I’m unable to access SL through the app even though I can access my account using my subscription number on Southernliving.com. The app recognizes that it’s been installed on my iPad but it doesn’t respond to account number or email or my login. Very frustrating!
Can’t access my April issue 1/5
I wrote customer service because I couldn’t access my April issue. It would only let me buy or start a trial. I received a response from customer service telling me to download the app for Southern Lady. I sent a response back saying I needed access to my April issue of Southern Living and have not heard back from customer service since. I have been a subscriber for years and want to know why suddenly I can’t download an issue.
Where is this month’s issue? 1/5
I have a digital subscription for Southern Living Magazine. This year’s subscription is from 29 Jan 2019 — 29 Jan 2020. Where is the January 2020 issue? I am set for auto renewal. I have paid for this month’s issue. It is currently Jan 14 and no issue for Jan 2020. At the top of the page it asks me to subscribe, but I’m already subscribed. I tried “Restore iTunes Purchase” to no avail. I followed all of the steps given by your Trooubleshooting Help:
Refresh the library
Double check the magazine had not been archived
Restore iTunes Guest Purchase Purchase (this may take several attempts across 24 hours)
Go to Account > Preferences > Sync your Library > Sync Now > This will refresh with our servers and ensure that all magazines are displayed in your account. Please do not close the app during this process.
Double check that you have an active subscription. After completing the above checks please send us a receipt for this subscription including start and finish dates.
I have tried everything. Please help.
Also, why has Southern Living done away with their Christmas with Southern Living book and the Southern Living Annual Cookbook? I have every issue from the first publication, and now, Southern Living is no longer publishing them without any notice or explanation.

Can never get my mag.’s on line, even with my subscription. I am tired of calling and waiting and waiting and waiting to get someone to help. Then a month or two later the same thing happens again. Pretty sad because the mag. has so many ties with Bham. which is where I live and my account is never straightened out.

This app update is horrible. I have followed the directions five times and still can’t access my print/digital subscription or previously downloaded issues. I even uninstalled the app and reinstalled it. Very frustrating.

I have the hardest time bringing in a new issue. This has happened more than once. I was notified the new issue was available but I can’t download it. It does allow me to purchase a subscription which I already renewed months ago. Im not going to spend money again on something I already bought. I have other digital subscriptions, I never have this problem with them. Very disappointed!

The Southern Living team and ZINIO worked with me to fix the situation. It took a few tries, but eventually it worked. Southern Living restored all of my missing issues. Thank you!
Tried opening the app only to find out it’s been updated and I have to log in again. Easy enough, right? Except I now get an error message that the “user does not exist.”
Are all my digital issues now lost?
New App Needs Major Work! 1/5
Like nearly all other reviewers I have been a loyal SL customer for 20 years. The new app update has caused all of my back digital issues to disappear. I get an error with my email address and my account number is not recognized but says “try back later” which I have done for days...when is later? I have sent a request for help through the app, hopefully this is promptly resolved before I leave on vacation tomorrow because I wanted to take my issues with me on my iPad but have had no luck after days of trying this mind-numbingly frustrating new app! So disappointed :-(

Work needs to be done on this app. The help option is a joke. I can log into my account but like others have lost downloaded magazines and unable to download current issues without paying. If I try to log on with my account number the site responds that they are having issues - try again later. I have received this message for over a week so it's time someone resolves their issues!

You keep changing the app and my magazines keep disappearing. I will not be renewing my subscription. Going to the digital format should keep them at my disposal. More aggravation than it worth.

I too have lost my past issues and with my latest renewal have also missed print issues! The website is terrible and there is inconsistent information about account numbers depending on whether your are calling in or online. Such a disappointment!!!

I updated the digital version of my app, and I lost years worth of digital subscriptions plus I lost 2 Southern Living House Plans magazines that I had purchased through the app that cost me $4.99 each. I’ve been in contact with Meredith Digital Customer Service (who BTW is located in the Philippians), Zinio, and even Southern Living House Plans. No one can help me. They all seem to think it’s someone else’s problem. Zinio just said that as per publisher’s request they are no long supporting any issues but the magazine. So, I’m angry and frustrated. I’ve been a loyal subscriber for years. I’m about to cancel my subscription to both digital and hard copy Southern Living. That is so sad too. They used to be such a wonderful company. What a bunch of crooks and jerks.

The app is a bit temperamental but will work.
Have been a digital and print subscriber for many years. Cannot access any of my digital copies from past years. Even Southern Living’s Customer Service doesn’t answer inquiries. No help from the app developer either.

