SmartThings app reviews

  • Keeps signing out 3/5

    By Eric Cirone
Just got the new iPhone 11 pro with iOS 13 and throughout the day I’m randomly signed out. Not great.
  • Good 5/5

    By Keevoin
    Good
  • Hub visibility on the app 1/5

    By Omega606
After the latest update the hub itself is not visible on the app. All the connected devices are visible, not the hub. Need fixing!
  • I love it 5/5

    By BIMMER750LI
    Good product!
  • Ok layout, lack functionality 2/5

    By Hammer4000
I had just recently downloaded the new app, luckily I still kept my classic app. I am not even going to go into the more involved automation because I couldn’t even get past a basic automation of setting my home to “Good night” mode like in the classic app. The IFTT does not allow to set up “If” at a particular time Then “arm” but has “arm” as a trigger to control other devices. This to me is not automation. There are other short comings I don’t have time getting into. But my suggestion will be for the developers to keep all the functionality in the classic apps and make them available in the new app and maybe better not the other way around.
  • Interesting app but......... 3/5

    By ChiCornman
An improvement over the SmartThings classic. However, if it runs on an iPad pro i am amazed that there is no landscape mode. VERY annoying!!!!!!!
  • Life saver 5/5

    By kayleenrenaeg
Life Saver when we can’t find our remotes .
  • Nice 5/5

    By cheaky.boy
Nice and easy way to control your technology in 1 simple device
  • Great app 5/5

    By Over-rated Cece
This app is easy to use. The layout of the app is seamless and easy to move through
  • Error 1/5

    By Crushey
There is a server error message that can’t be deleted!!
  • Great app 5/5

    By Dagasp
I have enjoyed the app so far. It is easy to use and full of great features. When I had problems support was right there to help.
  • Add keyboard? 4/5

    By Sam Nikka
Maybe add and keyboard feature so you can type in movies?
  • Not as funtional 4/5

    By njrxman
I used my Samsung connected devices with Alexa previously. Now, Alexa no longer recognizes my Samsung Hub along with any of the Samsung devices. Have tried to “discover” devices more times than I want to mention. This may be an Alexa problem, but not sure. The actual app seems to control the devices OK but I have lost Alexa compatiblity. Update : User error caused my problem. It seems as though I inadvertently created 2 "home" locations. I deleted the one that contained no devices and my problem was solved. Thanks to support for tracking down the problem!
  • SmartThings button 1/5

    By Jaime Lara V
What happened to the button options? Unable to set the actions for 1 press, 2 presses and hold!!!
  • Used to be great 2/5

    By Jeremy B80
Used to love this app but the last few months my automations that depend on me arriving home and leaving stopped working (changing AC temp of Ecobee). When I open the app I find it not logged in and have to sign in. Happens daily now and never did before.......what gives?
  • Muy bien 5/5

    Excelente
  • Missing Features 1/5

    By BottleRocket_
No widget, no 3D/haptic touch. They took the convenience away and say it’s better. It’s not. You want quick access to your devices and Smartthings no longer offers that.
  • Love it 5/5

    By shadevil75
    Love this app!
  • Awesome 5/5

    By Lord Willoughby
Dang, I love this app as it provides an entry into an awesome Samsung tv! If you want to know the details just download it.
  • Camera 5/5

    By 199th LIB
    So far meets expectations.
  • Recent update 2/5

    By Daboyz31
After recent update I’m no longer able to set or disarm the alarm from the app.
  • Great Innovation 5/5

    By MileyRae
Nice to know when the door is left open or when the temperature drops suddenly. Many very useful features. I love it!!
  • Breaks SmartHome Monitor Automations 1/5

    By Ebright82_
Previously I was able to use my phone to set away/home Smart Home Monitor modes based on my location automatially. That automation functionality is now gone in the "new" app. Could not even use SmartThings Arrival sensor to set that. Forums say I need to use classic. This is a big regression, shameful for Smaartathings to let go of a critical tool lile Smart Home Monitor.
  • Device discovery doesn’t work 1/5

    By ssydorenko
Device discovery is complete junk. It just doesn’t work.... wasted around 10k for Samsung “smart” appliances which doesn’t connect/work with this app. Refrigerator, dishwasher, dryer, cooktop, range hood, oven nothing is working with this app..... iOS 13 is not supported, on iOS 12 it’s not working, Android 9 doesn’t work as well... the last resort to try it on Galaxy phone.... which completely defeats the purpose of having iOS app.
  • problem solver 5/5

    By philar25
We always lose remotes. But with the smart things we could easily do everything without stressing
  • Silly 1/5

