IDAGIO - Classical Music app reviews

  • Outstanding! My favorite music app 5/5

    By yosef123
I have never subscribed to a music streaming service, mostly because most services have very few classical offerings. I have listened to IDAGIO every day since I downloaded it, and I’ve been recommending it to friends. I even stream music in the car now. This is the app I have been looking for for years. Thank you!
  • No filter 2/5

    By Bffrfm98
It’s very annoying to click on a recording and read, this recording not available in your country! Hello? You can’t put a regional feature?
  • Problem with streaming 2/5

    By Ericg51
I love this app, but the problem I have with it makes it all but unusable. Quite often the sound just stops yet the app will show that it is playing. This never happens with Spotify. If this continues to happen I will need to cancel my subscription.
  • Excellent 5/5

    By 242ASHCo
The best classical music app I’ve found. Great selection of composers, albums and pieces. No interruptions.
  • Practically perfect. 4/5

    By MorganModena
Finally, fantastic, high quality classical music source. With Sennheiser HD600 pure bliss. Some connectivity issues with Chromecast.
  • Perfect, But Missing One Feature 4/5

By Your everyday cup of Joe
IDAGIO truly is the ultimate classical music lover’s service. No other music streaming service (including Primephonic) comes close to matching the catalogue and search capabilities that IDAGIO has to offer. The app interface feels familiar, is clean and easy to use. The only missing feature holding me back from five stars is the fact that you cannot automatically set a certain playback quality for WiFi and cellular streaming. For example, to tell the app to automatically use AAC 320 KBPS for cellular streaming and Lossless FLAC for WiFi. While the streaming quality can be switched manually, it is a bit of pain to have to do so every time I switch from WiFi to cellular data and vice-versa. This is one feature that Primephonic holds over IDAGIO. I hope to see this feature integrated in the (hopefully) near future, and then I will without hesitation award IDAGIO its fifth star.
  • Excellent, but needs Apple Car Play 5/5

    By MDS.ESQ
Please continue to add to music catalog and a must is to add Apple Car Play capability.
  • Excellent 5/5

    By zdzjfmfcm
Sleek and responsive; truly well-thought out interface and design. Both functional and aesthetic. Amazing search capabilities in terms of organization and filters by specific categories. Ability to download for offline-listening in full lossless is wonderful.
  • Disappointing 1/5

    By Sneior
Selections limited. No, few full operas. Selections .. more a showcase for selected performers
  • Amazing Collection, powerful search 5/5

    By ClassicsDude
Massive collection of recordings in all classical genres. Search is easy and powerful allowing the user to discover new music or recordings of favorites. Absolutely love this app.
  • Best Classical Music Streaming ATM 5/5

    By Brahmsians
The folks at Idagio have created the best that currently exists for classical buffs like me. All that is missing is integration with Apple Carplay. Granted you can play over bluetooth in car but full carplay support would be amazing! Thanks Idagio. Are you listening Apple Music!!? You are a joke.
  • What a pleasure 5/5

    By La Dordogne
I’m not a well educated person on the classical music stand point. Until I discovered IDAGIO, I relied on diverse radio stations but I felt it was more or less the same kind of music played over and over. IDAGIO opened all kinds of new doors, I love the format, the diversity, composers, periods, genres, interpreters. I love Emily’s suggestions, I love the mood selection when I just want to set up something quickly. It’s a fantastic APP for anybody who loves classical music. Great job, guys!
  • Would be even better with CarPlay 3/5

    By Czbrock
What a great concept, and the selection and audio quality is fantastic. The app would be the complete package if it was CarPlay enabled.
  • THE BEST 5/5

    By Doesn't have a nickname
I’ve always wanted something like this! I love classical music, and this app lets you stream Classical, Romantic, and 20th Century music. This app has introduced me to many different pieces of music! Franz Liszt (my favorite composer) I thought he only wrote 6 Pieces containing the orchestra. Apparently he wrote a ton. Currently I am listening to one of his concertos right now. This app is great! It gives you all the best players. This is the greatest application to use to stream Classical music. For Classical music lovers! Download it it’s free high quality application.
  • Frequent stops and many “non-starters” 3/5

