Fabulous - Self Care app reviews

  • Game changer for ADHD 5/5

    By Start Planting
This app has two key positives that make all the difference in managing ADHD. 1) Helps you build actions into rituals, in a simple way, long enough to become a habit, or more like one than I’ve ever had in my life previously. It might sound insane to say that I’ve never been able to drink water when I wake up, floss my teeth everyday, or know where my house key is. But if you have ADHD you probably understand, and thanks to using the tools in this app, I not only perform these reliably, but can get back on track if things start to go a bit haywire. 2) Encourages positive self feedback. In addition to congratulating yourself for completion on a day to day basis, you might start to actually feel that you can rely on yourself. I did. I’ve generally felt like an out of control wreck my whole life, but strangely after a few weeks of drinking water and flossing my teeth I thought I could manage eating breakfast. These baby steps eventually included daily yoga and meditation, something I’ve wished for for two decades. I’m significantly less afraid to attempt change in my life, knowing I can get back to my routines and alter them if need be depending on changing circumstances. Fabulous isn’t a perfect app. It’s simple but the user interface isn’t always intuitive. Sphere costs money, and I think the true worth of the app is in Sphere. The golden triangle feature bugs me because it gives you a quote and a long loading period which you can’t turn off (and a choice to share to social media which I dislike). Although I understand the reasoning behind exercise being one of the first priorities, this did not personally work for me, and I chose to add exercise in during the mental toughness journey, having enough skills to actually fulfill my word. One size might mostly fit all, but despite it’s heavily designed nature, it’s up to you to use the app as a tool for yourself. Fabulous gives enough variety within it’s practice makes perfect scheme to make it a powerful ally.
  • LOVE this app! 5/5

I Love how this community has researched the most effective ways to form healthy habits and motivation! The gorgeous illustrations and various messages are truly incredible
  • Please cancel my account. 2/5

    By Navygirl84
I couldn’t figure out how to do it myself. Thx.
  • Use a different habit building app. 2/5

    By Mimi Schuy
I’ve been trying fabulous for a few days and am unimpressed. The turn off for me is how condescending the tone of the writing is. Other reviewers have compared it to conditioning techniques that used car sales men would use and I’d have to agree. I also dislike how hard they’re pushing the subscription. I haven’t been able to check out what the app is and whether it’ll work for me and it’s already asked me to make a $50 subscription multiple times. Lastly, the app works... but the UI is not as stream lined as I’d like it to be. Two stars for a working app.
  • No way to cancel after free week 1/5

    By Affirm#1fan
I accidentally got the “free week” when I was just looking to read about the free week. There is no where to cancel and it said that I am automatically going to be charged. I asked for info on how to cancel and the wrong instructions were given. When the free week was over, they charged me for an annual subscription. They have monthly and other options but they auto charged the annual. The person that gave me the incorrect info for cancelling after the free week, did nothing to help but only gave the wrong instructions, then I was charged for an entire year.
  • Too pushy 2/5

    By SakuyaStarwind
Seems overhyped. If you don’t pay for a premium membership or “sphere”, it makes you feel bad (options to accept or reject it include: “Yes I will help others” or “Leave me alone”, yeah that’s helping my self confidence). Mostly it’s just habit training with bright colors. I like Shine, Headspace, and Simple Habit much more.
  • Why was this downloaded 1/5

    By Dr bubba55
I never downloaded this. It just appeared on my phone. I have an iPhone so aps won’t do this. Remove this ap off the store.
  • Best app 5/5

    By kaleigh tringle
    Find this app amazing!!
  • Childish at best 1/5

    By 00jk1
First, I had to go through their questionnaire 4 times to get to the other side of the “magic mirror”. Then they lead me through a ridiculous “journey” - complete with scary pictures and music - ...if you think Micky Mouse, you are not far from the truth. Not for grownups IMHO. Now I’m trying to avoid charges- “cancel anytime” they say, but don’t display that option anywhere...
  • Can’t adjust premium version for existing habits 2/5

    By Possibilitiesnow
I’d hoped this app would be useful, but instead, it’s frustrating! The idea is good, but if it gives you habits you’re already partway toward achieving prior to buying the app, you can’t customize the level you’re at. For example, I already practice IF, on a 16:8 pattern. I’m aiming to do OMAD four times a week, and to increase to 18:6 two days a week. I don’t need practice with 5:2 and an 8 hour window, I mastered that months prior to buying this app. IF isn’t the only challenge where I’m experiencing this frustration. I want to be able to customize and adjust my sleep goals to support segmented sleeping, and to jump start my already existing fitness program. So frustrating.
  • I love this app but.... 5/5

