App doesn’t work after update 1/5
By CK from Singapore
Downloaded the latest update and now the app doesn’t even start. Can’t delete the app as I’lol lose all my previously downloaded magazines. What should I do?

NY Times 2/5
I have been a loyal NY Times reader for 4 decades. Living remotely, I am only able to get a subscription via PressReader. Sorry, but I feel that the system works better for PressReader Incorporated than for its subscribers.
I have recently spent a full half day renewing my subscription as my credit card on file had expired. PressReader deleted my account at the stroke of midnight when my yearly subscription expired and I was online and on the phone for 5 hours to become recognized as a subscriber and become reinstated with my updated payment information.
Was there an email updating me of the impending end of my subscription? Nope.
Wake up PressReader you are a service industry and we are your clients!
I have already noted my renewal date in 364 days in my 2020 calendar.
Latest update broke ability to read newspaper (New York Times) 1/5
The latest update (released on November 20 or 21, 2019) broke my ability to read the New York Times eNewspaper (using “Replica-like” format). Now, when I click on a highlighted article’s heading, I get to read only the first screen’s worth. The updated app refuses to recognize finger swipes to go to next page! This is on my Apple iPad running iPadOS 13.2.3.
Please fix ASAP!
Read out loud function not working 2/5
I used to love this app but it’s now buggy, read out loud function doesn’t work and the app shuts down unexpectedly, please fix!
Format is good 5/5
I like reading the headlines and the enlarging the articles I want to read. I also like having the paper follow me insread of having to hunt for it when I travel.
Terrible authentication system leaves you locked out all the time 1/5
I’m subscribed through the King County Library System and need to constantly reauthenticate. Terrible user experience which renders this largely useless. As of late I can’t even find my library on the search screen that pops up, even though the account screen shows everything correctly. What a mess of an app!
Great program, but needs Archiveability and Highlights 5/5
Everything about this program is great except for two things.
1) If you switch phones or tablet, you lose all your publications. This ignores a large portion of the users who intend to study and reference the material over time.
2) It does not allow the ability to highlight the material or take notes in those sections. The only notes section is for public commentary, which is a different purpose.
If we pay for the publication, we should be able to keep it forever and highlight it and do what we need to do with it. Being in the digital world is nice because you can search many publications for keywords, but without the ability to archive what is the point?
I have tried to cancel this and I have been charged two extra months when I only wanted it for one month. Not sure what to do next.
Great reading, data hog 4/5
I love reading newspapers in their original format on PressReader. I have a subscription to one paper and access to hundreds of papers through my local library, and both log-ins work seamlessly together. PressReader has improved to near-perfect status over the years but one flaw remains: despite my efforts to clear out old editions, the size of my data files grows until it chokes my iPad. Recently I had to once again delete and reinstall the app after it reached over 7GB of content. I don’t know what is causing this as I don’t see any stash of available newspapers in any archive. Otherwise, I’m very happy as a long-time user.
Paid with no joy 1/5
I have paid so much money but could never access material
Good. It could be better 3/5
By Brian Doyle
I read the N.Y. Times almost daily as I travel a lot. I actually like reading on PressReader better than the actual paper. The photos are better, and you can jump to continuation pages easily, and back, sometimes. Unfortunately with the Times at least, links are missing at times. That might be NYT’s fault?
Navigating with the gizmo on the bottom of the screen is tedious. A drop down list would be better.