    By johannsebbach
The idea of classical focus streaming is good and I like the way I can search recordings by composers, soloists, ensembles and many criterion that none of the other popular streaming services can match. The lossless streaming is also nice. However, the connection issues are very annoying. Usually, after a couple skips to find the right music for the moment, the app will be stuck at time zero, with the loading/connecting icon spinning forever. Once this happens, you will not be able to play any other work as they will also be “non-starters”. Only killing (swipe up in iOS) and restarting the app could fix this. Also, the music might suddenly stop in the middle of a piece for no apparent reason sometimes. Also, as someone already mentioned, there is no easy way you can see the album cover when you are playing the music. The only time the app shows the album cover is when you actually play the “album” instead of a piece you located through search. I am not sure about future generations but most of us today still identify certain recordings by the album covers. There is no point showing the same Beethoven’s portrait when I go through his piano sonatas from various performers.
  • Amazing selections 5/5

    By iamjohnm
The numerous recordings per selections allow you to compare various artists. Since I listen exclusively to classical music, the features are perfect for me.
  • Gracias 5/5

    By Hesacha
Simplemente fantástica aplicación, la variedad es muy bien seleccionada y muy fácil de manejar,
  • Great app, navigation poor 4/5

    By Jodie001
This is a wonderful app for classical music lovers. The selections are vast and outstanding. However, the menu system needs a complete overhaul to make this a 5-star app. IDAGIO is great to use in Apple Play where I like to use the “radio”. Set this up the way you like it BEFORE you start driving.
  • gratitude 5/5

  • Refreshing 5/5

What a wonderful venue for discovering a vast amount of the world’s greatest music. The way the site is presented opens doors to the young to explore fine music and makes it all fun. Bravo!
  • Everything Classical in Excellent App 5/5

    By MDiv2005
Creative approach and very detailed — I use it everyday
  • IDAGIO is good but 3/5

    By davirake
Everything is here my favorites fidelity is great, but how about a search function. How do I find serenade for strings?
  • Free for a fee 5/5

    By hatedems
Doesn’t tell you up front there is a monthly charge after a period of time!
  • Collection with Flaws 1/5

    By LJRose07
For me this app is not worth subscribing for $9.99 per month. Just as one example, they have 49 different recordings of Mahler’s gigantic third symphony incl. old stuff, but to many big surprise they missed one of the best recordings with Esa-Pekka Salonen and the LA Symphony. For many people it does not matter, for someone who loves his Mahler this is a no-no, especially as this is one of the younger recordings and they miss that. Not for me.
  • Thanks but no thanks 1/5

  • Wishlist 5/5

Dear developer: what a wonderful app. Lovely music and well thought out. My wishlist is as follows: - Student pricing - AppleTV dedicated app to stream at home with proper hi fi gear Thank you!!
  • Warning 1/5

    By Trytryagain11
It is not free. They want $9.95 per month.
  • Superb streaming for classical music! 5/5

    By JohnnySantaRosa
The more I explore the app, the more impressed I am by all the ways IDAGIO lets me discover and enjoy my favorite music. All the curated playlists I have tried are excellent. The search features seem limitless. Even the “Mood” playlists, which I expected to be a bit corny, are surprisingly and consistently exactly right. This is not just a beautiful app; it’s thoughtfully and creatively arranged content. Really a pleasure to use!
  • Now it crashes repeatedly 1/5

    By jjphoto
Update - after latest update the app crashes any time you search for anything. I even deleted the app and reinstalled. Same result. There is a major problem with it when you have to start and start a track. I’ll have to stop the music for a few minutes while I have a conversation with a coworker (I stream to a Bluetooth speaker in my office) and when the conversation is over I will hit play. It will usually start the track over again or it will leap ahead arbitrarily to another track. Otherwise I love this service and am happy to pay for it. It fills a great void for classical fans.
  • Stick to Spotify 2/5

    By RayAtch
I downloaded this as a tool to have a service dedicated to Classical music. Unfortunately Spotify is still the better option even for the music that this service is made for. Spotify is easier to use and has much more compositions available. Maybe I’ll check back in some other time, but for now I’ll have to delete.
  • Not free 1/5

