I got this app for my Apple tv, it is so extremely frustrating to use. I’ve been trying to watch the last 10 minutes of a show for at least 30 minutes now because the app keeps kicking me out, and making me restart so I have to fast forward to where I was, and when I finally get to my spot, it continually freezes and rewinds until it kicks me out again. Luckily I’m on a free trial right now and not paying, but at this point if this is how the app is going to work I definitely will not go past the trial. It should not take close to 2 hours to watch a 50 minute show.

Doesn’t download, even though the app says it has that capability. Skips and crashes while streaming also. Yes, I updated iPadOS; current version of Showtime app also installed. Restarted the app—with swipe up feature of iPad. Restarted device. Shut down device. All to no avail.
Glitches make this app unusable 1/5
From searching online, I see I’m not the only user to experience constant skipping glitches on this app. Any show I try to watch, it’ll play for roughly 35 seconds, then loop back and play the same thing again and again.
I have 1000 mbps Wi-Fi. I have deleted and reinstalled the app multiple times, with the exact same results. I would love to watch the new original content on this platform but seemingly have no way to do so.

I got this app two days ago and have had nothing but problems. My show either stops after 5 minutes or it replays the same scene over and over. If I FF 10 seconds it’s fine for another minute or so and then the same. It even lost sound once. I’m constantly closing it out and refreshing. Way too much aggravation to watch my show. I am on Wi-Fi but that shouldn’t matter anyway, every other streaming app I have works just fine if I’m not on Wi-Fi. This is not a great into to the 30 day trial. I’ll probably cancel before they bill me. Really sad because I really wanted to keep it and watch dexter next.

I can’t make it through a single episode without the app glitching out. Sometimes it causes the show to skip like a broken record; other times, it shuts down in the middle of an episode.

First of all, showtime itself has a great selection; it has some of my favorite atm binging shows. But the problem is with the amount of glitches and issues this app has - it sometimes repeats the same 5 seconds over and over until it craps out completely. Or it just shows network issues and then I can’t resume the show/movie, even after shutting the app down manually. Amount of unfinished shows and movies are piling up on my list now and it’s really frustrating. Idk why showtime is having such a tough time with developing its app as all my other streaming platforms are working great. Shame really, coz it could be an awesome service otherwise.

This is the worst most joke of a streaming service app out of all of them which is baffling since its showtime.. i cant even find a way for help other than showtime claiming its my problem on my end when its theirs, just like many others are claiming. Im so disappointed that i have been paying monthly for an app that glitchy at best, and UNUSABLE at times.. while watching any show or movie you may or may not get interrupted with it stopping, loading and saying “cannot play title” or something of the sort. Then you close the app over and over and it wont let you resume that same title but will allow you to start a new movie or show but cant finish what you were watching. Id give it NO STARS if it were an option. I want a refund for the months that Ive had this unusable app and i will be canceling when I'm done writing this review unless something is done to fix it.

This app has recently and consistently received 1 star ratings for the exact same basic reason …it doesn’t work. Any competent developer would immediately address customer satisfaction issues by resolving ASAP.. You will see that the same issue is raised repeatedly by users - app freezes, crashes, can’t get thru show. Sort by most recent and you will quickly see what I am describing. The developer, if they respond, will cut and paste the same response- contact customer care, we are sorry you are disappointed, we want to work through this issue with you and your device. None of those extra steps should be needed if you have a reliable app that works! Whose going to pay for a subscription that you need to sit on a support call because the developer’s app doesn’t work? No one has time for such nonsense. I’m actually surprised this app is still available. Seems off with all the 1 star ratings that the ratings matrix isn’t updating reflecting the recent and consistent 1 star ratings.
Terrible for offline viewing 1/5
I was excited to try Showtime, but I have slow DSL internet at home, and typically download content when I’m at work and have good internet. Like others have said, downloading content is ridiculously slow. I can download Netflix, Amazon, HBO content in less than a minute. It take Showtime 2 days to download similar content. Then, the playback glitches - it will stop, or the sound will become several seconds off sync with the video. Not worth it, planning to cancel at the end of the month.
Doesn't resume shows and doesn't cast 1/5
Two big problems with the app: when I press resume episode it always starts from the beginning. Very annoying
Other problem is that every time I cast to my chrome cast and then turn off my tv and come back to it and try to cast again, the show never casts I need to reset the app

Good Shows, but Glitchy 3/5

I cancelled Showtime about a month ago hoping the glitches would be resolved after the New Year, but they seem to be worse now. I figured a month would be enough time for IT to fix the software issues, but I guess not. I’ve played Showtime on several devices (over the last couple of days) thinking it was my device, but it’s not the hardware, so it’s probably the app’s software.

