Google Assistant App

Meet your Google Assistant. Ask it questions. Tell it to do things. It’s your own personal Google, always ready to help. Find answers and get things done while on-the-go with the help of your Google Assistant. Remind yourself to stop by the store, pull up your travel photos to show a friend, or make a dinner reservation. With the Assistant app, you can: - Make quick phone calls (e.g. "Call Mom.") - Send text messages (e.g. "Text my bestie.") - Email your boss (e.g. "Here is the latest TPS report.") - Set reminders (e.g. "Remind me to buy a birthday gift for Sarah.") - Set calendar events (e.g. "Set a calendar event for dinner with Charlie tomorrow from 7-9.") - Play music (e.g. "Play jazz music on YouTube.") - Navigate places (e.g. "Get me directions home.") - Weather information (e.g. "Do I need an umbrella today?") *Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

Nice App. Latest release will not let you manage the room names in home control. Can’t add, delete, or rename rooms. :(

I only use google assistant to ask where I should drop in fortnite. 70% I win at the drop google gave me
  • Way better than Siri 5/5

    By mintfive
much more accurate and more proactive at answering. Instead of directing you to the web and clicking links for the answer (hard to do while driving and a hassle overall) google assistant quite often tells you the answer. I would rather use the assistant my iPhone came with, but I just don’t feel it has improved in years. I would never buy any smart home product powered by Siri because of this.
  • Entrepreneur can’t use my own business email 2/5

    By StyleConcierge
I love this app except for one thing, I am an entrepreneur and I have an email address with my companies url. Google assistant won’t allow you to log in as that account; however it’s where I do all my calendaring and keep all my contacts. This is so important to me that I rated it low. Most people who need an assistant need it for work purposes, so this app should work with our work emails.
  • Calendar integration broken out of the box 2/5

    By YouAlreadyForgot
Scheduling is the most useful thing an assistant can do. Google Assistant currently can’t schedule anything, at least not for my usage scenario. I don’t own any Google Home speakers. I use G Suite for my one and only Google account. While Assistant recognizes my Google account like all the other Google apps, it doesn’t seem to see my calendar(s). No, not weird shared calendars, just the default calendar associated with my Google account. Even stranger, it can see my upcoming reminders, which would imply that it can access my calendar data. And yet, no calendar-related commands work for me. Until calendar integration works for G Suite users, Assistant is a non-starter.
  • Could be my secondary assistant 5/5

    By Kenneth Bixcul
I’ve been using the google assistant since I got my google home. I tried the app and it works. On my iPhone, Siri would my primary assistant and google assistant could be my secondary assistant
  • Apple should stop wasting money on Siri and pay google to integrate this in iOS 5/5

    Siri 👎🏼 Google assistant 👍🏼
  • Addicted to a AI 5/5

I play some video games on my phone sometimes, but after me messing with the app store, I found out that this is available on my iPhone. So I got it, and no regrets. First off, sence I own a Google home, she took my voice thing from my Google home app into the Google assistant app so I don't have to set it up again. Also, today I asked what she thinks about Alexa and she said that she likes her blue light and that her voice is smooth. I kinda freaked out, knowing that Amazon took down a app because the word Google was in it. I asked about Siri and she wondered if she was ok. Also with Cortana it was full respect because it's hard being a assistant. She even calls them there friends. Man, even nice on everyone else, and that's dealing with money and bankruptcy. Best app.
  • Please fix google assistant on iPod touch 5G 1/5

    By RyosukeKudosachi
if there is one thing I have to say I love Google assistant I use it all the time on my android phone and tablet both come with included marshmallow 6.0 however I just downloaded the iOS version and it barely works at all on my iPod touch 5G 9.3.5 I have the latest version but every time I go in the app it will work for about five minutes after that it will immediately stop responding I can't do anything after that I am forced to close the app and go back in but it will do The same bull crap all over again this is truly unacceptable from Google they have one of the best top engineers and programmers to make this app work on iOS 9 devices it should be optimized for the iPod touch 5G because the Google app works better compared to Google assistant I am not happy at all it's barely functional and I refuse to use Siri because she is not even close better than Google assistant Who knows it could be Apple trying to screw up Google assistant in order to force people to use Siri which I highly doubt that is the case such a shame I was really looking forward to using Google assistant but I guess I have to wait until google make a new update and fully optimize this app for iPod touch 5G until then I guess I have no choice but to rely on Google app until they fix this😢👎 once it's fixed I will happily give it five stars😇🙏
  • Not voiceover accessible. You are breaking the law. 1/5