    By JayDee97
This is only free for a 14 day trial.
  • Adagio’s 5/5

    By Cynmcrn
Though I’ve only listened to a few pieces, the notes are clear, music direction mus be outstanding.
  • Excellent curation. Everything classical fans dream of. 5/5

    By Joel D. Arnold
I’ve been dedicated to classical music lifelong and consume massive amounts weekly. Prior to this I used general music services which were Ok. But IDAGIO has the power of discovery, both giving me incredible access to even obscure works but also excellent curation and the discovery of things I’ve never found but love. It has made this already quite broad classical fan even broader. I’ve recommended it to all my friends and become a massive fan of IDAGIO. I’m opening this app every day, all day. Btw, very responsive developer. I used to have three suggestions here but they fixed all of those things within a few months. It’s ridiculous. Very impressive.
  • Great 5/5

    By Hugoloso
    Excelent App!!
  • Excellent 5/5

    By Bruno Porcelli
This app is amazing, really really great. Maybe in order to advertise it you should allow it to share what you're listening in Instagram just as Spotify does.
  • Good; could use improvements 4/5

    By The highflier
I’d echo a recent reviewer - album artwork being shown after a basic search would be awesome because it would help me sort through albums extremely quickly, much more quickly than reading the conductors’ names. I’m impressed though; I wasn’t sure how this would work out, but it is a keeper. I’m pleasantly surprised.
  • Brilliant App 5/5

    By Enty2
Nothing else quite like it ... and beautifully designed. Well worth paid subscription.
  • Superb 4/5

    By Nosejobb
So far appealing music to listen and relax to
  • Hello there 3/5

    By good / bad girl
I have a question can I listen to it for free with out a subscription
  • What a Joy! 5/5

    By m_mrcr
The missing link in music streaming services has always been their classical catalogs. Idagio completes that chain and more. I so appreciate Idagio’s familiar interface and extensive library, but I most enjoy being able to dial in to a work and hear it through so many different interpretations.
  • Options 4/5

    By Slopeggy
I would love to have the availability to move in 10 second increments either back or forward. I use my playlist not just for listening but for practice. Can’t wait for this helpful option to make my day. The sooner the better!
  • Exactly What I Was Looking For 5/5

    By Clevershutter
I’ve struggled for a while trying to organize my classical collection on iTunes without much success for a simple reason: iTunes organizes music by track. That doesn’t work for classical music. When I found IDAGIO I cleared my classical collection from iTunes and I rebuilt it on IDAGIO. Now I find myself listening to IDAGIO all the time. I love the sound quality and the search engine. I can find what I want to listen to quickly and I can enjoy it and get lost in the music thanks to this little app. One request to the product management team: Please give us CarPlay support. I want to see IDAGIO on the CarPlay screen in my car. You’ll make a lot of us very happy when it finally comes out.
  • Doesn’t work 1/5

    By oysterbay CT
This app used to be a five but now it’s a zero. The problem is that we can’t get it to play and we can’t even get the subscription renewed I have spoke to two experts and they had no clue. Any ideas?
  • Love it! 5/5

Love this app. There is nothing like it for classical music lovers.

  • Incredible 5/5

    By ConstructiveFiveNumbers
Well made and easy to get good music quickly. I am especially fond of the well made Mood feature. The app surprisingly enough is perfect for games of Dnd, which I use to create a good sense of ambiance. I have been looking for a tool like this and it is perfect.
  • Favorite app 5/5

    By buenos viola
Idagio is a must have app for classical music lovers! It is formatted for us, not for pop music. Everything I could ever want is available there and then they have these awesome curated playlists that introduce you to pieces you didn’t you would love like Schoenberg’s Gurrelieder and Lili Boulanger’s Matin. So happy my son introduced me to this!
  • They listened 5/5

    By D. Michael Owen
Props to the developers for listening when I complained (and unsubscribed) over the addition of an “autoplay” feature that played suggested music when an album or playlist was done. You can now turn this feature off. And I am back to being a subscriber to Idagio, which offers best-in-class music discovery, metadata and search, and audio quality for people who listen to classical music.
  • Love it 5/5

    By TaylorPlayer
Apple Music has never been good at classical and I don't think it ever will be. Idagio has so much music and really smart ways to search for and save it. I am very happy with the service.
