email addresses as alternate logins. As admins we were not allowed the functionality to do this from a systematic, org wide approach... all because of some quirk in Expensify’s design, which requires certain tasks to be performed in certain sequences unbeknownst to us.
6) Uncertainties about billing... we changed our billing owner, that triggered a change in our subscription, where our subscription was not auto renewed... thus we were charged $18 per user, not the $9 per user we agreed to. The change to its fee structure was buried in an email from it’s CEO about the company’s progress and sent to only select people in the organization and not Expensify admins.
In the end, the user experience is a dramatic improvement on spreadsheets; however it’s backend setup and faulty customer service model means we’re certainly beginning the process of seeking alternatives that balance both the user and administrative experiences.

I made an account and scanned some receipts, I subscribed and paid my $5 per month. But it keeps telling me I’m not subscribed.
So I delete it all and make a new account... same exact thing. I’ve now paid $10 and it tells me I’m still on the free account. Disappointing.

Great for scanning most reasonable receipts, but the mileage never works. Six weeks of waiting and money wasted only to have it continually crash after less than a mile. Had to cancel my subscription. I’ll pay half the subscription fee because the app only half works. Disappointing. Smooth otherwise.

Watch out, they trick you into a paid account $9/mo, then if you want to get out of it you won’t be able to get your receipts, invoices, reports or anything else out, so you will lose everything if you want to close the account! This has to be the most frustrating app I have ever worked with and the most condescending concierge: they told me that I must have accidentally signed up for the paid account! Wow!

I’m required to use Expensify for work but once I click the link in my email to verify the account it just brings me back to the App Store instead of redirecting me to the Expensify app.

I have had numerous issues with Expensify in working around limitations. Additionally, I have sent several messages from within the site to try to work out an issue that has been causing significant challenges to our accounting dept. I have not received any response to my request for help, which leads me to question the company’s commitment to support. With no phone support or any other method to resolve issues, I have been actively looking to take our business elsewhere.

I downloaded the app on my phone and put in my email. But when validating the email through the link that is emailed to me, it is a never-ending loop of being sent to the app store to download expensify....when I already have it downloaded.
Locks up frequently on iPad Pro 2/5
Title says it all. I can take a picture of the receipt and enter company name but as soon as I try to add the date, the app locks up. Every. Time. It’s unusable on my2018 iPad Pro. Please fix!

Used this app for 3 years. Made my life hell finally found zoho. Way better. Trying to navigate Expensify is difficult, takes 2-3 tries to creat one report because of auto name features and switching between invoices and reports gets worse with each update.

I love it how they enable the automatic report submission for me, then there is no option to disable it in the mobile app, and when trying to access their website from my phone the only available option after logging in is to go back to the mobile app. Indeed, I shouldn’t presume to know anything about what i want to do with my reports.
And of course why should a company in the 21st century provide a phone number for people to contact for support? The important decision-makers have the right phone numbers, and the regular users should just get on with the program. We are simply not important enough for the company to waste valuable resources on.
It is good to be reminded of our place in the grand scheme of things.

Used to be great. Now it can no longer upload pdf expenses that are emailed. So now it is easy to lose expenses. When you ask for help, it is clear that support is outsourced overseas. Always the same question. Never able to resolve the issue. Expensify needs to watch for pdf’s that fail to scan and fix them. This is why we pay you.

Expensify’s performance has fallen dramatically, it used to be stellar at reading receipts, even hard ones as I believe they had humans to back up if the machine can’t spot the correct information, unfortunately I have gone from 95% receipts read and entered to about 50% or less, I have ALOT of receipts and this app has completely dropped the ball for me as of lately. It also used to take a matter of MINUTES to scan and now takes up to a day? That’s ridiculous there is a great number of people who do all their expensing in one place and don’t have 24 hours to wait for a bunch of failed responses. They are now lazy, don’t even offer retrying and simply have you do it yourself. Unfortunate as it was once fantastic and well worth the money, now I am spending far more time and effort to get them done then what’s worth it.

We are going to organization that has a workforce spread across three states. Expenses were always a challenge both in collecting them and then and Getting the money back to our folks promptly.
It’s program has helped us immensely. It required little training and development and it was easy for almost everyone know understand and of course today everyone has at least one if not two or three cell phones. It’s a good program, it was well thought out and well developed