  • Skinflint 4/5

I have yet to find anything to keep me from debating. I saw the $49.95 and bailed. Sorry.
  • New icon is awful 1/5

    By tekbyte
Love the app's functionality and it had a home on my main screen but not anymore after the icon update...
  • Felt cheated 1/5

    By leottt
I am very disappointed with this app. There was no notification regarding payment for a yearly subscription after a week of trial use. They just deducted without informing me. No response after writing for a refund as well too. I found no use for this app and have since deleted it. Felt super cheated.
  • CANCEL EVERYTHING 1/5

    By Mmc2019987654321
I have no idea how this “trial” has turned into like 20 subscriptions!! Please CANCEL ME FROM ANYTHING that has to do with Fabulous immediately!!! I’ve tried canceling straight from Apple Apps and even that isn’t working. I DO NOT WANT THIS APP.... or any app within the app. This is crazy.
  • So Helpful!!! 5/5

    By TLYR78
This app has helped me to mold a healthier mind, body and spirit!! So worth the money for the full app. I think of it as an investment in ME. Thanks guys Update: Can you either get rid of the quotes or make an option not to see them? It wouldn’t be so bad if it wasn’t the same few quotes repeatedly.
  • Ideas for improvement 3/5

    By Jesse mau
    1. After you complete a routine, the app cycles through a series of screens congratulating you and then showing you a quote. I wish this time was faster, allowed you to click through, or didn’t not show at all. The quotes are not motivating for me and I don’t like cheesy scenic backgrounds. They do not match the theme of the app. 2. I wish the Journey icons told you if they were apart of the paid subscription or free before you clicked on them. 3. I never use the launch button. I don’t know why it’s there. Everything I need for a routine is on the landing page. 4. I think you should make the challenges more visible. I’ve used the app for a few months and felt like I had accomplished all the the free version had to offer and then I rediscovered the hidden challenges off the useless launch button.
  • Annoying and so American 1/5

    By Smeks81
Very self help, touchy feely, rah rah cheerleader type of app. Annoying if you already do many of the “healthy” habits it forces on you and makes a big deal about.
  • Stupidest app ever - SCAM 1/5

    By CondimentGrrl
All it would do for three days is tell me to drink water saying I hadn’t unlocked any other motivations. Then it kept trying to badger me into inviting friends. Everything screams scam about this App.
  • Awsome habits change easily if we follow this 5/5

    By Krryan69
Great in analyzing human habits and slowly making them as our daily routine. Definitely you can see the change when you patiently follow the habits listed.
  • Thought this was Dan Ariely's project 5/5

    By when I rate
Which would be awesome. Dan is truly an amazing man doing so much good on this Earth. It's a pleasant surprise to see someone else's signature on the welcoming letter. To change the world for a better place, change the people for a better self. Center for Advanced Hindsight is doing God's work out here. Much, much respect for these bunch of awesome people.
  • You can do better 1/5

    By Travel Mayhem
This app was such a disappointment. It kept touting its behavioral credentials but when you get into the actual app, it’s not well designed at all...so those two things don’t always correlate! Who wants to read an overly wordy letter as inspiration!? And there isn’t enough ability to customize tour journey. It’s not well gamified and instead of feeling excited at each interaction, I felt disappointed and annoyed. It’s also very telling when an app wants you to pay upfront and then makes it hard to contact them (none of the email links are clickable, and when you do you get a return email that says they don’t monitor the inbox!), and then makes it hard to cancel. That’s always the sign of an app that knows it has issues. There are better designs out there. Don’t waste your money.
  • Doesn’t work for everyone 2/5

    By KatieKayyy
Fabulous sounds like a great idea, and I can see how many people can benefit from it, but the developers seems to have forgotten that not everyone is the same. The app started by telling me to drink water as soon as I wake up. It’s a great habit to pick up, but one I’ve already been doing for years. So I had to check that off for three days until the app became relevant again. The next task was to start your morning with a good breakfast, another great habit. Unfortunately though, I have a stomach condition and tend to wake up nauseous and can’t eat much for the first few hours of my day, meaning that the app is once again irrelevant to me. I also find it off-putting, as a vegan, that my phone keeps telling me to buy eggs. I wish the app was more accommodating for all types of people.
  • Over priced 1/5

    By montmayor
This app is not as good as I would expect for the money, I find this app disappointing in most areas for me.
  • Questions 5/5

    By KatStephens476
Please stop sending the questions. They are annoying and are common sense. I see no benefit from them. Please make it an option to turn them off or something.
  • Good but missing some essential habit tracking features 4/5

    By fehelix
Love this app! Think it’s far ahead of others on the market. However would love to see more traditional habit tracking features like having monthly goals or weekly goals rather than just daily settings. A web interface would be great too. Once this change is made there would be no reason to use another app.
  • Cool concept 3/5

