Please do not get! 1/5
By Blue Pacifier
This app is completely garbage, if you even try to cite anything.... NOPE! There is no tool for that on iPad. Even trying to format it or just trying to plain select everything messes everything up. More sweetness on the cake there is no ‘tab’ tool so try to get that spaced out and it not looking like a complete mess. By the way this is 0 stars not 1. If you need to get work done I suggest TRYING To get a Another app.

Google Docs App 5/5
By Miss Scarlet7
I have really enjoyed using Google Docs app for Google Drive. The app lacks a few editing features such as cut and paste, so those edits must be done in Drive on my Mac. I cannot format tables, etc. on my phone or iPad as well as on my Mac, but I am a huge Google fan.

FIX THE CRASHING!! 3/5
Hey Google, dark mode is nice but can you please fix this majorly buggy app!
Google Docs is great; it makes communicating and collaborating with others SO much easier. Instead of saving a new copy and sending it to the other party, waiting for an updated document to be returned, we have access to an instantly updated version at all times, in theory. On the computer I have no issues with Docs, everything runs so smoothly and as intended. But the iOS app has such disruptive bugs and glitches. It has been over a year since the app became crash-happy. I waited, figuring that this surely must be a widely reported problem that would be promptly addressed by the tech end. No, nope, uh-uh... but dark mode does look pretty sleek!
The Docs app is vital for the 80% of time that I can’t or don’t have a computer in front of me. I want to love it. I want to move it to my phone dock next to my other most-used apps, and out of the folder of shame that is several swipes away from my home screen. PLEASE, address the following bugs so that I can go back to happily admitting that Google runs my life and knows more about me than I do!
1) Random and frequent crashes while writing. 2 or 3 times in an hour or hour and a half period the typing stalls, app freezes, a brief black screen flashes and then suddenly I’m looking at my home screen. The app has to be completely reopened and load with lag before I can scroll to find my place and complete the word and thought that got cut off. I persist, only for this to happen repeatedly during a single writing session.
2) I have to lock my screen orientation to use the app. If the screen flips from portrait to landscape for even a split second, the app freezes and eventually blacks out and crashes.
3) Occasional the app lags hard, especially when first opened. I’ve learned by now to just keep typing; the invisible sentence typed while the cursor is frozen in place will eventually fill itself in. Just hope you don’t make a typo or two that then distracts you from your current thought when the text suddenly catches up with you.
4) I’m not sure exactly what is happening in this case but for months now, the person I collaborate with the most has been loading super spotty updates to the document. He might refresh or restart the app a dozen times in one morning and still not see my edits from the previous two days. Other times, he gets the updates instantly. This creates a serious disruption in our progress and communication that has to be checked and sorted during each of our weekly meetings. I suspect that the edits made through my phone’s Docs app are the ones that do not update properly, given all of the other issues with the app.
I’ve been biting my tongue about the app bugs because Google provides such an amazing suite of apps and features free of charge, so I should be happy with what I get. But I know you can do better than this, Google, so fix it already!
It’s a great app
Mechanics are mediocre. 4/5
If you want google docs mobile just look it up on google and you’ll be able to use is better.
HAPPY FOR DARK MODE-... but can’t read now 4/5
Been using this since release! Love it for storing all my writings it’s my fave cloud writing space. After so many years I’m screaming over seeing dark mode!!
But the background color is pure black. This makes the contrast so high it’s actually painful on my eyes. If the background opacity dropped just a little bit it be so much nicer- esp those with vision issues
Accessibility with IOS VoiceOver 4/5
By BP Angela
Dear very smart Google Developers,
I am blind and I use this app every day to run my business. I love it except when I backspace to make a correction the app announces “selection deleted” instead of reading back the character deleted in a higher pitched voice like almost every other app I have ever used. It’s frustrating because I have to count the characters deleted to fix a word.
Second, I’d love to be able to turn off grammar spelling function that says “spelling suggestion” or “grammar suggestion” and then doesn’t allow me to hear the actual word, letter-by-letter. Other apps use an announcement like “misspelled” and then the user can go back and edit until a suggestion pops up on the screen. In fact, I just tested it with this form and this form is set up properly for these VoiceOver suggestions.
If you could fix these two things by the next release, I and many other loyal, visually impaired Google users would be eternally grateful.
Couldn’t do the one thing it was designed for. 1/5
I downloaded it specifically to find and replace a single term in a word doc in my google drive that I was being kept from editing in the Word app. It wouldn’t even open the document, just gave me a blank screen every time. I’ll just get off my butt and do my editing in Word on pc. I could write an entirely new novel in the time it would probably take to load one document on this app. 😩
No security of documents. 4/5
By Sayeed Khaldun
Please add fingerprint or passcode feature in both app and doc level so that secrecy of documents can be maintained. Otherwise seems OK to me.
Very Easy and Convenient! 5/5
I use Google Docs for everything from schoolwork to personal use. The ability to access it anytime and anywhere is very useful. I can easily switch from writing on a document from my phone to a computer. Auto saving also makes everything a breeze! The app is also pretty versatile, able to be used for a lot. It’s the best document app I’ve ever come across!
Dark mode? 4/5
By FTM hcgjbfgb
Wish there was a dark mode for the iPhone app.
Ok so I’m using this on my iPhone 11 and I want to print a image from my phone on to the good docs but the thing is I select the image but it does not paste it take multiple try until it’s paste
The app is good it just has that bug with the image
Convenient and intuitive document program 5/5
This app works well. Things can be saved and printed right from my gmail and new documents can created with minimal effort. It’s got great utility for anyone wants quick and easy documents.
App closes out by itself 1/5
Every time I try to scroll down in my document, the app closes out. Very frustrating.
Cloud based Documents 5/5
Google Docs is perfect for going between devices. Everything is conveniently just where I left it and it adapts to different display sizes seamlessly!

