I understand that it is in Apple's best interest to do things that force people to buy new devices. I think it's a dishonest business practice, but I understand Apple is in the business of making money and crippling my device is one way they can force me to buy a new one.
I don't understand the church playing along with that game, though. By making the church apps compatible with only the latest devices, I am forced to either shell out an irresponsible amount of money for the latest, greatest shiny thing, or go back to paper.
For now I'm using paper manuals, texting numbers to other members of the presidency so they can enter my numbers in the quarterly report, and asking the clerk to print out paper versions of the lists and reports I need. I am grateful everyone is understanding and no one is asking things like, "So when are you going to upgrade so we don't have to do all this work for you?"
I hate the position this has put me in.

It won’t let us change the photos on our accounts anymore. I thought it might have been the file size, or just my device but I have tried on several others and it doesn’t work.
Temple page has continual issues 3/5
The temple page has had problems for weeks. No schedules appear. I deleted the app and reloaded, hoping to resolve the issue. But now the page is worse — completely blank.

Church leadership constantly keeps asking for ward members to upload or update our family and individual photos. Well guess what!? You can’t! It’s been at least 6 months and there is always an error.

The church leaders have taught us to use it up, wear it out. Now you eliminate support for my still useful and able iPhone 5c?!? You allow downloading of a "compatible" version that launches, but can't download ward data. Why do you call it "compatible?" So much for being able to be a thrifty people. I'm very disappointed.
Love the Gospel, HATE THIS APP!!! It never recognizes my password. Needs to sync constantly- let me just stay logged in for crying out loud. Won’t let my kids have their own accts on my phone number or it gets all jacked up. It’s an absolute nightmare to remember your password and even when it’s correct or you updated it IT STILL WONT RECOGNIZE IT. Of all the apps I have this one makes me the most frustrated!
Fix the &$&!? app!!! 1/5
This is a piece of crap. Sorry, but it is true. After it locked up and refused to let me log in, I deleted the app and reinstalled it. Now, it refuses to download and install. I’ve rebooted my phone, deleted and reinstalled the app. Nothing.

This app has been a lifesaver so many times for helping me stay in touch with my ward or fulfill callings! This year however it has been very hit and miss as to whether I can use it. Between mandatory syncs that freeze up, but still lock me out of my contacts until they are done, error messages when trying to contact support, and intermittent issues with biometrics for login, I never know if I’ll be able to use it or not. I appreciate the new features over the last few years, but can we please go back to basics and make the app reliable again before anything else?

App is decent, but could definitely be more user friendly. Also, my house is never marked correctly on the map. I have adjusted my location several times, but it doesn’t stay where it belongs. Ward members have gotten lost coming to my home.

Stopped working on my iPhone and iPad - not sure if it is related but it happened after completing the youth protection training. After logging in I always get a "down for maintenance" message

Pictures won’t update 2/5
I cannot update my photo or my household photo. They fit the guidelines so I know it’s not that. It just gives me an error. I have been trying for several months with no success. My SIL just tried it too and got the same error.
Not showing temple info and action lists 2/5
This app used to be awesome, not any more!!! I used to have the temple info access and action and interview lists and they vanished and I emailed someone for support and they said they are working on a fix for that and there was a new update this morning and it solved nothing, and now I can’t even sync anymore...
Can’t log in 3/5
I can’t log in I’ve tried changing and updating the password 10x can’t use tools don’t have anyone in the wards info. Can’t do youth protection. It’s not operator error.
Sign in no longer works 1/5
When the app works, it’s decent overall. But I routinely run into problems signing in. I know my username and password are correct, but the app tells me my sign in attempt has failed because one of those items is incorrect. Yet I can log in on the website just fine. Until this is corrected, the app is useless to me.

For the last 2 months, all I’ve been able to do is log into the app. It won’t let me sync, won’t let me update or remove our household profile picture. Whatever you’ve done to the app, revert it to a previous version that WORKED.
Honestly, I’ve never used an app with so many bugs. Almost every time I use try to do something simple such as log in or change my photo it tells me to “try again later” which is incredibly frustrating as the ward clerk who needs to use it way more than most.

Would love to be able to update my profile picture. Or do numerous other things that only those over me can do (like update where I live). Overall, this app needs some work.

When I go to find out when the Auxiliary training is or stake conference is I have to swipe and swipe and swipe to try to find it. Would be really nice to be able to search in the app. Thank you!

Difficult for the Elderly 3/5
The controls at the bottom are extremely difficult to use for my 92 year old father-in-law. Too small. Consideration needs to be given for poor eyesight and motor control. He relies on Member Tools as a member of the Elders Quorum Presidency, but it’s just too difficult to navigate compared to older versions. Having been required to update due to the fact that his version was no longer supported, he is now left with an app he struggles with. The same issue applies to LDS Library! Thanks.

Signing in is the worst 1/5
I always need to sign in with my password even when I use the biometric login. Now, I can’t even sign in. I can login on a web browser. The app just says that I have an incorrect password and username which is not the case.