    By doeinda
Cool concept. Confusing interface. While the concept is simplicity and clarity, the interface has a lot of things to click, read or do. And when I accidentally created a new routine, it won’t let me delete. I will try to keep the simple part going, as long as I do t get overwhelmed and confused by all the other things.
  • Mislead 1/5

    By Wittles12
Looks fine until you start then it say FREE for 7 days. Really trying to rope you into thinking it was free.
  • Accountability followup questions would be great 4/5

    By Caseyelizabethd
As with lots of other initiatives I try, I’m very motivated at the start and especially the first weekend when I have a lot of extra time. I teach third grade and everything seems like such a big deal that it’s hard to prioritize what’s important. The app helps with my self care morning routines a lot. Something I would like is the option (maybe user-enabled) some kind of accountability beyond the check mark, especially with the One Big Thing routine. I have a bad habit of “thinking” about the big thing or checking it without really doing it. It would be nice if I could enable accountability questions for some or all of the routines—like, “What color is your water bottle?” or, “Rate your breakfast,” or, “What’s your big thing?” or, “Where do you record your big thing?” It would be nice if the questions were random and kept me on my toes, especially as I wake up in the morning to get my brain energized a little bit.
  • I want a refund 1/5

    By Sabu
Do not care for this app. Please process a refund.
  • Poor 1/5

By ok this name taken yet?
Downloaded this specifically to do just ONE thing. Help me to remember and keep track of writing a gratitude journal. Simple right!? Not so with this app. Too structured, too fancy...wants you to BUY a program...uhhh no.
  • Almost the perfect app 5/5

    By Mollybrown227
I have been looking for something, anything, like this app for a long time. The importance of creating habits is something that has been a focus for me for years and I have tried so many ways to do this... I am grateful for this app and while I do skip around and modify... it’s always here to get me back on track... literally. After 4 days it actually lectures you into coming back! I have had difficulty as a busy person with an abnormal schedule in certain journeys but it’s not something that should take away a star. I designed a 100 day program I would love to discuss with someone from this company one day just to see what they thought. (If anyone from the company actually reads this).
  • Software doesn’t work on another phone. 1/5

    By RahulXavierSingh
I installed this app on one of my three iPhones. I paid for it with the lure of the trial period. During the trial period of your application I complained about how your app didn’t let me restore the purchase on a other phone. Then after acknowledging the issue they didn’t get back to me. Now there’s a 53 dollar charge for an application I cannot use. And then after that they still haven’t responded. I want money back.
  • Love! 5/5

    By Hayden.C.
I had been searching for an app that could help me better myself and get into new habits and routines. Every app I had seen only ever had certain aspects of what I was searching for, they never had every element and then I stumbled across Fabulous. While the cost to use the app for a year is a little high, it’s already helped me develop new routines that I think are going to benefit me in the long run. If you want “instant” results, this app isn’t for you but if you’re willing to commit yourself to a day by day journey with small goals that eventually lead to great results, than this app is for you. It focuses more on achieving daily small goals to help get your mind and body adjusted to a new routine and eventually you end up with a healthier and happier life. I haven’t been using it long, maybe two weeks but I can already tell a difference in my energy level. It’s definitely worth giving it a shot!

thanks i just want a refund // deleted the app the same day as downloading it // thanks
  • Patronizing tone 1/5

    By Peacegrl007
I’m a little puzzled by the high ratings, but then again I didn’t even get to the first challenge, because I immediately got a weird vibe. They lost me with the patronizing tone of the instructions for the first challenge and several instances of poor English grammar. I’d suggest some proper quality control and a change in tone. Also, when you have a button that says “Why am I doing this?”, the user doesn’t want the answer to be along the lines of “We know, we know! Just trust us, and do as we say.” Why bother even putting the clickable “Why am I doing this?” option in a challenge if you aren’t going to provide a logical and accurate reason behind it? No thanks. At that point I was turned off by the app and didn’t care to give it any more of my attention. Deleted.
  • Unresponsive customer service 1/5

    By Carynb61
I emailed to cancel 1 day before free trial ended and the still charged me anyway. SCAM alert!
  • Was promising until it got stuck 3/5

    By OldStPete
I liked the intro and set up sequence enough to subscribe (approx $50/year), but once I did that poor app couldn’t move on. It got stuck in a loop, parts of it seemingly unable get past the ‘seven day free trial’ screen and ‘manage subscriptions’ button. And if I somehow missed something that allowed it to move on, that wasn’t clear, so that’s another problem…
  • Fabulous is fabulous! 5/5

