Orbi voice will not sync with Orbi router. Tech support was not helpful, they just suggested to return the Orbi voice.

I just purchased the new orbi router and satellite, and it works wonders. But, the app completely stopped working, not showing me what’s connected to my router. Netgear need to fix this, because many people are complaining about the app not working properly.

Orbi Arbitrarily Changes Device Names 1/5

I was thrilled with my Orbi for most of the past two years. I have an Orbi RBB50 that continually renames my devices and replaces them with their own. They also change the device type. I’ve attempted numerous times to edit, rename and save with Orbi randomly changing again. Makes it impossible to effectively manage the network.

Just installed my new Orbi with one satellite using the Orbi application and I cannot believe how easy it was! So easy anyone could do it AND finally I am getting the internet speed I have been paying for. I highly recommend!!!
App screenshots are dishonest 2/5
The router seems ok so far, but every scrap of software related to this project is unstable. Oddly enough, every release of the app or firmware seems to get more unstable and user-hostile.
So many rough edges in a system that has been out this long. And the irony is that so many of the problems seem to have been created by netgear itself in pursuit of new revenue streams (I’m looking at you Armor and Circle) while ignoring core functionality, usability and promised features.
And I am still annoyed that the app screenshots in the App Store are not from the actual app. Device management in reality is extremely limited (there’s no such thing as a “PlayStation” icon or a user defied device type) and there are screens showing features that simply do not exist.

The app walked me right through the set up and was very easy to follow.
Started very good but finish bad. After warranty’s expired starts giving slow signal. I cant contact anyone because warranty expired no help at all. I tried reboot and everything nothing works.👎👎👎👎

My orbi was great for the first year. I hardly ever needed to restart it. Right after the warranty expired, it started giving me issues. I have to reboot weekly. The two satellites lose signal at least that often. This causes me to have to reconnect many devices frequently. Very frustrating.

Deploying Orbi Was a nightmare. Ended up paying an offshore group connected to Netgear. Bought their recommendation for security software (Webroot and deleted a paid for Kaspersky). Still don’t know what they did (something to do with hard coding device IPs). I get internet 500/500 up down. Bought it for Ring doorbell and light cam. For what? Ring has a reputation that is way better than Netgear. Won’t buy Netgear again.

Each Orbi version update I hope Netgear changes strategy and allows local network management via the iOS app once more. I continue to be disappointed. As an IT professional, I’m telling you the cloud is not your friend! Netgear has had data breaches before, and in general lots and lots of companies have shown themselves unable to guarantee your data safety. It’s impossible. Those of you who want to expose your network to more risk, great! But those of us who want to mitigate that risk will need to continue to use the local web admin unless Netgear decides to start listening to customers and stop dying on their cloud account hill.

Unlike most apps, when an update is available, the app just completely stops working altogether .... you’re no longer able to login. That’s their way of “notifying” you and letting you know that an update is now available. You’ll have to delete the app and then re-install it to get it working again.... ughhh

The latest update did not fix the device manager problem. I’m tired of updating names and labels just for them to change automatically to something I do t recognize less than 2 minutes later, really frustrating. Please fix, same problem happening within the website (orbilogin.com). Please fix!

On iOS remote management says disconnected was fixed. So thank you for that. but on my computer, at my second home. The biggest complaint is the new $700 AX6000 Wi-Fi mesh system still doesn’t have any real features in the app or management console! No security tab, no parental controls, it’s a hollow shell! It’s still not worth the exorbitant price for such a buggy, featureless app or management console. Although the product works; hence me not giving only 1 Star. The worst part can’t even buy additional satellites to have wired connections in more areas of your house. Significant significant downgrade over they AC models. This product feels like a beta. I appreciate the bug fixes but it’s time to add the missing features.

First issue: why does the app need to take “about 5 minutes” to check for new firmware update? It takes me less then 1 minute to go on netgear site and punching in the model number and see if there is a new firmware. Also you can’t dismiss the screen while it’s doing this check. About 4! Minutes in the app show firmware check error! Thanks for waiting 4 minutes.
Second issue: why does the speed test history gets whipped out every time you update your app? What’s the point of history if you can’t check prior speed tests?
Third issue: why can’t I turn off Wi-Fi for an individual connected device?

Irritating at times 3/5
IThe Orbi is a nice mesh unit but it’s so many inconsistencies that it causes folks to want to give up on it, but we keep trying. Then this app is also irritating, it tells you you have the speed and it has the good or excellent coverage but it should have dead spot monitoring, I should be able to put devices on which ever band I want to etc. There is possibilities I just feel like my Linksys app had way more options but anyway.

I’ve been using Orbi for about a year now.
A couple months ago, I started dropping internet connections wirelessly. WiFi working fine, but no web.
What was occasional is now multiple times a day, and I can’t fix it.
I have the router, and 4 satellites, so fair investment, and I’d prefer to resolve this with a fix.
Any help will be appreciated to get past this, but so far none.
