Doesn’t Work with the App 2/5

My Hatch randomly stops working with the app, therefore the alarms that I set do not go off. I can’t even turn the light in from the app. This has happened multiple times - this time, I can’t find a solution.

The hatch restore has been terrible!! The app design is also cheap and difficult to navigate. Do not waste your money or time. I was excited to use it, paid for subscription service and just never worked. It is insanely difficult to connect if you have to switch WiFi source. So you can not travel with it. After changing the WiFi once it never worked again and could never connect to my home WiFi again. This company clearly dumps everything into marketing and nothing into the product.
The clock feels light and cheaply made. The app is sloppy and difficult to manage. And you will waste hours of your life trying to get it connected. I don’t even think I would want another one if it was free, you can tell it is a piece of junk. I’d love for someone from Hatch to reach out and try to make this right but I highly doubt they will.

The original app that came with the hatch rest+ was very user friendly. The newer version I’m forced to use for my younger baby’s hatch is awful. If I hadn’t thrown out the box, I’d return it just so I don’t have to use this app.

I recently got a new Wi-Fi Router, I had to switch all my devices over so when I tried my hatch, it wouldn’t connect. I tried everything, literally everything. All the trouble shooting, changing my Wi-Fi settings, password. So of course I tried to delete the app, nope. So I tried to delete my account, still nope but it’s weird bc it says it’s connected to the Wi-Fi on my Wi-Fi app but I can’t use the app. After a while it will connect to the time but I still can’t use the app. Apparently, if you delete the app & redownload it, that causes problems which is ridiculous bc sometimes you have to delete an app & redownload it. Also if you delete your account it might do the same reason. They don’t want anyone reselling them which is kinda strange so now I have a 100+ dollar clock that doesn’t do anything but show me the time.

First gen screens were great and user friendly. New screens for the second gen are deplorable. Wish they would go back to the first gen interface, because this is bad enough to make us sell the product and never buy one again.

It’s expensive garbage. I had to update my wifi to 5Ghz and it no longer works. They were just like oh well too bad even though I haven’t had it for a year. Then they said to connect to wifi using my phone hotspot but it cuts out about one minute into setup. Do not buy this piece of trash.

The produce is effective for training children. However the device has quirks that are annoying. The volume is too loud and resets itself at the too loud level every time it starts to play. There seems to be no solution. I also think having a subscription cost on top of the costly device is over the top but you can use the device without the extra subscription features.

Disappointed that your product is like $70 and you expect us to pay for a monthly subscription to access more than half of your features that you say are available on the box. Would not have bought this if I knew that was the case. It’s so overpriced for what is offered. I wouldn’t mind as much to pay a one time fee or if it had the capability to download your own sounds into the app. Makes me feel taken advantage of. Super bummed because I was so excited to get it.

This app is easy to use and gives me full control on the hatch rest+.
If the developers could make a widget or shortcut to alter the clock brightness from the Home Screen, that would be great. I have to fumble through three steps every morning and night to adjust.

I’ve had my Hatch for about a month now. I requested it as a present for my birthday because I was looking for a better sleep routine. Prior to this I was using the one that comes with the iPhone.
Overall I really enjoy the idea of this alarm clock and so far it serves its main purpose which was to have an all in one alarm that plays white noise while you sleep.
My biggest complaint currently is that you can only set the wake up alarm time. In order to create a better schedule for myself I’d really like to create times for my unwind schedule to start the nightly routine. To me, this should be an obvious added feature. Right now, I have to open the app and select the unwind schedule for it to begin. I often forget to do this even though every night I’m in bed roughly at the same time. Having this scheduled to auto start the routine would be a great way to mitigate distractions at night and keep me off my phone.
My only other real complaint is that you only have so many sounds to select from when setting your routines. There’s a library of sounds that seems to have more options to choose from but I haven’t spent enough time figuring out how to get those sounds added to the routine settings. They definitely don’t make it obvious in the setup. My recommendation would be the add a link to additional sounds from the sound selection when setting up/editing your routines. It would also be nice to have a quick tutorial on how to add new sounds in the general set up process.
Other than that, a lot of the features are customizable which is great. I love that I can pick the different color schemes and adjust rgw brightness & volume. It’s also a great size and fits well on my small night stand.

We have used this multiple times a day for over a year, really love it. Please make an Apple Watch app so I can surreptitiously change my toddlers light without her knowing. Just the preset favorites would be ideal!

I’ve tried setting up my Hatch Restore 6 or so times and it wouldn’t connect. I finally get it to connect to WiFi and it disconnects before I can get through setup. I’ve spent well over an hour trying to get through what should be a simple process. Can’t attest to how it works unfortunately.

Here are two things that would make this app very useful:
- track the time duration that white noise has been running, so that parents can use it to track their kids’ sleep.
-add a Siri shortcut to turn on a particular white noise, so you don’t have to go into the app

Have two hatches and have issues with seeing them in my hatch sleep app which is really convenient when you’ve just gotten home with your new baby from the hospital considering it was working just fine when leaving for said hospital as it had all set up so that there would be no issues… very upset will never buy another hatch product.

Overall great, & does what it’s supposed to do! It’s a great help! I’ve used it for about a week now & it has disconnected & shut off once. Other than that it has been great! Don’t really like that there’s a separate subscription with it for it to work. I also think it shouldn’t rely on Wi-Fi connection. Bluetooth would’ve been a better connection option.

