Ok but not impressed 3/5
By Lesya Pi
The app helps the most with tracking intermittent fasting periods, but it forces you to either be in fast or eating at any given moment, and editing the timeframes of fast vs eating is not available or difficult through the UX, so you end up with poor data (I e 20 hours of fast if you forgot to log in your last meal).
The new food logging upgrade is TERRIBLE 1/5
They need to give the flexibility of being able to write your own foods in. The "scanner" used is always wrong. The food choices make it impossible to have an accurate account of what you're eating.
Great app, bad update 1/5
Overall this has been a fantastic app that I use daily to help me with intermittent fasting. And normally I would highly recommend! But the new way of tracking food defeats the entire purpose of intermittent fasting. Previously, you would pick from a list of general categories for food and also include information like where you ate, why you did, etc. But, on top of being simple information it was all options! Now, they want you to pick from an exhaustive list of very specific food items (think like, what type of sandwich are you eating, plus what types of sides, etc.) that still managed to exclude things. But worst of all, they want you to include the exact measurement of how much of each item you ate! Part of the appeal of intermittent fasting is being able to eat what you want, within reason, in the time period, and this feels like intense calorie counting. Worst of all, you can’t choose to not log anything, so you’re forced to input something, resulting in me often just clicking the first option available to avoid the hassle…which means I have nothing useful to look back on. If this doesn’t change soon or give the option to go to a more ‘simple’ version of Simple, I’ll likely be moving to another fasting app. Please update this!
Needs Improvement 3/5
I chose this app to support my fasting journey by responding to an ad. Bad idea. I should have researched and compares with other apps. First off, there is very little personalized information and zero coaching. Many of the messages I’ve gotten are completely off-for example, today I got “You ate bread for breakfast.” I had not even eaten breakfast. There is a food tracking feature which is encouraged, but extremely frustrating. It has lists of food to choose from which are a) not organized at all and b) don’t make sense-meaning some very common foods are missing or duplicated (salad/leafy greens) while less common (dumplings, candy) are available. Finally, make sure you search for discount coupons before purchasing the app. If I hadn’t done this, I would have paid twice as much. I see some improvements, such as updating the food list, but overall I was expecting more.
No different than any other food tracking app 2/5
They hook you via Instagram paid ads that promise you chats based off BMI or age to indicate your fasting strategy when none of that is actually on the app. The app just includes alarm clocks to remind you to start fasting which I can do on my own. And offers food/water logs & insights articles that are no different than the other apps out there. There are better apps out .
Ripped me off for $79 AGAIN 1/5
I am outraged by having received another charge of $79 after previously cancelling the app. I see many other users have had this happen. You say that we need to address this through Apple, yet the app does NOT appear in the subscriptions either in active or expired. I expect this charge to be refunded or I will take legal action.
Shady business practice 1/5
DO NOT BUY. DO NOT TRY unless you’re ready to deal with their headache! No one appreciates deceitful people yet this app does it all. Clicking on their “trial” means monthly subscription of $79. Don’t even try, it’s stupid, and even more difficult to cancel. Conveniently doesn’t show in your Apple subscription list. Not sure how they got away with that but they’re that good at stealing people’s money. Unauthorized charges monthly.
Awful App Support, charged w/o consent 1/5
I started a free trial and quickly realized I did not want to continue to use nor tryout app. I emailed their customer support team, asking for assistance with cancelling my trial and pending (once trial ended) subscription. They responded with a automated message, and have not responded since. I have since been charged 79.99, I haven't been able to cancel my account nor get a refund, and STILL no one has responded to my emails. I work for a small team that handles customer complaints, so I understand a backlog for responses, but it’s been a month since I initially emailed them. I’ve since emailed them 3 other times, and still no response. This review is more so a plea to get help from the Simple customer service team. Please help with my refund and cancellation of my subscription.
Starvation diet 3/5
I understand the theory but what we eat is where I need to start. In two months I’ve gained 2 lbs. So this isn’t working for me. The app works fine and is good for tracking, like carrying a journal on you phone.
Great app, interface changed for the worse 1/5
Can we go back to the east food logging interface we had just a few days ago? I love that the app isn’t a calorie tracker and all of a sudden it’s making you log amounts of food and calories? AND you removed the features that had you logging where/why you were eating? The mindful logging is the best part, why would you remove that??
Can I go back to the old interface? It was working for me. This went from a 5* app to a 0* app that’s just another calorie counter
This APP offers a “free trial”. The subscription shows as not active in the app and account yet they STILL charged $79.20 and I don’t have access.
