Best parking spot locating app 5/5
I have used SpotHero couple of times & they gives the best possible options. Will keep using...
No hassle cancelation. 5/5
You can’t get any better than that. Being able to book a parking spot for cheaper that doing it there and also being able to cancel the same spot. Thank you spot hero.
The way to go if you need to park in NYC
Booked Lot 1/5
By Ruined for Good
They let us book the parking spot and when I got there the guy said there were no open spaces. It’s a good thing I canceled 2 mins before the booking because then they wouldn’t give me a refund. Horrible experience. Never again.
Double charged 1/5
By Xander the Grey
I booked parking in a garage in NYC from 9am to 9pm. The attendant checked me in at 8:58am and I left at 1:30pm, way before my reservation end date. When I scanned at checkout the garages system kept saying “reservation not active”. We tried multiple times but couldn’t get it to work so I ended up paying the garage and filing a claim with spot hero. The customer service rep requested that I submit a copy of my receipt and they would take care of the charges. I submit my receipt and received an email back stating that unfortunately I was out of my check in time so my reservation was not valid and subject to additional charges by the garage.
That will be the last time I use this app.
Excellent Customer Service!! 5/5
During a recent trip, I used SpotHero to reserve a spot in a parking garage. When I returned to the garage four days later, the garage entrance and exit were completely torn up and the garage was locked and posted with signs saying all vehicles had to be out by 6am that morning. As a result my car was stuck in the garage for four extra days, my parking ticket was charged four extra days and I needed to find lodging for another four days before I could get to my car again. I reached out to SpotHero, who was not made aware of the construction but the parking garage company, and they reimbursed me for the extra parking fees and what I paid for an additional Airbnb. They also gave me a $25 credit in the app to use in the future. I will definitely be using SpotHero again!!
Level of Service 5/5
Spot Hero has been so easy to work with.. always accurate and accessible
Never had a bad experience. Support team is nice and helpful and works far too hard to put up with half the nonsense levied against them.
Don’t use for monthly 1/5
I have nothing but bad things to say about Spothero. The app was fine for booking daily or weekend reservations, but booking monthly parking with them is a nightmare. In my experience, spothero is a third party when it comes to renting out monthly parking. They don’t communicate at all with the lot managers, meaning cancelling reservations is going to consist of being billed continuously after cancelling and spending hours on the phone just trying to find out who can actually cancel your reservation.
So if you’re looking for monthly parking, I’d use Spothero to find open spots and then cut out the middleman and go straight to the lot manager.
Overbooked almost missed our show. 1/5
By Danielle Sydenstricker
Me and 3 other cars almost missed our broadway show because the lot we secured was over booked and the traffic was so backed up it took 45 min to get back out of that garage. Which made us go to an adjacent cash lot which was less secure. Then they refused to give me my money back and only issued a credit for a future use, which I do not plan on using this app again after my poor experience with their customer service. The proper thing to do would have been to refund my money in full. Not to keep it for future.
Best app ever 5/5
No doubt in my mind one of the best companies/apps out there. It’s so straightforward, saves you SO much money and time, and doesn’t lock you into anything/you can cancel up until the start time. I don’t think I’ve seen a company this transparent and easy before. I use it every week - seriously one of the best!!
Payed, app had the right plate #, towed anyways 1/5
The title says it all, I input my plate # on the app, then made a parking reservation in Chicago. I was towed 2 days later because “no spothero”, as the towing company said.
Luckily, spothero refunded me my $28. However, that still left me down ~$215 with no assurances that this wouldn’t happen again because spothero doesn’t own the lots but merely facilitated the transaction.
TL;DR: even if you make a proper reservation through the app, you park at your own risk of the lot operator towing you with no recourse through spothero.
Very competitive rates 5/5
I’m usually planning my parking arrangements at the last minute. Spot Hero gives me the best rate all the time, advising me how long it would take me to get to my destination after parking.
Overcharged for parking - awful support 1/5
By Brainfed - Matt
SpotHero overcharged me and then ignored my request for a refund of the difference, just said “thanks for the feedback!” You’re welcome I guess.