    By Salesforce Lover
Why can’t I set my door to unlock? The automation for locking works just fine but there is no option for unlocking the door automatically when I arrive home. Going back to the classic app.
  • Don’t expect a track pad 2/5

    By kannonsymponia
I downloaded this app in hopes of having a track pad for internet browsing instead I got a crappy swipe pad that is actually worse than the remote
  • Needs some fine tuning 4/5

    By BeckyMac18
The app can be a little difficult to get things going right, but overall I think it does a decent job.
  • Samsung R7070 4/5

    By klhsfm
App works mostly as expected barring minor glitches. The vacuum will not respond to app input while it is running.
  • Great 5/5

    By CecyZ2019
    Awesome
  • Tedious and a detriment to adoption of smart homes 1/5

    By Maragnus
App always starts signed out and signing in takes too long. It’s difficult to do anything fast in this app. It’s quirky and occasionally the wrong headers get stuck at the top and I can’t switch pages. I have to force quit the app and start again.
  • Doesn’t work w/ new update 1/5

    By Kate Irene
I just updated my app and now it doesn’t work with my tv. What a hassle! Ugh
  • 400+MB??!! 1/5

    By Dbduke
Why is a remote control app over 400MB?!
  • Great capabilities 5/5

    By Sportscrazee323
It’s nice knowing you can control things at home while your away. Smart Things makes that happen which gives you peace of mind when your away.
  • Ssoooo convenient 5/5

    By Cr. 1993
Very useful and cool to have. I can connect my phone and watch and view anything on my phone and computer, which is great for viewing video and photos for people since I’m a documentarian. Instead of on a small screen.
  • Update 💯 3/5

    By Dabzmine
Love the new updated remote. On the old version I couldn’t turn down the volume
  • A LOT MORE RESPONSIVE 4/5

    By K.Ameli
I initially hated using this app because the taps were not recognized and I was basically puncturing my screen. Now with this update the app works great, I'm able to raise or lower the volume with ease and browse each app with no problems.
  • Ummm, this update? 1/5

    By Somegladmorning
I have no idea how to make it work anymore. Why did you change how to make selections? Are there instructions? Maybe it just doesn’t work with my XR.
  • Apple Watch 2/5

    By Sarah_Ashleyxox
Inconvenient app all around but also very disappointed by the lack of Apple Watch compatibility.
  • Best Hub 5/5

    By Didarul97202
Best Smart Home Hub to start with. Please add full functionality of ewelink and IHC
  • Truth 5/5

    By Pitbull40
Awesome feature and so easy to use!!!!
  • Still no random rotate images? 1/5

    By nycbob
STILL no way to randomly move through images in Art mode for the 'smart' tv 'The Frame'? And a 400+mb app? For what functionality? Listen - many of us bought 'The Frame' to look at our images. And NOT sequentially from the BEGINNING every freaking time we simply change a border on one image. I've sadly stopped recommending the TV to people interested. It's simply crazy you don't have a 'random art' yet. On a FOUR HUNDRED MEGABYTE APP.
  • Disfunctional/Slow 2/5

    By J11232321
Unable to create a scene for a power it vacuum. Please fix.
  • Can’t use the Power Button when the TV is off??? 1/5

    By Moonrayjay
What I loved about this app was it made it easy to control my things. With the latest update, I can’t even turn on my TV. First it was you had to select which room you were wanting to control, and then you can control the things there. But now I can’t control anything with this app. Change it back to the way it was please.
  • Not as good as prior app. 1/5

    By pOtTs000
This is a step backwards from the original app. Features are missing and the status of devices is wrong or painfully slow to update. Interface is weird also. In classic app you cold change the wallpaper to whatever you wanted. New app you are limited to their weird selection.
  • Ugly. But it works. 2/5

    By DevilDogSoldier
At least this app sort of works. It is still a shocking disaster for a company like Samsung.
  • I love it 5/5

    By Garisha K
This app is the best I love how I can control my tv and appliances.....and monitor them from another floor level while I'm downstairs cooking I can monitor my washer and dryer while it's up stairs I love it love it love it the best ever
  • Super cool 5/5

    By sjfnejciirbrbcndj
Totally surprised with the smart features! I had a previous Samsung smart tv model and the “smart” feature was always a pain!! Took forever to load the “hub” and you couldn’t use your phone to it. Really surprised & love it!
  • Honeywell Dimmer won’t pair with new app but... 1/5

    By arbnknight
...paired instantly with old app. Seriously? I stood there for a while until I remembered how bad the app was. This is fundamental capability so one star for the app. This is literally the worse migration experience I have every had with a piece of technology, app or otherwise. I get Minimal Viable Product thinking but your min bar has always not signed with reality.
