Perpetual error and failure to connect 1/5
This app is seriously a waste of time. I was able to connect to my tv once - went through every setting recommendation from manufacture and trouble shooting help suggestion, turned on and off multiple times, reset network various times- it recognizes my tv and network but fails to connect to the tv. Don’t understand. Guess my experience is consistent with most of the reviews on here. I seriously wouldn’t bother

I have a samsung smart tv. It is connected to my router and online programs work on the tv. I have an iPhone 6 and this app will not connect to my smart tv. It does nothing. I do not recommend buying a smart tv made by samsung, mine crashes all the time and this software program does not communicate with my sub par dumb tv.

Could not even get pass step one which is finding your device. There is not another screen you can go to or nothing but it literally says can’t find your tv. I’m on the same connection and reset it and connected again just to see and nothing happened. So what was the point in this app.
Tried with multiple uninstall/install but still same error “your tv should be on same network”.

Need to make sure all your devices are setup correctly with HDMI link and Anynet. Test your devices (Directv, PlayStation 4 Pro, Xbox One X, AppleTV 4K) thoroughly. Once completed down load this app and your phone literally becomes the Samsung remote. Great app to have when your Samsung remote goes MIA. Again everything needs to be properly connected and configured first or you will have issues.

You first need to set it up in this order
Connect tv to internet via Ethernet cable
Now connect TV to WiFi
Connect phone to Same WiFi
ACCEPT notification for external device
Change network connection to wired on TV
Test phone remote control with app.
Works like a charm. Iv only had to do it once.

I always have issues while using this app. If i was screen mirroring my pictures to the tv it will disconnect every time i change the picture.videos have same issue. Remote control doesn't work most of the time.

I didn’t heed the low rating, installed, found the network, found the tv, got a “ could not connect” error, spent forever waiting for everything to restart just so see a never ending “searching” notice in the app, and then regretted the wasted time so much I wrote this review to express myself— all I wanted was a way to turn my tv on and off- I can go to the Apple remote (that works) for everything else. Junk

If every time I use this app I need to figure out new network settings and maybe hook up an Ethernet cable then this app FAILS for me. It’s 2018, kind of used to things that are user friendly and you know, works.

This app does let my phone stream to my tv but in the app it never connects. It always says unable to connect make sure you’re on the same network. Trust me I am on the same network.....

The app is whack it does not do what it claims to do You CANT watch movies or shows. It doesn’t recognize apps like Netflix,DirecTV etc. there’s no option for this

This app is constantly disconnecting from the TV and unable to reconnect. Also fairy slow, not responsive.
I would remove the Samsung name from this product so no one would associate such a lame product with my company. Just a suggestion.

It’s all very basic, easy to use, I can’t figure out how to use Apple Music on this app as it won’t load and the creators won’t answer any email that you send them. I don’t know if this app just went downhill or something but I feel like this is actually a pretty good one.

Need I say more? This app needs to be completely redesigned... after every update its somehow worse. Constantly forgets my tv... asking to enter the pairing code but app doesn’t bring up the appropriate screen. Sad.

Doesn’t connect in any way, shape or form with my 2018 Samsung Smart TV. The Samsung remote app, on the other hand, connected immediately.

Was happy to find this app. I can now easily share photos from my iPhone. However, Live Photo’s do not work. There is no error reported, just doesn’t display.
Secondly, the iPhone 8 video resolution is not supported.
Please add support for these features.

If you download Smartview to your Pc to watch on your television and are running Windows 10, FORGET IT!!!
These apps are as useless as Samsung itself. And what really grinds my gears is they don’t care. They’ve Outsourced to the point that they don’t take responsibility for a crappy product.
No tech support for this app or the download version to computer. The Indians haven’t a clue. All they know is how to set your television. Possibly my last Samsung purchase!!
This app keeps losing connection to TV from laptop.
The only connections are of their choosing. YouTube etc. iPad cannot play RealTimes thru SmartView. Tech support is outsourced to India. Good luck understanding their English.

I recently purchased a Samsung 55mu8500. Great tv, but the remote app 99% of the time never connects. I’ve tried all the troubleshooting steps I can think of and the only time it works is the first time after re-installing.
The app does work fairly well when it works, but I never get to use it. Please make an update to fix this!

Honesty was expecting this to be a dud looking at some reviews, however this app is working as intended and is pretty seamless - almost works better than the actual remote that came with the tv (Series 8 Curved Samsung TV). VERY responsive, switching between apps is an ease, and you can even stream (owned) content on your phone! What I mean by that is your photos, videos, and music that you own on your iPhone. Also to clarify further, I say ‘owned’, because I’m building my Apple Music library, but it looks like I can only access the music I’ve paid for over the past few years through iTunes. Would be great if Apple Music could be streamed through the phone, but we have Spotify and other platforms that are supported with the tv and can still be controlled via this app. Although could use some additional work/add ons, but I’m already impressed. :) Kudos Samsung

As far as I can tell. When it’s not crashing there are literally 0 options for uploading photos to The Frame from phone. Customer service referred me to a YouTube video which illustrates the process using as Samsung phone wherein the app looks entirely different. Useless.

I think people who gave this a bad review were likely confused or had bad internet or crappy phone it wants you to use the wifi the smart tv is using which is your wifi (maybe) but it is a wonderful app

I think it's awesome that they updated the app from the original Smart View 1.0 but I still miss the Dual view. I was able to take my tv through the iPad and watch my tv in the kitchen or other rooms in the house. I really miss this feature.

C’mon Samsung. You make great TVs and electronics. Surely you can do better. This app is not user friendly at all. Every time I try to display photos, this app holds them hostage and refuses to show them OR it puts all the photos on the TV screen in a jumbled up, convoluted hot mess. No rhyme or reason. Not ideal for sharing photos from specific trips or events. It feels like I have to fight to get it to do what I want. The one thing I don’t mind too much about the app is its “mouse” feature, which certainly helps when I give up on showing photos directly from my phone and show them on my FaceBook through the web browser instead.
I’m looking forward to reading the next update notice and hope it says something about increased user friendliness.

Had high hopes for this but in 2018 they still can’t make remote controls better than in 1992.
Same Wifi network requirement is fine but it’s super laggy and freezes every single time i use it. Are beta testers still a thing? Not on this product.

Is worth doing right! Come on guys, please dedicate more resources to keeping this app up and running. It is a great feature for those of us who spent a small fortune on smart TVs from Samsung. Very upset I need to be on WiFi to use this. I use my phone for internet. I would like to screen mirror my iPhone like I did with my Note 8 without WiFi. Guess I’ll sell my Samsung smart tv and just buy an Apple TV.

I installed this on my July 2017 iPad Pro 12.9 with the hopes of watching stored videos on my Samsung Smart TV (55 inch 2015 model). When I tap the icon on the iPad it opens and the word “searching” appears and never goes any further. Please advise what I might do to fix this issue.
This app is complete garbage. It hasn’t worked for months. Never finds the TV on the same network I am linked to, yet my wife’s phone works just fine. Why is this app so hit or miss? It needs SERIOUS improvement.

Come on Samsung - either don’t publish an app or do it right. This app is a complete disaster. I’ve tried repeatedly to get it to connect with more Han an hour of tech support. Still nothing. Terrible experience for the samsung brand.
