Listening speeds, playback, seeking forward, bookmarking, etc is all there. The confusing pieces are holds, tags, availability, history, etc.

I’m a self proclaimed bookworm and proud of it. I use kindle unlimited, Overdrive, hoopla, Goodreads, audible etc. This app is such a disappointment and difficult to navigate!! Cute graphics is it’s only claim to fame ☹️

Despite my devices being connected, there is often a network error on this app which affects loading of content. And regardless of the parameters I enter, when searching for new titles, there seems to be a heavy bias that is definitely not my preference.

I love this app. You can get books sent to your kindle, or read them on the app itself. I mostly use it to check audiobooks out of my county and city libraries. It’s all free, works great, and it’s all free.

I use Libby almost every day to listen to audiobooks borrowed for free from my two connected public library accounts. If my libraries don’t have a title I want or if I love a particular title, I’ll download it on Audible and/or buy it in print. I usually listen at 2.0x-2.5x speed, but Libby allows up to 3.0x. After several years and hundreds of audiobooks, Libby is definitely one of my favorite apps.

guys all u need is a library card and the libby app and then u can read like any book for free on ur phone or whatever other device u use. no ads. e-books and audiobooks. skip-the-line loans. it's free. seriously why would u pay audible or another e-book/audiobook app to allow u access to books when u can get them for free on libby. i don't get it. oh and also while ur here support ur local library too!!

I don’t mind waiting for books if they are on the best seller list. Books are easy to download to my Kindle. I love the fact that I don’t have to run to and from the library. All in all, a wonderful experience from start to finish.

I only use Libby because Overdrive no longer works. And my only real issue with it is that they don’t send email notifications, but I didn’t realize that and I’ve missed several available loans and holds because I’m not getting these notifications. App notifications do not replace email notifications when the device I use isn’t used or checked on a regular basis.

Like many other library patrons, I have been forced to switch from Overdrive to Libby. I downloaded Libby quite some time ago and found it very hard to use, so I switched back. Overdrive was simple and intuitive. I struggle figuring out how to even borrow a book with Libby. Figuring out how to save books into a wish list is infuriating. I'm not sure what suggestions to make – except give my feedback. Libby is difficult to use, unintuitive, and is one of the least user-friendly apps I've ever been forced to use. I love libraries. I love books. But this app does a disservice to both.

Really wish I could have just kept Overdrive which works perfectly fine and is so much more simple and much easier to navigate. Fancy doesn’t mean better. So incredibly annoying to be forced to switch apps when I am perfectly happy with what I already have.

{updated -again- 3/23/23. 4th update/review.
Used more often than my two Audible accounts (for which I PAY a monthly fee).
I now have acquired access to 14 library cards allowing me the joy of many FREE audiobooks, ebooks and magazines.
The updates have been so fabulous! Beyond my expectations! I’m sure I haven’t found all the benefits of the app yet.
My favorite features still is being able to use the bookmark and then set a (sleep) timer (even if I’m not sleeping -sometimes I need to do other things and this helps keep me on task!). But this feature is especially helpful because I almost always go to sleep listening to an audiobook. When waking I only have to go back to my last bookmark and scroll forward 15-30 mins (depending on how long I set my timer) to find where I last listened. Previous I was left scrolling and scrolling sometimes through hours of a book!
My other favorite feature is being able to speed up the narration! You can also slow it down. Not sure who might need that but it’s there. They’ve adjusted it so now you can increase in smaller increments. 1.05x’s, 1.10 etc (used to just be 1.0, 1.25, 1.5, 2.0 and so on). I find 1.25 is often too fast but 1.05 or 1.10 is great! Speeds it up just enough for those books where the narration is soooo slooowww but speeding it too much significantly changes the voices.
[THEY HAVE DONE THIS!!] I do wish they’d add more sorting options for borrowed books on my shelf. Possibly being able to sort by my most recently opened/accessed books.
Also, I have not yet been able to access any pdf files that accompany some audiobooks. I’m not sure if that is an available option and I’ve just not been able to figure it out or if it’s just not an option. I am able to do so when I purchase books through Audible. Sometimes the author or narrator will mention at the beginning of the audiobook that the accompanying materials are available on the publisher’s website and list the web address.
The most common/annoying problem I have is the app often hangs when going back to a bookmark and I have to close/force quit the app and restart. As of 3/23/23 this is STILL an ongoing issue!!
Still I adore this app and would absolutely pay for it! Thank you so much for your continued work!
