Unreliable technology, poor customer service 1/5
Despite following the extensive instructions and submitting photos with several “identifying-isolating circles”, more than 75% of standard urban vegetation was incorrectly identified. I resubmitted for special review by “staff botanists”, and 1 out of 6 photos was correctly ID’ed- just not a reasonable ratio of success for a purchased app. Despite being confronted with these miserable results, PlantSnap has refused to refund my $ & cancel my account. Others with similar poor results may want to follow my lead and have their credit card company dispute the charge- its the only recourse you’ll have.
Magnolia Tripatela 5/5
Growing in my yard. Brought by birds. So glad to finally identify it with the app!
Plants especially succulents are therapy 5/5
I absolutely love having such a wide array of information on the plants that I have and the ones I see in nature! What a great app and I hope it continues to grow!
Irritated user 1/5
This worked for about 6 identifications, then an advertisement popped up that I was unable to get rid of. No, I’m not interested in brain neurons, I had been interested in plants. I’m now taking you off of my phone. Total waste of time
Did not work for me!! 1/5
I took 2 separate pictures of a weed and the results were NOT EVEN CLOSE to matching the picture!! Do not waste your time with this app!!
Yesterday , I tried snap plant Pro. Took pics of 5 plants all id’s were spot on. Today using free version, took same 5 plants and 4 were wrong.
Buy the Pro version, unless my wife is there to ID them for you.
Just got this app. I’m going around my yard identifying all my plants that I thought were weeds. Ooooops
By mad mad d
I love it
Really fun! 5/5
I love plants and herbs but am not familiar with everything. This fun little app is a great introduction and wealth of knowledge!
PNW learning curve! 5/5
This app has helped me so much when identifying plants and trees. We moved from SOCAL to PNW and lots of plants were weren’t familiar with. Through plant snap app I was able to identify a very poisonous weed in our backyard a giant hogweed plant. Great app!
Worked great initially now total fail 1/5
By Pixie kiss
I was super happy with it in the very beginning and I even bought the upgraded version and then come to find out I am taking pictures of what I clearly know to be a tomato plant and is coming up as a hibiscus flower again and again I know with the plants what they are an and it comes up as a totally different plant. So disappointed
I was totally skeptical at first. But after wandering around the house inside and out I found out what many plants were that I’d been tending to. I love that I can save the pictures in my own folder to review and refer back to. I highly recommend this app.
Can't save anything 1/5
Seems like you have to spend on the premium version to get any value. Plant ID on free version is not as good as I hear the paid version is
Downloaded it and it is not at all accurate.
Wow!! New hobby! LOL 5/5
Ok I was skeptical but I am a real person and this app really works. LOL Like most people, I buy plants then forget what I bought. I have used it to identify 5 personal plants and one camera roll pic that I took while traveling out of state. I was able to say with confidence that the app gave me an accurate result on each. The fern was a little tricky but that’s a tough one. My fiancé also tried, failed and gave up. Haha I tried to inform him (without gloating) that he simply didn’t give it a chance. Here are my tips:
1.) Feel free to lift branches/reposition flowers to put the plant in an ideal position. That way you are sure to get flowers and leaves in the same shot.
2.) Do not expect the result preview to be the same color/size as your exact plant. (My fiancé’s mistake. Hehe) Keep in mind that plants come in several varieties. A quick google search can help you narrow results and find your exact variation for confirmation.
3.) SAVE!! Once you find your winner, don’t forget to save the result. I plan to use mine to make plant name tags so my visitors can enjoy knowing more about the beauty they are seeing.
10 for 10 failure 1/5
Tried this app on known species. Failed every time.
Very Poor Performer 1/5
By So Cal Plant Guy
Very poor performance. Only works with something really obvious.
By goofy ruffie
People friendly. Easy to Use for beginners.
