Normally I go to a website or appnon my phone and when I click on credit card entry my phone provides list of credit cards. Same with address. Did not prepopilate any of these fields or even my name! Very annoying. Love HomeAway but app not very convenient
Was my first time using the app and got a fake reference number by an email not associated with home away and they took my payment and never answered. Home away rep was not very helpful. Was looking forward to our stay at the property but think I will be booking hotels from now on :/

Love the app - I only wish there was more flexibility on the views to maintain list views and have enough screen to view either the map feature or individual property. Plus certain actions viewing and liking an individual property take you back to the start of your list

From the first day I booked the trip I also downloaded this app that was sent with the confirmation email . Since then every message I’ve sent I get a automated message back saying they don’t go threw this app to call xxxxxx literally nothing but X without any numbers to call . Now our trip is in 2 days and the trip is listed as canceled! For months I’ve tried to contact someone, anyone without a reply. So help me God if something is wrong with this trip I’m going to flip out !

Give it up, it is hopeless. The lack of communication with the new system makes me want to not use VRBO again. Why can I not just email the owner? What does intervention in this process add to to it? To my mind, all it does is obfuscate. I am extremely frustrated with all the silly huge passwords and levels of rubbish.
You need to clean this up or you are going to lose customers.

This house is not worth $1000. The management team is rude. The cleaning was half done. Basic cable. Don’t try to bring your Netflix or Hulu account. They have Roku smart tvs and will not give you the pin number to Access your own accounts. There is no barbecue grill without extra and no jacuzzi. They tell you that you don’t need heat for the pool either even if you want to pay for it. They are rude people after they have taken your money. They tell you what temperature to set the thermostat and still control it themselves. Horrible customer service.

None of these apps are perfect, but HomeAway so far has been easy to use & they get back to you! Most folks are just looking for what they paid for & to be heard if there is an issue. Until this point HomeAway has done that. Had one booking we didn’t care for bit solely due to location and minor things that did not work for us, nothing major, for using this app as much as we do I’d say that’s ok. Everyone’s experience is different however. So far, so good.

The app keeps loosing my dates, # of people & pet info. I have saved the info as a trip, but each time I look at a property, the info is gone. Frustrating!

Thanks Dan and Sarah, your cabin was awesome. It was so peaceful. My husband has always talked about building a little cabin and after staying in yours I see why. Everything we needed was there which made it easy to pack. We hope to be back but next time we are bring my dog. He will love the creek. The beds were so soft and comfortable. If anyone complains of this place well they just need to stay in the noisy city because this place is a touch of Heaven. Thanks again Brenda and Bob
Trying to rent a listing that is not available to VRBO 1/5
VRBO should remove listings that are not available to them. Very frustrating trying to get an answer for two days. VRBO telling me that my credit cards were denied and the bank telling me that no charges were attempted. Not a happy customer!!

One annoying thing 4/5
I love this app. It would be nice if it filtered by location a bit more effectively. For example, annually we search for rooms on Maui. If I search for a condo in Lahaina I get results all over the island. It would be nice to be able get a more refined search. We’ve experienced the same issue while searching other cities as well; San Diego, Anaheim, Phoenix, Seaside, etc. That’s the only thing standing between HomeAway and a 5-star rating from us - a more effective filter. Maybe a checkbox for “Include results from nearby areas” would do the trick. Keep up the good work, we love the app.
Horrible app, horrible support, horrible hosts 1/5
review update ( after developer response, read original below): I tried what you are suggesting for 4 weeks. I was calling and texting with support, and I got maybe five “case numbers” and the issue got pushed to the “experts” maybe three times. Every single time the agents told me that I’m fully in the right because I’m canceling within the window. None of them did anything useful. They said the owner isn’t responding to them. They threatened the owner with blocking the account, but it seems that was ignored too.
Original review: I booked a place and tried to cancel within the cancelation window. The owner didn’t want to pay me back and HomeAway support was totally useless and evasive. Just use Airbnb. You can cancel yourself! Horrible! I’d give them 0 stars if I could

This home is a jewel. It is spacious, very clean, beautifully furnished and well maintained inside and out. The kitchen is well stocked with everything one will need to prepare snacks or a meal. We had a Women’s Retreat and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. There were 13 of us. We had plenty of sleeping space to sleep comfortably, as well as plenty of bathrooms. It is everything you would look for in a vacation rental. There are local stores nearby. It is easy to get downtown to San Antonio. This was our 4th Annual Retreat and this has been the best vacation rental we have stayed in thus far. Our goal is to visit a different state each year and I would not have any qualms in spending a 5th Annual Retreat in this home. Richard is awesome. If there was a 6 star rating, we will certainly give this home a 6 star rating!

