REVER - Navigation, GPS, Maps app reviews

  • Can't use 1/5

    By Abe Honestly
App will not allow to create an account
  • Constant Crashing - borderline useless. 2/5

    By SonnysTile
I really REALLY want to give this a better review. If I could get the app to work consistently, I would give it 5 stars. I paid for Pro and can’t even open my rides; it just crashes. Glad I actually had my paper Butler Maps on my last trip out west. If I had counted on REVER it would have been a disaster. So much for sharing with friends that would be interested.
  • Theft Recovery 5/5

    By iLegion_anonymous
My motorcycle got stolen this morning and the SMS alerts woke me up and was able to contact police to assist them on finding my ride. I can’t thank these guys enough for the reliable, almost pin-point accuracy location, which enable us to recover my bike within 40 minutes. The app itself is straightforward and easy to use, the battery voltage display saved my butt from having a dead battery and being stranded because of my clumsiness (leaving the ignition on parking mode). The alarm can easily be turned on/off as needed. The dashboard easily lets me see where my motorcycle is, which is useful when I let family members borrow it.
  • Review 4/5

Fun to use! I haven’t maxed out my knowledge on how to use it yet.
  • Poor service 1/5

    By ronxterra
I like the way this app is set up and wanted to used bc I do a lot of traveling but I have issues on getting the app to work, I purchase the app and it failed so I cancelled and I tried to purchase it again and re-tried it again and no luck so I messaged the support on the app two times but no response so I emailed the support and again still no response. The shame is I paid for it and still can’t use it. Disappointed
  • Good as free app, not much more for “Premium” 2/5

    By REMIKUS
Used it as premium for a few months. Not feeling its worth extra money. I can get most of that trough Google Maps. Planning etc. probably its most useful for off road riding (not me). Following blue line after sending directions to cellphone its just nothing but frustration. On top of everything app quit on me couple of times and I lost all tracking data for a half of the day and it happened not just once or twice. Not happy about it 🤬. Turn by turn its VERY LIMITED- keep in mind. I asked for refund for the rest of the unused period of the year (10 months left) and I was charged for half of the year. Being smart now I wouldn’t purchase the whole year ever. They should offer 7-14 days trial first like everybody else.
  • New to riding and rever 4/5

    By 11B Josh
An important part of trip planning is planning your gas station stops, I think rye addition of gas stations would help take this to the next level.
  • Not for planning a long ride 1/5

    By Mr to you
If you plan on a trip that takes you to one location it’s ok. If you’re planning two weeks of riding good luck. It’s worthless for multiple days of riding
  • Useful in some ways 2/5

    By poconoracing
I ride about 5k miles a year, mostly weekends. I was looking for a solution that overlayed weather which this app does. The issue is if you create a route on the webpage, it does not give you the option to navigate it, only follow. If you navigate it will recalculate the shortest route. Stupid if you are looking for the scenic ride. If you follow the route- It doesn’t tell you when you should turn! I gave it a 90 day try and find it Lacking. It’s not quite ready to pay $8 a month for a prime time app. Google is free.
  • Love it 5/5

    By Ricky bangerter
    Thanks for rad app
  • I just wanted butler maps 2/5

    By jay braillard
Every time I use this app. I have to go to menu settings and turn on butler routes. Absolutely no butler route info. What is a yellow vs red graded road ? You got my money for one year, not for two.
  • Motorcycle trip 2019 4/5

    By Joneszs
I did a 7600 mile motorcycle trip fro the north end of the BRP To Crescent City California. And on the trip the app would just shut off and start over. Don’t know what it is but it does it a lot. Other then that I love it but now I’m skittish about using it.
  • Good route planning app. 4/5

    By Rustykfd
Took me a little bit to figure out, but I’m liking it. Like the Butler info.
  • Unreliable, clunky not useful 1/5

    By Bus user ut
Sorry guys, this has gotten worse with every update. Took 8-10 rides this week; the app tracked less than half of each one. Of over 1,000 miles ridden, less than 100 tracked. ADV riders tend to ride outside cell coverage. Seems the app stops tracking the second I’m out of a service area. Seems silly to market this to ADV riders when it seems to require a cell signal to work.
  • Good App!! 5/5

    By Kdgst
Enjoying this app very much! Easy to use with good information and interface.
  • Great app, with a killer feature that is overlooked 5/5

    By out180
As a new rider my significant other is of course concerned. I tried all the Motorcycle routing and tracking apps, and none of them had this one killer feature that I’m not sure stands out enough. Safety SMS. Yep, you configure your safety contact and start a ride in the app, they get a text message with a link to your live location. You finish a ride in the app, they get a text message that you arrived at your destination. That feature is amazing. There are other apps out there that you can share your location with, but none I found that auto-trigger an SMS message with a link at the start of a ride, and another SMS message when you are finished. That right there will keep me on Rever. There’s some things I think they could do to make the app even better though. Speed overlay on the map is one. Right now you have to drop down a panel to see your speed. Would be great to see it as an overlay on the map itself (think Waze). Different color schemes other than that Orange and Black (minor but pretty is everything these days). Lean angles would be cool. Also, a curvy / ultra-curvy route planner (hint, there’s a competitor with it) would be sweet as well. None of the above pushes me away from the product, and it shouldn’t cause you to look elsewhere either. Roadmap of the product though could grow a great app into an amazing one.
  • Not Landscape Compatible 1/5