Also missing is a “back” button. I wish I could just go back to the previous page I was on like in every other reading app I have used.
Finally, it seems that if an update comes down to an issue or supplement while you are reading it, the app pops up an annoying sidebar and sometime takes you back to the top of the page or the first page...very annoying. They should just put up an icon to notify you.
But overall I like it. I use a different one for the Vail Daily and I like this one better.
Useful but frustratingly buggy 3/5
I use Pressreader on my iPad solely to read the digital replica of the NYT. The app frequently crashes, frequently mis-displays pages and frequently gets stuck in a funk and needs to be returned home and then re-navigate to your page to display and function properly. The NYT disallows selection and dictionary lookup - but that is not Pressreaders fault. Would also like it to zoom in farther. I am not a fan.
What does the subscription cover? 2/5
By Guru of Analytics
You pay $30 a month to access up to date papers you can get anywhere but have to pay $2 for each older article? Seems useless.
I’m a new user. This app gave me access to the article I wanted to read.
However, I found it very odd that I had to read it it like I was looking at a picture of the actual printed newspapers page.
So, I cannot just search for a keyword, only for magazines, and then I have to know which date my article was published
next issue is not all papers are included. and there isn’t a way to suggest new magazines as dar as I can see. I’m still an “unregistered” user even though I’m a subscriber and nowhere does it say the benefit of registration
so looking for scientific magazines (I had Quanta Magazine in mind describing quantum phenomena to the public) or medical journals (Like Journal of Alzheimer’s disease) will not be fruitful
Not a friendly application.
Best of the best 5/5
I love this app! Need to read many news on different languages. Everything is right here. Thank you PressReader! You are the best!
Love the app but BIG problems with this update! 5/5
Big problems with this update! I love the app and have used it for years, but now (1) the drop-down menu that shows table of contents completely blacks out and freezes the screen! (2) From the main screen, the little “More” menu is blank (“...” at lower right corner of screen)! (3) From the page preview display, the little vertical ellipsis at the bottom of the screen also brings up a completely blank menu! Please help!
Automatic Downloads Have Ceased 2/5
Daily NY Times used to download automatically each morning when it became available from publisher. All of a sudden, it stopped downloading. Now, to get each day’s issue, I have to go to “Publications”, wade through all of the newspaper choices, find today’s Times, and tap on it. This is worse than inconvenient. Sometimes you list something for download that isn’t even available yet, like The NY Times Sunday Book Review. Tapping it just produces a “Not Available yet” notice. What’s the point of listing something that can’t be downloaded? When will you restore automatic downloads for subscribers?
IOS app works inconsistently 2/5
My library system has a subscription to Press Reader. To sign in with your library card the Press Reader video says all you need is the library system name, your card number and your PIN. This is supposedly how the web version works but the iPad app wants you to also create an account. You can’t bypass this. However sometimes the app seems to think you’re on a library hotspot (I’m not) and lets you get on anyway. The next day it forgets and wants to charge you through iTunes. But, if you wait a couple of hours it thinks you’re on a library hotspot again.
I don’t know who designs and writes this software but they sure don’t test it.
Can’t sign in iPad 12.1.1 where’s NYT 1/5
I can not set up account on iPad. Even after I set one up on iPhone neither the sign in nor registration boxes have a cursor so it will not take any text at all
I tried PR because New York Times customer service says it is the only way to read their replica edition.
But there is no NYT available.
App is largely worthless
Not. That. Great. 3/5