Good app 5/5
I have had great luck with this app. I take pictures when out walking and then use the app. Once I got the hang of the picture required to identify the plant I have had no problem with the app. So far it’s identified every plant correctly! Very happy with this app! And no I am not part of their development team!!!! This is my honest opinion of this app!!!!!
Why would you force people to login / register. I just want to see what the app looks like and if its good enough to continue with registration.
I am not going to register straight away, so I closed the app and removing it from my iPhone. Congratulations! You’ve just lost a potential customer. As I do make in-app purchases in good apps and games I like.
Great app to identify plants 5/5
We have been given a lot of Annuals and perennials for a new garden this app works great to identify them and label them. Thank you
Always right! 5/5
The garden group I’m part of on Facebook recommended this app and it really is great. It’s been able to identify all of the plants I put through it with almost perfect success (even without flowers!) there is a daily limit of 10 identifications, but that seems fair given it’s a free app. 10/10 would recommend
Non-stop crashing 1/5
Downloaded app and within five minutes the app crashed 4 times and failed to load photos from photo album 3 times (white screen)
My guess is the excessive ads and pop ups are to blame, but I don’t see myself paying $20 ($5 more than Android users) for an app I can’t test without non-stop crashing.
And no, developers, it wasn’t a bad download.
Misleading and frequently wrong 1/5
Very disappointed! I tested this app using photos from my gallery that I knew the name of already. Out of the 10 snaps they allow you to use a day- it only have me 2 correct answers! Says it's free to use with email registration, but is not really free. Disappointed.
Couldn’t identify the plants 1/5
Could not identify the plants every single time. Had to look it up on Google for the correct identification. Pathetic.
Plant Snap 5/5
By Gypsy Seer
This APP is so easy to use!! I love it. I highly recommend it.
Wonderful app ! I love it
Sometimes not 100% accurate but still very good!
Great app unfortunately I have way too many I already pay for
10 plants and then pay for more 1/5
I thought app would be great, but after downloading it I find out that users get 10 uses.
It doesn’t say whether this is a time based or permanent limit in the app. The developer responded to my negative review that this is a daily limit. It is NOT a daily limit, but rather a permanent limit until you upgrade. I used this once and now after a week, still 0 snaps available. Uninstalling, don’t waste your time.
Very useful great idea for those venturing into nature 5/5

Pretty useful app for plant IDs 4/5
By Holly Lenz
I originally gave this app three stars, because it was having trouble identifying plants, but either the app is improving or my use of it is getting better. I’m finding it increasingly more useful for narrowing down plant IDs. The ten free snaps per day are more than enough for the average user. And the customer service is very good if you have problems. Not perfect, but a pretty useful app!
Doesn’t identify 1/5
Has not identified one plant correctly. Gave one star because I am not a meanie.
9/10 times this doesn’t find the correct plant.
Wrong twice on the same plant 1/5
This app said paper mulberry , than a pawpaw. Who knows next it may say a white rose. Worthless app will be deleted the next wrong identification. If I could I would give it -10 stars. Mo university app showed a picture of giant ragweed the exact description and leaf picture as I sent to you and it first showed paper mulberry plant. The paper mulberry and giant ragweed leaves look nothing’s alike.
Works Great 5/5
This app works great. I had a “weed” that I couldn’t identify and I took a picture in PlantSnap and it identified it as Little HogWeed. The first time I tried to identify it in PlantSnap it didn’t work because I had pulled a stem off the weed and took the picture of it laying on a concrete slab. It misidentified it. But then I took a picture of the complete plant and it worked great. My neighbor is a Master Gardener and he couldn’t identify it. If at first you don’t get accurate results, maybe it’s how your taking the picture. Great App!
Downloaded this and decided to test it on plants that I know for a fact what they were. The app got every single one wrong. I’m sorry but if it can’t identify basic things like tomato, avocado, pumpkin, and hostas, then it’s a completely useless app. Don’t waste your time or money on this app.
