WOW! Finally, something that works! 5/5
I had the dreaded Safari-CNN.com adware driving me nuts. Tried every-which-way playing whack-a-mole trying to hunt down the cause. FINALLY, I found an article, once I got the search terms right: "mac safari cnn malware".
Once I got Ka-Block, wow! The problem went away. The kicker was when it didn't happen with FireFox. That's when I narrowed the search terms. Wished I'd known about this sooner!!
Been using it for years 5/5
I’ve been using it for years.
In High Sierra with Safari 13.0.2 and in private browsing mode especially it works very well.
The best out of ANY free ones 5/5
Every time I logged on to foxnews.com, i would get a banner on the top. None of the ad blockers were able to block that until I installed Ka Block. This has always worked for me very effectively. It catches things that other free ad blockers don't catch.
Great set it and forget it option 5/5
if you're looking for a "it just works" option - this is it - there are no settings to set, or whitelists and blacklists to create. The people giving 1 star are asking for an extension that collects user data, and that's fine if it works for you better; I prefer Kablock because it's simple and doesn't have the ability to store my passwords, credit card numbers, and browsing history.
"This extension's goals are modest.
Block most ads and trackers.
Never contact a server.
Never slow down a page"
Impacted functionality of websites 1/5
The first test I ran (cnet) failed. I ran it side-by-side with Chrome/uBlock Origin and Kablock caused the cnet site to load slowly and have issues displaying non-add/legitimate content. I can't recommend it.
Not as effective as some other blockers 1/5
Ka-Block! allows alot more ads than uBlock Origin and Ka-Block doesn’t give u the ability to block the ads that it misses. Heck Ka-Block! didn’t even block the ad in yahoo mail.
Simple But Super Effective Sollution 5/5
I have had issues with sites I use moving so slow cause of the crazy number of ads. After installing this and going to look at those sites it was a total 180, they are running fater than ever and no pop up or sidebar ads.
The most simple and effective ad blocker for Safari! 5/5
I have been using Kablock for over a year now and it is by far my go-to choice for Safari and iOS. It effectively blocks ads without breaking websites (or even having websites detect you're using an adblocker) without ever requiring the user to do anything beyond install the extension. My only wish is if the developers provided an extension for Firefox too so I could use it on my Windows laptop for work.
Does what it says 5/5
I like that this doesn't need access to anything sensitive and never talks to the internet. Does what it says and does it well. My only concern is whether the block lists will continue to get updated. It's been over 6 months.
Absolute crap 1/5
This does not work for youtube ads, way better apps out there
No youtube blocking 2/5
The first thing I always test in an ad blocker is youtube preroll ads. This blocker does not block youtube ads which makes it pretty much useless as an ad blocker unfortunatly.
I really love the look of it, so I hope they improve.
Works great as long as you remember to enable Safari content blocking! 5/5
I thought this wasn't working and that it wasn't removing the dreaded AdChoice ads. I was mistaken! It actually works great as long as you remember to enable Safari Content Blocking in Safari Preferences.
It also respects your privacy! It clearly states it does not have permission to read or transmit content from any webpages. That is definitely not the case with all ad blockers! Some can read your passwords and credit card info and will tell you that (click the fine print next to your Safari extensions in Safari/Preferences/Extensions
Keep up the great work, guys!
Can't Whitelist 3/5
It works fine, but overall a bit crap because you can't seem to whitelist sites or pages.
Doens't work 1/5
This does not work on youtube or any ads for that matter. Do not downlad...
doesn't appear to work 1/5
i just downloaded this Safari extension in hopes that my internet browsing would be more clutter free.
in testing if this ad blocker truly worked, i quite Safari after turning it on and went to a site that is notorious for ads... alas, the ads are there just like before and I am not sure if I did something wrong, but it appears the ads that were there have no changed at all in number or form...
Love it ……but , too effective ? 3/5
By Got blocked
This works as advertised and quietly behind the scenes . Solid ad blocker that just plain works and very effectively .
Unfortunatly its a little too effective . Now I cant log in to access a certain member website that I need access too . I thought the site was just down , but it turns out the KaBlock ad was preventing me to get past the log in screen . Uninstalled KaBlock, and had no problems .
Love this ad Blocker, but sadly cant use it. If it only had a user friendly way to bypass blocking on certain websites that didnt need blocking, it would be perfect .
This didn't block anything for me 1/5
I'm not sure why, but this didn't block any ads in Safari for me. I restarted Safari and restarted my computer. There's also no extension button, so I can't do anything to manually block an ad or put in my own filters.
I like this extension 5/5
I didn't realize how much ads and tracking software was slowing down Safari until I installed this extension. Now my browsing experience is better and access to sites I use all the time is a lot faster. Thank you for opening my eyes.
sorry but this app just dose not work
Still getting quite a few ads 2/5
I downloaded this after updating to Mojave and im pretty dissapointed. I still see ads on videos and on webpages all the time. I miss my old adblocker, i never saw any ads with it running.
It is good but doesnt block youtube video ads :/ 4/5
If you want to turn of per site right click the toolbar and add the gear. Click the gear and then unclick "enable conent blockers"
did not do anything 1/5
this did not block any ads as far as I could tell. yes, it was running and enabled.
Does not worj with youtube 1/5
This app does not work with youtube ads.
I'm glass i found wipr
kills the entire msn.com feed 2/5
It may be great for some, but bad for me. I prefer the layout of msn as my news / current events feed and this extension kills it completely. As in I can pull up msn.com but nothing is there until I turn this extension off. As long as you never use msn.com you might be ok.
