QA asleep at the wheel 1/5
Latest update killed assistant response on Sony M3 headphones. With no feedback on what’s happening I must have disconnected/reconnected my headphones a thousand times trying to fix. :(
UPDATE: Sony updated the headphones to work with Alexa and THAT works great!
Honestly Amazing 5/5
By Gino Ariola
I used to have an android phone, and I used google assistant a lot. I found it that I liked google assistant much better than Siri, so I installed this app. I was worried because I thought that I would have to enter the app every time I want to do something with my assistant. But no. All you have to do is go to your assistant settings and add a Siri shortcut. All you have to do is activate Siri than say the shortcut you put in, and it opens the app.
Buggy App 2/5
This app keeps asking me over and over to log in. Even if you select Cancel or Continue you can’t ever get back to the home screen without rebooting your phone. Guess Google wants to rule the world.
Needs work 2/5
When I first started using this app, I was very impressed with its ability to provide information that Siri never could. The voice recognition is much better and it does have some really neat features. The problem is, once you enable certain settings, (such as having Assistant tell you good news daily) it’s next to impossible to disable it. Actually, it was literally impossible for me, even after doing numerous web searches, desperately trying to figure out how to stop google from reading me news at the same time every day. Does that really sound like something that should be difficult? Getting “good news” was a nice idea at first, but it got annoying. Why is it so simple to get it to start these things, but not to disable them? I asked the Assistant every which way I could think of to make these alerts stop, and suddenly it turned into Siri, responding with the old: “I can do a web search for that.” The point of these mobile assistants is so you don’t have to do things like pull up a web browser and manually search for things. If Google’s Assistant can remotely adjust things like the thermostat in my house, I’d think it would be able to handle tasks that aren’t asking for much. Like turning off one simple feature. And forget about trying the settings menu. It’s not in there. You can customize things like a morning routine, but any other random things you get it to do automatically are nowhere to be found. I spent 15 minutes on it before finally giving up and deleting the app altogether out of frustration. I am seriously disappointed because I thought this would be my solution to Siri’s uselessness. Good try, Google. You almost had me. Would’ve been a five star review, had you provided a COMPLETE LIST of customizable features. I don’t know what secret codeword is required to say to Assistant to make those custom alerts stop, but if there’s only one way to say it, it should be made clear what it is. I love my iPhone, but Apple’s lack of customizable features and settings for iPhones (in what I assume is an effort to be “minimalist,” or “easy-to-use”) is already infuriating enough. For such [allegedly] advanced technology, there should seriously be more you can customize. Everything is so oversimplified, it’s maddening trying to customize the most basic settings and features that a computer from 10 years ago could’ve done with the click of a button. So, already being fed up with Apple’s feature-barren phones, I really don’t need more of that crap from any third party apps. I’m about two seconds away from becoming a Samsung person.
Very glitchy 1/5
The app is nice except for the fact that it is full of bugs.
For instance, when trying to work with routines I kid you not about 50% of the time it says “something went wrong” and won't load any information. I have to back out to the previous screen where again, about 50% of the time it AGAIN says “something went wrong” forcing me to back out yet ANOTHER screen. Sometimes it takes 5 or 6 tries to get in to modify a routine. It is absolutely infuriating.
Another issue is about once a week it pops up a box telling me “Google Assistant wants to use google.com to sign in”. But it pops up every 2-3 seconds EVEN THOUGH I CLICK OKAY. In another words, it continues to pop up more and more boxes, as I am trying to sign in. Even when I close the app it CONTINUES TO POP UP BOXES!! I have to force close the app and reopen it.
For such a reputable company it's ridiculous that their app has so many bugs that make it nearly impossible to use. Therefore, one star.
Clumsy interface 3/5
The Google app is more seamless.
Just ok 2/5
Couldn’t play music or podcasts till I signed up for Spotify. Will not connect with my contact list no matter how many different people have tried to connect it, so cannot make calls or text for me. It will give me the latest news for the day but that’s about it.
