Keeps crashing 3/5
Every time I press on the title (language name) or the pen on the top right corner, it crashes on iPhone XR

Wow!!! Great app! 5/5

We are moving to Germany and so I wanted to start learning some basic phrases and words before we get there. I did not want to pay $100 for a language learning app and found Memrise as a recommended free app. I am highly impressed with how much language practice, review and variety this app gives you for free! It even shows real people in Germany, on video, saying the words and phrases! I can’t believe I’m not paying for this! Love Memrise!
I really love this app. 5/5
It makes it to where learning is easy.
Don't recommend 2/5
I've used several other language learning apps and this one is by far the most confusing. You can't pick your level of fluency and are therefore stuff learning what you already know. The pace is extremely slow and doesn't hold my interest. Repetitions is great but not when you are just clicking the same sentence over and over again just to move forward.

Effective ad Fun 5/5
this app makes learning fun, with many feature i have yet to explore. you have a chalice of premium, like with any other app, but it still lets you continue with no purchase

Ruski yizzik is fun
awesome app 5/5
it’s a really practical app and I never get bored when I use it.
I might delete the app 1/5
I might delete the app because it won’t let me do more Learning in the languages and it is locked and when I try to do a new skill or learn a new word it won’t let me do it and I have to pay so I’m mad but if I try to do Korean it don’t let me do it.😢😠😠😤😤
I love it 5/5
This feels like duolingo’s better half due to the use of an actual human speaking it and might be better form visual learners always with a crutch to help if you don’t understand. Even though it took time to understand how it works once I figured it out I have loved it ever since I downloaded it.
Love this app!!
“Free” lessons are locked 3/5
I really love the app but cant progress to new words without hitting a pay wall that isn't there on the android version. Many other users have this same issue. Can access them on desktop version but even after they are completed, they cannot be opened on the app.
Cautiously Optimistic 4/5

Update: Back to four stars since Memrise finally decided to listen to its users and has committed to providing a separate app (Decks) that will have community created content and provided offline access. If you want to brush up on your vocab while traveling abroad you won’t be forced to eat up expensive data. It shouldn’t take a torches and pitchforks level community uprising to get a discussion going when major changes are announced that would alter the core of the app, but here we are.
So far, Memrise is a solid language learning app. I just hope it doesn’t destroy itself like so many others have.
Old Review: MY QUESTION REMAINS - Will Pro Members from Memrise be subjected to ads on Decks? It’s bad enough that Memrise is hoisting user generated content to a website and killing offline downloads for the content that subscribers have PAID for, but if they try forcing ads on us to use content we’ve already purchased, they deserve nothing but one star reviews.
So, answer the question: Will Decks be truly “free” or will it be ad-supported? What happens to Pro Subscribers IF you do decide to monetize?
Your users deserve a clear answer!
I’m truly tempted to request a refund if these changes hit as expected and others should too. We PAID for offline access and it is being TAKEN AWAY! So disgusted with these canned responses that I don’t even want to open the app.
The new Memrise app needs to be mindblowingly awesome to excuse this major change — removing content and making it unavailable offline and having no app from which to access it is not “just a minor change”. Having seen some of the bizarre ideas Memrise has had in the past (I’m looking at you weird little alien) no one should expect the changes to be good.
Updates should IMPROVE apps not make them worse. 😕
Older review: Will Pro Subscriptions be honored on Decks? I purchased a lifetime subscription to Memrise and use some community created courses. I do not want to pay again just because Memrise took this content and transferred it to another site (with no app available!!!). If Decks is “free”, then does my lifetime subscription remove the ads that will no doubt be present in Decks?
This question needs to be answered. And if the answer is unsatisfactory, then refunds need to happen. Let your biggest supporters know what on earth is going on. 😟 This is so freaking disappointing and I won’t be recommending Memrise anymore if they do go through with this completely unwelcome move.
Foreign exchange student 5/5
This is a very helpful app. I am in middle school and a new girl had come into my class. She started speaking Spanish, I had no idea what to say because I only knew how to say hello!! But now I can speak to her in full sentences.
Moving to Decks 5/5
All user created courses are moving to a new service called Decks. Unfortunately, they’re not making an app, so you won’t be able to learn offline. As good as mobile optimized websites can be, they’re no replacement for native apps. My lifetime pro membership feels bad now, but it was good while it lasted.
Edit: they’re making an app 🎉
Learning Japanese, love this app right away. Camera and chat features are very cool. I feel like I’m learning to speak real, usable phrases
Usually learn using Duolingo. This app has way more languages to choose from and it much easier.
I want to make and see mems 4/5
How long does it take to get it through to you the internet sight gives more then the app no one cares about cameras I need to see people’s mems it helps
That desktop app better have that option at I’ll give you a one star instead of four and then I’ll delete the app and toss this device into the pool after smashing it with a hammer and throwing it in the fire we’re it’ll melt away all evidence of me ever supporting this ap app mwarahhahahahaha🤯😡😠😈
You do relive that I was being sarcastic right😉 I appreciate what you guys are doing god bless😊
Should be free
As a student... 1/5
I’m trying to learn some basic Korean in anticipation of taking a college course, but I can’t get past the first 12 words without paying. I can’t afford the high prices demanded for premium. The app boasts free language learning, but locks anything beyond the very basics behind payment. Not fair or genuine.
Community Content will be hobbled 5/5
I’ve enjoyed and paid for this app for a while, but I’ve just been told that all community-created courses — which is to say, the vast majority of the courses available, and the majority of the courses that I use — will be removed from the app shortly and placed on a website with far less functionality. This is extremely disappointing. I am hurt that MemRise will remove these useful courses while I and many others are in the middle of learning from them. I am not convinced that the few remaining MemRise-created courses are high enough quality to justify the continued use of the app.
ETA — while I do not appreciate the response sent to my review, which falsely implies that the Decks website was originally designed to have anywhere near the functionality of MemRise (as their announcements made clear, it was not), I do appreciate that they have listened to the customer outrage over this decision and made a better decision. Decks will now be designed to have an app with offline mode (a crucial feature for many users, such as myself) and community courses will be able to remain on MemRise while the app is being developed. Changing my review to 5 stars.
I love to speak French and I also speak Spanish.
It really improves 4/5
This app really improves you language skill. J am learning Spanish and I learned about 5-10 new words in a week or less.