I was not able to access the property because the property owner completely scammed us. $530!! Home Away insisted that I had to
go through the property owner even though she turned off her phone and refused to answer a combined total of 17 calls, texts, and emails. Property owner took my money at booking and was unresponsive and the place was not accessible. Home Away was rude in their attempt to help me and ended up putting me up in a terrible hotel in their pathetic attempt to “make it right”. They claim to be an advertising platform but they are obviously a middle-man to potential scammers because they obviously have access to the property accounts. They continue to allow this scamming property manager to continue renting through their site without any repercussions and leaving us with no choice but to accept their terrible excuse for a replacement. I didn’t even intend to do business with Home Away!! I booked through Expedia because they are usually reliable, and ended up getting them without my knowledge. Oh and they also don’t do refunds and don’t stand by the customer. They would rather cater to the scammers that post on their page. Worst experience EVER!

We recently rented a property listed at $55 a day we booked for 8 weeks they had the instant confirmation. At 2am we received a message from homeowner stating sorry not available for those dates money will be refunded. We start looking for a new rental and there it is available for the time frame we are putting into system but now for $65 a day. We called home away and they couldn’t seem to understand what we were saying there is a serious lack of English speaking reps when you call in. Now we are reading reviews before booking and keep finding repeatedly booked for months cancelled last minute by owner. Why do we have penalties for cancellations yet the owners do not? Why if the owner canceled repeatedly are they still allowed to advertise with you? We have heard from several people we know this has happened to them also. We have rented multiple homes through the years as have many of our friends but unfortunately your reputation is going down the drain because you are allowing this to continually happen.

Since taking over from vrbo the service remains the same yet we pay more so home away can make a business of what used to be a great site. How could you forget about the millions of people who made site what it was so you could buy them out? You could charge 5% more and still make great money - I believe you also take a cut from home owner too on each booking? Greed will take you out of business!
Two stars because it’s still a great way to book stay without going thru hotels but have you noticed how full Marriott is on Marco Island?

Too often the location turns out not to be as detailed.
HomeAway will not let you review a property if you don’t answer positively to their question after a stay, if you will refer them to a friend.
Worried more about garbage disposal than if property is clean and kept up.
Too often: Beds saggy, bed linens and sheets need to be replaced...
HomeAway difficult to contact with problems. Call center outside US or UK and can usually not answer questions posed.

I have used AirBnB and VRBO many times I the past and had great luck! They are responsive and helpful. HomeAway is terrible! I had an issue with the property owner and they basically told me - not our problem - go work it out! When the owner was terrible and unwilling to settle - they told me to go away. Horrible customer service and they claim ‘we are just an advertising platform’. It’s total BS and go somewhere else!!

This app and the service was a true treasure under VRBO. But for some reasons since they started the practice of an outrageous service fee per rental things have turned bad and the app does not deliver on its promises anymore, which feels like a scam to me: I tried to make the final payment - got an ‚oops try later‘ for days. Then I tried to get help from HomeAway and you can’t get any! The call and chat buttons are dead under iOS. Then I contacted the owner and was told to pay directly with his company because what I’m experiencing is a known issue. Stay tuned what happens next...
Did not stand behind customer 1/5
This time last year, before my rental began, I was asked by my HomeAway host to find other accommodations that would better suit my need for a small family gathering following my dad’s funeral. I obliged and quickly booked another suitable home nearby. To my surprise, the original host kept nearly $1000 of my money with no refund~ HomeAway and Evolve did not stand behind me to help retrieve my large sum of money.
I have have much better luck with AirBNB in the many rentals since this theft.

This is a great app to find a good short term rental at Myrtlewoodvillas. Makes finding a unit so easy. We have found the best condos for rent at great prices.

I book a condo for week in Wildwood Crest New Jersey. We wanted to go down as a family and all stay at the same place instead of hotel rooms which we usually did. I booked the condo in September and paid $1670 on it. The end of May a few days befor rest of payment was due I got a email saying my reservation was canceled with no explanation!!!!! Needless to say we were all very disappointed I tried to book other places in the same area in around the same price range but could not find anything. I received no help from app and owner of property would not respond to my emails !!!!
