Doesn’t work 1/5
So we installed iTunes OurPact in our laptop. Couldn’t open OurPact. It kept saying something wrong with iTunes. We uninstalled and reinstalled 3xs. Finally, gave up.
Please stop billing 2/5
By stop billing
The app was good but just didn’t work for our family. It would jumble up apps on our phones. I cancelled but have been charged every month for over a year now despite emails to stop billing.
I got this app to manage my son’s phone time. His first phone then stopped working, it became glitchy and then kept freezing. Many apps stopped working. Ok, I upgraded and got him new one. Everything is great but as soon as I put this app back on his phone same issues as the previous phone. I didn’t think anything of it and went back to have the phone replaced, this time I reinstalled the app right away, and wouldn’t you know it, the phone does the same thing! Once again needed to be replaced! I have not downloaded this app as the tech said that maybe one of his apps was causing the phone issues. Not a single issue with his phone now and I will never use this app again.
I Want to Love It 3/5
In the beginning, I was absolutely thrilled to have this app. My kids call me everyday once they have completed their homework and chores for the day. I require them send me a photo of their tidy rooms and completed homework to restore their access. Lifesaver.
The initial setup was pretty much self explanatory; however, adding the premium paid version has been tedious. This system requires you to install both iTunes and their PACT software, which is very time consuming and personally I don’t want this software on my computer. I spent several hours waiting to backup my devices through iTunes . When the steps were finally completed I was only able to connect 1 out 2 devices to premium.
Unfortunately, the premium app wasn’t worth my freaking time! I don’t think the child should have to pause and play their timer in the PACT Jr . I’m bummed that the timing restrictions function is subpar.
I would totally rate this 5 stars if the premium version didn’t require additional software installation.
Poor Customer Support 1/5
I’ve been trying to get my daughter’s phone set up for days with no success. I’ve contacted support (email is the only option) and the response has not been helpful. At the moment my daughters phone is locked in “restoring device” mode and has been for 2 hours. We can’t turn it off AND we can’t open it to use it. I had such high hopes for this program.
Hard to set up/Not as helpful as I thought 1/5
By DeNeal need help
After I downloaded the app on all e phones, and my computer. I keep getting a message saying that my iTunes need to be updated. Well I updated and installed 5 times.
Works well, a few tweaks would make it great 4/5
We have tried many different screen limit apps for our 13 yr olds iPhone and this one is definitely the best of the ones we’ve tried. The ability to set rules for each individual app Is something we were looking for and things the only one we’ve found that allows that for an iPhone. The set up process for premium was pretty painful but once it is going, it does about 95% of what I want and works very well. A few things I’d love to see:
1. The ability to add extra allowance on a one time basis. I can grant time but if I grant 30 mins, it starts when I grant it and ends 30 mins later. I’d love to be able to add 30 mins to their allowance on the current day as a reward or because of special circumstances that day without changing the set allowance for that day of the week.
2. I would love to be able to see a report of my kids use so we can look at it together. I think kids (and grownups too) vastly underestimate the amount of time they spend on their phones. I would love to have some simple output from this app about the amount of time spent on various apps or even just total time.
3. The gang and block function is a little clunky. It serves its purpose but if I want to “grant until I say so” then how do I “say so”? As near as I can figure, I then have to go in to set a block. And it is not always clear how this will interact with the set schedule. It has taken a bit of trial and error to figure out how to work with these and sometimes my assumptions about how it will operate turn out to be wrong.
What is your call number?
Whhhhhyyyyyy i admit i am probably a little addicted to my phone but come on just tell me to get off or take away my phone she gave me no warning
Block access to WiFi 3/5
Hi, I like the app a lot and have the premium app, but, I would love to block my kids from accessing changes to WiFi, they turn off WiFi before a program activates and so they have access to all apps without WiFi, that way their device can still be used by them even if I block the use of it through Ourpact. Please do something.
This app has good intentions but poor tech support 1/5
By aggrevated Mom
The basic app works for shutting down the blocked times. However, it scrambles your kids apps the next time it releases. I paid for the premium package and have yet been able to install the utility pack in order to have the full functionality of blocking texting and social media for my kids. When I reached out to the tech support, I don’t get to talk to someone live...I get a string of emails with directions .... the same ones over and over that doesn’t help... it has been two months... I am canceling my plan and looking for a new app!
It keeps changing from scheduled mode to unlimited mode. 1/5
I am a paid subscriber. I have set multiple schedules for my two daughters. But everyday the scheduled mode is being changed automatically to “Grant until I say so” mode. So I had to change the mode back to schedule mode and had to check up the app every hour to see if the mode is changed back to the unlimited mode again.
