This has been a terrible experience and deserves no stars. I am an avid reader who wants to enjoy this app but my credit card was wrongfully charged $49.99 with NO subscriptions. Because this app has NO direct customer line for any adequate support, I emailed the receipt along and explained everything nicely. The way they didn’t even care to look into it proved that the business model is built on scamming money. PLEASE BE CAREFUL FOR NOT DISCLOSING your credit card number to this app if they ask you to.

I purchased 1 year subscription, now I need to cancel the subscription. I go to apple subscription management, there is no cancellation option for customer. I scroll all the way down, the is only monthly and year charge. Please, you can’t do this!

Not all the content in the original Chinese version app is synced to this international version app. I wrote an email to support but received no response. Existing content is good and I enjoy listening to Himalaya everyday. Just hope you can update and add new books more frequently.

Himalaya used to be the best podcast platform by far, but it seems they’ve sold out to some Chinese company and are now nothing more than a cheap scam. Podcasts are no longer updated and the app tries to push a premium subscription to their “curated shows”, which is all poorly disguised ultra communist propaganda. Truly a shame what’s happened to this company.

我不知道是不是我没有领悟用法。当我下载一个声音集后，这个app有时不会自动把声音按照顺序添加播放列表。或者说当我第一遍听的时候是按顺序的，但是我听过的集数会从播放列表里消失，所以当我重复听时会非常困难。而且我下载一个频道后没有办法通过下载的内容直接进入频道，也不能寻找同一个cv的其它作品。用起来很不方便。如果是我没有没有找到正确使用方法的话，那就是帮助手册太难用了。

If you used this app for podcast as tons of people had previously done, just delete it now. Apparently they no longer have podcasts available, they will no longer be updating any podcast episodes and won’t be supporting podcasts any longer. They will be focusing completely on audio books and stories/courses as their sudden, new name suggests. Will be deleting the app after years of using it as my exclusive podcast listening platform. Sad to see it go as the UI was great and the playlists option was wonderful, but I won’t be using it for anything now and it would just take up space, so it’ll be deleted.

This was a great app, but the developers got greedy. They removed functionality without any warning. It stopped remembering where you closed it so it could always advertise paid content. That was bad. But now, it won’t show or let you download new episodes of any podcast (including free ones) unless you pay! Shame on them. The number of bugs is also going up, so expect their ratings to tank. I’m never using this app again!

I subscribed to Himalaya on 1/1/2022 with a yearly membership plan. After a couple of months being busy, I tried to listen to it again. however my app shows my membership has expired. When I contacted customer support, there was little help and communication stopped after one reply email. The support person said my account was still active, but in my account it actually shows that my vip status has expired. There was no useful place for me to re-enter all my info again, I’m very dissatisfied!!!

I like this app and they have a good selection of the podcast that I enjoy. However it is beyond annoying that they constantly and expressly are pumping liberal podcasts for me. Trying to get me to listen to Michelle Obama, Bill Gates, Anderson Cooper, NPR, and on and on and on. No end to this. It’s truly ridiculous.

用了半年，完全不知道怎麼看新書更新，讀過追到一半的書點其他書紀錄就沒了，點回舊書要從新慢慢滾下去找之前讀到的，加個查找章節功能很難嗎？滾下找很多時候Load不出來，就算找到了點開了有時候也不會順著章節往下播，因為根本Load不出來！

TLDR: subscribed but didn’t get ANY service
I paid for the subscription and get a subscription confirmation from Apple. However i still can’t access the material. The app still keeps asking me to subscribe. What should I subscribe if I already did so ??!! Never happened to any the apps and if I can’t get access to your material, what is the point of the subscription?

Ridiculous bug makes app unusable after a while 3/5

Overall the app is pretty good. The UI is easy to navigate and looks nice, the library is great, and the annual price is excellent. However, there is one enormous, horrendous, ridiculous bug that makes the app difficult to use and impossible to recommend to less tech savvy folks -- which is itself a terrible shame, because it's exactly older less techy people who tend to most enjoy audio books.
The bug is, the large, red Continue Listening button on each book page does not in fact allow you to continue to listen. I've tested this dozens of times with different situations and types of content and it always pops me to some earlier episode. Since each book is chopped into ten minute segments, that means each book has over a hundred episodes. And to make life even more aggravating, the app only loads about twenty episode titles at once.
So, if I'm halfway through a book and I accidentally hit that (highly visible and misleading) button, that means an extremely frustrating scroll+wait for load+scroll+wait for load+scroll+wait for load ad nauseam until I get to my current episode. I'm currently listening to a show that has over 1000 episodes. If I hit this bug past 300 eps or so, I guess I'll just have to give up listening.
Oh right, there is a second bug that exacerbates this problem:
About once every two weeks, my Recently Played list just disappears. Absolutely no idea why. The Continue Listening button on the Recently Played books does in fact work as you'd expect, which is a life saver. But since these entries disappear every now and then, this lifeline is temporary. Again, I have no idea what I'll do when I get well into that 1000+ chapter book.
P.S. I listen to several books at once and also have some for reference, so it's easy to forget all of what I'm listening to. This bug necessitates a manual list of books I'm currently listening to in a different place so I can get them back.
Honestly, this bug is so obvious and absurd. The newest update didn't fix it. Has no one reported it? I can't imagine that this bug has survived for as long as the app has been around. Was it recently introduced? The correctly operating Continue Listening function clearly already exists. Is it somehow difficult to link it to the correct button?
Please, please, please fix this problem with all haste! My month of free membership is ending and I'd love to hear some news to help me decide whether or not to subscribe. Thank you!