    By Reece O'Bryan
The American with disabilities act says that you have to offer any services that you offer to the general public to any users that might need an accommodation because of the disability. Because you did not and have not added VoiceOver support, visually impaired or blind users are not able to use this application and any of them could sue you for it...
  • Calendars 3/5

    By happy_symptom
It can still only read one calendar? After all this time?
  • Not bad on IOS. 4/5

    By AppleHans
I love Google assistant. It’s so much better tha. Siri. Wish there was a way it would be native when you press the Siri button, but I just tell Siri to open Google Assistant. I wish Assistant would read all my calendars and not just the google calendars, like the Google Calendar app does. I can pull up calendars that are on my iOS calendar so why can’t Assistant do the same thing? Hopefully in a future release. Thanks for all the work google on the IOS apps! Well done.
  • Google Assistant isa 5/5

Siri killer at. Max take that Apple
  • Great , but app is flakey 3/5

    By eb1171
Google assistant is way better than Siri. Only issue is that when using 3D Touch as a shortcut to use Assistent by voice, there is no voice recognition once the app opens. You have to close the application ( actually close the app, not just close and reopen ) in order to get voice recognition back working
  • Good but no local news 3/5

    By julied2010
I am very disappointed in Google Home for not having the ability to customize the news. And I totally understand why. Google, the website, has a section where you can customize news. Why does this not tie in with the Home? Amazon Alexa has a wonderful interface for customizing the local news.

I bought the Home Mini under a week ago and since day 1 The home many acts is if I summoned it with the “hotword” when I didn’t. More users are having the same problem. I already packed it back up ready to drive it back to the store before the grace period ends

Good for people trying to get a feel for assistant before getting a google home. Also it is useful to control things like lights on you phone because apple dose not support as much smart home products as google.
  • iPad? 1/5

    By Yogibear 20
I downloaded it on iPad and it looks it is scaled for tablet but the app is designed for iPhone. Is this normal?
  • Better than Siri 5/5

    By Sandra the iPhone
The Google Assistant is all around much better than Siri. It's sad Apple hates Google so much that we can't get system level integration, because that would draw much more people to the iPhone.
  • So so 1/5

    By Snugglebug001187
This application could be good but the problem is it’s very buggy when you open the application nothing happens and It just sits there trying to load. When it works it works good.
  • Love it 4/5

    By Cantrben
I love using Google Assistant! I didn’t realize how useful it was until I got a Google Home Mini for Christmas! Now I use it for just about everything! There is hundreds of things you can have your assistant do and the phone version is the same as Google Home! The only down side is I wish you could use voice activation on the iPhone, but that’s hardly a deal breaker for me!
  • Better then Siri 4/5

    By Angry birdssssdjwiqodjebwkaid
But there should be a specific app for iPad
  • Just saying 5/5

    By Hshsgshsyhswhs
This app can't run native because it's by Google. Apple already has Siri so why would they need another "app" that works better (especially if it got integrated) and has way more sources. Google is clearly better in a lot of ways. Not saying ALL the ways just like 99%. But once again, apple owns the Siri "app" or whatever you want to call it. That's why it's not integrated.
  • Needs an iPad app 4/5

    By One fitz two fitz
The most disappointing thing about this app is that it didn’t work on my iPad. That is extremely painful because I own a pixel phone so if I want to use my iPad to control my google home and chrome-cast. Other than that google is killing it in the smart assistant interface and works way better than Siri.
  • So hard 1/5

    By angry with google
I found the google home mini to be so hard to set up we have had it since Christmas 2017 and we still don’t have it completely or at all figured out do something this shouldn’t be so hard when I figure this device out maybe I will put in a better review

    Please add!
  • Why do you need access to my device information? 2/5

    By Dharma Prema
Why do you need access to my device information? I don’t want to give you my contact information. That’s too much intrusion of my privacy. Yes it is good, no I won’t give you permission. Therefore, good bye assistant. You already know too much about me... go monetize something else, not my contacts info.
  • iPad Support 5/5

This is awesome for Google Assistant to be used in Apple products. Only drawback is that it’s only supported to iPhones. Please add iPad support with full screen.
  • Horrible 1/5