Self-tested #1 best FASTING app by far! 5/5
I used this app 6 months ago and easily lost 13.7 lbs in 14 days (about 1 lb per day). I then had foot surgery which made me immobile for 8 weeks and unfortunately I stopped using the Simple fasting app while I healed. Of course it didn’t take long to gain all the weight back once I stopped using the Simple Intermittent Fasting App and not logging my meals/water intake. I didn’t freak out though because I knew how easy it is to get back into shape using this app. I’m now back on the app and losing the weight again at a rate of about 1 lb per day. As long as you don’t cheat you WILL lose body fat immediately. Before coming back to ”Simple’s” app, I sampled ALL of their top five competitor apps and NONE of them even came remotely close to comparing to the Simple Intermittent Fasting App. Simple gives their users a LOT more dietary, biophysical and psychological information to help us understand the process and they do it in a way that’s fun, colorful, and intriguing, but not too overwhelming. Other competitors’ apps, just throw a whole bunch of boring text at you and you feel like you’re reading a long boring overwhelming science book. The Simple app gives you short, colorful bursts of relevant information from world-renowned experts, then occasionally quizzes it’s users and asks pertinent questions to keep their users pleasantly engaged in the process. Nicely done! I’m a level-7 Google Local Guide and I research products to death before I commit to them. I guaranty you should try this Simple Intermittent Fasting app FIRST because it truly is the “Gold Standard” benchmark upon which all the other copy-cat fasting apps should be compared to. All the other apps fall well short of this robust app that NEVER has any glitches and performs exactly as advertised. All the other apps are just trying to mimic this app but just can’t do it because they’d get sued for copyright infringement if they tried to copy Simple’s app. Great job Simple!!!!
Needs Help 2/5
Unfortunately I already paid for this one. I can’t recommend this to anyone while it’s this difficult to use. It’s time consuming, not easily customizable and no interactive ability what so ever. I like the little tutorials, but they’re just that “little.” I feel a little less than smart for buying this.

Not worth anything
How do you track each meal? 1/5
Confusing app. Dry disappointed. Where are instructions about HOW to enter each meal for the day? Your app does not have a section for breakfast lunch or dinner. My lunch and dinner photo showed same photo when the meals are not the same in same day.
I just paid for your app and workbook. So far not impressed because of poor navigation and instructions about how to enter drosfste meals and snacks.
What is your refund policy
By Suami Ali
They gave me a refund highy integrity company.
Be wary 1/5
This app is limited for logging food if you want to track what you are eating. I have used free apps that are much much better. It is good for letting you know when to eat and when to fast but is expensive if that is all you do with it. Be wary of trying to cancel the subscription. It is hard to navigate and I thought I had cancelled but they say I didn’t. Expensive mistake.
It’s not free 3/5
By Teacher Renee
I just went to sign up and there are only 3 options—all which cost.
AM APPS LTD is a sham company 1/5
I cancelled this app within ONE DAY of signing up for the trial program after changing my mind and 10 days later, they STILL billed me $79.20 through Paypal. I have contacted them THREE times and still have not been refunded.
Do not even “try” this app out! 1/5
Wanted to do a trial for the smaller fee. I was barraged with offers to “save money” by doing a 3 month subscription. I should have known better than to subscribe before checking out the reviews!! This company has charged me: $9.73 for the trial, $43.60 for the first 3 months, and $43.60 for a 2nd 3-month period. The app is not for me. I emailed them, asking for them to cancel the subscription. They gave me instructions to cancel it within the app. Their instructions do not work. It doesn’t give me the “cancellation” option. I have emailed them 3 times. They are not responding. I doubt I’ll get a refund—but ALL I WANT IS THE SUBSCRIPTION CANCELLED before they charge me for another 3-month period. What a rip-off business practice! Word of advice: ALWAYS check the “most recent” reviews on the app. It will give you a clear picture on how the company operates.
Customer Service 1/5
Emailed customer service FEB 27 got a respond MAR 16 so hopefully you have no issues.
I agreed to the trial… then canceled a week later and they charged me $79.20 after I cancelled and won’t refund me!!!!
It’s a scam 1/5
This app didn’t accept my cancellation and charged me again anyway. It wasn’t useful even if the app did work given you can fast without multiple reminders or watching the in-app cartoons. They’re just banking on customers forgetting to cancel or continue to charge those who do cancel (like me).
Stay away 1/5
By Suresh Sirigineedi
Couldn’t cancel in the app.. sent them an email.. did not cancel was charged.. now sent them three emails and no response so far.. fraud
I did a free trial and cancelled because I found no use in this app. Have been charged $79.20 twice since cancelling. DO NOT give them your information.
Not worth paying for 1/5
I paid $30 for 3 months of this service only to get notifications about a bunch of kindergarten level articles. Drink more water, etc. It’s a glorified timer. If you can read a clock and use the internet, this app is useless. Maybe I had too high of expectations but I’m kind of floored that they are selling this at all. Just set your own fasting hours and use MyFitnessPal for free to count calories etc.