Decks App & Memrise!!!! 5/5
Thank you so much for letting us stay on the Memrise app until the decks app is up and running!!!!!! This has been very helpful for my welsh course! Thank you for listening to your users!!!! This is why you’re different from the rest!!!!!!
Used to love this app 1/5
I used to use this app to learn and now you made it so that you have to pay to access any of the content. You’ve lost a user. 👎
Awesome app for learning a new language 5/5
Awesome app for learning new language
Useful review, NO LONGER FREE. 2/5
I’m only writing this review because of recent events. Normally I wouldn’t write a review if an app was good or bad.
When I first got this app, I had the intention of learning Japanese. Then I switched to Korean. I really enjoyed this app for the learning process. This would help you learn common phrases. This app was amazing compared to others and especially duolingo. I was satisfied with what was provided. This app would always ask “On a scale from 1-10, how would you recommend this app to your friends?” I would always put 10, because I really thought they would enjoy it and find it helpful. Recently I recommended this app to a friend. She really enjoyed it and found it useful. When she wanted to move on to the next lesson, she was bombarded with ads to purchase plans. So she deleted the app. Now she got the app again, thinking it was just an apparent bug, and was fixed. She comes to find that you completely need to purchase a plan, unlike before. THIS IS ONLY FOR NEW USERS. Which is completely unfair. We got this app because classes are expensive and other apps aren’t as helpful. If we wanted to purchase plans, we could have just gotten Rosetta Stone.
Simple but effective 5/5
So far I’m enjoying this app. Beginning vocab is actually pretty fun. Seems like it’ll be a good way to kill time when I’m bored
Great app but... 3/5
It has kept me on the same review for months, kinda getting sick of foods. All in all the app is pretty good for teaching, I’m just patiently waiting for more things to learn👍😂
Great way to memorize vocabulary. 5/5
I use Memrise in tandem with other language apps (Babbel, Duolingo), which all have different strengths. As the name implies, the beauty of Memrise is in the way it helps with rote memorization of new words and phrases. They've just begun incorporating little grammar lessons as well, will be interesting to see how the app develops. Recommended as part of a well-rounded language-learning arsenal.

Another subscription! 1/5
I hate these subscriptions that apps are doing now. I may just delete all of them and not have any, though over a period of years, I’ve enjoyed using them and I haven’t minded paying for them, even if some have been a little pricey. But I don’t even know what some of the subscriptions ARE now—there are descriptions of weekly, monthly, and yearly plans, and I understand that. But there are other ones for different prices, and no description for those—on this one and others. It’s ridiculous. Why not change for certain things, like a certain amount of lessons or something different...? It just seems like a waste of money.
Great app 5/5
Was good 2 years ago when I downloaded, still good today.

This works great because now I can respond back and understand what my friend says in French (and other languages)
And this meant I installed this app and fired my tutor for a reason I love this! You should get it
Getting started fast 5/5
It was getting me really started on French and after 7 months I know all the words
Fantastic App to reminding the words 5/5
I really enjoy using this app while it helping me to remember all the words which it learnt to me.
Amazing language app! 5/5
This app will get you speaking in a matter of just a few minutes. I’ve never seen anything like it before. I didn’t speak a word of French but after using Memrise in just 5 minutes I can speak French. This is one of the best and quickest language apps around 👍
Really good but there’s a catch 4/5
I learned a lot more russian than i did using duolingo. I was excited to learn more until i finish level 1 and needed to play a pretty hefty amount of money ($30-$60) to go further. I’m not going to spend that much on this app because im poor, but i cant say the same for everyone.
My favorite app ever❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ 5/5
I love it
Latest several versions retain a bug that cuts of final letters in review mode - making the app functionally unusable until this is fixed. Have reported, but several updates released since that perpetuate this bug.