This app is the worst, and I have all - and I mean, ALL - of the other streaming services. I'm constantly getting kicked out in the middle of a movie/TV show, and it takes 30 minutes of me opening and closing the app to get it to work again. It's very frustrating because I travel for work and rarely have access to a personal television. This doesn't happen with Netflix, Hulu, Disney+ or the other 5 services I pay for, so I know it's not a service issue. Please fix this.
I never write reviews, but this one is deserving. This app on Apple TV is AWFUL!! I just want to make it through a full episode or movie without it skipping, buffering, or shutting down. I’ve looked at your troubleshoot page and have done everything I need to do — LOOK AT YOUR REVIEWS! This is on your end, no one else’s. This many bad reviews about the same problem on multiple devices and services is not the customers fault. I pay for the service, get it together. Ridiculous.

I don’t have WiFi where I live, so I can’t stream any movies or tv. Normally I download while I am somewhere with WiFi access to watch later at home.
I signed up for Showtime through the app because of the new Dexter season, and have found other movies and shows I’ve really enjoyed on the app. Even though many things do not have the ability to download, which is disappointing (such as Misery).
For about a month, the app either won’t actually download anything, or not play it back later if it does actually download.
I have the most updated version of the app and am not sure what the problem is, but I’ll probably cancel my subscription and stick with Netflix and Hulu while Showtime and HBO get their acts together with their apps.
Cannot get through one episode without it glitching or skipping all over the place or going black screen. Multiple times I’ve reset my phone and deleted the app nothing fixes it.

Please review app performance on Apple TV. Shows freeze, get stuck at random moments and loop until the show crashes completely, then it restarts the show from the beginning, it’s pretty unwatchable for such a big platform.
Network error ALL THE TIME 1/5
WHY can’t I watch a single show from start to finish without 1,2, up to FIVE interruptions stating “network connection lost”?! I have full WiFi so it’s not on my end. I’ve also had the problem on multiple devices so it’s definitely Showtime’s fault. This company has been around forever. They have the money to fix this and I hope they do. If this continues I’m canceling my subscription and I’ll never renew it.

I have installed this app 3 times on 3 different devices. They will only show part of a show for 5 mins at a time then lock up and say next work error with showtime. I know it’s not my network because I have 5G and have fixed the settings accordingly. Please help!
Great shows bad app 1/5
I got showtime because I love the shows. I’ve bought it through my Amazon video account before but wanted to try out the stand alone showtime version. I was very disappointed. The image resolution is not consistent, the app crashes pretty regularly and the sound randomly turns on and off during shows. It’s very frustrating. ( it is not my internet connection as I tried my other streaming apps to make sure). I will be going back to my Amazon/showtime package deal. Hope they eventually figure out the bugs.
You should be ashamed of releasing app like this. Hot pile of garbage!
Worst streaming app ever 1/5
I have spent more time than I care to mention trying to watch Yellowjackets. It has been over 2 weeks and there are continual glitches with every episodes that cause it to stop and restart from beginning. One of the most frustrating experiences.
Unusable, just like everyone says 1/5
I have the same issue as everyone who’s written a review recently. Everything you try to watch starts skipping backward within a few minutes.
There is no watchable content in the app, and this seems to be an issue across all platforms and has been going on for a week.
Showtime, an ethical company would refund all of your streaming customers from the time this issue started until you have it completely resolved.
Cannot get through one episode of dexter without this app crashing 1/5
I recently got a showtime subscription and I can rarely finish an episode of dexter without some buttering time loop or the app not being able to connect. This is driving me insane as I just want to watch this show and have spent hours in loading screens and buffering while trying to watch this show. Needs to be a functional app for a solid review from me.
All this app does is tell you why you can’t watch anything 1/5
No matter what you do, whether restarting your phone or force closing the app. You can never watch an episode of anything without saying it’s famous line. Network Error Unable to Connect please try again. If it wasn’t for this the app would be good. But just this problem alone is ruining the app.

Periodically while watching a show I get an error message that states: network error and won’t play the show, or sometimes won’t play at all. I have attempted deleting and reinstalling, restarting my device, tried on 2 separate iPhones 11pro max and 13 pro max. Turning my wifi off then on again, making sure my internet connection is fast enough. And no dice. Also wish it had a skip intro option. But most frustrating is I can’t watch my show. And I would watch on my tv but it’s not a show I can’t watch around my kids so I’d rather just watch it on my phone.

