Headspace: Mindful Meditation app reviews

  • Very helpful to me 5/5

    By TaylorPlayer
Update I was away for a while using another service but I missed Headspace and I’ve come back. I appreciate all the things they offer. Very well done. I love Headspace. The daily practice of meditation has made me more calm and better able to deal with whatever comes along. There is so much good content and something new every day. It is presented in a Iight hearted way that really works for me. I highly recommend the service and the app. It is making a big difference in my life.
  • Not free 1/5

The only way to do anything on this app is if you pay for the premium. Not free at all.
  • All Professional, Kind, Restorative! This HeadSpace App works!!! 5/5

    By ProlifeNYC.com👶🍎 #Prolifenyc
Just got home from 5 days of great live saving Hospital care, where my pain went to near Zero, then coming home and relaxing, in a beautiful, loving environment, Headspace helped me find the now, focus and good quiet breathing, enjoying the smells and slight sounds of my beautiful home rooms, and now I am less stressed, happier, and am achieving overall well being! Looking forward to enjoying more of HeadSpaces mediation videos. Rainbow one pretty, and self reflection ones divine! Thank you!!!! NYC Recovering and Earth, Health, Peace and Nature lover.
  • All Mediations the Same 3/5

    By WandererForever8
Headspace is fine and it definitely has some interesting videos with insights from experts, but all of their mediations are the same. They have the same structures and the same repeated phrases even (having been through three different courses all having the same meditations, I can recite it by memory now: tune into your body, listen to the sounds around you, now tune back into your body, do a body scan, focus on your breath, now count your breaths, just for a second let your mind go where it wants to, now come back to your body and the space). It’s a little frustrating to be honest. If I’m doing a series on sleep then I’d like to have a mediation fitted to that rather than a one size fits all mentality (which really REALLY doesn’t work for mediation, at least not with me). Like I said, I appreciate some of the other things it has to offer, but since it is a mediation app and the mediations are all the same AND YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR IT? Not worth it. Hope this helps someone.
  • Frustrating experience finding courses 1/5

    By Jasennian
The content of the app, the meditations, are absolutely fantastic. However the app itself needs some serious revisions. This is a review of the app and not the app’s content. It’s incredibly frustrating to navigate around. My absolute favorite feature and what put headspace on the map for me in the first place is courses. Courses are meditations for usually 10 days in a row that focus on the same topic. When I was first using headspace around 10 years ago, courses were the foundation of the headspace experience and are the core of what made it unique and enjoyable compared to other meditation apps. The developers have decided to all but hide these courses, burying them under a mountain of other content I’m not interested in. The main page is a todo list of various meditations throughout the day with the vast majority being one-offs. I understand that choosing to focus on one-offs means that they are chasing the more casual user and that’s fine. But for the daily user it’s frustrating that it’s so difficult to access my favorite part of the headspace experience. Even if the front page of the app is hand curated, I could be at a very different point in my life or emotions than other users and need a different set of tools than the standard ones being presented. For an app whose goal is to increase mindfulness there is a lot of distraction and frustration. Ultimately all I want is for the meditations to be better categorized so it’s easier to find the specific content a user could want instead of having to spend time searching through content that is organized haphazardly and unhelpfully.
  • Andy literally saved my life! 5/5

    By ricksaurio
This app is such a wonderful thing in my life. During the most difficult time (divorce, cancer, surgeries, hardship, etc). Andy’s guided meditations made it so much easier to pull through the many challenges thrown my way. Discovering this app is one of the best things that has ever happened to me.. Note: It only works after being very consistent and sticking to it . Do not expect magic, rather, gradual very tangible positive change.
  • I hate this app 1/5

    By i hate you0877666
I hate this app What if you don’t want to have to pay for a subscription
  • Nice but I prefer Calm and Synctuition 4/5

    By Jv1481
Idk why. Maybe they’re just more my style.
  • Money 1/5

    By Money really?
I feel like my mental health is low and when I go to this app I have to pay for helping my mental health. So if you want to get this app I recommend not to if you do not like spending money.
  • Great tool Lots of options 5/5

    By JanMys
Been using daily since 2017. Excellent options to help you focus on wellbeing and letting go of the often barrage of thoughts…with focus on your breathe. Just 3 or 5 or 10 minutes each morning to start the day. And when I can’t sleep or wake up in middle of night there are exercises or soothing music to listen to that help me go back to sleep. Highly recommend!
  • Amazing 4/5

    By Oddball Audrey
I absolutely love how inclusive this app is. I love the meditations and I love that I have so many wonderful meditations to explore. However, I wish there were a way to reverse it for those who work night shift. Like, a meditation to get ready for the day when the sun sets would be amazing.
  • No longer great 2/5