They scammed me 1/5
By Simple Stinks
This app is a scam. I bought the $1 free trial and then after they took that charge, they told me to verify my email through a link they “sent.” I never received it. I double checked my spelling and checked my spam folder, nothing after repeated attempts to resend the verification email. I began reaching out to customer service and im convinced they are physically impossible to get in touch with. Ive sent 10 emails and have gotten nothing back except for automated messages that include no information. I am unable to access my account without the link they were supposed to send, so after 10 days I was charged $79. It has been 12 days so far and I have still made no progress. I am disputing the charge with my bank tomorrow. If that doesn’t work, I am pursuing legal action.
Terrible communication difficult to cancel 1/5
I had high hopes trying this app. It doesn’t log food correctly. It has a very minimal library of food to select from so you have to input everything yourself and look up the calories. In the end I realized I can use My Fitness PAL and an alarm in my phone. When I went to cancel they made it super complicated and when I sent an email I still haven’t received a response OVER A WEEK LATER. Save your money don’t bother.
Pffffft - took my money 2/5
I am a deflated balloon and totally distracted from using this app. I was presented with signing up for a year-long membership for $48. I was charged for the $1 trial and another $58 membership
When I realized what happened (I found myself in a cascade of clicking to join-shame on me for paying money to join, I suppose) I contacted the customer service via email provided and now I’ve gotten no response
IOS is providing very similar tools (outside of the infographics and incessant notifications - I am kind of miffed
That said, the gui is pleasant and easy to burn time on . I used simple in the past to guide myself back into intermittent fasting and enjoyed it- this time I’ve been super frustrating.
Reset starting point 4/5
I can't figure out how to reset my starting point to this Monday the 13th. I am at a wake and funeral and Simple keeps yelling at me. Help
Great for a seasoned faster getting back on track 5/5
By New Advent
It’s a lot to tracking its true but I like how it tells me the phase of the fast. I like how it makes me intentional about what I eat, where I eat it and with whom.
Rating is for business practices 1/5
By The Aunt
The app’s diet program may work for you. It is unhealthy for me. When I discovered that (within about 20 minutes of signing up) I tried to avail myself of the “cooling off period” to get a refund. I got the literal run around on how to get a refund for two days (and lots of sales pitches about why staying was better even though I told them for my health this is not appropriate). At the end of that they’re still denying my refund. But hey, I can use this entirely unsafe program for 3 months! No. Follow your own rules or expect a charge back from my credit card and a complaint to the FTC board of consumer protection. Stay away. A bargain is not a bargain if the people you’re partnering with are unscrupulous and don’t actually care about your health.
By Impossible to get a refund
Buyer beware. The premium version of this app is $59.40, which is a ridiculous amount of money for only 3 months. If you have a subscription, it renews automatically and DOES NOT send you any kind of notification prior to the renewal. The only way to get a refund is to cancel within 30 days of the INITIAL purchase and you have to show proof that you used the app for 15 consecutive days. My subscription just renewed, but I lost my job last week. I have begged them for a refund so I can buy food, but they have no compassion and said no. Don’t get caught with a subscription for this app.
The list food is ridiculous 3/5
If you eat healthy you will not find your foods on this app. What the heck is a “fat bomb” and who would eat it?
Not worth the money 1/5
100% could get the same out of this app as you would with a timer…. Do not buy. It is 60bucks for the year and 30for three months. It’s a joke of an app for that money. Don’t get taken like I did!
Predatory Subscription Fee during Signup 1/5
Please be careful when signing up for this app and read the fine print. You decline the subscription and they offer you a discounted price but it’s actually for a workbook pdf and not discounted subscription they will charge your account after a week. Totally Predatory!!!!
Scam. Be warned. 1/5
They charge you after your trial period and will keep charging you as long as you’re not paying attention. When you contact customer support they ignore you. You must have your credit card reverse the charges.
They will trick you and are not transparent 1/5
I was unable to manage my subscription on the App Store after downloading the app. They charged me when I wasn’t expecting it and refused to give a refund. They were rude.
As far as the app use goes most of the food I ate was not able to be identified in the food log and I couldn’t accurately track my meals. It sent my phone too many notifications and eventually tune it out! They have friendly automated messages but their customer support team was not friendly. They are not willing to give you a refund unless you meet very specific criteria and it is not worth your time or stress! They are not transparent or understanding and are just taking too much money for a service you can get for free on many other apps! DONT WASTE YOUR TIME OR INVEST YOUR MONEY IN THESE SCAMMERS
Go read the actual reviews on trust pilot. This company with auto renew and charge you even after you cancel your subscription
Beta Food Tracker is Terrible 1/5
My wife has this app and couldn’t stop talking about how much she liked it so I decided to give it a try. Not only did I download and install it I also paid for the premium subscription for the entire year.