Very Strange... 1/5
I asked the App to open Google Maps. It properly captured the sentence but open another App called Rappi... :(
Home screen problem 3/5
By karina juice
I don’t know how to home screen google and Siri said … wrong assistant …so yeah. And also the instructions said it wrong I never written a review before but I really want to get a google assistant like Lele pons and Hannah stocking but it doesn’t work .When I search google pixel and it said …r u a robot … but I don’t delete it
Voice compatible except on the open command 2/5
By Ben Shapleigh
I agree with the previous reviewer. I really want full voice integration, which means I can open it with a voice command i.e. as you do with 'hey Siri'. This seems to be default on Android OS, but unfortunately the superior Google Assistant cannot replace Siri.
Fix it apple!!! 1/5
Let us get to google assistant automatically with saying hey siri, okay google !!!!
Apple Watch App? 3/5
I feel this app could be greatly utilized as an app for the Apple watch.
Great app but neeeeds Apple Watch LTE support 4/5
By DC Pump
Once you've opened the Google assistant it works great on the iphone. Getting to it is not super easy. You can ask Siri to open it by creating a shortcut and say hey Siri hey Google and it works most of the time.....
The killer potential here is on the watch. Add watch support as a complication to any watch face, allow it to use LTE so it doesn't require the phone and then it becomes really useful and available with a tap from the watch screen.
Editing routine does not work 3/5
By Tr ng
For iphone, i cant view the new routine in the google assitant app. I dont see where is the “delete” routine button. So old routine keeps playing everyday and I cant get rid of it.
They broke it 1/5
This new update it Google Assistant no longer knows my name and even though my routines are set on my app and news sources it is at the default setting
What did you all do???
Fix my google assistant
Missing option 1/5
Turkish language is not listed on the language options. Cannot change it.
Gsuite users have no core features 1/5
I pay for a gsuite account (instead of using a free Gmail account) so that I can have a custom domain. Unfortunately gsuite customers have an inferior experience - Assistant can't access calendar, email, contacts and other core services. Assistant is supposed to be this fantastic AI service the brings out the best of all these Google services but ironically the *paying* customers get none of this. Super frustrating... Especially because they don't disclose this and you probably only find this out the hard way (AFTER you switch to gsuite)
Works pretty good but when used on Google phones(Pixel phones) it is out of this world,I’m sure apple throttles it down some when used on apple devices.

We want to add Arabic language.
The reason It's 4 stars is because it can't do much on the iPhone. 4/5
By 💕Ashley 💕
Way better then siri, but get permission from Apple for ”okay google” please. I also love the British racing green voice.
Awful doesn’t work at all 1/5
By S Rovers
I’ve been trying to add Bose headphones to it but it will now connect and it says visit help center but that button doesn’t even work.If I could give it no stars I would.
Can’t refrain my voice match 2/5
Whenever I try to do so the keyword prompts the app to start trying to answer a request, thus interrupting and ending the retrain process just as I was starting.
Replace Siri? 1/5
By Dr jones98
Until I can replace the garbage that is Siri with this it gets one star. Apple, I know you want to push your software, but have the common sense to recognize when you’ve lost. Your fanboys will still buy iPhones, and you’ll probably even sell more.
12/24 can’t unload app 1/5
By Avg Guy
App forces login... can’t quit or unload the app. Tries to take over the phone.
Response to KrogerCouponer 5/5
KrogerCouponer, if you’re reading this, you can now control Google Assistant hands free with the Shortcuts app. When you have added the shortcut, you can say “Hey Siri, OK Google. Please keep the Google Assistant app, KrogerCouponer. Thank you.
Problem with “Hey Google” Siri Shortcut 2/5
The app for the most part works as it’s supposed to. I was really excited to hear that the app was to get support for Siri Shortcuts, allowing “Hey Google” support for Siri. However, when I try to trigger the shortcut after adding it in the Assistant app itself, by saying “Hey Google” to Siri, she prompts me to “Continue in the app.” instead of automatically opening the Assistant app and waiting for a request, defeating the purpose of the shortcut altogether. Please fix this.