No Guaranteed Parking and No Way to Review Lots 1/5
Awful experience with SpotHero compared to other apps available. We booked a parking spot in San Francisco at a “5*” garage since we had a very tight timeline and didn’t want to hunt for parking. When we got to the garage (part of a hotel), we drove around for 20 minutes (at least a dozen tight levels with many cars in front of us) trying to find an open spot. When we finally found an attendant he said that they were full. When I showed him our SpotHero reservation he said that if they get full then they do not honor the reservations. What’s the point of *reserving* a spot with SpotHero if they are not guaranteed?! I understand that this is not the fault of the app necessarily but this could have been avoided if 1) SpotHero worked closely with their garages to ensure that spots are guaranteed. If a garage cannot support that, they should not be listed in SpotHero. From reading other reviews, this is a common problem. And 2) allow users to write reviews on garages. I could warn future customers to avoid this garage instead of there being some magical 5* rating for the garage that apparently isn’t coming from SpotHero customers. Needless to say, we were late to our reservation.
One good point is that support was nice and refunded my money, but I have zero trust in SpotHero’s selection of garages or their rating system. I do not use a parking app to get my money refunded... I use it to get a parking spot which apparently this one doesn’t do.
App Charged More 2/5
It seems like a convenient app, but paid more through the app for the same reservation times.
We went to an event and reserved a spot and pre-paid. On the day of we found out paying at the lot was cheaper for the same amount of time. (Paid $18.50 through the app when we could have just pulled up and paid $5 for the same amount of time.)
Also unsure what guarantees your spot in the parking lot. When we arrived, the lot was full and there wasn’t a reserved spot or an attendant to direct us?
Fix bug!! 1/5
For some reason won’t let me add any new cards... keeps giving me an issue stating my expiration date is wrong or the name on the card does not match
Parking Downtown 5/5
Best most efficient economical and fast system ever!
By Ryan Austin 0808
Spoke w/ Customer Service rep and got credit to my account for an unfortunate situation, something I am honestly not sure too familiar with due to the typical customer service bots usually given on websites and not direct-direct phone #s giving typical run-around. . .highly recommend this app, just be careful to look at the details because they are mostly Valets and you really have to dig for individual spots in big cities + I believe just generally. . .!
Great but one beef 4/5
By Mark in SNH
I park in the same spot in Boston once a week, my minor complaint is that the site doesn't directly go to my account every use and show “last reservation” as my default option.
They don't openly disclose excess fees and when you're at the garage you're powerless to do anything but pay excess surcharges.
Also why don't you refund the customer so they can leave the garage instead of holding them hostage?
Spot hero is great 5/5
By Jim Gluc
I had heard many advertisements on the radio. I tried it and have really liked it.
This app over charges even when there’s early bird specials going on. I emailed them about it and instead they refused to match what i pay when i don’t use the app which is the 18. This was my first time using the app bc i had lost my card. But i won’t be using them again!i paid 40 bucks the least you could’ve done was honor the early bird special SINCE i left BEFORE it ended, 4:30! Anyone in their right minds would be smart and try a different app or to just have your card on you. It’s not worth it. It’s really not!
Sneaky service fees now added 2/5
Recently, they started adding a sneaky service fee to every parking order of about $0.50. The map does not display this and it was nice to see the total price to book like before. I’d rather it either be priced in or an even number that is correctly displayed on the map. Feels deceiving
I highly recommend this app!!!! 5/5
I always worry coming to a big city like Chicago and end up paying a fortune on parking. With this app, my life is so much easier!! I'm impressed with the ease of use and map directions and details about each location!! Thanks for saving me tons of money $$$$!!!!!
SpotHero is a SCAM. 1/5
SpotHero was charging oversize fees for all my reservations after inputting my car model. Later a parking attendant noticed and said that I should not be charged the oversize fee for my car. Wrote SpotHero to ask for refund for all instances of being mistakenly charged for oversize fee and all I got was a SORRY for being confused about their policy. Big time SCAM.
Absolute scam 1/5
We came 10 min early and left 30 minutes late and still got charged an additional $15 dollars. Unhelpful service.
New version is a mess 1/5
I’ve deleted and reinstalled it and still, multiple issues. Apple Wallet passes are no longer an option. The auto gate open feature doesn’t work when there isn’t any internet access - I got stuck in a garage without a ticket (because the gate auto opened on entry) because without internet, the app logged me out. The bar code wouldn’t work without a ticket. Please bring back this simple feature - a pass you can download into your wallet. And get rid of the auto gate open or provide a means to permanently disable it. You’ve ruined what was a great app.
By ACSP Computers
Now i know why i can get $30 all-day parking in midtown Manhattan at a garage that normally charges $80. Because every now and then at random times, when you make a reservation, it changes your reservation time to an extra day so you pay more, thus making up for lost revenue. If you are going to use an app like this make sure it is open source and make sure you know programming; otherwise you could get ripped off by a random sequence easter egg.
