Love Hertz, don’t love the app. 3/5

Every time I open the app I have to input my member number and password even though I have the “Remember Me” selected. I don’t have my Hertz member number memorized so when I’m in a hurry to check rates or book, instead of searching my emails for my member # or if I’m away from my laptop which has it saved, I just go look and/or book elsewhere like on United, which gives 2000 miles per Hertz booking booked on their website. Also, the app sometimes has an error asking for my birthday but nowhere to input it or the screen won’t load. Like I said, I love Hertz but I don’t love the app. Lastly, booking a vehicle at the time the location closes shouldn’t be an option. I booked a car in Puerto Rico at a time I could make after landing, without knowing the hours or the location. When I got to the location, prior to closing time, the attendant was gone. Had to manage without for the evening and come back the next day. Closing time probably shouldn’t be an available pick up time unless they have the Hop in and go system like some locations.

The missing star is for the language. It takes the local one. I am here in the Netherlands and can’t browse in English. Had to guess a lot.

When you go in to modify your reservation (I.e. add flight information), you literally have to go through each reservation step. Is a rate going to change? There needs to be an easier method of just making minor edits vs going through the whole process again.

I don’t know what’s going on lately, but I reserve at least one car a week and can’t get a reservation booked. I have tried 4 times to reserve a car through the app and can’t get past the last step.
I have put up with the old feel of the site because it was functional, but if I can’t make a reservation I may have to go somewhere else. I’m wasting so much time trying to book a car. I’m a President’s Circle member so I sure hope it can be fixed. I love the service and vehicles otherwise.
I have to login about every other week it seems; certainly not a seamless app

As a gold member, you can log in and book a car with no problem unless you need to switch credit cards. It has no ability to toggle between cards on file. So if you have a business credit card on file but are trying to book a car using a personal credit card (even if that card is also on file!) you cannot do it. In that case, the mobile app is useless and the only way around it is to call and make the reservation using an agent. C’mon Hertz, this is pretty elementary and adding this feature cannot take that much in the way of programming since you are accessing our records anyway.

I like the speed of process and accuracy of Hertz. Its people are very good. In last summer I rented twice from Hertz. Every thing was perfect. Tomorrow I will rent another car In Dubai and I expected to be on the same service level or better.

Every time I try to use the app I get a pink error message that will say something like: Age not selected. What??? There’s not even a place to select an age, and I’m logged in, so the app should already have that info. So annoying.
Like hertz in other ways. Worst app I have ever used. Often impossible. Seriously invest in an upgrade. Can I add that I am trying to submit this review and I CANT because I have tried 10 nicknames that are taken! Great example of how who ever programmed this thing has no idea how to take care of customers. Stupid waste of time.

It is a bit glitchy. Plus, it is cumbersome when using scroll in choosing airlines partners (one has to scroll forever) - scroll needs to allow one to type as well.
Additionally, app make you fill in other info other car rental companies make optional, such as flight number and airline. Do I really have my flight number memorized or available - just more cumbersome
You are the biggest rental car company in the World, you can do better. Go look at Southwest Airlines

It anted me to update my credit card but it was terrible, Five iterations to try and figure out that it needed a different credit card and the different expiration date and needed a different code
But I still could not update it.
Went from app to website and had same problem.
Finally booked as guest rather than gold.

I actually love the app! BUT! (1) Since I rent often and occasionally have a question regarding a past rental, I just have to get my computer out and look for my rental confirmations. (2) During a rental I sometimes need to ck return times and I again have to go find my confirmation info in my email. American Airlines utilizes a sort of count down process for both departure and return flights. That would be SUPER user friendly as a page to ck on the app.

I rent from Hertz several times a year for domestic travel, and I have Gold Status. I’ve been able to successfully use the app without issues. I particularly like the fact that Hertz gives you the total price to expect, not just the base rental price.

Same as a review posted last year. I am in Thailand, and the app loaded in Thai. I guessed my way through the reservation as I cannot read the Thai language and its unique characters, and I hope I did it correctly. I work with several apps that give you the option to switch to English, but Hertz does not offer this option. I hope I will have a car upon arriving at my destination.
No horizontal 2/5
The app does not rotate from vertical to horizontal view on my ipad. (Most apps I have do rotate.). Since I have my ipad attached to a keyboard case, I only use the ipad in horizontal view. So I can only see the Hertz app sideways. Thus i will be deleting the app.
The app has great features but is just really slow and a pain to deal with if its having a bad day

This app is pathetic and painful. I expect better look at your competition. Hire a kid from high school they could design and code this thing better. Besides how buggy it is please add apple wallet functionality like your competitors.

I will never ever ever provide a favorable review of any Hertz efforts until you stop charging your $1.49 Energy fee. This is nothing more than a profit grab. Disgusting. I know of no other company that still has this policy. Hertz is not trustworthy.
