Used to be 5 star 1/5
It has been cutting off the bottom of many scans to the point of being useless. Adobe PDF Scan works. I’ve given feedback but no reply or bug fix yet. Fix it and I’ll change my review.
Used to be a great app 1/5
When I discovered this app 2 yrs ago, I recommended it to everyone. The ability to take pictures of whiteboards, straight and color-corrected, was fantastic. Also the scanning was great. Now in 2 out of 3 scans, the app is unable to recognize the document’s edges. Microsoft, what have you done???
Does what it says at a snails pace! 2/5
You can take pictures of text pages, and convert them into recognition and searchable texts, but only 10 pages at a time, which means if you’ll also spend your time reconstructing pages of texts if your project is 11 or more pages! Awful if you’ve got 100’s if pages of research to do!
App buttons get cut on iPhone XR 2/5
This app is still not compatible with iPhone XR. The buttons on top right get cut making it difficult to edit scans. Please fix this at the earliest. Thanks.
iPhone XR sizing 3/5
This app does not support the XR resolution.
Average scanning app 3/5
From user interface experience: not optimized for my iPhone XR where buttons on upper right corner cannot be accesses as hidden by the screen notch (try for example to rotate a doc, etc.).
Very basic featured and as usual poor sharing options.
It does it’s work perfectly 5/5
I use Lens frequently and it has whatever I need for scanning. It’s quality is as good as a real scanner and I appreciate that, although it doesn’t have few editing options and tools that others have but I don't use them.

You can’t save as pdf files to iCloud 1/5
I have 100 pages that I want to save in one pdf file and save it on iCloud but I can’t
Amazing Photo App. 1/5
USED TO BE 5 STARS AND: Takes photos on angles or of wrinkled paper and straightens out the pic in easy to read flat notes.
NOW 1 STAR AND: Does not straighten, flatten etc. I worked with it for an hour today. And got ZERO usable pages.
Great, but serious obstacles... 3/5
This app was a lifesaver for expense receipts when I first started using it a couple years ago. I still use it, but I have 2 major complaints:
1) Using it on an iPhone, the app does not stay logged into my Microsoft account, so almost every time I scan something, I have to retype my password to send to OneNote or OneDrive
2) Saving as PDF or to files is not easily accessible
The above to problems make me look for a new app every month or so, but it still solves my needs better than others. I love how easily I captures docs for work and home. I just get annoyed at the extra steps I need to take because they can’t solve the login issues
Save as PDF is now Broken 1/5
By Dano the Mano
I saw another reviewer post this and I am here to confirm. I use the Save as PDF feature to my work drive account. Last night I tried uploading 3 different PDF receipts and it was not saving the first receipt and just duplicating that receipt over and over when I tried submitting the others. This is a big issue and that is the sole reason of why/how I use the app. Please help sort this out. It was working FLAWLESSLY before the update.
Save as PDF has been broken for some time with O365 1/5
I love this app...when it works. It hasn’t been working lately, at all. I need to have PDFs of images uploaded directly to my work OneDrive and I am unable to do so. With the latest update (as of 11/27/18) I can’t even get the app to do normal things - the app keeps freezing, and I am still unable to upload to my work OneDrive. Please, please, fix this app. It has such potential but it keeps breaking with every new feature, it seems. I love the direct integration possibilities.
By far the best, quickest scan app out there. 5/5
And I’ve tried many!
Good start, but middle of the pack 3/5
By Tap Fan 99
The integration into Microsoft family is great. But he app is average at best. Is crashes with some regularity. Documents get stuck unable to upload, and when the retry also fails, then just sit there in my files...no way to delete or retry upload. Lacks features to edit docs, add pages, or even save documents to be worked on later. It is ok overall, but needs to catch up to the other much more complete scanner apps available for iOS.
Scans half pages and when click discard ‘Discard All’ is not the best option 1/5
Scans files in half page, and when scanning a series of documents when you want to discard a page it shows Discard All option , so you have to start over. Pathetic !!!
Add integration for Outlook 2/5
Please please please.
It would be really great if the business card scanner could automatically add contacts to Outlook without having to manually go thru OneNote and one at a time open a vCard and add it to Outlook.
So many extra steps! Not helpful for what I was hoping to use this app for... huge stack of business cards to scan and import.
