I’m unable to connect with my iPhone X.
What’s the solution?
I had the basic pp swiper and it would take 5 or more swipes to read the card. This new chip/tap Bluetooth reader gives me the ability to use the chip which eliminates accidental disputes when the customer forgets they paid with their card. I also get more wow that’s cool comments from my customers with this setup. Only regret is not upgrading from the free swiper months sooner.

Seriously was just told that key features that I find not only easier to use, but critical to my line of business and employees were “Purposely Removed “ by the design team! I agree with all the other card reader Bluetooth issues plus can’t believe why there is a valid business reason to remove the ability to report cash tips! What can you possibly be thinking?!? Time to find better Apple platform developers!!!!!

I’ve been using PayPal for years now and haven’t had many issues. They are security minded to the point of irritation. They have put holds on my money at times. However, they have always resolved any issues that I’ve had, and they are a company that I trust to keep my customers info secure.

I honestly have no idea what these people are talking about that are giving this a poor rating. PayPal as well as the hardware has worked very reliably for us. I guess the only inconsistency that I’ve noticed is that when we change cashiers, and phones, the new phone doesn’t automatically connect to the card reader. I often have to go into Bluetooth, forget the device and rediscover it. Our business is seasonal therefore it’s great that we don’t pay fees on the months that we are not doing business. We may pay a little higher fee than some other services but at years end, we come out ahead.

I have been using PayPal for 10 yrs and 5 yrs as my merchant credit card processor. They have never held money and have always provided great customer service. The only problem I ever had was with the old chip reader with the key pads on it. That device kept failing, but the newest simple chip card readers work fine.

I run a small business in a brick and mortar location and I use my chip reader for every transaction. I can barely get enough cell phone service in my building to check my E-mail but I have never had any connectivity issues with my app or reader. Great product, app, and banking service! I also love paying my bills with my PayPal business card and receiving cash back. What’s not to love?!

I have trouble opening this app with customers standing and waiting to buy books from me. I have deleted and reloaded it multiple times. The card reader is also faulty. While I like the safety of Paypal this is not a product at which they excel. I suggest you stay away. I am a loyal, disappointed Paypal customer.

I updated the app and ever since I have been unable to use my card swiper. I have to manually key in each card. It was working fine prior to the update. I used the swiper on another device and it worked just fine. This is very aggravating and slow!!!!
Exclusionary and hypocritical payment service 1/5
Banning small businesses from marginalized and stigmatized groups on your platform is wrong. You continue to allow large businesses in the same industries service, and those that promote violence against these groups of people and others, and that is acceptable and allowed? Both are acts of violence and protect no one. PayPal is not for all businesses, only whom you deem worthy and choose to give a voice.

Accepting payments, sending invoices and transferring funds all have gone well and quickly with my accounts. I would deduct for customer service due to the difficulty in changing my name that continued for many MONTHS.

I’m not sure what happened but this app has always worked well except for today when I need it the most. It keeps freezing on me and not allowing me to get past the sign in page. I erased and reloaded it and not won’t even let me sign in. This is super frustrating.

I love that I can pull reports and that this is well integrated into PayPal. I wish I could track inventory here as well however!
I’m confused by some of the reviews I’ve read. PayPal has been consistently efficient for me and I get paid on time. Also, their call-in support is amazing.

I don’t mind most of the PayPal apps and functions. I do mind the reader, that wasn’t cheap, being so slow! I have to remove and re-pair the reader EVERY single time I open the PP Here app, or else it doesn’t work. More often than not, I end up using the original triangle reader because it isn’t worth the hassle with the chip reader.

If you’re interested in partnering with a company that allows you to accept credit cards from your customers, then will make you wait and eternity before releasing your money, this is the company for you! I cant understand why anyone would want to use PayPal! So we went through all the set up and started accepting payment from customers on PayPal and what a nightmare! Thank God we only ran two or three customers cards through PayPal! They are holding funds on two of them for up to a month! When we told PayPal we did not want to wait that long and that we would like to refund the customers money, we were told from PayPal that unfortunately the returning funds would come out of our account as the customers funds were tied up in PayPals holding account! What a joke! Obviously at least one of PayPal’s gig’s is making money from interest of people’s (my customers) funds as long as possible, claiming they’re trying to verify transactions that have already been approved on my customers cards!!! I think this should be considered fraud! I would definitely stay away from this company and would not recommend them to anyone!

When I first found PayPal Here, it was a lifesaver and I’ve used it for years. In the last few weeks, however, I can’t even get the login screen to come up. I click on the app, wait for it to load, but the login screen never appears. It’s like it just freezes up. The only way I’ve found around this is by deleting the app off of my phone and downloading it all over again. Once I do that, it seems fine for a few hours, but some days I have to do this twice. This is EXTREMELY frustrating and very inconvenient when it happens with a customer standing there trying to pay. I am using an iPhone XR and everything has been updated. I hope this issue gets resolved soon.

Tipping issue 3/5
I like this app for the most part my only problems, and I feel it’s a huge issue, is tipping.
There should be an option to tip on separate screen before the signature. Customers miss the option to tip when it’s on the signature screen, that’s a huge portion of income that is lost.
Hadn’t used it in over a year. Just plugged the reader into my iphone7plus , logged in to PayPal Here app and worked perfect for my Christmas craft booth. Love it

I’ve been trying to get logged in so I can setup my new card reader. I’ve been run around in circles for the last 30 minutes. I am a computer science grad, in this case it is definitely not user error. Will be sending back this reader and going back to Square.

Cancelled account with no explanation. 1/5
PayPal cancelled my account without any good reason. My account was in good standing. I tried to get PayPal Here and was told I was not qualified, then was told my account was cancelled and no one can tell me why for either. The app is functional, the service overall is not functional.

Cannot process CC’s over the phone 2/5
Not great for remote service calls where the customer gives you their CC number over the phone. You can only use their card reader for processing CCs. Plus, they do not make a card reader that connects directly to the lightning port. Card reader selection is very limited. Come on PayPal, step it up a notch or get left behind!

I love the PayPal here app but I do wish you could select several different variations at once. I also would love to be able to add an order and have it pend until I am ready to take payment in person. So far things have ran smoothly.

I have been using PayPal for over a year now and I am so happy with it. It gives me the flexibility of accepting multiple forms of payment, and it is so fast! I highly recommend it for anyone the is a small business owner! Being in the Electric service industry, Just being able to offer the use of credit and debit cards has increased my ability to do larger jobs immediately, closing higher paying and higher-end jobs.