Was an Awesome App🤦🏾♀️ 3/5
I have their phones and iPads set so that they can only make a call or text during the school day and it is set again to limit access to all apps for bedtime. I have total control over their usage. I set time allowances for 2 hours of screen time a day. Once it's gone....it's gone!!!!
Update: 4/19/18 - downgraded rating!
The app rules feature is inconsistent. My kids have added multiple apps recently and they are not showing up in the app rules on the parent app so that I could block or allow them! This is very frustrating!
Good app 5/5
The app is really good the only thing the kids they can unpair the phones by removing from settings
Don’t waste your time or money 1/5
I have paid for the premium version and even recommended this app! When you block your teens phone it will scramble their apps. It is a nightmare. I am already invading my teens phone and now I have to hear them whine about their apps all messed up. I contact the company and they told me to buy the premium. However, they don’t tell you that you have to hook the phone to a computer to set folders but then my teens is unable to move stuff around!!! Son frustrated. I might come back if they find a way to fix this issue.
This app is cancer 1/5
Ourpact is the worst thing that has ever happened to my family. I thought it would help build trust and our relationship, it did just the opposite. We are all constantly fighting over the restrictions and block times and freedom, I wish we never got this. Oh and it’s miserable to install and it rapes your phone, both the parents and child’s device and it’s a pain to fix. I hate you ourpact.
Not off to a great start 2/5
By wish it worked kris
My son and I downloaded the apps, set up the accounts and I immediately blocked his usage to see the effect. We were joking around and he bet he could disable it. I instructed him to try given I had enabled everything. apparently, even when the phone is blocked your child gets a few seconds of internet time. Using his phone (that was blocked) he opened YouTube and searched “how to delete our pact app”. It took him about 5-10 min to finish the video, given the limited internet time, but then he successfully deleted the app. Disappointed.
Not good for teen boys 2/5
By Andrew OGA
My kid’s friend showed my son how to easily disable and then continue using Internet. When i asked tech support about this they said “nothing we can do”. The rep then went on to suggest using this as a way to improve communication with my child and let them know about consequences if they keep disabling this app.
Had to laugh at the reps comments.
Hate how I have to re do all my daughter apps when I lock it, and then unlock it.
Premium version demands back ups in a PC 1/5
We loved the app for just 3 days.
It has all the features that I would like do implement at home.
But all my devices are backed up in iCloud!
I do not want to create an additional back up (or loose all my iCloud info) in my computer just for that!
So I quit this app. Hope they can find a way to have premium subscription without backup up with iTunes
Answering app developer (04/17/18) - great to hear that I do not need to keep the back up, just as a kick off.
Unfortunately my only notebook has not enough storage to do that! I decided to buy a notebook with less hard drive in order to have a SSD technology - it has only 256GB. That’s what a can effort.
Great app; great company 5/5
By Adam from Philly
I researched parent controls for a long time. At first I was reluctant to pay the premium fee for this app, but I bit bullet and signed up. I am so glad I did! All these parent control apps take a while to install, so some patience and free time is necessary; however, once this was on all the family devices, it made our online lives so much easier. I ended up having a bit of trouble with one feature for which I emailed the company at about 5:30 in the morning. WITHIN MINUTES, I received a personalized response guiding me through how to enable the feature I wanted. Overall, I’m very impressed.
Does not work with Apple iPhone 1/5
We have this specifically for my 13 year old’s iPhone. I installed this to monitor his time spent on the phone and to remotely make him take “breaks.” The app disconnects from his phone daily, allowing him access whenever he wants. The app is completely useless.
Works great! However just one issue 3/5
I have loved this app so far. I have the premium version and it is so nice that the phone shuts down and my son can not use the apps when he should be going to bed.
I gave it 3 stars because we have one issue with this, which really is annoying. Every time it shuts the phone down and deletes the apps when it comes back on all the apps are moved to different locations and he has to resign back into everything, which I can totally understand his frustration with that. Unfortunately due to that frustrating issue we are looking into other parental apps that do not do this. We would like one with the features of OurPact but to leave the apps where they are on the phone and make it to where they simply do not work or open during blocked times.
Crashed both parent phones 1/5
I have used this app before with success about a year or two ago, but when when we put back on kid devices and loaded on our new phones crashed both our phones. Literally took Everything off our iPhones including the App Store and Safari. I am not happy with this app and will find something else going forward.