HOT App 1/5
Used once a few days after installing. ID’d the plant but didn’t want to close. 30 mins later, my iPhone was very hot! Deleted.
free but very limited 2/5
I was kinda let down while using this app even though it’s pretty simple the mechanics are slightly difficult. there’s a bit of *lagging* when it comes to scrolling or just trying to use the app in general. the features are pretty *limited* to where you can only take *10 pictures every 5 hours* and *ads* pop up from time to time. you can also choose to pay a monthly fee of $2 or a 1 time fee to unlock everything which is about $25. it’s also a struggle that it takes a *few tries for it to actually identify and plant correctly* which leads to you using up the majority of your tries. I hope to see some sort of improvement to when it comes to helping consumers and a nice feature I think should be added on are instructions on how to care for said plant and what region its mainly found in.
Plant id 1/5
It has not identified one plant correctly. Easy ones like Christmas cactus and golden pathos !
No, not useful at all.
It would be nice to know more info on the plant for example the region, how big it gets temp etc.
Definitely improved from earlier version. Picks up fine differences in plant families. Thank you. We’re enjoying the resource!
Ugly ad 1/5
Surrounded by beautiful flowers an the up puts an ad with a picture of toenail fungus on the first page. Promptly deleted
No identification 1/5
Just installed and it didn’t correctly identify any of the fruit or tree pictures.
Not worth the trouble of installing
By 70's player
This is one of the worst highly hyped apps I have ever used. what a piece of crap. It failed to even come close to identifying 10 known plants. It identified a flowering Dogwood is eastern poison ivy. Lame. It wasn’t even close on eight out of the 10. It successfully identified an easy add a lily with 10 blooms on it. Wow. Don’t waste your effort.
Great app, but be careful of which version you purchase 3/5
I love this app, but I am really ticked off because I feel like I've been ripped off. Twice I've emailed the PlantSnap people to find out about a pricing issue. After the first email I received an automated response. After my second email to them, I never heard anything back, not even an automated response. It's been a few weeks since my first email, and I'm still waiting for an answer to my question.
This is what happened. I was told about the app by someone I know, so I downloaded the free version just to check it out. I really liked it, so I decided to go with the paid version. From within the free app, I clicked to upgrade and was given a couple of choices. I remember that there was a $9.99 annual subscription, or a lifetime subscription for $29.99. I know I will be using this app for a long time to come, so I decided to go with the lifetime subscription.
About a week later, I was telling someone about the app and went into the App Store to show them what to look for. When I searched for PlantSnap, lo and behold there was another option listed in the App Store, PlantSnap Pro for $19.99. I checked that out, and from everything I read, it appears to be the exact same thing as the Lifetime version that I had just paid $29.99 to purchase. There had been a third option available when I went to upgrade through the free version of the app, but it was not the PlantSnap Pro version. I certainly would have gone with that had I known about it.
Anyway, it's been at least 3 weeks since I emailed Plant Snap through the app, asking what, exactly, is the difference between the lifetime PlantSnap and PlantSnap Pro, and if by not showing the Pro version as an upgrade through the free app, were they just ripping their customers off to get an extra $10.00 out of them. Since I can get no response from these people, I am now turning to Facebook. I will also copy what I've just written here and post it as a review in the App Store in order to let others know what they're getting into.
Enjoy the app, but do your research before buying.
(P.S.) I’d like to add that I posted this on PlantSnap’s Facebook page just before I posted this review. Now, several hours later, I still cannot see my post on their Facebook page. There are a lot of other user posts, but not mine. They must be blocking it. Whatever you do, do not try to reach customer support for this app.

Great app to find what flowers birds deliver to your house by way of seeds.
Snap chat review 4/5
The app seems to find the plant and it’s Latin name.
It would be nice if it gave me a
Article on how to care for the plant.
I had just gotten and used the app the first time when they asked me to review it. I did know how to use it yet. A lot of the information I wanted was on the page I just didn’t scroll down far enough.
Plant knowledge 5/5
Loving knowing what plants are and how to take care of them. Yeah!