UI not match iPhone XR and iPhone XS Max 1/5
Need update for UI problem.
Great, just needs an update for notch phones 4/5
By indeed, it is so
Love this app and the various UI changes it has undergone. However i just upgraded to an iPhone XR and couldn't find the edit points button, until I realized it was under the notch.
Please fix this and it will again be magical.
This app is just incredible. It saves me so much time, and it never fails.
I have introduced this app to most of my co-workers (the ones I like, anyway) and they all love it too!
Removed several features 2/5
They are forcing onenote down our throats.., even though i don’t use It
Needs general update 2/5
The newest update is horrible, unusable really. I have files stuck in the app, and retry does nothing. Save to gallery closes the app. The next older version was much more stable.
Where is PDF goes? 1/5
Now there is only OneNote left. But users cannot leave PDF.
Please give it BACK!
It won’t sync with my office 365 account 1/5
I try connecting the app to my office 365 account and it won’t login and upload through the account

Immersive Reader is great, but... 3/5
By Liam A.C.
Immersive Reader is a great feature, but the UI is cut by the notch on the iPhone XS Max. Please fix this issue.
Fine app 5/5
Fine, thank u very much
Used to be perfect... 3/5
Office Lens has been one of my favorite apps for a long time. I use it mainly for whiteboard pictures and scan documents and receipts. It worked flawlessly for a long time.
I can’t understand why break something that works great? One of the many updates all of a sudden makes Lens to not auto-detect the correct doc size anymore. 90% of the times it crops it wrong. This used to work perfect everyday. I’ve tried of course with different backgrounds and light conditions and angles so I’m convinced it’s something in the app.
Still a great app but sad to see an app like this to go down from amazing to ok.
Used to be great 1/5
Lowered to 1 star: still having problems with
scans being cut off. This used to be a great app but now doesn't meet my needs. Looking for alternative.
Previous review: I've suggested this app to others in the past but since an update I'm less likely to recommend.
It consistently cuts off and doesn't capture my entire document. I have to try multiple times to capture a complete doc and I do this every week. It used to be simple. Now its just a frustration.
error !! i cannot upload server to ocr 1/5
i cannot pictures upload to server to ocr
plz fast fix
It is powerful and does exactly what you expect it to do. I can’t think of a single improvement.
Not what it used to be 3/5
This has been my go-to app for some time now, and I ever since I began using it, I became a huge fan and have gotten many friends and colleagues hooked on this app.
It used to be a 5-star app, but over the past few months it has become hit or miss on scanning documents. When in document scan mode, you visually see it detect all the edges properly; however, when you snap the image oftentimes it now cuts off a significant portion! What gives? I have deleted and reloaded the app, updated iOS, reviewed all settings, and it continues to happen.
Previously this worked like magic. I didn't have to be careful of the angle or anything. I could quickly scan any document without fuss and it worked all the time. Sadly it's now less than 50/50 on capturing the entire document (despite it showing the correct edges onscreen). I am truly sad.
Cannot handle Impressionism/Pointillism 2/5
Several museums, multiple failures. Can’t render fine brushstrokes or subtle detail of many impressionist paintings (driven crazy by Monet) taken at museums where it’s allowed. Pointillism will come out looking like random clusters of dots separated by big white areas. End up using the regular camera for these. Works fine for others, although the colors tend to look too bright and more exaggeratedly gaudy than in reality. Do not like how it cuts off parts of picture frames willy nilly. If there are more than one flyers posted, it can’t seem to allow you to pick just one to image. Gets confused. This app is nice when it works, but it could use a lot of refinement.
Does not function for B cards 1/5
I found the app completely unworkable for business cards transferring to OneNote. This is just a complete waste of time.
Where the Heck is Local Storage? 5/5
By George man22
Update: As promised, I’m updating to 5 stars since magically the ability to delete local scans mysteriously appeared. Thank you.
I like this app. But please tell me what I’m missing, since these questions appear simple and I could not find the answers anywhere.
I save scans to pdf and specify iPhone local storage. Then I send to Dropbox. When I’m done, there does not appear to be a way to delete the PDFs in the app, short of deleting the app and reinstalling. Yes - I tried holding, and swiping every which way. As for where on the iPhone these scans are stored locally, no one seems to know. I’ve looked in Photos, Files and every other location and can’t find where they are stored. This seems a simple question, but Googling this I find others are similarly frustrated.
