Issues loading Word of The Day 4/5
The first three Words of The Day never load (error: “nothing to see here. You need network access to see The Word of The Day”) The forth word and so on load just fine. The widget is the only way I can view the current Word of The Day. Everything else seems to work just as expected.

THIS. APP. IS. AMAZING! Perfect for students, authors, or anything that involves writing. It’s so easy to look up definitions, synonyms, and/or antonyms. LOVE THIS APP! Highly recommend.
My Favorite 5/5
I have used this app for ages and just like the website, I have found invaluable. It reflects the conscientious nature of Merriam-Webster, in that it is well organized, intuitive, and full featured without being cluttered.
I do miss the videos from the editors, which is still available on the website.
Loved it until... 3/5
Great app for game play. Easy to quickly find words. But when I got challenged on a few words I knew to be good my opinion went down. Granted heptode and pentode are somewhat technical but it’s the hard word we need help with. I’m also questioning the inclusion of RE prefixed words. No RETILL amongst others.
Uninstalling and trying something else. 🙁
Essential tool 5/5
I love this app and use it all the time. It is a must for use on my iPad. So much easier than grabbing a dictionary!
Word of the day 4/5
I really enjoy the word of the day.
Worst pop up ads ever! 1/5
By Project Teacher
Sadly, this great dictionary is ruined by one of the worst implementations of ads I have ever seen. They pop up on full screen and provide no way of getting rid of them. Merriam-Webster is destroying their long strong reputation
No internet, no problem 5/5
I often find myself in areas with no signal. Even when I do, getting the definition of a word is not a problem. It’s quick, easy, and has a couple extra features on top of that like a history of the words you’ve searched on a quick list and word of the day. But the best part is not needing the internet to look up words. Very convenient when reading a book and needing to look up a word. Still works even if you didn’t pay your phone bill.

I like the thesaurus too.

It hurts my soul that this app now has so many advertisements.
Works as intended with a word of the day, can’t get much better than that
Good App 4/5
Easy and efficient to use but the ads are really annoying and hard to click out of
Does what it’s supposed to do.

Mixed feelings 3/5
I’m an avid user of your app, but I can’t turn a blind eye on the irregularity of notifications. One given day, I see a banner reminding me about the word of the day. Then, this is perhaps off for a week or even more, and it has to be me the one that must open the app and retrieve the word. I can do it, but your notifications service is hands down awful. Please fix it

This app is so useful. I appreciate the pronunciation hints and the notes of origins of words. And that I can share it with my family!

Perfect App!! 5/5
Loving this app! Extremely helpful when writing reports. Thank you
Very Handy 5/5
Very handy to have on my phone
So many pop ups 2/5
What on earth have you done to this app? Every time I open it I’m redirected 3 or 4 times to the iTunes Store to open a different app you’re promoting. That’s 1. Super annoying and 2. means the app is borderline unusable. If I find a different dictionary app, I’ll switch.
I can zip from one word to the word I just said and back again. Great learning tool.
Audio doesn’t work 3/5
Love the app but the audio for the words don’t work as intended, often cutting off or not playing at all. Hope it gets fixed in the next update.

I LOVE words! I can’t really explain the attraction, just inborn I guess. Love to read, addicted to Words with Friends, and M-W has come in handy more times than I can count. There is a seduction that unusual or olden words hold for me and always a divine friendship formed when I have mastered their meanings and usage. The advantage to having
M-W is that in addition to defining the word, it speaks its name to me.

No sound 1/5
By Arwen Darren
I've used the app for a year and it’s perfect. But after I updated to ios11 last month there’s a persistent audio problem. No sound for pronunciation after 1-2 words! I sent feedback to the app developer a month ago but the problem is still not fixed! I have to give you one star to draw your attention! App developers, look here and fix the problem! Many thanks in advance!
Awesome App 5/5
Love this app! I use the dictionary constantly. Very useful!

