Easy and Fun 5/5
More fun than I expected and I love seeing/hearing people speak the words
Very quick and easy. 5/5
Good for beginners because it doesn’t assume you know it already.
Great app 4/5
This is a good free app to learn a new language, the only complaint that I have is that too many add for being a member pop up
Awesome app 5/5
By Gigi meme cc
すごい!!! I’m ACTUALLY learning! 5/5
The recent updates (7/17/18) are bomb btw- it makes the app that much more sophisticated and easy to use
It’s not free, but at $9 a month its worth it. With casual play I can truly say that I’ve actually been learning a decent amount of Japanese
Wow- I’m just so amazed- after about a month of messing around with this app I went premium and only do about 15-20min 3x a week (rarely more and sometimes even less).
Its been about 4 months and I don’t know a lot but I continuously surprise myself when I end up whipping out a sentence or actually end up
reading a sentence/word in a raw manga or off a package at a grocery store without actively thinking about the characters!
I’m not one to be easily excited but when you hear yourself speak another language and you’re not even thinking about it- it’s honestly exciting and surprising. The mind is a wonderful work of the conscious and subconscious and this app helps to really get your working memory going.
Japanese is not a natural language for most people and it doesn’t have much relation to English like Spanish does (not Castilian).
There’s 3 sets of characters- all of which are written differently but have plenty of similarities in sound despite being different in meaning- and despite this added complexity I’m still learning.
It’s been a dream of mine since childhood to learn Japanese- no matter how quickly or fluently it comes- I just want to learn, and I finally am!
I love that self-development apps like this are becoming readily available to so many people for an affordable price. After all, so many of us are tied into so many different obligations and tasks that we hardly take time for ourselves. A few minutes each day for ourselves is almost a pittance, but we have to make an effort to help ourselves- and this app helps you do that. It requires a little bit of responsibility on your part to try and learn, but this app is fairly thorough in it’s deliverance.
It’s a great addition to your daily life if you’re looking to slowly begin exploring a new language. It’s not as grammar intensive like taking classes would be, or as intense as being dunked cold into the language by living in a different country and forcing yourself to learn- it’s a slow, fluid process that comes playfully and easily. The types of tools they provide you is great and very helpful.
Don’t expect to be dishing out a new language in a few months - if you’re a busy bee but play this app often enough and make it a point to use your skills whenever you can in real life, you’ll probably pick up a decent amount of conversational skills within 6-12 months depending on the complexity of the language.
I’m looking forward to learning more.
Japan wasn’t built in a day and I’m not rushing anything- I’m simply enjoying the process.

I am glad because of this wonderful app
I might lose my streak since I don’t know where to end my learning sessions 4/5
I am an active user, currently learning German. Although my knowledge has improved significantly, the app itself is losing its user friendliness. There is a bug where it says that my 30 word workday is completed, yet I did not review anything. Also my ziggy gained a lot of exp which he shouldn’t have. What bothers me is that tomorrow I might lose my streak since I don’t know where to end my learning sessions. Please Fix these bugs.
PS the selection of correct answers is also very glitchy (not very responsive)
Add Persian 3/5

Good I suppose 3/5

I definitely think this is an adequate app for learning a new language. I use it as a stand-alone for learning Chinese due to the fact that Chinese basically has no grammar so vocabulary alone is fairly understandable, and I also use it as a vocabulary app for Latin.
My only complaint is you can’t turn off questions where you have to type the answer, which is incredibly annoying for words with multiple definitions, because you have to remember the order in which they’re written.
Good app 4/5

