New hub and app works great so far. I had to call how to pair my devices to my new hub. A simple solution that doesn’t explain on how. Exclusion options is found in the hub menu. Overall happy so far.
New App Needs Work 3/5

I have recently migrated over from Iris by Lowes to STT for 3 different locations. The recent update in the app has some bugs in the iOS platform that need to be resolved. First, the app shows no device activity at all. Another family member has the app on a Samsung S8 and it displays all device activity properly. It does not on my iPhone. Second, as others have mentioned, the app should have a setting for notification tone selection. Without a setting within the app, Apple devices default to a short notification tone and display which is inadequate for a security notification. Third, and less important, the locations have an option to change colors to differentiate them. Unfortunately, after changing respective colors, they all change back to pink when the app is subsequently opened. Again, this occurs on my iPhone. If these 3 improvements would be made, I could give this app 5 stars.
Network times out 2/5
I’m disappointed with this app as main reason I bought all Samsung kitchen appliances as part of my kitchen remodel was to be able to monitor remotely and turn oven on for pre heating. I receive all notifications when I physically start, cancel or cooking job is finished. However every time I attempt to access my appliances from the app the network always times out. Would appreciate if this error could be fixed as it defeats the purpose of “smart” appliances if can’t use the app.

I have the Samsung fridge with the AKG speaker and the Samsung DW80M9960US dishwasher. The app doesn’t work with either Samsung appliance now. In fact, the dishwasher doesn’t work at all and it’s 2 months old. The app itself is good but I’m not impressed with the entire line anymore. I really tried to like it. The fridge is great, I love it. The dishwasher worked awesome when it works but now it doesn’t.
I was able to connect internally on my WiFi for awhile. Then Wi-Fi stopped working. The fridge couldn’t connect to the dishwasher anymore (which sounds crazy I know but it should). I couldn’t connect to either device on WiFi. Shut off WiFi and I was able to connect to both over cellular data. Now can’t connect to either any way I try. I scoured the internet for router settings and ports to open and couldn’t find anything that would help. I give up.
App works good with other products like my Hue, Wemo, and Ecobee thermostat...just not it’s own brand 🤷♂️.

Lack of Landscape mode isn’t SmartThing at all! 2/5
I can’t believe it’s still locked to portrait on Tablets! It’s ok for phones, but 95% of the time we are using the a Tablet it’s on landscape mode, therefore it’s frustrating and very disappointing to request such trivial functionality.

This app works great. I wish it was positional though. I have having to say “turn on upstairs lights” or what ever I called it. I wish when I walked into a room it knew I was there and when I said light it turned on just that light in the room. Other than that I like it.

This is the only smart appliance app I have that ever has issues. Sometimes you can connect to the appliances, but often times it just times out. I have a top of the line router and full strength in all rooms that have appliances. I love Samsung appliances, but we won’t buy any more until they take their software seriously.

I’m using IOS latest update. I’ve only used the tv remote portion of the app.
*This is a nice remote control app. Easy to set up and to use.
*This is my go to app when I can’t find the actual remote.
*You can turn off your tv or adjust volume from anywhere in the house.
*App crashes a lot leaving me back to my phones home screen.
*There should be an actual keyboard function for typing.
*With so many features- it would be nice if when opening the app it would go back to the last feature used... I’m only using the remote control yet every time I open the app I have to navigate to the remote.
*Wallpapers are so plain. I should be able to choose a random picture from my device.
Even with the con’s- I would still recommend this app as a backup remote.
Still missing essential features of Classic smartthings 1/5
Love to be giving this a 5 star review as the app & on whole automations are working much quicker, but it is still missing essential home automation features the classic app has/had.
Unfortunately those missing features are showstoppers. For some boneheaded reason auto-unlock on smartlocks based on presence sensor is missing. I guess thankfully at least auto lock is there, but why only go 1/2 way. Also SHM can’t change modes via presence sensor! Really?! What’s the point of it then?
Maybe the most #1 home automation activity is lock control besides light control. How this is still missing is beyond me!

We always wondered who’s using our access code, who’s coming in and out at night, why is this broken or this left a mess...well now we know. The ease of use of this hub is amazing and we’re excited to make the rest of our business “smarter”.
Before the new update I loved this app it worked perfect with my Samsung TV, that my dog chewed up the remote; so this app worked perfect. After the new upgrade it seems to only work for a few seconds then the screen will flash, then none of the buttons work, REALLY frustrating.
Wasn’t great before, HORRIBLE now 1/5
There were lots of kinks with the app prior to the latest update with the new formatting. It literally does not work now. I get no notifications. It doesn’t recognize my phone. The homepage won’t stay the way I set it. Yes I have all my notification and locations setting correct. This is terrible, terrible app update. I hope SmartThings fixes these issues stat. If you’re thinking of buying a SmartThings hub, don’t. Not until they fix this app.