I am not impressed with this app at all. It just makes things that should be straightforward and easy unnecessarily difficult. I do a search on a new device for a periodical I have been receiving for years on an older one, and the search turns up nothing. I wish to de-authorize one device so that I can authorize another and I can’t do that without getting tech support from my organization (the website won’t let me sign in on my computer so I can do so myself. Instead it tells me that my email and/or password are “incorrect” - which they are not). Just a bunch of unnecessarily complicated nonsense!
Also, the app has an icon badge which is not self-explanatory. I wish I knew what it signified. Is it the number of periodicals I am supposed to receive (because that does not seem accurate)? The number of issues available for download? (because that doesn’t seem accurate either). What?! I tried opening all my periodicals to see if that would get the icon to it would go away or change, but it didn't. So an explanation of its significance would be nice.
With many publications piling up I would appreciate a feature that could instantly put them in chronological order, for finding issues more easily, but there doesn’t seem to be such a feature.
Honestly, if I did not need to use this app out of necessity, I would have deleted it long ago.
almost there 3/5

2 of the missing, but very necessary functions....Otherwise, thumbs up👍🏻 !
Keeps freezing 2/5
Really great app idea except for the fact that every time I log into it, it freezes and I have to restart the app to get it to work.
Impossible to find my library 1/5
By Used to use it more
It’s the most frustrating, the select library or group function does not work. I just spent the last 30 mins trying to find New York public library, the search function does not seem to do anything! I give up.
Press reader 5/5
Good but needs to be updated
New to app 1/5
Costly & useless without paying...Don’t waste your time
FABULOUS TO HAVE NEWS ON IPAD 5/5
By News Suz
This is the greatest app! I get to see my NY Newspaper while I live in Florida. I can see any paper from all over the world! It’s ready by 5:30am and I don’t have to go outside to my driveway to get the paper... wet or dry! I don’t have to deal with the newspaper print that I’m allergic to. And I don’t have to throw the paper away at the end of the day! Also, I can save papers on my iPad or iPhone and see my favorite stories or articles whenever I want. It’s just FABULOUS! And the price cannot be beat!!! Get this Press Reader app ASAP!!!
A service I use daily 5/5
This service is a must in my daily routine. It has just gotten better with each version. Keep up the good work!
Save article problem 5/5
Cannot save articles on NYT online. Doesn’t work never did. Very disappointing.
Excelente app 5/5
Muy practica y útil para el comunicador

How can I print the crossword only; not the surrounding articles on that page?
-1 star for reading out loud function 4/5
The one thing that is missing is that despite hd Siri voice in set as the main narrating voice and works perfect with any text in any app, this app is somehow using inferior voice which you really don’t want to listen to.
An amazing source of reading, but not only! 5/5
My access to all possible world press became instant, my opinions became influential, my channel is growing and developing super fast. Three great features I’ve never seen before but always dreamed of: real time Translation (you don’t need 3rd party anymore) - very convenient - just imagine you can read any language! (Italian Vogue is not longer Italian)
Then you don’t even have to read, Voice Reader can do it aloud.
And finally the Boomarks! (I still have those thousands of heavy folders I used put teared magazine pages in from my student years). The app delivers the fresh issues of all I read right to my account. I’m shocked! I’m in future!
Mispronounciation of regular words. 3/5

Many times while listening certain words are missed pronounced that should be regularly pronounced like
Lives and lives and nammyohorengekyo
Great when it works 2/5
Customer service not helpful at all when app crashes or won’t download. No phone number for contacting them. Still buggy after all these years.
New Update Fail? 1/5
The latest update seems to have caused errors in attempting to access my linked NY Times account. Publications won’t even load...please fix, thanks!
Great concept, wish could bookmark/save on NY Times 3/5
That equivalent of clipping newspaper articles is disabled for The NY Times (replica of the paper). Boo, not fully replacing the wood pulp newspaper yet.
Memory nightmare 5/5
By Will22 R
Deleting an issue does not delete it from the IPad. It takes more and more memory and becomes more and more unstable. You have to delete the entire app, re download, and re log in, about weekly. Not worth it.

I love this app!!!
Love this app! 5/5
Amazing content and easy reading. I love the format and ease of this app! ❤️
Press Reader 5/5
Press Reader is an excellent substitute for the printed paper. I love that it is identical to the print edition. Because of that I KNOW that I’m not missing anything. It is as easy to navigate as the printed paper and maybe better because one can enlarge the print.
I wish one could email an article from it but you can’t. If one could it would be perfect.
Sadly it is not Good anymore
Shame on you, New York Times 4/5
The N Y Times does not recognize PressReader subscriptions to the paper as legit and, yet, the Times offers no replica alternative on its subscriber site. Shame on you.
Problems crashing 2/5
I’ve read the paper on this app for years with no problems. Now, every time I try to open the New York Times (for the past several days), the app crashes. Please do something about this. Perhaps it is time for an update.
Crashes constantly 2/5
This was working fine until a couple of weeks ago, now when I try and read a newspaper the app opens and then almost immediately crashes, making it unusable