Amazingly incredible 5/5

Picking it up as if it’s English!!! Or my second Language Creole.
Not free, back to Duolingo 1/5
For a touted free app all over the internet, I got to learn 12 French words for free and then everything was locked up. I liked it before then but now back to Duolingo.
Everything is locked after level 1 1/5
By Cecelie G
There is a paywall after level one, why is that? I don’t mind watching ads or something, but to demand payment after just one lesson is silly.
Works well for me 5/5
By I'msocreativeandoriginal lol
I've been using this app for a while, and I really like it for the most part. It puts new words into nice, categorized lists, which you can check at any time.
It's hard to use it in public if you don't have headphones, because you need to be able to hear the things it tells you, if you want to pass the little quizzes that it does.
It also doesn't really do much to explain things like sentence structure to you. It will sometimes make you piece sentences together, but you'll probably need to use some other resources to gain a more-complete understanding at times. All-in-all though, very nice app.
So far helpful 5/5
It’s got a good setup, so that’s cool. It makes it easy to revise and stuff
Fun so far 4/5
Good app. I really loved MindSnacks. Alas there are so not support IOS. This is a tad slow for me & follows a different method of introducing words vs perhaps the elementary way of beginning with #’s, days of week, simple parts of speech. I’m just beginning, however, and I do recommend this app. I haven’t paid for the pro yet.
After completing the first set of words I could not move on unless I paid the 60 dollars! It is outrageous that I can only learn one set before having to pay. Then when I went into the menu there was a star on everything meaning everything was pro only. Ridiculous
Highly recommend! 5/5
I just started with their Korean course, and so far it’s been a lot of fun and really helpful! They include native speakers speaking the words you learn so you really get used to them and understand how they would sound rather than just a text to speech saying them back to you, like I see in other apps
I’ve just started and I can say it’s a lotta fun!
Awesome app for language learning! 4/5
This app is great. It's my go to for learning foreign languages. Only thing that would make it begeht would be the ability to created courses on the app as well.
Warning-No Icelandic 1/5
I was in the middle of doing the free Icelandic (basic flash card/fill in the blank kind of stuff) when an offer for the pro version pops up. Sounds cool, with all the other types of things it can help with (grammar, talk with a native learner, snap a photo, etc), sure, I’ll buy this. Only AFTER purchase did I find out none of the extra things are offered in Icelandic. Why the heck did MEMRISE offer this to me!?!?!? Grrrr. What a waste of money.
Good app but... 3/5
It’s really helpful at learning languages but I wish there were more free levels. You only have 1 free level and then everything else is blocked unless you pay
This app helps 5/5
I just started memrise and ive been learning a lot of Korean and Japanese Ive mastered 5 words in one day and if you don’t believe me I feel bad for you anyways if you do I’m glad I hope this review persuaded to get the app. :D
IT REALLY WORKS!! 5/5
By Madjai Muntu Asar Re El
All I can say is WOW!!! I learned so much in 2 weeks , I can’t believe it. I use to think I would be impossible to learn a different language especially a tonal language due to the bastered language I speak now.
Didn’t like that you have to pay 2/5
Loved the app until I reached level 2 then it made me pay to be able to continue my learning.
برنامج جيد جدا 5/5
استفدت منه وشكرا لكم
I love it 5/5
By So I can unlock da features
I love Memrise so much. It is easier than Duolingo or Rosetta Stone, and when learning Korean, they teach me useful words instead of all of the alphabet first.
This is the best app ever it helps me a lot and I would love to meet BTS and speak their language and I think they will be surprised, I just want to thank you developer for helping me know all these other languages like Korean,Spanish and more thank you one million more times I appreciate it.
Edit:ok I love this app but, I have to pay to continue and things are getting very confusing if I made an app I would make it for free everything free on it because I want to learn freely I hope you understand thanks you.
-Peace love and
Could Be Better 4/5
I love Memrise. I have been learning Korean and I have learned 178 words. However, after those 178 words I learned it wouldn’t let me learn anymore unless I payed money for the premium. I understand how you are using this for your business and stuff, but this just makes me want to delete the app. Also what about the people who have debts to pay or don’t have money? Memrise although I love this app so much you guys are asking for too much things and sooner or later I might actually delete the app and go back to learning on Duolingo. This is all I’m asking for. Don’t advertise the premium as much when you know how much it costs, and that nobody is going to buy it unless they are crazy rich or are willing to pay.
Sincerely but stressing out, M_Queen (I use this name for personal reasons).
I love it 5/5
I already new some Japanese but this app allows me to learn so much more and in just the few days I’ve had it I can already write and pronounce words thx
I love the way they teach you words and the point your camera at something and it translates it for you is pretty cool
Classic review 1/5
It’s just reviewing the same words over and over on the free trial....
Very useful! 4/5
By leah \(•3•)/
This app is great if you want to learn how to speak any language. I used it to learn just enough Swedish for my upcoming visit and it paid off! I can hold friendly conversations (thank goodness) and I plan to learn more! The one thing I’d have for this app to work on is how it jumps right in to learning words and phrases without having learned the sounds and uses of different letters (e.g. ä, å, ü) but overall it is a useful app and it deserves recognition! Bra jobbat team!
One of the best language apps! 5/5
Memrise is a great app for learning languages and have been using it for years! It is very easy to use and full of courses for many languages!

