App does not load or PDF freezes about 80% of the time. Virtually worthless.
  • Best PDF editor! 5/5

    By Ccreates4u
Open any PDF and it recognizes the text and makes it editable. No other app does this better.
  • BAIT AND SWITCH!!!! 1/5

    By Darkk1ss
I paid for this app before they started this subscription fee system. You would think I would be grandfathered in. Imagine you go buy a car and 6 months after you pay for it they want to start charging you yearly to keep using it. Back when I bought this, they decided that the features they were providing were worth that amount of money and I paid it. At the very least they should have made different levels of subscription and given me a comparable one to when I purchased. Instead I have nothing. I have been reverted to basically an expired trial user. This is robbery and the fact that they would do this to their customers is reprehensible. If you trust your money with these people after reading this, consider yourself warned.

  • A Marvel, An Utter Joy 5/5

    By Ann's Husband, Glen
After a long search—trying any PDF apps that claimed to have certain abilities, it is such a relief to find this gem. It makes BEAUTIFUL, clean PDFs. Functionality and interface are dreamy clear and downright delightful to use. Worth every cent! Also outstanding customer service. Note: Don’t bother with Readdle’s other app, “PDF Converter”; this app is the real deal, covers all bases in stunning fashion. (I deleted PDF Converter.)
  • Crashes when trying to enlarge images embedded in PDFs created buy Acrobat Pro 3/5

    By Hiawatha Scwartz
Otherwise very nice management tools and work well for documents that are mostly text.
  • OCR missing with no timeline 2/5

    By Ftjctujbc
I spent $80 on this app when I began grad school in 2018. Since the app is pretty much flawless, I never requested a refund in hopes your devs would soon complete the missing OCR functionality. It’s frustrating to have to use a sketchy free online OCR tool when I spent good money and live & breathe in your app. What’s the ETA?
  • 2 recommendations to make it perfect 2/5

    1. Faster access (gesture or keyboard shortcut using iPad’s magic keyboard) to table of content. 2. Faster syncing of annotations between macOS and iPadOS
  • Fantastic Support!!! 5/5

    By Kavien88
After the most recent update, I was having trouble viewing my PDFs, so I contacted app support, and less than 30 minutes later I received a helpful reply!
  • Best scanning tool ever 5/5

    By Atromas
I have switched over to using scanner pro because it works flawlessly.
  • PDF pages load so slowly 1/5

    By Artemis0
PDF Expert on both my mac and ipad load pdf pages extremely slowly. The words and images would be blurry for while before being clear and readable. Can you please resolve this issue? It’s frustrating to have to wait every other page while reading an article.

I’ve never left one review but I’m so frustrated with this app it’s time people know what’s going on. First this is a very good app when it works. However, recently when annotating a document all markings disappear using (iOS i-phone, i-pad) as soon as you close the app or save the document. Also, it’s become terribly cumbersome to retrieve saved documents taking literally 3 and 4 minutes to open. Please correct this markings disappearing issue ASAP.
  • Home School 5/5

    By aiserek
During this pandemic we are facing. This app “PDF” has help me tremendously it allow my daughter to turn in her work on time with out having to print them out. Plus there is so much you can do. I definitely recommend this app to anyone who is home schooling their kids.
  • Great app 5/5

    Super simple
  • Great app, one addition 4/5

    By BubbleWars
This app is great, I have use it for years. Allows me to edit and organize very well. I wish I was able to make pdf forms within the app. This set back is the one main need I need for iPad that is missing. Please add
  • Enable License Code 4/5

    By AppStoreUser$
I like this app, it’s kind expensive to me for already purchased a Mac app and pay for a iPad app again and just the subscriptions
  • Nothing but problems. Stay away. 1/5

    By Rawegg1
The app closes every 3 or 4 key strokes without saving. When I open, edit or close pages the app closes after 3 to 4 functions. The biggest waste of money that I have ever spent in the App Store. I spent $49.99 for a useless one year subscription to an app that doesn’t work at all.
  • This app is... 5/5

    By ;)little_one;)
I love this app! It helps me 24/7! At first I didn't believe something like this existed and when I found it my life become almost like heaven ( I mean we all need ice cream 🙄😆)
  • Data loss 1/5

    By yyahn
Beware that this app sometimes loses all your edits in your PDF file. I edited a really long document for hours and it lost all of them. Apparently it does not immediately save changes and if something happens, it may lose everything. This happened with documents in both dropbox and iCloud. This means the app is not usable anymore to me and I’m switching.
  • FAVORITE!! 5/5