Awesome app but need some fixes on Android 4/5
By Shailesh kaushik
This is indeed an awesome app. And need I say more after all the good words from everyone else below! One issue however that needs to be fixed - my son has an Android Moto phone and is able to go to his guest profile and get onto YouTube. There are other hacks he has such as deleting ourpact jr and I wish ourpact had a solution for those.
Well, you guys brought the hacker out in my son! 😉
Location Services Do Not Work 1/5
I sent an email while on trial and the email was answered right away—immediately actually. The only problem is that the “fixes” were all obvious and all were solutions I had already tried to get Ou Pact’s location services to work. Once I signed up for premium services and sent another ticket to explain that the “fixes” did not work, I received this as a response..........nothing. If this company markets a robust location services and geofencing for your child, then it should actually work. I am not revising my review until I receive a resolution to this feature, which doesn’t work, and I’ll be happy to update my review if I receive remediation.
Update: Beginning on 4/15/18 I will document my attempts to receive tech support for location services feature not working:
4/9/18 Email sent for tech support (no response).
4/9/18 Email sent/New ticket opened for tech support. Snapshots of my phone and computer settings sent to verify I followed their generic “fixes” (no response).
4/16/18 Email sent to follow up on tech support email from 4/1.
4/16/18 Email sent to follow up on open ticket for tech support (never received an auto-reply email or acknowledgement that they are aware of problem and trying to fix it).
***will update when and if I get a response from company***
Not fair 1/5
I understand they want to make money and charge for premium.
Not okay to mess up people’s screens without a very clear warning!
My son had worked for hours to make his apps in the right order and it just messes it up for premium.
Overall good app 4/5
By Apps school
The overall install was kinda a pain and took a while to get each device setup. The software works pretty well. I subscribe to the 6.99 plan but think about changing. Other apps like this offer a better overall pricing package any where from a year to a lifetime time subscription. I would recommend OurPact to consider that because that will likely make my choice for me coming up.
Messes up kids tablets 1/5
This app works by removing the apps that are blocked and putting them back when they’re not. This messes up any organization the kids have. Apps are randomly put back on any screen.
Apps are also “forgetful” when put back. Allow notifications? Allow camera access? Although the apps’ data is not remove, the apps’ setting are rest.
Way too much screwing things up on the kids end. This is unusable.
Incredibly Difficult Confusing Problematic 1/5
The free version is extremely limited in functionality and scrambles all the apps on your child's I phone. The paid version of too expensive, for what it does, requires excessive multi step process, and is an horrific, confusing, hugely time consuming and error ridden process. There are multiple settings your child can simply disable or uninstall to make this useless. Hopefully a competitor will come into this space and develop a superior product.
Love this App! 5/5
The kids come out running out of their rooms .Like who did this to our phns! lol
Early Adopter of OurPact 5/5
I signed up for this when it first was launched. My kids did not like this at all but I’m not their friend, I’m their parent. It’s a great tool when enforcing rules. “Didn’t do your shores, your apps are now gone!” It tells you if they try to remove the app so they better then to try it.
My child can still access apps when block. 1/5
By rell rox res
I thought this app was great but then I noticed my son still on his iphone when he’s suppose to be blocked. He found a loophole. He could still access apps by opening them under recent apps. Big fail guys.
Almost perfect! 4/5
My daughter has an iPhone, and before this app I used Kidslox and always had issues with the app blocking use when it wasn’t supposed to and then, easily, getting deleted. This is great because I can block texting if I want to so my daughter can get some sleep at night. Otherwise, she is texting into the wee hours of the morning. Here are a few suggestions I have:
1) I wish there was a way to block texting only certain contacts during a schedule, that way I can text her anytime. I’m not sure if this idea is too far fetched.
2) Is there a way to separate camera and FaceTime? I would like to block FaceTime at certain hours, but still grant use of the camera (which I can’t do right now). It’s either all or nothing.
3) My kids get annoyed because they forget to press the pause button on their device and think that if they turn off their device, it will, automatically, pause their time limit. However, that is not the case - they must go in the app and pause it first. Is there a way to make it so that if the screen turns off, that it, automatically, pauses?
I love this app because now I feel that my kids devices don’t rule their lives and they’ll do other things besides sitting down and wasting their time all day long. I have a hard time keeping track of how long they’ve been on their devices, so this is a wonderful tool. I give them only so much time to play games per day and I give them unlimited access to apps they can either use for school or that are useful. For the time being, they have unlimited access to texting because I want to make sure I can text them if needed. I wish I found this app sooner.