    By Eviecat25
I really like this app, it brings me out of my comfort zone and now I exercise I guess I don’t know?? But I really like how it gives you examples on what you can do in certain times you can do it. I enjoy the breathing exercises.
  • LONG BUT IMPORTANT: Enjoy the free content as quickly as possible 3/5

    By Mtking89
I think I know what people’s problems with this app is. I’ve had it on my phone for a month and fell off the wagon once the trial was up. I have a solution to people who want to enjoy this app’s free content. First, it requires you to sign up for a 7 day free trial, which will be renewed automatically if you don’t cancel before then. As soon as you sign up, go into wherever your purchases are stored on your phone, and cancel the subscription right away. You will still get the 7 day free trial. It’s duplicitous to say it’s $4 per month for 12 months to pay but put in the fine print “One time purchase” meaning you’re actually paying 50 dollars once your trial is up, and it breaks down to $4 a month. ( I see they’ve since fixed this but when I was signing up, it was deceiving.) The paid for content is too wordy and grasping for a deeper spiritual meaning. While that’s great, because I’m all about deeper reflection, it’s not what most people want based on these reviews. For the users: During your 7 day free trial, there’s an Plus symbol to add additional habits. I would add any and every daily task that you would possibly do. I added a few things and thought great! However, once the trial’s up, you can no longer utilize creating your own habits. Just the default ones and the ones you have previously made. So if you want to keep using the app because it’s helpful, write out all the habits to add before your trial ends. Since the developers read and respond to these reviews, if they advise anyone not to do this or discontinue that ability, then that should be a huge red flag for anyone reading this. One other thing, there’s an overwhelming and I do mean overwhelming amount of people complaining about being charged after 7 days, and of the cost. The terms of what is and is not available after 7 days is not clear. All it says is Sphere access. While I took some time to explore Sphere while I could, it was too much, Fabulous, the app itself with the day-to-day habits—is what is most enjoyable and useful. The reviews reflect that, yet the developers are still trying to make people pay over 50 dollars in one sitting. I pay less than that on a TRUE monthly basis, for 200GB or additional cloud storage for my iPhone. Wanted to add post review: it looks like now there is a monthly option of 14.99 or $50 a year. Still too much. You can enjoy Pandora Premium for less than that per month. Nothing should be completely free, but this app needs to adjust its price point. It just does. Also, restricting the abilities of the Fabulous app once it’s past the 7 day trial is kinda sleazy. The content of Fabulous should remain as it is, allowing people to use it. The paid for content should be absolutely stellar to demand the price its asking for. More people will think about buying the paid content, if the developers were more clear about what is and isn’t being offered. In fact, a chart with a list of exact features is what most subscriptions do. This one is too confusing. One last thing, and others have also commented on this. The developers reply to the reviews here. There’s a tone, while well-meaning, that just doesn’t rub me the right way. They comment to people like they just don’t understand the greatness of the app and to give them another try, instead of acknowledging they will work to make the terms of conditions and features more easily understood. Allow people to change their habits with the free content after the 7 day free trial. Make a list of features and the differences for both Fabulous and Sphere. Offer the app for less than 14.99 monthly or a one time payment of $50. That said. I will happily change this review to 5 stars, if they change the Fabulous feature to allow people to adjust their personal habits after the 7 day free trial. This is a great app, but the mechanics of payment and the features offered need to be presented better.

  • Good for people who need structure. 5/5

    By azul-pye
I really like what this app is about, but the goals arnt for me. I already do the things it asks of you. It takes things slowly to build structure; however I would prefer if this had options of where to start.
  • Feels like a trap 1/5

    By rheidjdkgijs
I was immediately put off by the onboarding experience so I decided not to bother going thru the rest of the trial. Since I was told during the signup that I'll be automatically charged after one week, I searched for a way to opt out and stop using the app altogether. There was no option to do so. I also looked into their FAQ page and I couldn't find anything regarding this matter there either. Now I'm here on their app store page to see what others have said about it and seems like I'm not the only one who's stuck. I've just read a few reviews saying they wanted to cancel and had no way to do that so ended up being charged $50. If there is in fact a way to cancel before being charged within the app, you did a great job hiding it. Please tell me how to avoid paying $50 for an app I'm not going to use.
  • How to unsubscribe 1/5

    By leedeeceemee
This would be a good app for some, however, it’s awkward to navigate, has WAY too much wordy reading, and I found it to be deceptive in telling you how to turn off auto renew. FYI, go to settings, iTunes and App Store, click on your iTunes ID, then click on Subscriptions. You’re welcome.
  • Not clear 1/5

    By Ahmed Omran
The app seems to be free but as downloaded and signing it appears that just free trail. Stupid, they should be clear from the beginning instead of wasting my time !