Fantastic prices!! 5/5
This app never lets me down! Always get fantastic pricing in areas that would otherwise be outrageous! Well done! I tell everyone about it and use it myself all all the time!
Best Parking App! 5/5
Spot Hero is the best App for finding the best prices for parking. The App is very user friendly. I always take advantage of their promotions and referral credits. I recommend the App to friends, family and clients.
No spots beware 1/5
By Daves Not Here!!!
I paid for a spot and when I got there at the time stated the lot was full. the app has no way to ask for a refund. I would suggest finding the spot first then pay.
Great app! 5/5
Helps me everywhere I travel in the U.S. love this app I recommend it to all my friends when they need good price parking 🙌🏽
You get what you pay for 1/5
I booked a $25 parking space east side of Chicago. Arrived at lot to park in a space I had already reserved and paid for. Gentleman owner asked me to move my vehicle to the alleyway behind the lot. I was suspicious but went about my day. Came back several hours later to find the parking lot and alleyway jam-packed with vehicles. He even had people parking in non-parking spaces! I found my vehicle trapped amongst other vehicles. I found the owner still selling parking spaces that he didn’t have. I asked him to move vehicles so that I would be able to leave. He would say things like “few more minutes”, “ten more minutes”. I waited a whole hour for him to move vehicles out of my way. Horrible experience and huge waste of time. I went to Spot Hero with my issue and they awarded me a $5 credit to my Spot Hero account to compensate my trouble. Very dissatisfied.
My Go To app for parking 5/5
Love this app! Easy to use and works always! Very reliable. Throws in extra few hours for the same price 😀
Works great — a must download 5/5
By David K. Spothero Fan
SpotHero shows me the price and it is often cheaper if you buy on the app. If you have any questions or issues, just call customer service and they take care of you. Best app out there for parking! Download it.
Poor Service 1/5
In Minneapolis this app is terrible! Reserved parking for a lot and the lot wasn’t even one that took reservations! Called the support number and sat on hold for over 5 minutes and didn’t get a single answer, I had to make another reservation and pay more to park and then sent the company and email and got no response to that! Lost money due to this! Very disappointed
There’s a catch..... ITS MORE EXPENSIVE! 2/5
It’s my second time using Spot Hero. The concept is great. I’m sure it works for many... but if you live in large, expensive cities with CRAZY parking tabs and fees, Spot Hero may not be for you. Firstly, expensive cities charge by the minute for parking— 15 min increments are roughly $2-$8 depending where you’re parking. I just happened to be in the financial district in San Francisco. Y’all KNOW how it is there, if you’ve ever been.... anyway, I’ve been driving 20 min looking for a decent parking spot with no avail and just gave up and open up Spot Hero. Prices are STILL outrageous BUT cheaper than other places so, I proceed to try to book—- i wanted 8:45am BUT Spot Hero ONLY offers 30 minute increment-type bookings. I look at the time, it’s 8:33am, i say ok.... i need to be at my appointment by 9am so it is what it is— I’ll pay the extra 15 min (aka $2-$6) so I made my reservation for 8:30am to 11:30am... when i get into the garage, (valet only) there’s absolutely NO personnel on site to take my keys and car—- (obviously this isn’t the apps fault.) So, 10 minutes pass by and I rely on the attendee to take the CORRECT time stamp which is now 8:45/50am — i leave and come back 3 hours later TO THE MINUTE aka 11:45am because I paid for 3 hours and expect to be there 3 hours since it was THEIR absence that made the time stamp 8:50am, to begin with! Guess what? i get charged another 30 minutes for that parking spot for the 15 minutes— (again not the apps fault) for a total of $22.50— i lost my Sh%t!! I’m told to call SH customer support so I do. What does SH customer service do? Give me a $5 credit to use on their app stating they’re sorry i misunderstood how it works—- honestly, that LAST COMMENT WAS UNNECESSARY. You should see how there’s a REAL problem with the way your app works with the dumb 30 minute increments and change it. Thanks, SPOT HERO, i know how it works now! If we use the app, I pay more money for my entry and if it goes past your reservation time, I get to pay EVEN more cash because you don’t honor the actual TIME you pay to park.
Long story short—- if you’re in an area in which you’re paying by the minute, DON’T waste your time nor money, because spot hero doesn’t do 15 minute intervals and you’ll end up paying more for your parking.