Might be nice if you could actually pair it 1/5
I paid for a premium account so I could manage apps on my children’s phones. However, the OurPact Utility will not let you progress unless ITunes is “updated”. Apparently, the utility does not recognize when iTunes is updated because it keeps saying to update even after you complete the update. This prevents you from going any further and you can’t actually pair your child’s phone. Waste of money!
Premium version does not work 3/5
We started with the basic package which is wonderful and have attempted And paying for premium however even with the utilities and updating my iTunes I cannot get it to work. I’m a little frustrated.
Love this app even though my kids hate it. The schedule is perfect for school days so they can’t stay up all night on their phone. Only con is they can still use the news app to watch videos. They can type in a link and watch from there. I would suggest putting the news app on block with all the other apps because my kids found a way around it. 🤭brats.
Unhappy kids...happy parent. 4/5
By A Real User
When I first told my kids what I put on their devices they were not happy. I explained that it’s not only to eliminate arguments but to help them learn time management. I also told them they could earn more time by completing chores, reading and practicing musical instrument. Suddenly they stated figuring out ways to earn more time. Then they were acting excited. 😉 I am experimenting on ways to get around the app on their iPads when they are at school, so I’m not sure yet how “kid proof” it is.
The reason for 4 stars and not 5:
-Little complicated to install. It’s not a fast install so make sure you have some time, and make sure the device has plenty of memory. My 12 year old had over 1000 picture and videos on a 64G! (I just deleted the ones she wouldn’t miss.) Once I got it on one device it was easier for the rest.
-Time allowance, there are 2 things
1. Adding extra time is only in 30 minute increments. 5 Minute increments would be more practical. I wouldn’t pay my kids $30 for unloading the dishwasher, so I’m definitely not giving them 30 for minutes for it.
2. Can’t start “time allowance” at a specific time. I want my kids to have access during the day. If they need to call me they need to un-pause, then call me, then re-pause. It’s a pain in the butt.
I would like to see this feature have a designated start time. For example the schedule starts at 7:00 am and goes to 8:00 pm. They get home at 3:30. I would like the 2 hour screen time allowance to start at 3:30. That way they have access to me and I to them all day, but they have limited time in the afternoons when they need to be doing homework etc.
Other than that I am happy so far. My kids aren’t, but they are getting out more and not sitting in front of a screen. They seems to be getting along better, smiling more, wanting spend more time with us and are not so cranky all the time.
Kids do not like this. Just weather the storm and they will settle into it. If not just take their device away all together. I have, and gave them a $30 pre-pay phone to use for emergencies. A day or two of that and they were thrilled to abide by the new rules. All in all, worth every penny. Good luck and God bless parents! We all need it. 😇
Taps Apps out of folders 2/5
Love the concept but when I set the bedtime timer, it removed all the folders the apps were stored in. Extremely frustrating and annoying. We will be researching other avenues.
Killed my daughter’s phone 1/5
Tried downloading OurPact Premium to my kid’s phone and it became a Zombie Phone. Didn’t realize I may be buying a new phone because of this App! Very upset!
The Restore Process (backup) claims it could take several minutes depending on size of backup. My kid’s phone had 7.5 GB’s... hardly any data to back up. After about 3 hours I knew something was wrong. Now my kids phone is non responsive. I’ve emailed their support team.
Limiting the Internet 5/5
By Too Trusting Mom
My brother-in-law found this App for me because my daughter was on the Internet late. Now I can limit her time with the App on my phone. It’s been helping with lights out for bed time.
Best app ever. 5/5
Behavior has never been better around our house. The excuse they need a phone for an emergency has finally come to an end. They can call and text but can’t play games or browse. I’ve been waiting for this. Thank you.
Quirky, expensive, not a substitute for parenting 2/5
Had Ourpact installed on my children’s iPads. It worked great to regulate usage but so does watching and monitoring what they do. One of the biggest problems is what they are doing and Ourpact doesn’t filter that. Example: 1 hour of stupid / mindless YouTube videos vs an educational game.
The app was glitchy in that manual time allowed wasn’t always transferred to their iPad. And scheduled time allowed has to be turned off - so if they use up their one hour a day and forget to turn off the timer it will eat up every subsequent day starting at midnight.
Apps were randomly shuffled despite premium feature which was way too awkward and time consuming to deal with.