    By Lawyer-Mommy
Headspace was once a great app. Now the content is mostly social justice based and propaganda. Most of us turn to meditation for calm, peace and mindfulness. We desire a break from the endless media messaging we experience 24/7. The true masters and teachers of meditation do not offend, they simply offer a neutral, warm and inviting space to practice mindfulness. My request is to return to simplicity, step away from the desperate need to be “relevant” - it is not a good look.
  • Relationships 5/5

    By Tennessee Jedd
    Never disappointed. Always impressed!
  • Sleepcasts Not Working 1/5

    By treymaki808
App prompts me to update right before I go to bed. Updated and now the entire sleep function doesn’t work. Opposite of stress relief and a ridiculous bug to have considering I’ve been paying $13 (?!?!) a month. App doesn’t need to be fancy, just needs to work, or you’re going to keep losing subscribers like you lost me
  • Worth every penny, would subscribe to lifetime membership 5/5

    By Rachel Epithet
Headspace literally changed my life and I am, no joke, actually crying while writing this… though I also ate a yummy dinner of 🍄🍋 lol… but all that ✨ aside, doesn’t change the fact that Headspace has made me a better person since I first joined in 2018. I have been a paying member since 2019, starting with monthly but quickly opting for an annual membership. When 2020 rolled around and Covid-19 struck, Headspace put out a ton of content specific to the struggles related to the pandemic, they granted free access to more paid content, and they even offered a complimentary annual pass for those experiencing financial hardship due to the pandemic. IMO that says a lot about a company. In that time, I have completed 2453 sessions of an average length of 37 minutes. I had a 600+ day streak that was only broken because I was on my sick bed with Covid and completely out of it for 24+ hours. I currently have a 257 day streak. I have meditated with the app for a total of 91,614 minutes. That’s 1526.9 hours, 63.62 mfing days, or 0.1743 YEARS. And that number only tracks meditation minutes, it doesn’t take into account the countless hours of other outstanding content (like their exercise videos, podcasts, some music playlists, sleepcasts [one of my favs, think grown-up bedtime stories, but incredibly descriptive to the point of being almost immersive at times], etc.). Thanks to the good habits Headspace has helped me develop — like a daily meditation practice, combined with greater mindfulness during day-today moments, and break many bad ones — like alcoholism and prescription drug addiction, disordered eating, intrusive thoughts of suicide. I am a better, happier person. I am a better parent and spouse and all-around general human. I would subscribe to a lifetime membership if they had one. This app is worth every penny. If you’ve made it this far in my review, I know you are making a decent effort to find a good app to help you on some aspect of your life as well. Let me save you some time: Your search ends here. Download it now. Start today, just 10 minutes. Make a commitment to show up on a schedule that works for you. Take advantage of the free trial membership and put it to good use. You’ll thank me later. Mush love, friend! ❤️🌈🍄✨☮️

Really been so hesitant to start, but my work gives me a subscription. My life will forever be changed. Best app I’ve ever used. For mindfulness and so user friendly and wonderful!
  • Calming in a busy world 4/5

    By Star Valley Shauna
Mind space has helped me refocus my purpose for my family sake and peace of mind. It helps me calm my thoughts so I can focus on what really matters.
  • Must Pay for Everything 1/5

    By ThePGHBunny
I first got this app a few years ago and loved it. The breathing exercises and guided meditations were really helpful for falling asleep. Now, there is literally nothing you can access without paying for the subscription. So disappointed that this company took something that provided real help and made it inaccessible without a hefty subscription fee. They might as well just charge to purchase the app since there’s nothing you can access for free anyway.
  • Andy’s Calming Voice 5/5

    By KamiCTRS
Andy’s voice on HeadSpace is very calming. So calming that it takes me to a deep place in of quiet & peace. I’ve repeated the anxiety lessons several times; there are so many little important tidbits of info along the way.