Works fine with the exception of trying to upload photos. Each time I try to update a photo it cancels out and states try again later. Please fix or I am just going to start deleting stuff.... ps. I’m the ward clerk. Can’t even upload in my home computer or church computer so it’s on your end.

I love this app so much! One thing I wish it had, or wish that there was an app for is being able to pay tithing through it. I know I can pay tithing online through the website, but it takes too long.

There have been many that have commented on the failure of LDS Tools to support older versions of IOS on their devices. Since this app decided to only support IOS 11 or higher many of us are no longer able to access this app. Evidently it is fairly simple to continue to program for and support older IOS versions when new versions are launched. My question is why this has not been done. Does the app programmers read and respond to these reviews?

Good idea, but used dishonestly 1/5
This app seems like a decent enough idea in theory, but in practice it’s caused me a lot of grief. See, I haven’t been involved with the Mormon church in several years, but since the local membership and clergy has full access to my contact information (which I can’t seem to erase myself) I still get frequent contact from local leaders and members. I have no ill-will toward the local members in my area, but frankly they’re wasting their time with me. I’m not interested in going back to their church.
Please, please update this with an option to either hide or erase my information so that the local members can focus on people who are actively interested in being involved.
I have not used this in about a year, I had to change my email, and phone number, and I cannot find a way to update this information.

I guess my iPad has become obsolete and I can no longer sign in. Pity when my iPad works with so many other apps and is still in great condition. We should be able to still use an older version 😡
So why is this church app not backwards compatible but gospel library is? I can still donate online but I am expected to throw away hundreds of dollars worth of electronics with a brighter display and longer battery life just because the programmers of this app aren't as resourceful as those who work on the library app?

There’s a lot of problems with this app, but right now I’m mostly annoyed because I can’t change my photo. Every time I try to upload a new photo it says the upload fails and I know it’s not a WiFi or cellular data problem. My roommate says this happens to her too. Just please fix this bug soon thanks.

I've been using this app almost daily for several years and really depended on it. However, it's no longer compatible with my iPad. I can't tell you how disappointed I am to lose this very important resource. Apparently there's no recourse other than to buy a new computer. $$$$

Bugs Galore 2/5
Can’t update personal information such as phone number, address, email, or photo. It tries endlessly but always comes up with a message saying that it failed for whatever reason.

I’m appalled at how badly this app is set up. The security is unnecessarily tight, to the point of asking for the password even if you minimize the app, which can delete your work. Emailing organizations doesn’t work as the Send button is inexplicably frayed out. The pictures for members phase in and out of display unless you go all the way into individual pictures to refresh them.
To whomever is managing this app, please take some time to redo the way the app handles basic things like syncing and displaying information, because much more basic apps can do it just fine.

Please help me to fix the uploading pictures. I’m helping everyone in my ward with the pics. For some weird reason when I’m uploading pics in people in the ward a message pop up satins that’s unable to do it. I love this app!! Please help me out fixing That problem with iOS 12.4. Thanks

App no longer works for older devices 1/5
According to church app support, this app no longer works per new Apple protocols unless you have iOS 11 and higher. Nothing can be done. Older iOS will no longer work. They church app support suggestion is to do the online internet search to find the info needed. I can't update my OS because will lose access to 9 apps I paid for that no longer exists that I use weekly if not daily. Wish I had known about losing member tool access with the latest syn before hand. Would have saved important member contact info into contact app before hand. Just wanted to warn others that you may lose the app if you do the next syn, and sooner or later, all will have to syn. Older devices are being left behind as the church moves forward.

I have NEVER had this many problems trying to log in to an app. I created my account but it never lets me in. I’m tired of creating new passwords and re-downloading the app. You’ve got to be kidding!!!

PLEASE STOP SHUTTING DOWN THESE APPS ON IOS 9!
Of note are Gospel Library and Member Tools (formerly LDS Tools). Something has happened at headquarters and these apps are no longer able to function on iOS 9. That means some of us are CRIPPLED unless we’re ready to shell out for new iPads and iPhones.
My iPad 2 is one of my favorite devices and I am more than displeased that (a) I can not download CONFERENCE TALKS in iOS 9, and (b) Member Tools just plain don’t work anymore on iOS 9.
No backward compatibility with a 3 year old iOS. 1 star! 1/5
All right, 2-1/2 months of waiting for "LDS.org" to come back on line, just to re-sync and even open LDS Tools indicates to me that somebody on your end "broke it" for older equipment. I am financially not able to play the "upgrade game". 1 star for breaking it, one star for doing nothing about it despite the months of other reviewers with the same problem.

This app no longer works with my iPad2. It's just not right that no accommodation was made for IOS 9.5.2. When I try to sync, the message says "this app is not compatible with this device". Please fix this. I'm sure I'm not the only one with this problem. We shouldn't have to buy a later model when our current one works fine.