The app is also extremely invasive. It puts management software into the iPads operating system by installing it into a back up and then you reinstall (restore) the backup. It just took me 3 hours to remove this from 2 iPads. What else might the software have been doing deep in the operating systems of their iPads?
I canceled the service and deleted the app because it’s too expensive. At $7/month it’s cheaper to set a timer when my children want to go on their iPads. Same goes for iPhone and computer usage. Plus by being more involved I can keep an eye on what they are using their devices for.
Just like anything else there is no substitution for patenting. So don’t think this is the magical nanny app - it’s not. It’s a easy out for being involved in your children’s lives. Like anything else there needs to be limits.
Boundaries Gamified! 5/5
This awesome ‘level up’ concept has drastically made our lives better with our 3 teenagers.
It would be nice to provide a way for our kids to contact us through the app when their other apps and privileges are time blocked.. just an idea.
Leveling up with grades, chores, and good behavior is perfect! This app makes it clear, specific, and instant! Thank you!! Love it!
I can sleep soundly knowing they are not up all night!
I sleep, they sleep.
They do chores, I put my feet up... 😉
Wow read the FAQs first 1/5
Went through install for premium subscription and the installer hung on the iPad. When I went to their website to find some support I ran into a whole bunch of know issues with their product. For example: 1. Your child’s apps will be all shuffled up after the “restore”phase. 2. Your child’s games progress will be erased if the games don’t explicitly use Game Center.
I immediately started the uninstall process. OurPact is not upfront about the install process and what it entails. Very disappointed.
Works great 4/5
Love this app! We have the paid version and love that we can set specific times apps will turn off and on. The only wish I have is that I can turn on one app for a timed amount of time and it would go back on the schedule on its own after the set amount of time. For example, I have all apps blocked at school except phone and text. But my daughter needs to use safari for class sometimes or her camera. I wish I could unblock that specific app for an hour when she texts me saying she needs it and then have it go back to the regularly scheduled allowance after that time is up. Because heaven knows that being the mom of a pre teen and a toddler means I forget to set that app I unblocked back to blocked. Please let this happen!!! Lol
Super Complicated 1/5
By Not re-doing this
Incredibly complicated to set up and after pairing after the premium set up, most of her stuff is gone!!! It has been hours of back and forth between this device and that one and just when you think your done, you have to add another app to hopefully make it work. Ridiculous!
Bugs and Shortcomings Render it Almost Useless 2/5
I was really excited to be able to get this. First, I wanted to be able to put our son's devices (ipad and iPod) on a schedule. Most important, I wanted to be able to be able to limit how late at night he was listening to audio books (or just on his iPod). We have set scheduled when he is allowed but it's a lot easier to have the machine shut off during that time than ensure that he checks the time himself and even I forget the time at night and I'd rather not be going up there every night and nagging him to turn it off--this just makes it a non-issue.
Unfortunately, after working well for about a week, not the app just doesn't block when it is supposed to. It just stays in "Block pending" indefinitely. So eventually I remember it's way past that time (or I forget and find him asleep with a book on). It's not in airplane mode and our internet connection is fine, and it's clearly not asleep. Customer support told me to re-pair the devices, which is time-consuming given that he have ios devices, and kind of a pain. I'll try it, but I'm skeptical and I don't want to have to keep doing this.
The second issue is not a malfunction, but I do wish that they allowed us to distinguish different schedules and time limits for different apps. Some apps I allow only on the weekends, whereas some are allowed during the week (for example, some are require for school). I can't even use the lime limits because some apps I have to allow more time for than others because they are required for school and I can't limit the same way I might limit a game or internet use). It would be nice if it weren't just "all or nothing" when it came to time limits and scheduling because that doesn't reflect real life.
Good use, bad problems 2/5
By the review lover
My daughter and I have only been using this for a short time, but things turned bad fast. A couple of things went wrong right at the start, but some later.
First, they only let you have the apps that are originally on the iPhone. Anything else is gone. There are multiple things wrong with this. What if my daughter needs an app that is not on there. (Which happened) also, my daughter was still able to listen to music. Umm... the point of this app is to get them off their phones.
Second, one night my daughter phone was on Its schedule. When it turned on in the morning, all the apps were out of their folders and scattered around the phone. This happened multiple times and took very long to arrange everything again.
Besides those, the app is good for making more time for homework, family, and other things that don’t involve screens. If the creators would maybe fix these problems, I would rate it better. I do feel bad truly. This app is a good idea, but needs some bug fixes...
Bad app 1/5
By Preston Tate
This app has broken my phone and my iPad. My brothers hate it the app blocks everything.