So much for shortcut that opens up automatically! 1/5
What happened to being able to open the assistant with Siri automatically? Guess you jumped the gun on that one.
I love google assistant way more than Siri. It’s so much smarter, and so much more useful. I honestly recommend this to anyone and everyone.
What is the point of this? 2/5
By Kunwar Kochar
So let me get this straight. I have Google search, home and chrome all with built in voice search and I need to have this one as an additional app? Adds no real value.
Just build it into the search app. Jesus.
Hey Everybody 5/5
The app works great but when the app keeps asking you to sign in and you are giving two open cancel or continue. Well let’s makes it short you can get out off the app. So I just uninstalled then reinstalled it the it works ok for the time.
Crashed my phone 1/5
When clicking the “add to Siri” function it kept asking me to allow log on the website. Endless no matter I click confirm or cancel !!!!!! Can’t believe Google made this. Worst and most evil company on earth ever!
Home And Lockscreen 4/5
I really love it! but i really wish you could access it from the lock screen and home screen 😫
Assistance voice training 1/5
1) URC is linked to google home. I keep getting errors that assistant is unable to match my voice and hence cannot turn on/off the tv. Dont know why 3rd party devices need voice match
2) when i try to retrain voice it asks to repeat"ok google" once i say "ok google" it takes me out of the training page to home page. That means the train voice feature will never work.
Needs work 4/5
It's a must have but certain things don't work such as the latest update. The alarm feature is broken. When is triggered it just says your "alarm is on". Well, that won't help you much when you are asleep!
Glitch: Typing 3/5
Worked well, then fell off when attempting to type in search bar, would not be able to type on any of my two keyboards. One, iOS and the Google keyboard. Only button(s) that would work when searching was anything not occupied by the keyboard, albeit a bit slow to respond. Everything else, works perfectly.
I wish I could give it zero stars 1/5
Basic stuff like keeping track of my packages (shipped, estimate delivery) that the Google app did really well is now plain broken. Tracks only Amazon stuff, and even that can't do more than basic one-item orders.
It's one giant Christmas tree if actions I don't need.
Fix it, Google!
Sign in neverending error 1/5
Please fix!!! It will randomly sign me out of google assistant and then keeps popping up option to either Cancel or Continue, which you can't get out of. I have to keep restarting my iPhone 8 because it won't even let you close out of the app or get to your home screen. Please fix!! Otherwise I will be uninstalling!!!!
My Andriod Google Assistant is way better 1/5
By Michael From Houston
My Samsung S8 Google Assistant is beyond better than this crude. Horrible dictation skills of the apple iOS Google Assistant. Could be due to crap technology of Apple. Shrugs.
Good but a very important question 1/5
HOW DO YOU DELETE THE APP
iwatch integration 3/5
Please add app on iwatch
Better than Alexa and Siri 5/5
By Magic Wizard1
Just better sounds better, looks better, awesome
Slow down 5/5
I don’t know if there’s already a way to change this, but for the morning routine I need the ability to change how fast my assistant goes over the weather and my daily calendar before turning my music on. It goes so fast I can’t read it and when I tried to go read it, its like it disappeared. Other than that she’s great!
Better search than Siri, but bad design 2/5
By Bill in Akron
Google Assistant is well intentioned, but like a Swiss Army Knife, the bundled tools work, but they compromise ultimate functionality in favor of bundling.
My main interest for the app is tracking stocks, whose function was removed from the Google App. Every iteration seems to get worse in this aspect. I have stocks I have never searched show up in my list, can’t see some stocks that ARE on my list and there is no obvious way to delete stocks I no longer want to track.
Apple Sabotaging Shortcut 5/5
The latest update allowed for Siri shortcut but apparently Apple doesn’t like it and has sabotaged the shortcut feature of using Siri to launch the Google assistance. Grow up Apple, Siri is subpar and you don’t like it.
By Andy Koval
Speech recognition results are unpredictable. Worse than that, they are stupidly unpredictable
Google assistant glitches a lot 1/5
I had google assistant for 3 months and now it glitches a lot.it doesn’t let me do anything.