    By m.aimee.p
This is truly one of the best productivity apps out there. Doing academic work and leisure reading has become so much easier since I downloaded this for my iPad. I have rarely written a review for any app, but I have to recommend it. PDF Expert works well most of the time, easy to use and I absolutely enjoy the handy “Copy to PDF Expert” option. I cannot believe the features are free compared to the quality and helpfulness. As someone who have high standards for apps and download a lot for trying out, I have not found anything to complain about this app. Excellent work!
  • Hijacked!! 1/5

    By Raceywest
I have owned this app many years and it was great back then. I paid for this full version App twice more to keep the features in the app I originally owned. Now they want $50 A YEAR(!) to keep what I already purchased. Don’t buy it!! They will remove your functionality, too and hijack you for more money.
  • Good but needs simple improvement 2/5

    By Drumsdw87
PDF Expert is a good pdf editor but for an application this expensive too not have the ability to insert PDF pages where I want them is unacceptable. Every other PDF suite has this ability except this one. Currently you can only use the append tool to insert pages at the end of the document which is.m not very user friendly if you need the pages to be in the middle of the document. Please fix this issue to make the program usable.
  • Mala ap 1/5

    By de bueno a pesimo
La App me funciono excelente 10 puntos hasta hace 2 semena después mala no se puede editar hay letras o número que no puedo escribir y cambia de letra al editar malísimo para el precio una estafa
  • Buggy, deletes annotations, lost work and time! 1/5

    By George.Adams
This used to be a solid application. Now it’s unreliable, unstable, and it deletes annotations I’ve made costing my lots of time and effort. The quality has gone downhill considerably, following closely on the heels of Readdle’s attempt to revoke the premium features users like myself had purchased to get people to pay for a more expensive subscription instead.
  • Terrible update 1/5

    By 00dost
The only functionality I need is to open and browse PDF files, but apparently after the latest update I can’t even do that, I get color marks every time I try to scroll. Way to waste time.
  • Re-Paying for features that I already paid for 1/5

    By Mcor77
I started using this app back in 2014, back then I paid for it. Now I realize that so have been downgraded. NO REFUND, or warranty for those of us who originally paid money for the app, which suddenly lost all capability, unless we were willing to fork over an additional $50! Contacted support and they are unable (or unwilling) to help What a shame!!!
  • Nags incessantly, way too expensive 1/5

    By Davidvermillion
Almost everything is gated behind a 50 dollar a year subscription which is insane for a pdf editor. You can pick up the entirety of Office 365 for that price. What’s worse is that instead of just greying out or hiding the “pro” features, it’s constantly pops up nag screens trying to get you to buy said overpriced subscription. This one is getting deleted.
  • Useless 1/5

    By :------))))))
Won’t even let me purchase the pro version which makes this app useless. Who knew an app wouldn’t want your money!
  • Unusable 1/5

    By Cptnyesterday
The app keeps removing all of the highlights that I have made at random, wasting time I have spent and made me unable to make highlights on sections read.
  • Dont update 2/5

    By m.alhyali
I updated the app and surprised that flipping pages only in vertical pattern I kept searching in the setting for option to make flip pages in horizontal pattern but there was not !!!
  • Much better than alternatives 3/5

    By Sean Jay SD
This tool does a lot of things at a fair price, but still one niggling detail (see #3 below), which might be because of the PDF format itself. The Good: 1. Tabbed browser-like reading, which allows multiple PDF documents to be open. I’Ve opened at least a dozen tabs, and haven’t experienced a lag in performance. 2. Multi-color highlighting capability. However, highlighting is not as smooth as Apple Books Amazon Kindle. It’s a 2-step process in PDF Expert: first you highlight the text and then you select Highlight from the menu options. Whereas, Books and Kindle default to Highlight, and if you want to perform another action (for example, Copy) then you go to the right-click menu. The Bad: 3. This is probably a shortcoming of the PDF format itself, but I would like to see automatic resizing of the page when zooming in and out, so that the entire page can be read without having to scroll left and right. The Books and Kindle formats allow auto resizing, and it makes for much more pleasant reading experience. So why don’t I just use either Books or Kindle to read PDF’s? After all, they do support PDF, so why pay extra for a separate app? Their huge shortcoming is the lack of multiple tabbed reading. However, even if Books and Kindle update their apps to allow multiple tabs, I still would probably use a separate PDF app for other features. For example, I haven’t yet tried the Edit PDF functions. Fix #2 above and I’ll give 4 stars. Fix #3 and it becomes 5 stars.
  • If only it worked... 1/5

    By Navyo Ericsen
Tried the Pro version and after so many fails, freezes and crashes I gave up. iPad Air, iOS 12
  • Scam for money 5/5

    By rthapa1024
Earlier purchase versions for editing . Now removed my editing abilities and asking me subscriptions for the same. Update: giving 5 stars. Was not looking into correct place for annotations. It is working as expected.
  • Merge Does Not Work 1/5