Won’t save license plates for 9 months - customer support just ignores complaints 1/5
I’ve been using SpotHero for years. About 9 months ago it ‘forgot’ my license plate in app and won’t let me re-enter. I’ve reported to customer service a half-dozen times and after the typical gymnastics don’t work (delete the app, re install) with no fix they just close the ticket. My ‘work around’ it to enter a reservation without a license plate then launch the ParkWiz app copy from that app and paste into SpotHero. Enough already, after $10k in parking reservations deleting the app.
It doesn’t work often 2/5
When I first started using the app it was great. However, over time (in NYC at least) it works less and less often. On 3 occasions in the last few weeks I was denied entry to a lot I had already paid for. It seems the lots don’t actually reserve a space for you. If they already fill up they tell you to just go back and get a refund from SpotHero. There seems to be a real problem with SpotHero continuing to use garages that really deny their users. I like the lower prices, but what’s more important to me is knowing where I can actually park. In fairness when denied SpotHero will rebook you if you call them, but in a city like New York that means at least another half hour to my commute. One more denial and I’m going to stop using the app. User beware!
Audi Stadium / XFL Game 1/5
Used for the first time
Got to my spot which was residential row house in the back of sketchy ally
Car was already parked in the spot
Emailed Alerted Spot Hero
Emailed image of car in Spot Hero signed location
Sent message via issue link
Responded to email with all the above
Spot hero responded with send the receipt for where you parked and we will credit you
This is a good idea but they are at the mercy of home owners and over bookings
For me it was very bad experience
Made worst that they simply will not credit me for a service I paid for that was not provided for with an overwhelming amount of proof
The XFL should not promote this app as a parking resource
By GMan 185
It’s great to be able to be able to spend a Saturday in NYC without being gouged for parking.
Absolutely HORRIBLE customer service!! 1/5
No one was their app not working or allowing bookings for some unknown reason they couldn’t figure out. I had to call 3 times on my way to my event, to book, then to call back because no one sent me the email with the code or texted like they said they did. Called again, they said they sent it, and said it’ll come eventually. Ended up having to pay at parking garage but since I had to use cash and the unhelpful attendant said they don’t give receipts and I was “holding up the line” if I wanted one now I’m out double the parking. And SpotHero says oh well! I will never ever use this again!
Great company! Takes good care of their customers! 5/5
I had purchased parking for downtown Kansas City for the Chiefs parade and then canceled it and it wasn’t credited back to my account properly. I called and got Ms. Tonya a representative there at spot hero and she is making sure I get the full refund. This is a company that completely cares about its customers!! I’m an Uber/Lyft driver and I will be recommending this to all my customers!!!
I love SpotHero 5/5
Not only do I like planning out my parking ahead of time, but I love saving money on it. And the customer service can’t be beat. If you have a problem just call them. They’re on it!
Find a better solution 1/5
Got towed in Chicago because when I re-upped my parking I didn’t re-enter my plate #. Was originally told costs would be covered but after over a week SpotHero said it wasn’t their fault and gave me a credit for an app I’ll never use again. Cost me $400 to try and park overnight.
Parking “deals” sometimes more expensive than paying garage outright!! 1/5
I have found myself paying more for a parking spot through the app than if I had just paid through the garage. What a scam.
Poor customer service 1/5
I used this app for parking. The garage is unstaffed, you have to scan a bar code.
I paid $5.50. The bar code reader would not read my bar code so I had to pay another $3.00 to leave. Note, regular parking would have been less costly than that offered on the app.
I contacted customer service. So far they have refused to give me anything but a $3 credit for future parking which means I have paid $8.50 for a $3 space.
I complained to my card issuer. Filing a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission is another option; google Federal Trade Commission online to find out how. Long story short don’t settle for anything besides a full refund. Responding to a FTC complaint is expensive for a business and if FTC gets enough complaints they will launch an investigation of the company itself.
I am shifting my business to Parking Panda. Anyone this tone deaf to customer service I don’t need in my life. By the way lots of other one star comments had similar experiences - scanner doesn’t fly, cheaper to just drive up, SH won’t make you whole over a small amount - and they all get one of two canned replies. Talk is cheap.
Great if you don’t need receipts 3/5
By Kaelen V
So the app works well as far as booking parking goes. It’s nice to not have to stress about finding parking on the spot. However, I use it for my job and get reimbursed for parking. For some reason, I cannot get it to send me a receipt. The app always says it’s been sent, but it’s nowhere in my email, not in junk, spam, trash, random folders. I have tried 2 different emails and 3 different attempts at contacting support- they just throw up their hands and say it must be my fault even though I get their promotional emails all the time. So it’s fine if you just are using it for personal use, but not great for business.