I’ve always loved words and how they can be unbiased-honest 5/5
I’ve always loved words and how they can be un-bias and honest in nature. I’ve always enjoyed the dictionaries of old and new which I find are most important in all aspects of life for the future generations and for A better outlook for tomorrow.
Audio bug 1/5
The audio frequently doesn’t work. My 7 year old uses this to look up words in books that he doesn’t know. Needless to say this is a source of incredible frustration. Will be looking for another dictionary app.
The new thesaurus is a powerful tool to help select a more precise word to convey my thought.
I CAN’T REMEMBER ..let’s see, no I don’t think so.. 5/5
Retired twice, over educated and I out type my brain. Spelling words and leaving out entire phrases, are a result of my memory, let’s see, how do you spell laps? NO THAT AIN’ T IT. No it’s behind the it. NO, did I spell ain’t wright, or. do I use a coma hear, what, two too to manning ohs, what yessiree idiot do see what severe consequences aren’t we doing just Finn find fine. Goter Wright that there time on my hands and yes thank you I am a handsome man.
I can not keep my image in TACK 🦆🌀...WITHOUT THE USE OF THE SECOND MOST IMPORTANT BOOK KNOWN TO MANKIND. WEBSTERS has been a life saver on so many levels. Try opening this wonderful book every day of your life. Read one or more pages, the pages being opened at random locations, or different letters of the alphabet. After you have read and understand each word on that page, place a check mark by the number on the page. Each time you revisit that page for any reason, mark the page with a different color of ink or colored pencil. If you are anything like me you will have a page that looks like you have measles. Analysis is a great way to improve anything. I call it “ self imposed THOUGHTOLOGY.
Webster’s has made it possible to have fun when I write or read. Learning is a journey without end. Have fun in your life’s adventures. Stimulating your mind will help you live a longer and more fulfilling life.
Thanks for my helping me in my long lived journey.

Merriam Webster app is 100% awesomeness. 5/5
This is such a great app to have. I absolutely 100% enjoy it! I use it all the time and it’s SO easy to use! Really convenient!
Too many ads 1/5
Generally, I’m okay with ads because I understand that these people need to get paid but honestly, it was too much. I was searching up words and then suddenly I’m being redirected to the App Store. Again, I’m fine with that. Problem was, each time I attempted to return to the app, I was being redirected to the App Store again! I tried returning to the app many times. It doesn’t help. Please fix!

I love the M-W app! My coworkers and I look up the word of the day and write them on the white board. Without much effort, our vocabulary is expanding every day!
Good one 3/5
App is great however some of the words don’t have audio.
Too many Ads 4/5
I paid to have ads removed but they still pop up. Other than that the app is a great way to look up definitions.
The word games are also great.
Love It! 5/5
I can speak the word & it knows what I’m saying! It’s very advanced & enjoy the word of the day too.
Like it. 5/5
Easy to use. Fast. Good reference.
This product has helped in school and I learned a lot of words like frugal
I don’t have a problem with ads but for some reason my app won’t let me close them. So I’m stuck reloading the application every time an ad pops up.
My Favorite App 5/5
I absolutely love this app and all of its word games!
One of My Handful of “Go-To” apps 5/5
By Pittsboro, NC
I have all too many apps on my iPhone. However, only a handful are responsible for almost all of my overall app-usage. This is one of them!
Great app, buggy audio 4/5
I love using the M-W dictionary app on my iPhone 7. I read a lot, and if I want a definition, it’s a quick look up. However, I’ve noticed that the red speaker icon to have the word pronounced audibly is buggy. This has been an issue across the last few iPhone software updates. When I look up a word in Safari, and choose the page on M-W’s site, the audio always works. It’s only the app that’s problematic, and usually on a word I’ve favorited. And this issue continues to present after uninstalling and reinstalling.
Great tool! I use the App often. I enjoy the utilizing “Word of the Day” My only criticism is the option to hear words pronounced does not always engage when deployed.