  • It’s just ok 3/5

It’s just ok but not worth the price.
  • Different uses and resources 5/5

    By justjs315
I don’t utilize the entire app but it is a great tool to navigate and the use of “on demand” features and needs are great. It is here when I need it and at different times on my life I need different tools. Great resources for learning and growing.
  • 🤷🏽‍♀️ 1/5

Not free so how df am I gonna use it
  • More guidance needed, as well as help in retaining the recommendations shared 3/5

    By cgrising
I felt at a loss after completing the Basics course. There are so many options and no guidance in selecting a path to gradually learn more about meditation. Additionally, as I’m left jumping haphazardly from one course to the next, it would be really great to have an in-app (but exportable) journal of the insights and lessons imparted during the course. Perhaps I have a worse memory than most, but I’m sure everyone would benefit from having a clear idea of the specific techniques to try beyond the app. Or perhaps the goal is to keep us tethered to Headspace forever?
  • Life changing 5/5

    By Yv la chique
I simply can’t recommend this app enough, it has helped me so much with my anxiety and for finding relaxation and setting daily intentions
  • Pretty great, almost perfect. 4/5

    By kalealealealea
I have been doing daily meditation in my morning routine now for a couple of weeks. They have amazing lessons that change everyday! I think to make it even more awesome, they could introduce a guided journal prompt or something everyday that goes with that days meditation? I usually write about the meditation but it would be amazing to have a pointed question that allows for some thought provoking answers. But other than that, I recommend! Love love
  • Can’t imagine a day without Headspace 5/5

    By pgauche
I’ve been a “Headspacer” since 2014. I’ve noticed that this practice creates more margin in my day, more calm in my relationships, and more peace in each day. So grateful for headspace in my life.

Way to much politics on this platform for mediation, classes are too short, and for beginners
  • Worth the annual fee 5/5

    By Hildegard 54
Headspace is my go to morning routine. I love how much content there is in this app for meditation, relaxation, sleep. The wake up changes everyday and I enjoy learning from the different experts. Headspace has made making meditation part of my daily life easy. Highly recommend for the whole family.
  • So much inclusion that it’s become exclusive 3/5

    By TeaBani
There’s too many sections for very niche/specific groups/communities. I’ve had Headspace for 3 years. It used to be meditations for all—limited specificity in the practices. Anyone could do any of the meditations and they were generally applicable or instructive to most. It felt like a gift to all people, no matter their identity or beliefs. Over the past few years, it’s become more focused on politically correct inclusion, which really just means more exclusive. The meditation sections are now less about mental health for all, and focused instead on mental health for the Black community and racial injustice, LGBTQIA+ and gender fluid issues, Women and Herstory, etc. It’s… exhausting. And I fall into these categories. Yet I’m exhausted from having to choose which section most represents me that day. I just want meditations. Simple. Honest. Mental health for all. Not categorized and box checking pandering to the people. Because that’s what it is. Pandering. I’ve switched to Calm. It has represented the issues that Headspace awkwardly tries to dabble in. And I feel like it’s more welcoming to all. Plus, the Calm meditations are more specific and instructive which I really enjoy. Calm is the same price—but it’s honestly worth much more.

  • Locked 1/5

    By hELlooOooOOoOoOoll
I can’t even tell if it’s a good app I don’t want to spend tons of money on this if I can’t even do 1 exercise for me to see if k should spend money. On top of all the stress I have it’s even more stressful to get notifications from this to work on stuff if I can’t even do anything I wouldn’t recommend if your not willing to spend the money
  • Just to much payments 1/5

I got this app because of stress and THERE WERE NOTHING I COULD FIND THAT WAS FREE😡I had to pay for a teacher like that’s just horrible I don’t like this app and I’m not doing a free trial because they let you have it free and then they make you pay after it it’s horrible.

  • Smart Idea, But Not Worth It!! 2/5

    By evelyn_baker
When I first downloaded the app, I had to sign up and submit my email in order to even start using the app. Then, there was a simple breathing exercise they had you do right off the bat, followed by a question of how the the breathing exercise made you feel and what you wanted to focus on in improving your “headspace”. After answering those questions, a main page popped up which I would assume is like the home page of an app and it shows you different course like objectives for you to complete in the morning, afternoon, and evening. There were even specialized courses for getting better sleep and for focusing on certain things specifically such as anxiety, stress, worries, and depression. Unfortunately, I rated it so low because you had to pay for all of it!! I immediately deleted the app before doing the one week free trial. All I wanted to do was focus on my mental health and I was really excited because the app seemed to be really cool. Of course, I got my hopes up and was deceived yet again with the high cost of the payment plan.

  • Moment of calm 5/5

    By jovianrich
What would I do had I not discovered meditation. The everyday activity of sitting with your breath, calm and peacefully letting go of thoughts is so liberating. Just be. Just sit. Just breath. Into my 4th year now. Priceless. Life changing. Transforming.

  • Anxious student 5/5

    By Tri-all
I bought this app on a whim and it’s worth the investment. It helps me take 5-10 min out of my day to reframe and refocus as someone who is always busy. I really like the courses. Those keep me on track and they have multiple teachers which is nice.
