  • Restore scrambles your camera roll 1/5

    I used the iXpand base to back all 6000+ photos on an iphone7 and an iPad Pro. After deleting my photos I attempted to restore them again. It did but but the file names and dates were changed putting everything into a big random mess. The camera roll is all random. You can still use Photos option to display the original date and time but since new file names were given when I run the backup again it creates duplicates of all my photos again doubling the photos backed up every time!! Also after successful backup of my iPad-pro it would never connect to my iPad again ! The backups are fast that is the only good thing about it! I waited a year for an updated app that would fix the problems with my iPad. Support had already replaced the iXpand base via RMA with the latest firmware, and still doesn’t work. It charges fine when I plug in the usb but that is all. The updated app still does not see the base when it is connected. Just and expensive iPad charger. The updated app says it added iOS 13 support, running now on my iPhone XR and iPad. Neither work now. Wait a year for an update and now it doesn’t work at all. I’ve lost all my backups thanks to this garbage! I give it negative 5 stars

    Since updating my iphone to IOS13, this base no longer functions. I called tech support and was told the engineer is working on it 🤔. What the heck am I to do in the meantime?!? The engineer did not anticipate a newer operating system??? Really?!?

    I can say worst gift I’ve ever received the Sandisk Ixpand Base. I emailed Sandisk in 2018 when I got this mess, took ever step they suggested. I said lets give it sometime and maybe they will come up with a fix. I was wrongggggg. It goes thru the process but no pictures appearing on the ipad. Getting the same message and same blah blah blah. “Backup was not able to finish! Please try again later”. 6 months later nothing changed. Amazing how it will work on one Apple product but not the other when both are listed as comparable and running 12.3.1. I would not suggest anyone purchase the Sandisk Ixpand Base non give it as a GIFT.

    Only 3 or 4 months into purchasing the product, and it already says I’m not connected. That’s after trying ALL of their troubleshooting solutions TWICE EACH! Frustrated beyond belief. But that’s fine. There are better companies, that actually care about their end products, out there.

    I am really enjoying this because I found photos on my phone I didn’t know I had! You can pop the sd card into a computer and pictures are sorted by year and month. The initial backup was slow so expect it to take several days if you have a lot of data like I did. Overall I’m super pleased.

    I’ll change my rating after question is answered. Everyone that gave 1-2 stars, read the license agreement before you use the app or software maybe then you won’t complain when something doesn’t work exactly as you expect it to. My question is, where does everything get backed up to? The license agreement, the information page, everything that I’ve looked at I cannot find where my pictures and messages will be uploaded and stored to. I know when I back up my iPhone it goes to the iCloud but when I back up using this application where does it back up to?

    I have purchased 4 bases to use with both iPhone 6plus and 7s. None of them work. I keep getting the can not connect with the base message. The phone charges through it but the app will not work.second time that I am downloading the app in hope that this will fix it. I am returning these 4 units to Amazon tomorrow!

    I’ve plugged and unplugged the base. I’ve plugged and unplugged the lightning cable. I’ve remove and then replaced the SD card. I installed and uninstalled the app. Multiple times. I keep getting the troubleshooting screen which tells me to do all the things that I’ve already done. Multiple times. I’m extremely unhappy with Sandisk, their app, their base and the whole experience so far. If it starts working, I’ll update my review. Also, Sandisk, put a light on the base that shows when the stupid thing is on. And maybe even 1 that shows that an backup or download is in process. But, more importantly, just make a product that works and add an instruction booklet to the box that covers things like troubleshooting in a little more detail than the online version and tells you the exact order you do things like printers do because, in that example, if you plug in some printers before downloading the driver, it won’t work and you have to start over. I followed the order of the pictures on the box. If I can’t get this to will go back to Amazon and I will post this review there as well. Buyer beware! I’ll be back to post more to this review whether it’s good or bad depends on whether the thing starts doing more than charging my phone. So far, it’s a whole lotta bad! Also, I just want you to know that I cleaned up my language to post this but the Base itself has heard a full swear jar of expletives. At this point, I’d have to empty the jar out to make room for the next round of trying to get this stupid thing to work.

    I am happy to find an easy way to keep my pictures and videos safe...... but, I been using 2 different IPhones to keep my husbands and my pictures safe. The only thing I don’t understand is why I am not able to see both of our pictures at the same time? Only when I plug each phone individually, is when I see the pictures. Is there a reason why is this happening or is this supposed to be this way? Please comment. Thank you!

    App continues to close down before I am finished. It removed all my photos from my iPad now I am attempting to restore them but app continues to closes before I can complete task. Have deleted app and reinstalled it and still having problems. Disappointed and now frustrated.

    Same thing others are saying. Worked the first time.... Backed up. Card was full I guess. Got a new card, and now it keeps telling me it is not connected. I think sand disc put this product out without testing it properly. We should all get our money back. Can’t use it!!!!

    I bought the 256 gigabyte. It works well. It will only copy photos, contacts, and videos. It would be more useful if copied more. Backups are slow.

    Awful. Just throw it away, in the outside trash can. Trust me, you don’t even want this thing in your house. It worked - barely worked - one (1) time. After the first time that I used it, it won’t connect to the app and now the app just crashes upon opening. Don’t waste your time with their elementary “troubleshooting” section. The suggestions are things you probably already did before even opening the troubleshooting section: ex, “force quit the app.” Oh really? Thanks! I hadn’t thought of trying that! (Spoiler Alert: They don’t work anyway.) You’d think a company that centers a large part of its product line around storage and back up could get something like this correct. They don’t. Don’t feel bad if you wasted your money on this product, you’re not alone. I just hope to save you some time in trying to get it to work. The only time you should commit to this pathetic piece of garbage is the amount of time it takes you to walk to the trash can and drop it in. Good work on the worthless product.

    The idea is great, but every time I try to use the device it says that it is not connected. I went through all the troubleshooting guidelines and still not able to connect. If I let the app sit open and wait for the recommended thirty seconds the app closes about 2/3 of the time. Again I thought that the idea of connecting my phone at night to charge and download my photos was a grand idea and if I could get it to work I would be happy. Alas, I am resigned to adding them via computer.

    The ixpand base can not establish a connection with the iPhone 8 Plus. Called tech support & they could not solve the problem. When it was original connected to iPhone 6s Plus the original backup took 10 hours and the connection was continuously lost during the backup and the backup had to be restarted. It would have been good it scan disk did more testing on this product before selling and marketing a product with so many problems.

    Warning. Does not back up all of the data on your phone like a normal iTunes backup. Only backs up contacts photos and videos. Does not back up your notes voice memos mail, files or other app data stored on your phone.

    I like the product. Backs up my pictures and videos very quickly. However the navigation of the software is cumbersome. When I select a picture from the thumbnail views to see it larger, I can't figure out how to get back to the thumbnail views without killing the app and restarting. Very frustrating. Beyond that is decent.