This app makes learning Spanish a whole lot easier.
Every update has a new glitch 2/5
In addition to one course still not downloading (that is still not fixed), I’m frustrated with another course. I completed this course a LONG time ago but I still like to review the flashcards every day and maintain my streak. Since the previous update, every time I try to review this course (which has 1,000 words), I keep getting the same set of words to review. It’s stuck in some kind of repetitive loop and I can’t review different cards.
The subscription to this app is NOT cheap and with the amount the developers charge, they should be able to fix all these glitches!
I recently updated the app and had to re-download all of the courses I’ve been doing. Unfortunately for one of the courses, every time I try to re-download it, the app crashes. The other courses had no issue downloading.
I’m doing an audio exercise. The English clue is “owner”... all three audio choices say “dueno” in Spanish. Any of them are correct. I chose one and get penalized! This has happened since I last updated the app. Please fix!!!
Dear app developers: In previous versions, I was able to browse through what looked like dozens, if not hundreds, of courses. Now the only ones I can see are the official Memrise courses. What happened to all of the other courses? Please fix.
I have a paid subscription. Twice now, I’ve lost a huge streak because the app did not update to let me know I needed to do my daily learning.
I rely on the orange rocket at the top right corner to tell me if I need to do the day’s lesson or not (I’m doing multiple lessons at once). I lost a 170-day streak, and I just lost another 31-day streak, because the orange rocket did not update at the start of the day, after several minutes of loading & refreshing.
PLEASE FIX! This is very demoralizing & makes me not want to use this app or renew my subscription if this basic function won’t work!
Edit to add: The listening exercises are buggy--all of the choices are the same (the correct answer). The latest update did not fix this.
I've been using this app mostly to improve my Spanish vocabulary & it's great.
1. The app offers a ton of different courses for a wide variety of subject. Navigating all of these different courses can be a bit tedious, but the selection is impressive.
2. Even if you don't pay for the additional features in the pro version, the features in the free version are still sufficient for everyday studying.
3. The app providing its own keyboard for typing answers is helpful in answering in Spanish, without the need to switch your keyboard's language, when you have to use a vowel with an accent or a tilda over the letter N. (Duolingo doesn't provide this & that app is always scolding me for such typos.)
One request for the developers: Please make the Daily Goal section more easily accessible & clarify what satisfies the minimum for the Daily Goal. For example, REVIEWING words won't satisfy the Daily Goal, only LEARNING words. Sometimes I can't remember if I studied for that day or not (despite the reminders) & not being able to check the Daily Goal whenever I want makes it harder to figure that out.
Thank you!! 5/5
I have literally not found one app for European Portuguese—thank you for remembering non Brazilian speakers!!
This app is perfect! I enjoy it ٩(๑òωó๑)۶
I’m on day one and I feel like Korean was my first language! Goma woyo, Memrise-Oppa!!!! ❤️
Beats duo lingo 5/5
Trying out Spanish on both apps and the video lessons on Memrise is blowing my mind. I can hear the word now when i read it. Officially addicted.
I used to use this a year or two ago and every new word learning was free. To find out now that I have to pay is really wrong. These people are getting greedy and what they changed to is wrong.
Problem two: even with that I am forced to review the basic vocabulary over and over.
I have it mastered yet they claim more review is necessary.
I used to love this app, now it is just full of crap
Great app 3/5
By Michael Arnone
The app does not let me go beyond the first lesson without paying some amount of money. Although the app is wonderfully designed, only letting me do the first unit is not enough to make me want to buy it. Having a pay wall so early into the application is a major deterrence. Please fix this!
Latest update broke the free version 2/5

The most recent update locks you out from learning anything new unless you pay for the subscription.

Day count and daily goal often doesn’t work in app 4/5
By Olga Sharapva
I’m learning Italian and everything in general works great! But often day coI my feature is shifted back or forward. For example I’m learning in Friday and it shows me Wednesday and it can last for weeks. While on the website all looks fine. Also often if doesn’t show that daily goal is completed although I can see that I did everything for that day according to my set goals.
What happened to the user created courses? 3/5
I used to love this app. But now that I can only access courses with “pro” features — and those are simply too easy.
Bring back the user created stuff!
Very easy app for learning languages and great goal system.