    By D34THR4G3
Using iPhone and Google Assistant Device. It allowed me to sync contacts and music etc.... I can only use it for pandora, web, and news. Can’t make calls, texts, calendar events, timers, alarms.....pretty much anything you would need it for!!!!
  • Way better than Siri 5/5

    By Hitman777GB
I have only used this a few times but I already know it is way better than Siri. The app gives you actual answers. Siri always gave sites to look up for the answer. I will be using this app a lot more than I ever used Siri.
  • Amazing! But... 5/5

    By Andrew6386
I love the google assistant! It’s great! However it would be even better if it had a hot word on iPhone. As of right now it only works in the app but it would be awesome if it worked outside the app. But it shouldn’t be ok google because the original google app uses that and they would conflict. It would be cool if it was something like “hi google” or “google assistant” and so on. But over all, this is the best ai experience I’ve come across. It’s useful, open, takes advantage of the google search engine, user friendly, unique, and has a slight charm and an almost a human personality and realistic interface.
  • Lacks native iPad resolution support 3/5

Seems strange to not have the app run on an iPad.

  • Make it work on iPad 1/5

    Make it compatible for iPad.
  • “Updated the app” 1/5

    By xorgate
So, what did you update? I wish Apple would deny updated apps like this that says NOTHING about what changed?
  • Could be great 2/5

    By chardros
Google assistant is fantastic at answering questions and that’s about it. For home automation is has the serious flaw of not knowing which room it’s in, even when you go through the effort of assigning it to one. If you say “hey google, turn the lights on”, and you are standing in the kitchen talking to a google home that has been assigned to the kitchen you’d expect the kitchen lights to come on. Alas you’d be wrong, for every light in the house will turn on (assuming all lights are connected to some sort of smart hub). By contrast, Alexa nails this correctly. Siri behaves like Google, having no concept of a Siri listener assigned to a location. Beyond this, Google assisting fails at certain tasks if you’re using a G Suite account. For example, it cannot read calendar information from a G Suite account. This is baffling since Alexa can. Google wrote assistant and G Suite... how does Amazon support this and Google doesn’t? It boggles the mind... If google solves some of these extremely frustrating problems, the platform will become a lot more compelling, as the conversational component does feel a lot more natural than any other assistant.
  • Awful Smart Home Integration 2/5

    By Squatting Hen
I am extremely frustrated at trying to have my smart devices work correctly with Google Home/Assistant. I have numerous devices all setup with Smartthings, including ceiling fans, lamps, outlets, and light switches that all work with voice commands. I have been using Alexa for a while now and have not had any issues operating my smart devices, but I did purchase 6 Google Home Minis, with the intention of moving form Amazon to Google. Unfortunately, if what I am experiencing can’t be corrected, I will have to abandon Google Home for Smart Home/Smart Devices. What I am experiencing is that Google is grouping all of my “lights” “lamps” “outlets” together. This needs to be optional, or we need the option to be able to select which lights/lamps/outlets we would want in this group. For us, if someone says to turn on the lamp and accidentally forgets to use the name of the lamp, all the lamps turn on. Same with a lights, they all turn on or off. Completely unacceptable. People sleeping are being woken up because of this. We have kids and if they say turn on my lamp instead of the name of the lamp then all the lamps/lights turn on. All of them. With Alexa, if you don't say the name (or group you create) it will let you know more than one device shares that name, which one did you want? You can then clarify. With that, no unwanted lights turn on or off. Is there something I am missing? This can’t be right? If so, Google developers must not utilize smart home devices. Or the only have one of each device.
  • Good, but restricted by apple. 2/5

    By theecalvinator
I love Google assistant. I use it in my home for home control, alarms, questions, etc... However the app on iPhone is restricting. You have to go through steps of opening it like a normal app (I know that's just an Apple thing) but what gets me is reminders and directions. I'll use my Google home to set reminders to do something but my iPhone will not pop up with that reminder at the location or time I chose. Likewise, when I ask for directions it says "I sent them to your phone" but nothing ever come through. I use to be able to get reminders and such on my iPhone but they do not come through anymore like they are supposed to.

    By gotogupta
It's definitely better than Siri but I wish I could say okay google in the app.
  • Nice 5/5

Nice, but I think I'll keep Siri. Google is great on Android, and Siri is great on iPhone! I use Google Assistant on my Android devices.
  • This is awesome but 3/5

Every passing iteration of this app that does not have support for Apple watch annoys me. Google Apple work it out already. You all need each other
