Unhappy, can not access magazine, update- now happy 5/5
Since the upgrade, I am locked out of digital account as well as the restore previous issues. Totally useless.
Update, tech support answered my inquiry within an hour on a Sunday morning. Found the problem and fixed it. Accessed the site, download was fast. Changing rating to 5 stars
Every few months my issues stop downloading. I’m told I need to subscribe, pay more money, to download the issues even though I’m already a print and digital subscriber. I then do everything it recommends on the website and it still doesn’t work. I called customer service but they are closed. I’ve paid for the subscription bet I still can’t access it.

I usually don’t write reviews but the App doesn’t work. I recently got a new IPad and can view my subscription digitally on my old iPad but I had to update it with my new one and the app is asking me to buy a subscription —- which I’ve had for 25 years. Why can’t it be like the App was? The updates don’t work
New app is bad 1/5
New app is difficult to navigate and does not allow access to downloaded issues when offline. I don’t understand the point if I can’t download and read whenever I would like. Not worth the cost now. If app is not improved I am cancelling my subscription.

Even though I subscribe, the app keeps telling me that I need to subscribe. In addition, literally every other page is now an ad. I used to love the app, but when they redid it several months ago, it has become more frustrating than beneficial. I a, very disappointed in the direction this app has taken.

I’m disappointed in the latest update. I don’t like the scrolling or the latest “from the web” section. If I want it to look the web, I’ll go there. I want a magazine app to work like turning the pages of a magazine. I want to see the issues I currently have access to on one screen in an easy to read grid. The “new look” does none of this. It’s slow and fuzzy. Pleas fix it, I won’t renew if it stays like this and I don’t do paper mags.

This is the first product review I ever wrote for an app. The latest update is extremely disappointing. The bookmark feature has been removed. All the articles I had flagged with bookmarks from previous editions are gone. In addition, the have begun to charge print edition subscribers for access to digital editions with no warning. My impression is that this update is less functional and costs more. In addition, I wrote to the product help within the app help feature twice and never received a response. This app is not worth it.
Cannot save individual recipes 2/5
I want to save certain recipes in my digital recipe box. The only option is to take a screenshot of the recipe...why not copy?

I’ve been a subscriber for nearly 25 years. Used to view it on Newsstand on iPad. Now they had changed, I no longer and view it on my iPad unless I subscribe as a digital customer. I don’t think this is fair.
I know subscriptions are down for all print media, but I don’t think this is kosher!

Deleted right away. Downloaded for the Gardening section but it’s not available unless you pay significantly extra for the digital content, which is excessive. If you already subscribe to the print copy, digital should be free or minimal cost. For the Wall Street Journal the digital content is free! What’s up with you guys?

I purchased digital issues as part of a hard-copy subscription. Issues before April 2013 are missing from the app. Are you going to make them available, or are they gone forever?

This update is horrible! I am a current subscriber and I cannot download my current digital edition. It is asking me to subscribe and I am already on auto renewal. I am not paying again for something I have already paid for. What gives?

I lost all of my magazines that were in the cloud with this upgrade and I cannot download the latest issue. I had 4 years of magazines and now I have nothing. Southern living owes me a refund for my subscription and compensation for all of my lost magazines.

I dislike the latest version of Southern Living app. It is slow to load my issues. There is now a "latest" tab which is confusing because it prominently displays a note to "Subscribe and save" as if I was not already subscribed. Once in the issue, you can no longer flip pages and the header and footer bars appear on every page until you start to scroll. It takes away from the experience of feeling like you are looking at a non digital magazine. I also dislike the way the "issues" tab is organized. I like the way issues were organized in the previous version of the app. When moving thru the issue pages I accidentally went to the table of contents. I dislike that the table of contents is just a list now with no design around it. I also you have to know exactly where you were in order to go back to that exact page. Makes me want to go back to the paper subscription.

How awesome can this be?!🎉 It is so wonderful to have this app on my iPhone whether I'm needing to review one of the delightful recipe's ingredient while shopping, having a slew of monthly magazines at my fingertips when I need that one particular article, or simply enjoying reading the magazine at my leisure..literally anywhere!

Not so happy that although I am a current subscriber, and get the print version each month without fail, my digital versions don't usually show up, and I'm asked to purchase them all over again. Why can't the app be current and not have this bug?