I like the shows that Showtime is making. Their movies aren’t that great in my opinion but their original content overall has been highly entertaining. We really liked Homeland and Dexter.
The Showtime app unfortunately has been frustrating due to technical issues. When we watch “Homeland” on any device, it will randomly start looping a 3-5 second scene infinitely and then eventually the episode will crash. Other times the episode will just crash without looping.
It is very common for us to restart our Apple TV 1-2 times every episode of Homeland.
I looked on their website and they actually mention this issue and the fix is to just restart your Apple TV. That is unacceptable in my opinion. You can’t have an app where your customers are resetting their devices 1-2 times an episode, it just ruins the experience. No other streaming service I have tried has had this issue, which means it can be done. Get it done Showtime and earn that 5th star in my review!
Where do I start? 1/5
First of all navigating this app is terrible. Doesn’t compare to others. Fast forward and rewind is really bad. You can’t really tell how far you’re going, not like Netflix, HBO, Disney, Amazon, etc where you can scan the episode easily at various speeds backward and forward all while seeing exactly where you are. Not possible here. Only been a subscriber for a week and already tons of glitches on iPhone app, on Fire Stick, and on my 2021 LG Oled. Glitches across multiple devices and platforms mean that the problem is in the app. I’ve seen numerous other reviews about this problem too. Compared to all the other streaming apps, this might be one of the worse. I also tried downloading a few episodes hoping that would fix the glitches and repeating a section issue, but a downloading takes forever! This thing needs some serious work.

Absolutely Terrible 1/5
This is the absolute worst streaming app I’ve ever used. I couldn’t get through more than a minute or two of any episode of the show I was trying to watch before it started to glitch, then eventually fail.
I’d be watching, then out of nowhere, the show started looping. The same 8-10 seconds would play and repeat about 3 times, then a network error would pop up and say the episode is unavailable. This happened with every movie or show I attempted to watch.
To troubleshoot, I switched back and forth between Wi-Fi and cellular streaming, restarted my phone several times, and deleted and reinstalled the app twice. I tried for a solid 45 minutes before I giving up.

I had showtime anytime and never had any issues.
We cut the cable cord and upped our bandwidth to a over a gig a second. Added Showtime app through Paramount +.
The Showtime app on Apple TV has not played any movie or show for more than 10 min.
It keeps closing the program I am watching and reverts to the Home Screen.
This is the worst user experience of all of the streaming apps. So very disappointed with Showtime and this experience.
Down Detector shows it is up but all of the comments are similar to my experience. You can get to your program but the app will not play it for you.
Please fix this as I love Showtime programming.

So they take your money, and then you are unable to watch anything on the app. And then they tell you the fees are non refundable. Showtime are crooks. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS APP. You will be disappointed, think I’ve started almost every movie/show on this app. They’ve all timed out and say they can’t connect to the server. And for some reason Showtime doesn’t think this constitutes a refund. They can just take your money, and provide no working service. The American way I guess. If I could give it no stars I would.
Skipping and stopping 2/5
I was loving this app for two weeks. Within the past two days every video skips and pauses. I am trying to download the show to avoid that and the download is stuck at 25%. The content in Showtime is amazing, but the app needs to be updated to avoid these issues.

I started using this app on my Apple TV to catch up on Dexter and Homeland. It will constantly stop and send you back about 10 seconds in the show. So I tried loading the app on my Samsung smart tv with the same result.
Struggled with multiple shows 1/5
It has been so frustrating to have a spinning wheel all throughout playback. I have even tried to delete the app and put it back, and I can not get through a single show without pauses, having to start a show from the beginning and never getting to the end of an episode. I double-checked by watching other apps, and all was just fine.

Can’t get through an episode 1/5
I’m trying to watch Dexter and I can’t get through one episode without multiple glitches. It will either skip backwards like a broken record, replaying the same 5 seconds over and over, or it will freeze or just go black. I either have to wait for it to start working again or switch between watching on my tv and iPad just to finish one episode. The same thing keeps happening on both. I know it’s not a network issue on my end bc no other streaming service is having trouble connecting or streaming. I tried downloading the episodes to see if I could watch it all the way through that way, but it won’t download either. If this doesn’t get fixed soon, I won’t have showtime anymore. It’s not worth paying for if I can’t actually watch something all the way through.
UPDATE: Responding with “let us troubleshoot with you” won’t fix the problem. The problem isn’t on my end. It’s obviously a problem on your end bc if you look at the reviews, especially the recent ones, everyone is having the exact same problem. The few recent 5 star reviews all say the same thing (“Dexter/Showtime is the best!”) and I’m starting to wonder if those are even real people reviewing this app or you guys trying to keep your rating up.
Worst streaming platform 1/5
As most users have already noted, the Showtime platform is terrible. Whether it’s the mobile app, on tv, or online, it always seems to crash constantly. Not to mention the UI hinders the UX completely, to the point that having to delete and reinstall just to get it to “connect to the network” is reason alone to cancel the subscription. Nothing is intuitive more easy to find. Did they even user test before rolling out the product?! It’s a shame because there is a ton of great content but it’s almost not worth it. I eagerly expect an update/revamp soon enough, but I’m not holding my breath.
Canceled subscription but still being charged?! 1/5
I canceled my subscription before the seven day trial period ended but even months later I’ve still been charged 9.99 per month even though I have no subscription with you all at all. Please resolve this. I won’t recommend this app at all
