Florida Storms app reviews

  • Great App, no annoying advertising 5/5

    By rossval22
Everything seems to work pretty good with this app and no annoying ads. Only one thing I found as a negative is that it didn’t keep up with my location that well to warn me of incoming storms. While another app I have warned me, this one did not (and both seem to use the same “Safety Net Alerts” settings setup). Also, I don’t know if this is an app issue or my phone, but for some reason my phone gets really hot temp wise when I use this for more than a few minutes.
  • Location tracking bummer 3/5

    By Scall0way
Nice to see radar, and listen to my local radio station. I hate that the location tracking feature choices are only ALWAYS or NEVER. Most of my apps that need a location offer an option of ONLY WHEN USING APP and this is what I always choose. I don't need or want any apps killing my battery life by constantly polling my location when I'm not using them, only when I'm using the app. Since this app doesn't offer that my only choice is to select NEVER which sort of defeats usability features of this app.
  • A real battery killer 1/5

    By TallyChip
This app constantly runs your GPS, even when it's not in use, greatly reducing your battery life. There's no need for such a design.
  • Works Great with One Exception 4/5

    By Bill135786545
When location is turned to Always and my local radar (Melbourne) is selected the Melbourne radar appears for about a minute, then the current location icon turns grey and the local radar turns back to the default (Jacksonville). This only occurs on iPad.
  • Notifies but radar and map problem 2/5

    By Pdk754
Wrote a review in August. Four months later, same problems! I get notifications when lightening, thunder, storms are nearby. When I open the app, the map rarely loads over the city I'm in. The radar shows the map the same way. Many times, it either doesn't play, or it's playing up to half an hour ago. Not recent. Worked for a while after last update. Problems are all back again.
  • Undependable 1/5

    By Pop a top "unltd"
When I load this app it's very slow and half the time such as today, it's raining all around with storm warnings. This app shows clear skies all over. The tornado boxes pop up but the map shows all clear.
  • Very useful 5/5

A must have app for any Floridian looking for real time storm and lightning warnings
  • Radar Hardly Works 2/5

    By ktownwaterboy
The app is handy in some ways. It gives a very accurate account if lightening is in your area. Don't use it for radar tho. It usually never loads and when you try to play the animation it just sits there. Could be a good app, but needs lots of work
  • Don't download 1/5

    By DarknessTigerpaw
First, you must sign away your life to a TOS contract then the app can't figure out where you are (I'm in Florida not Africa) and it doesn't give you the weather where you are. Non stop advertising ruins everything. Don't bother downloading. Deleted
  • Privacy and battery life please! 1/5

    By acrisis
Another app that requires ALWAYS ON location sharing, instead of while using the app ... Which means you get to follow me around the country and while draining down my battery in the process and eating up some of my limited data. Feeds and stations show up blank, likely due to me opting out of location sharing. There should be a manual location option as well as on demand WHILE USING.
  • Audible alerts? 4/5

    By BubbeJ
There is quite a bit of good information in this app…. very impressive and just what I was looking for. I have gone into settings to be sure I am alerted when there is lightening in the area. IS there an audible sound alert? I see the screen alert setting, BUT I would benefit greatly from a loud sound alert as well. Thanks!!
  • Requires location data 3/5

    By C to the L
If you don’t have Location Access turned on it’s pretty useless except for the map. You ought to be able to pick your location (or home station) without using location services. Also, only location options are Never and Always and I really want the “While Using the App” option to be enabled. Maybe this is an error because the prompt implies that’s what you may be setting.