Am I missing some obvious usage paradigm? I’d give this five stars if I could just delete scans from the app.
So NOT perfect 1/5
Using an iPhone X on a whiteboard wall, I can almost never get a usable image. Didn’t pick up most of our red text, and does little more than make a photo appear on a white background. No idea how this app has such a high rating, but almost useless for me.
It works well. 5/5
By It's me, Ben!
I use it a lot for scanning documents and turning them into pdf. It’s great. However, it would’ve been great if the “whiteboard” option could make the background really white.
I’ll keep using my old scanner app 2/5
I received a great promo for Lens because I have an office subscription. It made me want to love Lens. But Lens is lacking features that I use all the time when scanning documents. The biggest problem is that it lacks important editing features, such as the ability to change a color document to B/W, and the ability to lighten or darken a document. Second, when I input images from my device (camera roll) into Lens, I must do it one page at a time. I am used to being able to select a number of images at once. (I use that scanner feature frequently to combine PDFs. (I convert the PDFs to images, and then bring the images (PDF pages) into my scanner app and make a new PDF.) Lastly, my old app will capture a page as soon as it detects the edges, without my having to touch the shutter button, but Lens doesn’t. That feature makes it easier to hold the device while scanning and it allows me to scan multiple pages quickly. Lens might offer new functionality for people who want to scan whiteboards. I don’t know and I don’t need that ability. For those of us who deal heavily with documents, Lens needs to step up its game. I can already easily send scans to one note (as an image or a pdf) so switching to Lens would not help me. I will hold off using Lens for now.
Loved it but left it 1/5
Initially I swore by this app and recommended it to friends. Got very tired of the bugs and crashes. Every IOS upgrade brought new woes. Switched to CAMSCANNER and problems are gone. It’s an even more robust tool.
Meh. So ...meh :-( 1/5
I mean this would have been great 5 years ago, but now it is positively amateurish. There are way better scanning applications out there. I’ve used a few. This doesn’t come close to the advanced features available in Scanbot for instance. I mean, if you have the office 365 subscription and you don’t want to pay for anything else I guess it’ll do the job - not very well, but it’s free. If you want quality stuff, look elsewhere.
Come on Microsoft, you can do better than this. Especially for your clients who pay for the 365 service
What happened?! It was great!! 1/5
This app was a life saver when for a whole month intensive course of sight translation from English to Spanish and my prof never gave me a heads up on what text pages to adapt for my print learning disabilities!! I needed to have OCR STAT! Then I was able to easily enlarge the text and spaces between the lines and more!! If it wasn’t down I lost the whole class period of note taking, scribbling in key legal and medical terms that can’t be done with Microsoft nor G translate! Did mention it was a 4 week class vs 16 weeks!?
I went to use it just now, with a text book page of grammar, the Immersive Reading feature distorts the text, and removes bold print of words. PLEASE please help! And I will happily change my stars and review. I am an adult with print and related dyslexia issues.
Works most of the time 2/5
Last week or so it has been cropping off the bottom of my documents. What is shown in the orange box does not end up in the final picture. I have to turn my phone sideways for it to work. Other than that it does the job.
Something went wrong 3/5
This app was my saving grace in school and grad school, allowing me to copy charts from lectures and text books and immediately add it to my notes through the One Drive. Now every time I try to upload an image the app crashes and the image only makes it to the drive 50% of the time.
Great app 5/5
It's very helpful app it deserves 5 stars.
Doesn’t detect edges of standard 8.5 x 11 document 3/5
I don’t know why, but my office lens cuts off the bottom of any 8.5 x 11 paper that I scan. Doesn’t seem to matter how much text is on the page, the bottom is always cut off. Sometimes just a small part, sometimes half of the page! Quite useless when I does that.
Add the MyFiles folder to the Files app 5/5

Office lens 1/5
This used to be a very good app but recently does not sync with one drive
The annotation feature or the inking tool doesn’t appear anywhere on the screen once the picture has been captured.
Great and a very useful handy app during class lectures.
Grate app that deserve 5 stars , but... 4/5
By Omaer alt1
Previously the app use to give directions to capture the photo correctly , but now the app stoped doing that
This teacher is so useful for the visually impaired people . I hope you will get it back