    By Dachman
After a year and multiple conversations with tech support, they’re not interested in fixing this problem. They expect you to only use this while in portrait mode. Spend your money elsewhere.
  • Route tracker 5/5

    By K8iat
    Love the route tracker.
  • Good but... 4/5

    By ry565656
Enjoy the app so far for tracking routes and miles. Navigation is a little buggy and often tries to route me to the back side of destinations rather than the actual street address. No real complaints other than the top users on the odometer challenge claiming to ride 8-12k miles every single month. Maybe the truck drivers should turn the tracking off when they’re not actually riding on two wheels.
  • Good App, waiting for the new version 3/5

    By Providence912
I like the concept and it does what it says, but there is room for improvement. If you don’t have an expensive motorcycle GPS this should do the trick. If you have a decent motorcycle GPS, I would hold off.
  • Useless, unsafe, glitch filled. Uninstalled. 1/5

    By Hamstersoup
Used this for one group ride and promptly uninstalled. No one in our group could open and follow the path of the planned route, the app would just go back to home screen when you clicked “ride it”. I, the creator was the only one with a map of the route. It gets worse, I’d tap “ride it” then “Follow route line” because I wasn’t going to pay for the app before trying it out, and we set off. 1 minute goes by and the phone screen still times out as normal so now I have to enter my 6 digit pin while doing 80mph on the highway to make sure we don’t miss our turn. Unsafe, Useless, glitch filled app. There are plenty of other free solutions you can pair with Google maps for Free, that will have turn by turn directions, for free.
  • Very useful!! 5/5

    By Gamedaytx.com
Took me a little getting used to it, but despite occasional shutdowns and reboots, I still like this app. I’m able to create routes from my laptop and then download the GPX file to my Garmin Montana, able to download maps directly to my phone for out of service use, and best of all... track my rides for recall and reuse. Allows me to upload a few pics to the tracked ride, and share across social media platforms.
  • Close, but no cigar 2/5

    By d.tour
I used Rever for a couple years. I was a premium user most of that time. However, somewhere along the line, the app stopped working for me. Every time the app closed, I’d be forced to login again. This wouldn’t be too much of an issue if it didn’t happen when I turned my screen off during a break or a long stretch of road to save battery. When I did this, the app would log me out, deleting any trip data I just gained. This also ruined the use of the REVERGo thing. If my app is logged out, it wouldn’t auto track my rides. Since the app seemed to be failing me, I tried the Rlink device out, for about an hour. Since the app kept hanging or crashing while activating, I was never able to actually get a ride in with it. Luckily, customer service was quick to help me out and let me return it. After that, I cancelled my premium membership and have been looking for alternatives. Still, I try the app whenever they have an update in hopes that my issues are solved. They’re not.
  • Only useful in areas already popular to ride in. 3/5

By Blue T and his SV
Looks like a great app but there are no entries in my area (western NY). The pins cluster around areas that are already popular and well known for riding. The premium Butler Maps option makes this feel more like a sales pitch. Maybe if caught on with more users in the area, but for now it’s not worth using.
  • Fun app 5/5

    By Dr John 001
It’s a lot of fun to see your path at the end of a ride. A free trial of turn-by-turn directions was offered once, but the app crashed on me and I couldn’t do the trial. I wish we could update a web map in real time like FollowMee. I wish we got dynamic info like lean angles that some of the track apps offer. As it is, I run 3 moto apps at once to get all this, plus sometimes a gps app as well! For what it is, it’s great! Wish it was more though.
  • Good, but crashes consistently 4/5

    By JamesSS1272
I enjoy my ride being memorialized & the ability to share a pic of the route. The bad - I click Profile and the Rides ... the app crashes faster than a new rider on gravel. Hope they fix it. iPhone XS Max 12.3.1 user on Rever’s latest release as of June 28, 2019. Keep improving your app & everyone else enjoy the ride.
  • Awesome for adventure riding 5/5

    By edwardeee
    Really great first impressions.
  • Good info - mediocre execution. Buggy? 3/5

    By Bondominator6969
So far impressed with the aggregation of data in this app. However it seems to crash a fair amount and also will not allow me to add a second waypoint to my route when starting with a specific waypoint within a preloaded route (Butler, BDR, etc.). This may be due to having not updating iOS yet - I will change this review should that be the case.
  • Frequent crashes 2/5

    By Indiggio
I’ve used the app in past years to record my rides, but with latest versions the app frequently crashes during the ride, obviously halting the recording of the ride. I really like using the app, but if these bugs are not remedied soon, I’m going to have to look for another app to use to record my rides. Thanks!
  • Love it 5/5