    By markerup
Trying to merge PDF files and I only see the 1st page, and the remaining pages are blank. Doesn’t matter which drive location, the completed merge file does not show any pages beyond the first page, all remaining pages are blank. I have the Pro yearly subscription.
  • Buyer beware 1/5

    By SGM Paul
Requires you to purchase the upgraded full version in order to test out all features. Which means their software will most likely not do what it is advertised to do. Honest developers give you a free trial without making you give them your credit card number first!
  • I LOVE this app! 5/5

    By Noosha001
If you’re looking to be able to edit and revise PDF’s, this app along with the PRO subscription is the one (especially if you have an iPad with an Apple Pencil)! I take all of my notes for school on this app and it’s so easy to keep files organized! I’m not usually one to pay for apps, but it’s totally worth it on this one, $50/year sounds like a lot but, I pay way more than that for a single textbook that I never even use EVERY semester, so it’s not too bad of a price, all things considered lol! Anyways, the interface is quite user friendly, I can hand-write everything and easily store it all as PDF’s on any of my devices, etc.. I love it. Aside from the app itself, the customer service of this company is top notch! I had the most minor issue with the app and I contacted their cs to see if it could be a bug. The representative, Christina S., responded within the hour, telling me that she had reviewed the problem and has a team working on the solution! I felt so cared for and heard! She was incredibly kind and sincere in all of her responses. I am being updated on the progress of the issue, since it may take a while to fix, which is not necessary at all, but greatly appreciated!! I was so inspired by how nice she was that I HAD to come share. If you can’t tell by now, it’s time for me to spell it out for ya! Lol I highly recommend this app. It is by far the best of its kind on every level. So good in fact, that I, a random user with no incentive whatsoever, have chosen to take time out of my busy life to rave about it!
  • Always a great app. Now it’s time to update it 5/5

    By EasterAries
While PDF expert has and continues to be the best PDF app in the Apple ecosystem, represented strongly on all platforms, the advent of cursor support on iPad means now’s the time for it to leave some of it’s proprietary conventions — particularly around file management, dragging and dropping and contextual menus —to bring it in line with the emerging conventions of proper apps on iPadOS. I absolutely encourage you to get this and the pro subscription. Readdle has a proven track record of continual development, refinement and rethinking. And I’m certain PDF Expert’s best days are ahead of it.
  • Bought prior to subscription - now worthless! 1/5

    By JeffS91
You’d think if you paid for a premium app, you would at least get to keep the functionality you had. Another good app destroyed by the subscription model.
  • Update: Fixed? (Readle PDF expert holds your files hostage.) 3/5

    By waikikiTed
Update: Perhaps the recent update fixed this issue that I referred to below. I hope it did. It seems as if it did. For that reason I’ve changed my rating from 0-3. One thing for sure, I don’t think I’ll ever update this app again for fear I lose my files and app usability again. Thank you for appearing to fix the issue for previously paid premium members. Original Rating; I’ve had a paid premium purchase that worked well for me. Now they’ve gone and change their business model to a paid subscription WITHOUT giving previously paid customers a ‘heads-up’ and notice that once they update the PDF Expert app, they’ll then lose access to every single one of their PDFs that they’ve ever made using this app. POOF! All gone. They could change the name of this app to ‘Readle-iculous PDF X-Pert’.
  • Forced to buy an upgrade 2/5

    By Disgruntled 2222
Application would not allow me to edit my document until I paid another $7.00 to "upgrade."
  • Swith to the best in the market 5/5

    By reza133133
I used to use Foxit Reader but it has become a disaster lately. Believe me, this one does all what Foxit does even better and smoother. Highly recommend it, hope it remains as good as it’s right now.
  • Great 5/5

The best PDF editor I’ve seen 💙
  • Not helping 1/5

    By Catherine 2011
It want even let me edit the PDF.

    By Buddie2015
I’ve used PDF Expert for years. Started as a free app. Then offered more features if you upgraded, which I did for $10. Then comes an update to what they called Pro and the features you have already paid for now require another fee to continue to use. They try and justify the charge by adding a new worthless feature. Like an imbecile I fell for it and paid again. Another wasted $10. Now the PRO version you have already paid for twice becomes a new PRO version?? But to get that they now want $50 per year, really????? As long as you know what you’re in for good luck. History is clear that once these greedy developers reel you in they will continue to want more $$ again and again! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!
  • Just beware if you try the app and it is worthless (which it is) and you delete the app- unsubscribe 1/5

    By FantasyFootball...Freak!!
Just beware if you try the app and it is worthless (which it is) and you delete the app don’t forget to unsubscribe because within a few days you’ll be smacked for $55 which you can kiss goodbye... lesson learned won’t happen again..
  • Bruh 49 bucks annually? 1/5
