    By Colby and the Bear
Major disappointment that Office 365 Excel does not have a version for iPad OS that allows macros.
  • Glad it exists; wish better; slow sync 1/5

    By Krazy Glue
I am glad that Microsoft has an iPhone app that allows me to edit office documents, e.g. PowerPoint, on my phone. However, I wish it was better. I can only tolerate it for “emergency“ edits, or possibly small edits while I am waiting for something like a meal at a restaurant. It is not a pleasant experience. Apart from it’s great slowness, one of my biggest complaints is synchronization problems for documents stored on Microsoft one drive. I frequently have to wait 15 to 30 minutes before I can see a document edited on my phone on my PC, or vice versa. Worst, unfortunately often I get synchronization errors and just play lose stuff. Microsoft OneNote is perhaps the worst offender in this regard, but I have had it happen with PowerPoint. The PowerPoint app on the iPhone as a reasonable UI. The Microsoft Word app on the iPhone is probably the best UI. The Microsoft excel UI on the iPhone leaves much to be desired. So much screen space is wasted if you do things like grouping columns that there’s no room left to actually see your data. The Microsoft OneNote app on the iPhone has a fairly good user interface, limited but sufficient for much work. However, the aforementioned synchronization problems are a pain. I managed to use it on an almost daily basis, but mostly by dedicating different OneNote notebooks and sections to PC and iPhone, and later merging the two so that iPhone pages get merged into my main notebooks on my PC. This is an annoying extra step, or several extra steps, and often involves waiting hours until you’re sure thatThe synchronization has happened.
  • Not worth the money 2/5

My number one complaint with Microsoft is that when you purchase computer it is useless until you purchase a productivity bundle like Office. That’s the main reason you buy a computer especially if you’re using it for school or college. In some cases you get an Office software license bundled with college fees. This is the only reason I’m using it is to avoid small formatting issues that sometimes occur while using other word processors that export Word .docx format. One frustrating thing about Office for IOS is that you’re paying for an Office bundle that is missing a lot of features compared to the PC version of Office. This is frustrating if you are using an iPad Pro, or iPad that has as much more processing power compared to a mid and upper range laptop. The help center is virtually useless and provides instructions related to outdated versions of the PC Office interface instead of IOS. It just uses a browser search. The application can fail to work if you have a spotty internet connection. Why waste space on a device if it acts as a cloud service? The concept of having a program on your device is so that it can be used when there is no internet or poor internet connection. Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google slides can be installed as an application and used offline for free. They also generate files in Office format. If you plan on using an “Office” style bundle especially for Apple IOS, stick to Pages, Numbers, and Keynote. The advantages of these applications is that they are included on all Apple devices free of charge. They can open and view the common Office file formats. Apple also provides clear updated e-book manuals with Apple’s “Books” application free of charge. The Apple productivity bundle has more features for IOS as well. Microsoft does not provide any of these services when paying for a monthly license. If you need to read or edit an occasional Word document or Excel file just use Apple or Google productivity applications.
  • Install process for iPad is crap 1/5

    By Davidwp
On my iPad, gen 8, In my M365 business account, which I administer, I download the install and when it is done I double click and it just goes to a preview screen. I’ve done this 4 times and now must wait for another service call. I didn’t want to devote my life to this process, but here I am.

One day ago, I can’t open my documents in Word and Excel. It keeps on asking to sign in and asking the password on my Office 365 account. No matter how I tried to enter my password which is of course correct, it goes back to signing in page. It also says sometimes that the file may be opened or locked which is not since there’s no open devices aside from my iphone. Fix it please.

Using Word on an iPhone has been very problematic recently. Sept 2022. It doesn’t seem to like working in mobile mode. Furthermore it no longer opens directly into the edit mode. It’s difficult to see how to make that happen anymore as the switch is on but the application appears to ignore that.

App will not work most of the time. When it did work I had multiple assignments and professor emails in office. The app didn’t start up one day and I thought well it will work tomorrow.well it did work but it deleted all of my data. All my school work I worked on for over 3 weeks was gone and the tech wouldn’t let me start it all over. So thanks to this piss poor app I lost my financial aid.

  • Mobile mode on a mobile device should work 2/5

    By Rsadiej
Generally love word, but the fact that the keyboard hides what you’re writing as soon as you get to the bottom of the page so that you have to continuously scroll? Annoying. Literally any other app scrolls so this doesn’t happen. Print view in word doesn’t do this, but like the title says, mobile view on a mobile device should really work better than this. And when I googled it to see if it was some weird setting on my phone, all the answers were for a computer, and were just someone going I don’t see why you’d want this. Every other app figured it out. It’s obvious.
  • Amazing Life, 1932 to 2022! 5/5

    By jcb & Brutus
I was born in 1932. Telephones were just being improved to using a dial system from needing live operators to “patch” calls on a switchboard! Now we hold a small, light weight device in our hand that can do nearly all the things that we needed many devices to do just fifteen to twenty years ago. We literally can do most everything except grow food, travel physically and build things. In 1932 was there was a person in the world that could envision what we have in 2022?

  • Scribble Enabled = Five Stars 5/5

    By Vezeran
Edit 08/30/22: Scribble is here!! Instant five stars, as I said! I’m so happy and excited! Thank you for including this amazing feature! I’m one of those writers who likes doing it by hand sometimes, especially when ideas and thoughts are sluggish. This will make writing so much better! Old, four-star review: The only thing I think is really missing from this specific suite is Scribble. I love almost everything about this app. Having all the productivity apps in one easy-to-access spot is amazing and saves me a lot of time! I’m a writer, so MS Word is my stomping ground. I’ve used Word and Excel since before they added the Ribbon, and I’ve touched on a couple others, like PowerPoint, during that time. However, being able to use Scribble is one reason I bought an iPad and Apple Pencil. That it still doesn’t work *two years* after Scribble became a feature on iPadOS devices is disappointing and frustrating. Please add Scribble to MS Word and Excel!