I have a series 7 tv (55”). I was really hoping to get rid of the remote completely. However after I loaded the app, the first thing I wanted to do is turn the TV on. The app tells me to go find the remote control and turn the TV on. So, for me the whole idea of having an app on my phone is to get rid of the remote control. This really doesn’t help.
Once it’s on, it is a decent app.

Very limited usage , only turning tv on and off. And turning tv on doesn’t work not sure why.
Other apps like “Samsung smart view” have more options , it can even open apps and control apps like searching in Netflix and so on. Makes one wonder, since it is not a tv limitation (other apps example) why would smart things limit these options !

I use is app with our fridge. It keeps dropping the connection to the app (I can access the internet from the fridge, so it’s not a network problem). I keep getting an error that says either the power cord is not connected (how can that be when the fridge is working and displaying the message). I’ve had the fridge for 14 months and this is the sixth time this has happened. Frustrating.
Before this new update I had my Samsung Q9 connected and it work perfectly. Now with this new update, I try and auto detect my TV and it just reaches 37% and that's it. It won't find it! Why try and fix something that is working the way it should and break it! Now I have to download another app because this one doesn't work for my TV anymore! So annoying!!!!
Update!!! Everything is back to normal and the app is working as should!!! So happy!!!!

The old app was intuitive and easy to use. The new version is exactly the opposite. I can’t find anything. This is confusing and hard to use. Wish I’d never updated. Despite the developer response my statement still stands. Nothing about this update is intuitive. I just spent 30 minutes trying to figure out how to set away mode.
Also I just discovered that when connected to my vehicle having the app open changes the audio sound streaming from my phone.

One suggestion would be if device history would keep a log sheet of events throughout the day. Like when a door was opened or when motion was detected last. The app would be perfect with that feature.
HORRIBLE app and products 1/5
I have had nothing but issues with my Samsung appliances. We shelled out extra money for the WiFi, which was a complete waste of money. The only one that will connect to the smart things app, is my fridge. Even that only works half of the time. My dishwasher and range will not connect to the app. The range won’t even come close, and the dishwasher says it’s successfully connected, but won’t show in the app at all. I expecting WAY more, after shelling out $6,000 on these appliances. Sadly, I guess expecting them
and the apps advertised to use with them to work, is expecting too much.

I started with a fee devices but now I have many. It is trully a Smart House. The Smartthings works Great with a few as well as many. The lateksy software upgrade was Real improvement. I love that I know what oś going on in my House where ever I am
App says that my 5 series tv needs turned on with the remote, even though the tv is set to “turn on with mobile.” Samsung customer support told me the 5 series doesn’t have that feature. Strangely, I can set it on or off in “settings, network, expert settings.” Tv remains connected to WiFi when off but app stops turning it on after a few minutes and says the tv is disconnected.
This app was working 60% of the time with my tv, didn’t work with my refrigerator, washer and dryer, range, oven or exhaust fan. Now after update i can’t even get tv to be recognized.
The previous version was awfull but this one is much worse. No chance you can turn on the TV with app. Most of the time TV shows as disconnected. Also once time changes to summer time the app automation turns on and off at old time. Also sometimes automations work sometimes not. Very very bad for big company

Using one series back ofSamsung hub & it works great! Samsung still hasn’t tied the “ classic” & the newer one as yet. They need to so I can use different device setups and n the newer app, like you can with the old. I have Samsung appliances and the synergy between devices doesn't work consistently, like they should. I’ve tried to use their support email help & so far it’s been poor at best. Overall I’m very happy with Samsung, just wish the appliances would “ talk” together properly!

This is a better UI, but it's missing a lot of the autmation features based on current state of the security system. I cannot disarm my system in the morning like I used to. It's not disarming my system when I arrive at home. I cannot unlock my garage door when I arrive at home. A lot of autmation features are missing. I would recommend using the classic app until they add all these features in. Missing these features have caused a lot of trouble some for me. I accidentally set off my alarm system because I thought it was going to disarm like before.

Before Samsung tookover, my v1 hub was fast, responsive, and devices would reconnect automatically, or never drop off. I bought newest hub, using latest software, and continually have issues with ST devices saying “Disconnected”. Now I have to pull the battery on each random thing to reconnect. Lights are so slow now too. Terrible app and hardware.
No way to get pictures from iPhone app into ambient mode 1/5
One of the selling points of my Samsung Q65 is that you can put pictures from your phone onto the TV and use it as a virtual picture frame. Unfortunately, the upload functionality in the app has critical bugs that don't allow it to work. Would probably be half a day's worth of work for an engineer to fix this.

Doesn’t connect, bad customer service 1/5
I bought this product to replace the Iris hub from Lowe’s. When I hooked it up it would not connect to any of my devices. Online and in app helps were not helpful. Contacted clinical support at Samsung a week ago and have yet to hear from them. No call in center, only support is by email and they don’t respond. Don’t waste your time or money with this crappy system
