Easy to use 5/5

Easy yo use books from my library
Very hard to move around in this app.
Love it! 5/5
Super easy to use and love that I have access to my local library but don’t have to leave my house. Downloading audio books was a breeze and are great for road trips.
And the big bonus I don’t have to pay a penny!
A real pain to use 1/5
While I like being able to borrow digital content from my local public library, I find it exhausting that if I tag a book I’d like to read in the Libby app, the only way I can change it to “hold” is to then select “manage “ and then scroll to the bottom of my phone to change the status.
The Libby interface is not intuitive, requires too many steps and quite frankly, I’m disappointed my library transitioned from the old platform. I’d prefer to but my books rather than to suffer through using this app.
Keeps crashing 1/5

Don’t know why this version keeps crashing. Please fix.
More Audiobooks 5/5
I would like to have more choices in audiobooks, especially historical fiction and Christian fiction.
Cool App! 4/5

Really great App....pretty easy to use too!
Tutorials run a bit fast, so if you could slow the sequences a little, I wouldn’t have to repeat it 3-4 times to understand.
Great UI but... 3/5
By lgbt public librarian
Maybe it’s on an individual library basis, but browsing and searching for specific genres or types of work can be difficult outside of “typical” searches. Searching for minority group authors or titles is hard. Searching for, in my personal interests, LGBT material is more than challenging. I either have to sift through the general romance genre or know a specific author or publisher if LGBT material. As a patron and librarian, it’s hard to acknowledge I can’t readily provide / or give/get access such material.
Quite useless for me. 1/5
You’d think that an app that lets you put holds on books would also be smart enough to notify you when it’s been checked out and download it for you. Because of this, I’ve never been able to read a single book with this app. I either miss my checkout completely or it’s so far in (with no renewals) that there’s no point in starting because I wouldn’t be able to finish.
The best app I never knew I needed! 5/5
I’m so happy I stumbled upon this app! I was looking for an alternative to Audible and had no clue this existed. I was able to put my library card to use again! I listen to audiobooks everyday now, for free 🤓 🎧📚
One flaw 4/5
Love this app. Love being able to check out books whenever I want. The ONE flaw is that I can’t see the time while I’m reading. I know I can tap on the screen to see it, but I get so involved reading sometimes that I don’t want to tap. This morning I was late getting my kid to school because I didn’t tap to see the time.
Easy! Thanks! 5/5
By excited to read more
More user friendly than the older overdrive app. I’m excited to read and listen to more books easily.
Lovely app for library patrons 5/5
I have always loved and frequented libraries, and while I’m sad switching from physical to ebooks has become a practical necessity, Libby at least makes it more enjoyable than it otherwise might be. The overall user experience and interface is clean and easy to use, and key interactions like renewal and search/checkout are integrated into the app (unlike the Kindle app, where I have to search via my library, check out a book, go to the Amazon page through the link, then open my app and make sure it synced). The app has a friendly tone and it’s clear from small details that the team behind it cares about their users. Of course there are things that could be improved, particularly around navigation and search, but I am very happy this app exists, and optimistic that it will only get better.
Nothing but issues 1/5
I can’t login to this app, and I’m in tech support. I can log in to Overdrive, I have been through all of the normal troubleshooting steps, and I still can’t login to this. I even use a password manager so it’s not like there’s a typo bw Overdrive and Libby. It just doesn’t work.
Finally got in with an old library card that should be expired after a move years ago, and I can get books onto my Kindle that way. Tried reading on the Libby App for a while and it kept losing my place!! The reader in the app is super annoying.
The app is okay if you can get in and you’ll never read anything on your phone. The checkout system for Kindle works.
Don't know if it's the Libby app or the lack of a ONE OVERALL PUBLISHING STANDARD for digital books, but frequently various aspects of some books (i.e. images, table of contents, appendices, etc.) do NOT format or resize in a manner that is legible to the reader.
Whose card? 3/5
It doesn’t let you know which card you are requesting a book under, but it keeps individual cards from taking out more than 3 books... so I can’t take out a book for my son, but it shows that there are 3 spots available.
Needs a new feature 3/5
Libby would be better if, once your turn in line came it gave you the option to borrow or move to second next in line. So many times I’ve gotten multiple waiting list items at once and I’m not able to finish them in the allowed time period and have to get back on the end of a long waiting list.
Working great 5/5
My library just started using Libby it is working great
Too many logins 1/5
Thought this would be helpful when traveling but thus far it’s annoying in that after registering, etc, I had to re-enter the same info again. If they are this concerned about security, they should offer fingerprint tech! And then to submit this review they want a nickname but as of six attempts- all are taken!
Libby is good but I can see room for improvements. 4/5
The search engine lets me see what I can borrow, so that’s good but I would like to see authors who write in similar styles i.e cozy mystery, romantic mystery, science fantasy clustered together. However, it does make me consider branching out of my comfort reading zone to see authors and titles I might otherwise have skipped quickly past.
Search options 4/5
Could be better
Very user friendly 5/5
Such a great app. Makes borrowing e books a breeze.
The best reading app 5/5
Libbey is the best app for readers or people who like to listen to audio books or need to because of disabilities it's easy to use and free I recommend it to all my friends
So amazing, I can get any book!!
Great app! 5/5
This app is great for juggling multiple library cards, libraries and Kindles. My only issue is that it won’t “find” the kids’ school libraries which belong to a consortium. And I’m looking forward to getting my book lists from Overdrive. Hopefully that feature will be added soon.
Great but audiobook progress sync needs work! 4/5
I love Libby and use it all the time. The only improvement needed for me is the progress sync between devices, especially for audio books. It’s somewhat unreliable right now. Often times when I switch from listening on my iPhone to listing on my iPad, the progress made on the phone won’t be synced and I have to try to find the exact spot where I last stopped. Otherwise I love the app and keep up the good work!
I love Libby!!!!! 5/5
I love Libby. My only complaint is that there aren’t more ebooks available. When I search for something that isn’t available it would be great if there were a way to vote for that item to be ordered
Easy on the wallet but... 3/5
This app is easier on the wallet but it’s very limited in books. If you happen to come across a new book(for example the book called baby teeth) you’re stuck on a waiting list with over 50 people. It’s ok but it’s lack of books and constant skipping over words is just to much. At least with audible I can find a book I’m searching for most of the time.
A Review 5/5
By Giorgio H
I spend a lot of time in Europe and use Libby often. In fact I have been using My Media Mall for years. I tried Libby when it came out and it is a real upgrade, so simple to use.
Many thanks to the public library system and especially Glenview Public Library. George Hostert
Returned books without consent 1/5
This app was a pain to use. More than once it return items I had on loan to the library before they were due and before I was done reading them. I would go into the app and it would say no loans available, when I had received something from my hold list just a few days before. It returned three books that I had been waiting for weeks to get my turn. It would stop in the middle of play back for no reason. And would constantly get buffering errors that could only be cleared by shutting the app down entirely. The OG Overdrive never gave me this kind of trouble. I’m going back to it.
2hr commute per day 5/5
I have a 2 hr commute each day and Libby has afforded me the opportunity to listen to books that I wish I had the time to read while at home. The anticipation or waiting for books to become available make me appreciate the book once it’s been completed. Have recommended app to many friends.
Libby doesn’t have as many audiobooks as I was hoping for.
Great app 5/5
By beach girlretired
Need a way to renew books.
Good but.... 4/5
I’m confused about an unknown Wait what does that mean??
Libby by overdrive -hit and miss 4/5
I like the app, but sometimes the books that I’ve downloaded disappear at the most inopportune Times. Usually when I’m away from wi-fi and have to use cellular data. I never had that problem with original overdrive. Where Libby surpasses overdrive is the ability to find books by certain authors or in a series in published or numerical order. That saves countless hours of time when you find a new series
Needs parental controls 3/5
Please add parental controls!!! My children don’t need to scroll through and see book covers that aren’t appropriate!!!
This is an awesome platform to listen to books. It is user friendly!
This has changed how I read books 5/5
I absolutely love this app. Until my library switched to Libby, I found it easier to drive to the library and collect a physical book then to download one of their e-books. Or I was paying money to purchase e-books from Amazon because it was less hassle than borrowing them for free from the library. But Libby is so easy to use and has such an excellent p user interface that it is my first port of call whenever I find something I want to read. I am completely converted!
Enjoy the convenience 5/5
I love using Libby because it’s like having the library in your home. You don’t have to leave your house to borrow a book or to return it. A wide variety also.
Libby doesn’t work 1/5
I downloaded the Libby app on my iPhone and got it working at home. Then I tried it in my car. Didn’t work..it just spun and spun.
Audiobooks are AWFUL on this app. 1/5
Let me begin by saying I was so excited to find an audiobook app that’s run by libraries. It’s the best of both worlds: utilize libraries and go easy on my wallet instead of paying for audible through Amazon.
But oh my freaking god. Listening to audiobooks is an AWFUL experience on this app. It keeps restarting from the beginning every time I open the app so I have to remember where I left off and drag the icon to the appropriate time.
AND EVEN THAT DOESN'T FIX IT. Because while I’m listening, in the middle of sentences, there are words that skip over or cut off as though they weren’t recorded. THEN THE APP RESETS TO THE BEGINNING OF THE BOOK AGAIN. Not the beginning of the chapter, the whole BOOK.
It’s infuriating. I’m two hours in and I can’t put up with the technical difficulties of the audiobooks anymore. It’s an 8 hour listen, but at this rate it’ll take three times that long. Ridiculous.
Great app! 5/5
I love being able to check out ebooks and audiobooks through the app!