I have a hard copy subscription and have had digital access up until earlier this year. Now when the newest magazine is available it says I need to subscribe but it recognizes that I have a subscription so it also gives me the option to not only purchase the current issues but also previous issues I have not been able to download. I have also tried to get help directly with Southern Living but to no avail. They either need to fix this problem for subscription holders or ditch the digital version all together. I really don't understand how this problem has not been solved. Based on other reviews this is an ongoing problem that they have to be aware of. Extremely disappointing.

I have wasted so much time trying to access digital editions, following every lousy direction until I'm ready to scream. I'm dizzy from the circles you have me running. Now I'm reading other reviews that say digital access is not included with print subscription. CRAZY SUGGESTION: Stop driving your subscribers crazy and offer the option to add digital access. You just might improve your profits and save your subscribers sanity and valuable time!
Cannot get the digital edition without paying more 1/5
I contacted Southern Living Customer Service and was told the print subscription NO LONGER includes the digital version. You have to pay more when you renew your subscription if you want to continue the digital. Or you can buy the digital version separately, I guess. Not a happy customer and I have subscribed for decades!
I love reading digitally but I have a subscription and it keeps trying to make me buy the issues. This is VERY annoying and not good business practice.

The app reproduced the magazine beautifully (within the limits of the iPad), but at renewal time this year, the app has no longer downloaded new issues. All new issues are marked for purchase, instead of being properly included in my subscription. Same issue as so many others are reporting.

This app used to work great. I loved being able to access my print subscription on my iPad when I was away. Now, all my issues are gone, and it just runs me in circles when I try to sign in again. I am not alone in this issue, but apparently Southern Living doesn't care. Will have to consider this when it comes time to renew. Shame on Southern Living.

Digital Access No Longer Provided With Print Subscription 1/5
This per multiple calls and emails to Customer Service. However, it contradicts the messages that are still provided through the app, indicating that the digital access is enabled on my account. Very poor policy change on the part of Southern Living, not to mention terribly implemented and communicated to subscribers.

I have a hard copy subscription of Southern Living and attempting to get the digital version on my iPad proved futile. The Southern Living app first tries to lead me into renewing my current subscription which is still good for more than 18 months. I finally create an account and then attempt to log into it but I am told that I'm not entering a valid email address, the email address that I used to create the account. Really, really bad app or maybe that's the way Southern Living wants the app to work or simply just does not care. The app is not worth the one star that I need to enter to post this 👎🏻👎🏻 review.

My only regret is I recently discovered it! This app is quick, easy to scan when looking for a recipe, and preforms without the frequent bugs of many other magazines... I am most pleased!

The pages turn like the paper magazine, and the photos are beautiful. But I don't know how to bookmark things for future reference. Hopefully I can print out the BB + B coupon.

I love the magazine but the app suddenly stopped working.
App is the worst. Have subscription but cannot download digital magazines. Tried at least 25 times. Log in and out still doesn't work. REALLY. You can't fix this!!!
Unable to download 50th Anniversary Issue 1/5
I have a digital only subscription but cannot download the most recent 50th anniversary issue. Have had no issues until now. Contacted Southern Living but they emailed back that they could not help me. I needed to contact Apple. Please work on this app.

App has gotten very erratic. Jumping to different pages and zooming in and out of its own accord. Can't control it. Worked fine until I downloaded the 50th anniversary issue. Please fix. I love this magazine.

This is my favorite magazine! However, after my most recent auto-renewal, I no longer had access to my digital editions. I was upset! I see other subscribers have also had this problem. I called customer service, and I discovered that, unbeknownst to us, not all subscriptions still include the digital subscription with the print edition now (yes, publishers have learned that 'there is no such thing as a free lunch'). Anyhow, I called, and the nice lady enlightened me on the issue. I now have both. When my time comes to auto-renew, however, I will have to call again and make sure that my subscription includes both. A pain in the butt, yet as an economics teacher who used to work in advertising, I understand the reasoning behind it. Print media is expensive and becoming less preferred by the masses. Yet they still have to generate revenue. It is what it is.

1) old issues indicate I need to "purchase", even though I already have a subscription in effect at that time, and now. (And the mag issues have already been downloaded before)
2) would love to be able to "bookmark" my favorite recipes and articles, so I can easily retrieve them later. (In paper copy I turn down page or mark with a pen)
3) like all other reviewers, the app seems to forget that I have a subscription, and the app is not correctly synchronized to SL database