I no longer have access to my digital subscription since the update. I have contacted customer service several times and it has not been resolved. What happened?
While I’m not a fan of the speed, I have to say that Zinio customer service did resolve all my problems, including lost logon and lost back issues.
So I've signed into the new app. The instructions never go away and all you get is and ugly home page with recycled articles from old magazines at the top and the magazines. The old app had a great feature that you could get sweet little articles almost every day about current events or recipes or whatever. This is definitely a downgrade

Since your latest update my husband can no longer access the issues on his iPad.....I was able to "restore purchases" on mine and read the current and back issues....we have deleted the app on his device and downloaded it three times in an attempt to fix the problem....I have tried logging in to the account and nothing works.....I would appreciate some help with this matter.

I have gotten Southern Living magazine since 1980 and have never been disappointed, even when they were in black and white. Well I won’t be able to say that again. This latest update is a disaster. I have lost all my copies dating back to 2013 since I can’t even sign back in. Please fix the issue with your app update! The new features for the new update sounded very promising, especially being able to share recipes.

My wife and I have been subscribed to Southern Living for years.....since the current update I can no longer access our digital subscription on my iPad....my wife is able to access her copy on her iPad so we know it is recognizing the log in information.....we have family sharing turned on.....I would like help so that I can view it on my own device....we have tried the restore all purchases and it does not work.....we deleted and reinstalled the app and it does not work.
This app doesn’t work, and all of my magazines are gone. With the technology advances in today’s world, there’s no excuse for this. Shame on Southern Living!

I too have had problems with this new app. I put in my email and password, but it doesn’t recognize my account. Called tech support, but not much help there either. I travel a lot, so I need to be able to access the digital version. I hope you get this fixed soon! The old version worked great.

Long time loyal subscriber. Love the magazine. But something happened with the app. I lost all my old issues. I cannot access my account through the app. It somehow wants to use an email I haven’t used since 2003, and will not let me change it. I called, and spoke to a person who could not help me and is resending me a copy of the current physical issue.

I have been a digital subscriber for years. With the latest update I’ve lost my library and cannot download current magazine. I have subscribed to SL for over 30 years. Have lost all my digital library. When I called customer service they gave me the phone number of Apple technical support and said it was a problem with my device! The same device I have been reading SL on for months. Very disappointing support.

Not sure if this transition was thoroughly tested. Not only can I not access any of my past issues it’s not recognizing my account at all even with an active digital subscription. Very disappointing.
Can’t access my magazines after update 1/5
I’ve been exchanging emails with the new app support to no avail. I answer their questions and then two days later I receive the same message again asking me to respond. Finally, today I was sent an email assuming my problem had been resolved when it hasn’t! I’ve subscribed to SL for years and when I tried to sign in with my email it acted like I didn’t have an account. I’m so disappointed that I’ve lost years of digital magazines.
We have not been able to view our issues since the latest update. We have contacted support and they said they are still working on it, a week later! Will not purchase again. We paid for both print and digital, not getting what we paid for.

Honestly! Did anyone really QA this before it was pushed out? It’s impossible to read the magazine on the phone anymore. I am not able to see any format (I tried them all) that was legible on an iPhone. What exactly did this update “improve”!!!???

The latest update is awful, terrible and just about every malevolent word one could use. I cannot access any of my back issues and I had to contact Customer Service to even access the latest issue. Please fix it so I can access issues thatI have paid for. Whoever dreamed up this latest version is inept at best. Wish I had never updated to the latest version.

The app is not user-friendly. The failure is consistent. Unfortunately every time there’s an update it kicks you out and sign in is nearly impossible. I have become tired of dealing with it. In good conscience I cannot recommend the digital format. I think it’s time to cancel my subscription.

Since the “update” I cant download current issue. I keep getting a message telling me I am off line, or “download failed. Please try again later”. I have loved reading SL on my IPad for years. This update has rendered my purchase useless and wasted the $19.99 subscription charge.

I have a yearly subscription to Southern Living but it always says my issues are locked. Then I try to subscribe and it stops me telling me that I am already subscribed. So frustrating!

Since the upgrade, I am locked out of digital account as well as the restore previous issues. Totally useless.
Update, tech support answered my inquiry within an hour on a Sunday morning. Found the problem and fixed it. Accessed the site, download was fast. Changing rating to 5 stars
Every few months my issues stop downloading. I’m told I need to subscribe, pay more money, to download the issues even though I’m already a print and digital subscriber. I then do everything it recommends on the website and it still doesn’t work. I called customer service but they are closed. I’ve paid for the subscription bet I still can’t access it.

I recently got a new IPad and can view my subscription digitally on my old iPad but I had to update it with my new one and the app is asking me to buy a subscription —- which I’ve had for 25 years.