Nice how it tells me the word count. Makes it easier for school work
5 stars for Dark Mode 5/5
It’s to the point where I don’t use apps unless they provide a dark mode (unless I have no choice).
Good app 5/5
This app is great but 3/5
This app is great to use for assignments but I’ll, be in the middle of doing my assignment and it will crash. When it crashes it loses some material
Next best 5/5
Next best thing from excel, I love it because it attached to everything and google is the best system to me 🤷🏾♀️
Changes to Google Doc 1/5
I don’t like that the button is gone for sharing google docs. The button that used to say “add me”. I have to type my whole email address as a recipient and my email doesn’t automatically populate as a sender. I literally have to type my long email address every single time.
Docs is my Go To 5/5

Multi-purpose, multi-faceted. Easy to share. Easy to edit. Easy to archive.
Love this app! 5/5
By Dolphin Lover 231
Overall, great app. I love to write so I’ve been using this app for years and it’s great. It doesn’t crash often, lets you work offline, it’s easy to use and share, and the best part is it doesn’t spam you with any adds. As a student, it is a bit annoying and glitchy when I have copies of documents with photos (it makes writing where I want a pain), but whatever. My main complaint is that there’s not more options. I have ~20 fonts, a decent but not great variety of colors, and it just doesn’t feel very customizable. I understand that it’s a writing app, but sometimes I do really wish I had more options (especially with fonts, on my iPad at least). I would recommend this app to everyone, just maybe get a font extension if it bothers you tons.
Great App, but just one problem 4/5
I use Google Docs for every document I make. However, when I have a longer document and am editing it for example, I will click away from the app or turn off my phone, then come back to the docs screen with all the titles of my documents instead of the one I was working on. Again, this is probably just a personal problem, if you’re looking for a document app, Google Docs is the way to go.
Docs my experience 4/5
The app is easy to access and the share ability is fluid very fast ! My only reservation is, the limited capacity of PDF convert ability . Always room to improve!!!
Could be better 4/5
By minecraft-good fortnite-bad
I wish Doc has Excel options, and it could be better if I could edit the title of my documents.
Part of daily productivity for creators 5/5
I use this on my laptop’s web version and mobile app on the go. Productivity anywhere. I can always log my notes, make edits, share and publish from my app. I integrated Grammarly—doubled the user experience and value

I use google docs for school and it’s awesome great app
Absolute trash 5/5
The best app I have ever used
This app is terrible. Especially on mobile devices. I have an $800 brand new iPhone and I know it’s not my device. The app crashes every time I get anywhere close to finally making progress, I can’t see what I’m editing because the page keeps jumping all over the place and overall it is just the worst time consuming app I’ve dealt with. Don’t waste your time.

I love docs! It’s amazing!
More colors. 3/5
By raven reves
Just like on the laptop version, you should have a color wheel or an option where you get to make / create the color you want like you can on the laptop. Because I’m tired of seeing the same colors on the mobile version.
Google docs is my 2nd used app, however 4/5
It intends to lag at time or freeze. This is the mobile version not the computer one though. Maybe an update can help.
Make microphone available on mobile 1/5
It would be so much more helpful if you’re on the go, if your computer crashes, or if the microphone on your device is just better than the computer you have. I think this is the most essential thing if this app is gonna be on mobile.
Outstanding but 4/5
By Felix The Merc
The fact that there is no dark mode really bugs me. Other than that it’s perfect in my opinion.
It’s really good!!!! 5/5
I’ve been using this appp for years now and it’s never failed me once. This review isn’t so much focusing on flaws but more son on suggestions to make it even better. With the new update for iPadOS we now have the ability to write with the Apple Pencil and it will automatically convert to text. Well I tried it on Google docs but it didn’t seem to work so I suggest that maybe in the future you will be able to support it. Thanks!
Works amazing 5/5
I have to use it on the go, it performs flawlessly.