Like the concept and efficient 4/5
As the title states, I like the concept and it is efficient. Over 6 months to update is too long between updates if you're going to use a set list of ads to block. Will stick with uBlock Origin for Safari 12 on my Mac at least until it blocks ads for videos and social networks better. My current choice for my iPhone.
Doesn’t work 1/5
I cannot make this work as an extension!
Looks to be working 4/5
It is not as versatile or configurable as ad-block or similar, but seems to do the job of limiting the amount of ads shown.
It does work 5/5
It does work but u have to enable it from safari pref.
Love it 5/5
I love how it is KISS (keep it stupidly simple)
No options to bother with, it does its job silently!
THANK YOU FOR PUTTING THIS FOR FREE
After one day 1/5
A lot more ads than I had with AdBlock. Bummer.
Does not work 1/5
By sfihja49tu T
Just don’t do it
does not work! 1/5
I just installed this and it does not block ads! What a waste of space.
Poorly Designed App 1/5
Ka-Block is a poorly designed app that doesn’t work for me. I can’t remember if I had the opportunity to choose whether I wanted to allow some ads that weren’t supposed to be abusive or not, I looked at a few ad blockers yesterday. After activating Ka-block I didn’t see any actual reduction of annoying ads, especially the really annoying and too numerous google ads. I really miss my Ad Blocker Plus, that actually worked.
I’m running the very latest version of High Sierra 10.13.6. I use the standard Safari internet program with no modifications. The problem is the lack of being able to uninstall this app. I’m wishing I could uninstall Ka-Block so I could try reinstalling it again to see if I have an opportunity to turn off the default click on that question about allowing some ads. I don't know how to get rid of extensions in Safari so perhaps someone who does can actually explain it in a review here. Still I’ve seen other extensions that do allow us to delete or remove them. If we can uninstall Ka-Block then we have a chance to answer that option question properly if it has one. Even better would be to allow us to configure Ka-Block inside of Ka-Block so if we answered an option incorrectly we have the ability to correct that.
Works very well 5/5
After uninstalling Ad Block Plus due to the security issues, I noticed that several sites that I frequently visit started to burn up my CPU due to the large number of ads. After installing Ka-Block!, that problem has been solved.
great app but can’t run on Safari 12 and MacOS10.12 4/5
Fabulous app, however after upgrading to Safari 12 on a MacOS10.12 system it’s no longer compatible. Apple says I have to install High Sierra which I don’t wish to do, and I can’t install an older version of Ka-Block with the new Safari. No way to roll back Safari of course. Thanks for breaking this, Apple.
Doesn’t Block Youtube Ads 1/5
Apple you messed up with Safari 12. And Ka-block is crap compared to the old extensions. I tried it and it didn’t block youtube ads which is one of the main reasons I use ad blockers in the first place. So, now I’m back to using old extensions the Apple says slows down Safari. Well screw you Apple for doing this crap in the first place.
Blocks Ads and Annoying Stuff 5/5
By City of Chicago Guy
DirectTV Not! 3/5
Not compatable on "DirectTV Now" site. You will just get a black screen. (Go into preferences, uncheck Ka-block! and then refresh page. It will now work). So do I want to do this everytime I go on to TV sites like this? Not sure if it’s worth turning it back on.
Doesn’t do anything 1/5
does nothing 1/5
ka-block your all set ! proceeds to yt and get more ads than network tv.
Beware: Doesn’t work in High Sierra 1/5
First of all, why is this an “application” rather than an extension? It doesn’t actually block any ads and you cant turn it on and off from the browser toolbar. Not sure if Apple nerfed this or if it’s Ka-block. Short story, doesn’t do anything anymore.
DO NOT GET -DOESN’T BLOCK ANYTHING 1/5
doesn’t block anything, can’t uninstall it either. and they actually removed my negative review -which makes me want this crap extension even less than I did before I wrote my 1st negative review. DO NOT GET THIS.
Works as advertised 5/5
That's not a problem for most... those who can read at least. I appreciate this being provided for free, and advise others to try it before listening to incompetant whiners looking for help in the wrong places (reviews). Don't know how to uninstall an app, you have no place using a computer and I don't feel sorry for you.
Highly rtecommend 5/5
I cannot understand the negative reviews. I have been using it for a year. Totally effecive at blocking ads. Has not broken any sites so far, even Hulu. Easy to disable and uninstall in Safari. Go to Safari preferences, select Extensions, uncheck to disable and click Unistall to uninstall.
Don't Believe the Bad Reviews 5/5
This application works fine, as expected and advertised. The one-star reviews are left by morons who don't know how to use their computer.
Does not block Dailymotion ads 1/5
Title says it all. No good
Made Safari faster and stopped adware 5/5
I think those whining about this App are those who run websites that are abusing Safari.
Ka works great , I was using Yahoo with Safari and it would change pages by itself ,
my anti virus software stopped the webpages from opening because of malicious content
but Ka stopped the browser from doing so.
Anti Virus is not enough, Ka completes the job. It has made my browser faster as well.
Ka-block still allows advertisements on a few websites such as YouTube, abc7news, and a few others. Hope these holes are eventually patched up.
Doesn't Block much 2/5
The current version running on Safari 12 blocks very few ads on my webpages. It doenst seem to allow me to block additional ads or tell it which new ones to add the the list. Hopefully they improve their app or I might have to jump back over to chrome.