Great humor. His plots are amazing. My wife enjoyed numerous moments reliving what we were reading.
Have to rush off and get another book.
Author not found 3/5
I just returned a book by the same author and now there are no books found....there were multiples to choose from before...my preferences are not the problem...
Love it! 5/5
By J Griff82
Awesome way to read and listen to books from your library at home. No actually going to the library required. I have a 45 min drive to work each way so listening to audio books on this app has been awesome!
Inconsistent with Returns 3/5
This app works great for checking books and audiobooks out and for placing holds. It cannot be relied upon though to return them. More often than not, those items continue to show up in my Kindle unless I go into my Amazon account and return them through there. It’s not a huge deal, but I typically have my limit of books checked out and am eager to get new ones. I also want others to have their turn as quickly as possible! Ideally, it would also be nice if you could see how many people are waiting on a hold ahead of you—like at the full website!
Too short time period to finish 2/5
Two weeks is not enough time to listen to a 40 plus hour book. You lose your place and forget where you were before it comes off hold. Better than nothing but not much.
A great app for the library patrons 5/5
The features I love? Clearly displays when loaned materials are due, a very easy to understand hold summary with a numerical break down of copies, existing holds, my priority and the most needed feature for any library request service (when can I expect it). Also the ability to checkout to my kindle with little hoop jumping and a great interface (if not better interface than Amazon’s) for reading.
Love Libby 5/5
Best app ever. I’ve returned to reading because of Libby.