I was very excited to get my hatch restore so that I could get on a better sleep routine. There are several positives to this device, such as waking up to the “sunrise” light, but at the end of the day I’m left underwhelmed. The app is clumsy and I absolutely despise the fact that I feel forced into a subscription to actually use this thing properly. The unwind feature is essentially nonexistent unless you spend more money, and the modes that are available for free such as the sleep sounds are a stingy selection.

The gradual light setting has been a helpful feature for my daughter who was finding a traditional alarm clock jarring on school days. The gradual light is gentle and helpful - she wishes there could also be the option for alarm sounds to be gradual too. She chose ocean sounds for her alarm and was excited at first, but on a quiet setting she doesn’t always hear them enough to wake up, and on a louder setting she said she’s grown to dread it as much as a traditional alarm sound as it’s still jarring to be awakened so suddenly.

I’m a subscriber and have a Hatch for the little one and a restore. The sounds you get with the subscription is great, but there are limits to what features you can use them for. Some you can program to wind down, others are for are for the infinite sleep sound, others you have to play from the library tab. For example one of the rain sounds we particularly like, but we can’t set it to be our sleep sound. We have to choose another rain noise we don’t like as much. It’s all quite disorienting and oddly limiting.
The Hatch does the same. There is a great feature to program lights and sounds to come on at a certain time each day. But you are limited to the free sounds. We can’t program music from the subscription service we pay for. We have to manually play those sounds.
4 stars because there is a lot to like. But please remove these odd restrictions.

I feel like it could be way more robust. The colors on the machine don’t really match the UI. If you had the volume up last use, it automatically starts with the volume up still. I’d like to be able to choose my volume before hitting play. I’ve startled my baby awake
Also, the names of the Dreamscapes are so niche and proprietary that no one could possibly know what’s really about to play until they hear it

Disappointed. I really loved this app and my Hatch Restore but it has not been working for me at all the last week. Especially disappointing since I paid for the membership and I can’t even access the sounds on my phone.

App has gone to hot garbage since the last update. Barely connects farther than 10 ft away. Long loading times between tasks. Really took a step down.
Impossible to change programmed settings. When you go to edit it either kicks you back to the main screen or an endless “saving” prompt that needs the app closed out to retry,

In a previous life, I had the Gen 1 Rest and the lullabies were my toddler's favorite thing to fall asleep to. I tried buying the Gen 2 Rest so I could at least give *this* back to him, but after digging through the menus and reaching out to support I discovered that the lullabies now require a subscription.
Needless to say, this is going back to the store and I am never buying any Hatch products again.

The Hatch is great! But the user interface in my opinion is horrible. It’s complicated to just turn the light on or turn the sounds on. Please make the simple things easy to use (ie, if i want to turn the light on/off, if I want to turn the sound on/off)

I absolutely love the light itself. Not only is it visually pleasing but the functionality is awesome and it has really transformed my early mornings! This rating is for the app. The load time is unbearable to make any changes to the alarms and oftentimes after waiting for a change to be saved you get an error and have to start all over again, multiple times.

Overall I think the Hatch Rest 2nd gen itself performs exactly as promised, as does the app. There are just a couple little things for me that prevent it from having 5 stars, especially given the price.
1st, the ‘time for bed’ light settings have a bunch of options that cycle through multiple colors, but no option for just a single constant color. This causes lots of conversations and distractions in house house some nights making making bedtime harder.
2nd, this is clearly a speaker capable of playing some music and spoken word (since they offer a subscription service with story telling and other features). So why not just let the whole thing be a Bluetooth type speaker completely independent of the app? I understand other Hatch products can do so, and again it would be a nice feature give. The price point.

The flute alarm is my all time favorite! I love it so much I enjoy letting it play all the way through.. and my daughter does too. That, combined with the bright red light that slowly warms the room like the rising sun… It makes waking up in the morning so much easier and a really pleasant way to start the day.

I have been a long time Hatch user, and have always LOVED my restore. I recently had to get a replacement due to the time display burning out. I was told there is a new model, and an updated app. I was so excited for more options and looked forward to receiving my new device. Unfortunately it has been a HUGE disappointment. Not only is the sound quality very poor compared to the old one, the options are extremely limited. On the old app there were tons of meditations, yoga, stretching, gratitude for the morning, etc. and now it’s not an option. Also, there are only a few male voices now, most are female, again limited options, and the few that are available now sound robotic and unnatural. I can’t believe Hatch would think this was an upgrade. Please fix this and bring back the options offered before.

I love my hatch. It feels like it’s on all day long! However the app is frustrating.
Every. Single. Time. I need to open the app, it takes 5 seconds to load. Ok I know, 5 seconds??? First world probs??? Well with a crying baby, it seems like forever. Why does it need to reconnect every single time? Even if you leave the app for one second?
Also, it would be great if the switches were larger. I try to pull them and with fail sometimes bc they’re so small. There’s plenty of room on that page so it seems very doable.
I’m frustrated with the amount of times it can’t find the device. Like when I finally get my baby to sleep and I want to turn the light feature off but the app randomly can’t find it…? So I have to manually do this and it wakes my baby!!!
I gave 3 stars bc this is our most used baby item and couldn’t live without it. But it could be better!

I love the concept. The times my device worked, I loved it. But my device doesn’t work more than 1/2 the time. This started within weeks ofreceiving it. I’ve contacted the company 3 times to receive a replacement or to make a return and I cannot get a response. I’m ready to contact my credit card company to lodge a dispute.