One of the features that my wife really liked was the food tracker. When she logs food on her version she gets a series of prompts the makes it really easy to keep track of what you’re eating and gives tips based on what you log.
Unfortunately my experience was the complete opposite. When I log food I get a blank form with a single input and the option to take a picture. When I start to type there are no prompts and it is the equivalent of typing what ate into a text editor which doesn’t provide much value. In addition, if I opt to take a picture of what I ate there is no functionality that attempt to detect what it actually is - it’s simply a picture in journal. The picture functionality also can’t detect bar codes making this functionality completely useless.
I reached out to the support team and reported my findings and their response was that I had been selected for the beta version of the app and there wasn’t anyway for them to rollback my version to the current release.
When compared to the version my wife bought - just three days earlier - this app leaves a lot to be desired. With the new updates, I can’t recommend this app, unfortunately.
easy to use
-100 if I could!!!! 1/5
This company is absolutely ridiculous. You do not care about your customers whatsoever. I tried the ‘trial period’ and it says you can pay whatever you feel. I paid $1. It said my trial expired on February 28, 2023 at 1:08 P.M. I emailed this company after I believe 4 days because I didn’t like the app and I reached out to make sure they would NOT be charging me for a subscription! Andrew answered my email and assured me I would not be charged. He also directed me to the ‘Me tab’ in the app to make sure under manage subscription I was not subscribed. I followed the directions….. obviously I did not have a subscription yet because I was only 4 days into the trial period. Well you would think since it said I had no subscription that I would not be charged after the trial period. WRONG!!! I was charged $79.99!!! On February 26! I immediately sent an email to their customer support and attached a photo of the charge on my credit card. Well guess what! NO RESPONSE. I tried reaching out from their website also. Tried a few days later as well once again no response. I emailed them again and told them I would dispute the charges since no one will respond to me. I also called PayPal and disputed it with them as well. Today is March 8, 2023 and I STILL have not received any response….. this is absolutely ridiculous. If I have to I will report to BBB. The absolute disrespect and disregard is atrocious. Yes I received the automated reply email saying they received my email but no actual response. I want my money back TODAY!!!!!!
Poor app performance 1/5
I enjoyed using until the app until it would log you out of your account. The “sign in” feature did not work either as it prompted me to create a new account each time, which was very frustrating as I had paid for the subscription.
Money trap-privacy and data collection policy shared after payment 1/5
By pay befor policy ????
Reply to enquiry about my request ticket number. I have no ticket number. I only got automatic reply saying “message received!”. So please just reply to emails. It’s unhelpful that you only reply to public messages so far. Update a week after: I only received a “sorry” message here but no reply to my direct inquiries. Now they automatically charged me an extra $79.20!!! Nobody is helping with my unsubscribing and reimbursement. One can only unsubscribe from this trap after accepting their in private privacy agreement and give all personal information. This is a ridiculous! Previous note: Only after you payment (at least $1 for a trail) you can see the data policy asking for all personal information.
Would use, but app is unreliable on my phone 2/5
I had to fill in information about myself six times because each time I opened the app, it forgot who I was. I could not manage anything without going back into the app and starting all over. I am super frustrated by this.
This may be a concern just with my phone. It’s an iPhone 8+. But because of this concern, I cannot use the app. I had to cancel my trial.
It seems like a good program. I wish I could participate.
Money $$ 1/5
My baking account was charged three times in less than 34 hours and I want a refund immediately!
Stole My Money 1/5
I canceled my subscription before the renewal date and even have a screen shot of the confirmation. They charged me anyway and are now giving me the run around. Their “support team” is giving me canned emails with instructions on how to cancel my subscription but I’ve already done that. Also they are sending emails with links that don’t connect to anything. It’s a joke. I’m glad I paid through PayPal so I can escalate it there.
Stay Away 1/5
Would you like to pay 80$ for 6 months of an alarm to tell you when you can eat?!? They make you pay a dollar to sign up for the service then charge you 80$ a week later without letting you know. When you try to get a refund you get rude canned responses. I couldn’t select 0 stars.
Not Worth the Price 2/5
I have tried a few different apps to help me stay on track with my food and fasting. I was super excited during the trial and thought that it would get even better with the paid subscription… That is not the case! The lack of ability to actually add new foods to accurately keep track of your calorie intake makes this app obsolete. Especially if you’ve already had success with fasting on your own. If I wanna track my food, I have to use MyFitnessPal and that’s FREE. This app could be a really great tool, but as it is right now, it is horrendously over priced.