    By Armtech13
    Love it
  • Not impressed 2/5

    By JeverH
I’ve just started using this app and it keeps crashing on me. I tried to plan my trip and it doesn’t let me finish it! I had to start over around 5 times! Very annoying! It also lacks some basic features, like good editing routes!
  • So much potential 2/5

    By cittyguy
Why does REVER reroute my ride onto interstates and off my planned route when I follow wave points? I planed my route I want to ride it. I did choose “avoid highways”, it still reroutes. I tried setting lots of wave pointes and it still find places to reroute. If I follow the planed line it’s easy to loose the route unless you are focused on the app, and you should not, we are riding motorcycles and we should keep an eye on the road. The app crashes. Also it always records my route. Just another layer of competition. I don’t need to always record my route. If I did gps that will take me on the fastest route I could use google or Waze. I am a frustrated paying customer. I only keep the app because it has Butler maps.
  • To Cali we go 5/5

    By Mr.Postman2538
Setting up our trip from Ga across the country. Worked great once we figured out how to map !
  • Requires account, data collection 1/5

    By Rumudiez
The app does not let you even browse the features it has to offer before requiring you to register for an account. Since my use case is simply to track my rides for reflection and re-rides, I don’t feel it’s acceptable to send all of my location to unknown, untrusted servers and would only use this app if it stored everything locally.
  • Jury out on premium 4/5

    By Jasper3610
I love the tracking of Rever. I haven’t used Navigation only the tracking. I recently signed up for premium. I haven’t used it a lot, but it seems to slow the app down considerably. The 3D is cool, but pretty hard to use on a long ride.
  • Great for On and Off-Road 4/5

    By TreeSkierCO
Been using Rever for about 3 years. Consistently getting better and better. Use it for planning routes before trips, adjusting during and sharing with riding buddies. Wish they could add a weather overlay, but this is so much easier than Garmin and Basecamp for planning. I import the GPX files to my Garmin as a backup as well. Would highly recommend!
  • yep 4/5

    By Sir Ralfo
    Works!!!!
  • Buggy AF 1/5

    By marglar9000
Really buggy, especially if you have to start a planned route again. It will keep trying to route you to previous waypoints, etc.
  • Trip planning tool 5/5

    By GS Mike
Best trip planning tool to create files for your Garmin GPS. Intuitive and with Butler map data it makes the premium membership worth every penny.
  • Choose a ride 1/5

    By Ragged_ Edge
Can’t save any rides because it asks me to choose a ride.
  • Really bad 1/5

    By kaatooom950
Zero stars. Don’t waist your time and money. Had it for a few years. I even subscribed for the upgraded version. $23 down the drain. Keeps crashing, only gives you interstate routes, no way of choosing if you want to take local roads, not user friendly at all. Don’t pay for it. Only decent thing is BDR routes. But I’m sure you can get them without rever.
  • Customer service 5/5

    By A TdM
I upgraded to Premium and I couldn’t import gpx files. I emailed Rever’s customer to ask for help. REVER responded right away. We kept on going going back and forth until it worked for me. These guys offer great customer service.
  • Terrible 1/5

    By randy lowe
App is terrible for what I purchased it for. Expected to find rides in the areas I travel, not so OR I just don’t know how to use it!!
  • Why can’t app remember sign in info? 4/5

    By hobbes8calvn
It’s annoying to have to sign every time I use REVER app.
  • Very disappointed 2/5

    By sickfrog
Upon much talk with other riders and close friends who have your app I Cancelled my subscription, your app has to many problems! Very clunky, doesn’t load, the pause/ start is a pain, trying to upload pics sucksYou should develop your product better before charging that premium.
  • Don’t waste your time 1/5

    By Rizatrip
Doesn’t allow you to really select a route unless you place tons of waystops. To do so you need premium. Google maps does as much as this including collect your information. Pass.
  • NOT good, Plain and Simple 1/5

    By Rever Hater
For the price of the app and the advertised map abilities etc this app comes up short big time. I opened it one last time to mess with it, but even though I paid for a subscription I plan on deleting the app. What a waist...
  • Maybe I should have restarted it? 1/5

    By The Real Gucci Mane
Edit: so I switched from 3 starts to 1 because you have to pay premium for turn by turn directions? Lmaooooooo I’m good. For some reason it didn’t show me turn by turn directions. The top of the screen was a white block (I’m assuming inside is where the “turn left here” message goes) and the bottom of the screen just stated where I was going. Wasn’t useful at all and it didn’t help that I only had maybe 3 1/2 inches of view in the map since the top and bottom was covered in white. Not only that but when it marked that I arrived at my destination it was way off. I was 2-3 blocks off my destination. Maybe I should have pulled over and restarted my app but I shouldn’t have to do that since I constantly kill background apps I don’t use. I’m sure this is a good app when it works but I’m going to stick to google maps from now on.
  • REVER 4/5

    By Setzerjennifer
Really liking the app, but went on a awesome ride and the app froze up, lost all of my track, so disappointed
